Shining Opal was spending a day house cleaning so to speak. The colorful male was gathering up crystal shards that had broken off recently. He collected the bigger pieces and saved them. Sometimes those who visited wanted to take a souvenir home. The pieces that were too small, he moved out and buried them. It really hurt when the tiny shards got stuck in a pad.

He carried the shards in a packet made of leaves to protect his mouth. Shining Opal hummed as he trotted out of the cavern. He'd already dug a hole well away from everything earlier that morning and had made one trip out. Now as he headed out again his eyes lightly skimmed the area out of habit.

Dusk Till Dawn - her name was as much a descriptor as it was a title, for a pup who could daydream from sun up to sun down. She was wandering, farther and farther from home. A call had been put out for the Fearless, the Curious, the Bold, and Tilli had always had a thirst for adventure; for what better way was there to tell a story than to live it?

The femme knew as she grew closer to the caves she was in the territory of someone familiar - her nose caught the scent of the female berserker she had once warned of a Spider she'd seen in her dreams. Eve, that had been her name, hadn't it?

If that was her scent, then the caves up ahead must have been the Crystal Caverns, where the gems shimmered like stars in the walls, and moss that glowed with bio-luminescence could be found to make the most incredible paints! Excitement bubbled over and her tail wagged as she pranced on light feet closer to the entrance, skidding to a stop just on the other side of the stream that ran along the edge of the cavernous territory.

A male was outside, burying something, by the looks of it. His coloration was beautiful - it reminded her of a sunset after rainfall, and of the lights she'd once seen paint the sky, her Father had called it an Aurora.

Tilting her head, Tilli hesitated to move any closer, and instead sat passively to watch him.

Shining Opal very carefully buried the shards where they would hopefully never harm some unsuspecting paw. Just as he finished nosing the last of the dirt into place, he felt a sensation crawl up his spine. That feeling one got when you thought someone was watching you from somewhere.

He stepped back and turned to look around. It caught him by surprise, for there surely was someone watching him. A female dire sat across at the edge of the stream just watching him. It didn’t appear she was trying to hide at all, just sitting and watching. Opal offered a friendly smile despite the slightly creepiness of it.

“Hello there. Can I help you with something?”

Tilli watched him turn, and she lowered her head a little, ears flicking back. "That probably seemed weird, I just didn't want to startle you, you seemed like you were doing something impotrant."

For wolves, things were buried for a number of reasons; to throw them away, to protect them, to hide them, to preserve them, or to mourn them. She didn't want to draw his attention from his task, but now, realizing how it must look to him, a stranger sitting there watching him as he worked, she couldn't help but be mildly mortified.

On light feet she hopped across the narrow waterway and approached slowly, head down and tail low; nonthreatening, but cautious. "I caught the scent of a friend of mine who lives near here, I hope I'm not intruding?" she offered lightly.

He chuckled softly, “what I was doing probably seemed weird to you too.” Shining Opal shook his head gently. “Just projecting paws from sharp pointy things.” He watched as she approached doing her best to appear nonthreatening.

“Did you? I’m glad you are closer to your friend, but they don’t live in this area. Of course not. I don’t usually get many visitors.” He turned to head back inside and then paused to look back at her. She was very pretty. “Would you care for a short stop or did you want to find your friend?”

A little company would be nice, but if she was in a hurry to find her friend he wouldn’t stop her. Most of the time he enjoyed the solidarity of his caves; every once in a while he did find himself getting lonely for company. Sometimes he could find others when he went out hunting, but it wasn’t always a guarantee they would be friendly.
