Personality:
Esmeralda is very charismatic, street-wise, and independent. She knows how to
stand up for herself, and had the cunning to avoid severe and cruel punishment
back home. However, she also has a very tender side - wishing for justice to be
brought to those who are oppressed.
History:
Note: This history of Esmeralda here is not canon, but an alternate version to
better fit the guild. The content of her alternate history still follows the events of the
movie with some alternate changes based off the novel and the theme of the guild.
Sixteen years ago, Esmeralda was born in Paris to a human mother of
Romani descent and faced an early life of hardship - as she and her mother were
considered gypsies. She never knew who her father was, but a young Esmeralda
had constantly been told stories of fine beaches and colorful reefs off the coast of
France. Unfortunately, tragedy struck. Frollo and his guards had attacked the Court
of Miracles - which resulted in her becoming separated from her mother.
From there, things follow the events of the movie. Esmeralda meets both Captain
Phoebus and Quasimodo. In the end, Quasimodo saves Esmeralda from being
slain by Frollo and Frollo is defeated. However, unlike the events of the movie,
Phoebus instead marries a noblewoman named Fleur-de-Lys.
This deeply saddens Esmeralda, but ultimately, she wants Phoebus to be happy.
However, she does not fall in love with Quasimodo. The reason she chose Phoebus
over Quasimodo was not that Quasimodo was deformed, but because Quasimodo
hadn't fully matured, and his blind love for her had led to him becoming overly
reliant on her. While Frollo saw her as an evil temptress, a siren, Quasimodo saw
her as angelic. Phoebus was the only one who saw her as a feisty, yet normal
woman.
Ultimately, things worked out for both her friends as Quasimodo ended up falling in
love with a circus performer named Madelline. Instead of love, Esmeralda focused
on protecting her people and eventually finding her mother. So she set for the
coasts of Paris. Once in Sainte-Adresse, France, Esmeralda spent a lot of time
entertaining those at the harbor by day. By night, she wrote letters to the gypsies
that remained at the Court of Miracles to make sure they were alright. Since being
separated from her mother, they had been family to her.
One night, however, was different. She didn't receive a letter. So she tried to steal a
boat and take the Seine River back to Paris. Unfortunately, stealing the boat didn't
end so well. In a struggle, Esmeralda ended up falling into the ocean - where she
made another discovery. A red mermaid's tail.
At first, she thought she had gone crazy, but no. It was all real. Now unable to
reveal herself to the people who lived in Sainte-Adresse, Esmeralda swam and
swam to find help. The next morning, is when she makes it to Ivalice. A land of
magic and without prejudice - with people very similar to her.

Weakness:
Her sharp tongue and feisty nature often gets her into trouble.
Strengths:
She has the beauty and charisma to be a very good entertainer - possibly even a
famous one. On top of this, her independence and willing to stand up for herself
makes her a force to be reckoned with.
