Boruto, the son of Hinata and Naruto is a trouble-making student who feels that he should walk his own path though at the first day at the academy, he makes a grand entrance.

Boruto returns after being suspended and meets Inowe who is not only a failure at everything but taijutstu but is also the class bully. Boruto teaches Inowe that the academy is so much more than just teaching skills and that they aren't as boring as Inowe claims. In order to become a complete ninja, one needs all these skills taught.

Metal Lee is the son of Rock Lee, but whenever he gets nervous, he messes up big time in some way. Shikidai the son of Temari and Shikamaru scolds Metal for his behavior only to get into a battle the next day. Apologizing, Shikidai realizes that not everyone is perfect.

Summoning jutsu was what Boruto was learning here, but when he summons a giant snake, he has no choice but to save Chocho from falling off of the roof.

Shino feels bad about not being able to do a good job teaching and is now possessed by an evil substance, which Boruto can detect.

Because Shino wasn't himself, being possessed by a black shadow, he tried to kill Boruto, Mitske, and Shikidai. But thanks to a clever strategy thought up by Shikidai, the three students were able to bring Shino back to his senses.

Some dude stalks the class rep and is able to hide in the shadows, but then after being rejected becomes possessed by a demon chakra. Boruto is able to see it, but it was Chocho who saves the day this time by explaining to the dude just how to win a lady's heart.

Boruto acts weird in front of his family and then claims that he might have the byakugan, a visual jutsu passed through the Hyuga clan that apparently requires a lot of training. In Boruto's case, it is uncertain of whether he has or hasn't actually unlocked it, but he has unlocked some sort of visual jutsu that allows him to see when the demon shadow possesses others.

After proving that he could not summon the byakugan, Boruto realizes that whatever power he has is super special and that he is just going to have to investigate it on his own. What Boruto doesn't realize is if he told his dad that he can see the shadows that have been enveloping these people that make them act all crazy that things might go better for him.

Trying to catch the "ghost", Boruto, Shikidai, and Mitske work as a team to hopefully find some sightings. With the first one they were too late, but this time they might make it in time.

Using a clever strategy, Boruto finally manages to see that there was someone behind the ghost incidents and this person was masked. Though the masked culprit got away for the time being, at least one part of the mystery was solved.

Boruto brings Mitsuki to his place for dinner and when Naruto shows up, but then has to leave because of work, Boruto gets really angry. Then Mitsuki tells Boruto that he knows the identity of the masked person behind the ghost attacks.

The class rep was the one behind the incidents and she did this out of revenge. She summoned a huge beast in the park, which the adults are having a tough time to stop. The beast can absorb chakra and then explode in order to destroy everything in sight. The only way to stop it, as far as anyone knows, is to kill the class rep.

Travelling to the dimension where the beast lives, Boruto and Mitsuki stop the class rep from being consumed from the ghost of hate any longer and the beast stays in his world while the class rep returns to the normal world with Boruto and Mitsuki.

After some time away from the school, the class rep is welcomed back to the academy with open arms.
