He didn’t know why he decided to even venture into the desert lands. It wasn’t his ideal place to be, but Snow Rabbit mentioned something about him going there to check on things. He knew the two packs were allied and that was okay with him, but he honestly didn’t know why he couldn’t send a bird or something. He didn’t complain though she went on his way to do what he was told. He would never tell his pack leader that the idea was pointless because he understood why it was given to him. He needed to make sure everything was in order and that things were going well.

As he walked through the sand, he could already feel it irritating his paws and he just wanted to turn right back around. It was going to take days to end get rid of it all and on top of that it was so damn hot. He could feel the sun just barreling down on him and he could feel how himself already getting exhausted. He had traveled far to get here and he wasn’t going to give up yet. It just showed that he wasn’t the young wolf he use to be. Being the oldest sibling wasn’t exactly the best all the time.

He narrowed his eyes when he noticed something in the distance. Maybe it was a wolf. Maybe it was a figment of his imagination. He knew that in extreme heat you could suffer more then just dehydration. It was something he had heard and never really experienced himself. But that didn’t stop him. He kept going hoping he could find someone from the pack soon before he ended up passing out from heat stroke.

It was Southern Shadow’s turn to do the meet and trade, and she took the job as seriously as if she had been asked to watch the snake pit - which was to say, not that much and with an outlook of boredom ahead. It was time to pass off some of their dried and cured leathers for the mercenary pack for who knew what: straps were useful for holdings bags, she supposed, but she doubted it would make for good armor. Still, it was a resource that was easy to make out in the desert, and they had a friendly relationship with the Iron Hides, and so there she was trotting through the sands with a bag of the stuff at her hip.

Since joining the Sand Raiders, South had been slowly getting better about socializing. She would never be a social butterfly about it (unless her persona for the moment demanded it), but at least she wasn’t bristling after 5 minutes or ready to escape in as much time either. Raiding did her well. Shinies definitely did her well.

As she approached the meeting place by the trio of cacti shaped like men (or so they had assumed), she squinted at the wolf through the harsh sunlight. Illusions weren’t uncommon, and so she didn’t put stock in the sense of deja vu that hit her at first. But as the figure resolved itself, her brows lifted. And the way he stomped in the sand was familiarly grumpy.

“S’that you, you stump tailed b*****d?” she called.
