Pale Raven x Crimson Queen

The moon hung heavy against the sky as the pale wolf moved through the Redwoods, her white raven flying overhead as she stopped short of the Stonehenge, heavy paws standing still against the cold earth. For the first time in months the Raven traveled alone, and in only the company of night, unseen by prying eyes, unknown to all around her. She had traveled far to be here now, to witness the phenomenon that called out so sweetly to her.
"Show yourself, child." the Raven spoke out, her tone low and rumbling. Her purple eyes would linger over to the shadow of another, smirking under baited breath. "I knew you'd be here, you felt it too."
As the large wolf spoke the raven that followed her flew to her side, stopping at her paws, awaiting the other's reply.
She kept to the shadows, eyes glowing as she scanned the terrain. One would think she was gazing through the land, but her sight was that of above, a large bird of prey soaring above the air. Her vision faltered as words were called out. The connection between her bond temporarily lost as the she focused on the white wolf approach.
“One can not keep hidden from you, can they Pale Raven?” The smooth talk of the tailess female stated.
“I did.” Crimson Queen said to the pale wolf, stepping from the shadows as her vulture bond perched on a thick branch above them. “It has been too long.” The seer hummed, eyes fixating just to the north of them towards the larger formation.
“No others are around, not yet at least. I suspect that won’t last for long.”
As a soft smirk crossed her pale face the wolf settled, sitting against her back haunches. "Never." Raven mused at the other's joke, glancing up that the Vulture that loomed above. "You're bonded now. You are growing stronger." her own raven was no Empath, and no matter how strong her bond with him was it could never outweigh the connection Queen now shared with her Empath. The Raven was proud, seeing her own progeny come this far.
"The visions have plagued me for weeks now, something so strong I've been unable to concentrate on anything other than this place." as she spoke the large wolf glanced over at Queen, smirking as she continued to speak. "The drumming nose inside my head has brought me here, to this most sacred place."
As she spoke Eyes, her raven ruffled his feathers, interjecting with a puzzled glance, "My Raven, this place is cursed, we must leave."
"Nonsense, curses are fables and fairy-tales, this place is something else completely." For a moment the white wolf simply sat, glancing at the Stonehenge from afar - something was coming, she could feel it in her chest, deep down in her bones.
“Never in my dreams would I have thought to have been bonded. He’s an a**” an indignant sound from the vulture above caused Queen to smirk before continuing, “but we have come to know each other more.”
Crimson Queen’s smirk fell as Pale Raven spoke of her visions. An unsettling weight traveling through her body as she remained standing whilst the other sat. “Likewise. I feel as if something big is coming.” Whether it was from this sacred land, or another afar, Queen could not pinpoint it. She was rather relieved another had felt the same. Did all seers share the same feeling too?
“The land has awaken.” Stark said from above, his voice gruff as he watched Stongehenge, ignoring the raven’s words. “Look,”
But Queen didn’t need to look, as her sight was already settled in the direction. “Shall we get a closer look, my dear friend?” She said to Pale Raven, a paw motioning her forward.
Eyes felt unsettled as his words of caution fell flat against the temptation before them, but rather than sit idly while his Mistress flitted with the dark magic here at play, he ruffled his feathers and took flight, speaking aloud, hovering over the trio. "I can not stay, I can not, this isn't right." as the raven spoke he glanced down at the pale wolf one last time, as if to silent/y beg her to flee. The corvine had been her oldest companion, and it pained him to leave her this way.
But this felt wrong. So very wrong.
As her raven flew off the large female stood, nodding at Queen's request. "I want to see this with my own eyes, let us enter the circle, let us see it with our own eyes."
She knew what it meant to enter such a place, the still air around them felt cold and stifled, riddled with hints of unease, yet they moved forward, until both wolves stood in the center of the Stonehenge. "What..." Raven's eyes narrowed as she struggled to make sense of what was happening before her every eyes, the unearthly colors blinding her in flashes of light that flickered quickly.
A shroud started to swell in the center of the circle as waves of mist pulled inward, sucking in the air around them so harshly the two wolves could hardly breath. "Move back." Raven commanded as she sheltered her gaze with a shoulder, wincing as powerful bursts of air sent her body back into Queen's.
Something was coming.
A blinding light flashed once before a fog started rolled in, stopping at the Seer's feet. For a moment Raven tried to regain her sight, blinking several times before speaking. "Are you alright?" as she spoke the older Seer turned to try to focus on Queen, wincing deeply as she regained her vision. Slowly she turned, facing that once blinding light once more.
Only now something far more prominent sat idle in the center of the Stonehenge, something that was borderline unbelievable.
"Queenie...." Raven muttered as her eyes went wide in awe. Never before had she seen something so beautifully haunting. What.... was this?
Soft swirls danced among the fog as the shimmering veil was lifted, allowing the two Seers to witness what lay beyond. It was something so stunning both wolves would be completely perplexed by it, bewildered beyond words. They stood silent and still, unable to comprehend what they were now witnessing.
Beyond the fog and light they could see a clearing that was cradled by thrones. Against that iridescent backdrop stood the figure of a masked creature, watching the pair silently. Who was this? What was this?
Crimson Queen’s ears pinned back as the raven seemed to get flustered. Her eyes narrowed as he spoke before turning her attention to her own companion. “Do you wish to follow suit, Stark?” She asked as a single small feather floated from the raven’s ascent.
The vulture shook his head. “I will merely stay here, but I will not travel with you near that area.”
The nub tailed female frown, shaking her head her own bond declined. “So be it. Watch our backs then.” She instructed the darker avian, following Pale Raven until both were in the center of the landmark. The colors were blinding, mesmerizing, lighting up the already bright purple hue of the Vileblood Queen’s eyes. The air around them became stagnant as Raven commanded her to move back. It was only when the paler form’s body collided with hers did she find herself regaining the movement of her paws, inching slowly away from the blinding light (for a queen did not scramble).
The gray female closed her eyes, still unable to hide the light that evaded the lands. When she opened them, the iridescent glimmer shined, showing a land in contrast to that of their own. Queen took a step forward, eyes locking to the masked figure, staring in awe.
“I…didn’t think this…” Her words drifted off as she stood tall, albeit still. “Does it match your dreams?” She found herself asking in a whisper.
"I've seen this face." the Raven spoke as her eyes settled on the masked creature, standing still and heavy against the younger female. "I know this face..." the silhouette shifted as long paws reached out from the other side, stepping closer to the Seer pair. The creature moved closer, walking until it stood just a few feet before them. As the mist and fog danced beneath their paws Pale Raven spoke, sizing up this new creature. It was long and elegant, otherworldly in a way she couldn't describe. "What.... are you?" Raven questioned, her voice low and muffled in slight fear.
"I am apart of you. I have always been. I will always be." this new wolf spoke, her eyes covered by a large horned mask. She was silver in the moonlight with a flowing tail that danced against the wind. The other was as tall as Raven, who was of Berserker blood, yet far more lean. Wisps of mane softly shifted against the wind as the masked wolf spoke once more. "The Veil has lifted, our two worlds have found one another once more, in this place we collide."
She felt as if she knew this creature, but Queenie was sure she had never met such a being before. And the mask she wore? Unworldly for their world. Then again, the land behind the shimmer was not of their world, was it. The almost shrouded area made beyond Stonehenge look darker.
“A part of her?” The younger seer could not help but tilt her head at the words of the newcomer. “The Veil?” The whispers in her mind subtly reminded her that what this other spoke was something perhaps Crimson Queen had seen before in her dreams. She felt a flutter in her body as she gaze into the unknown, before taking a small step backwards again.
“If our worlds have found each other once more, then are we in any danger?” The female asked the lithe being. She dare not move forward.
"There is no danger here, child. Gaze into the unknown with open eyes, it will gaze upon you with an open mind." the mysterious female nodded as she moved past the pair, speaking once more before vanishing into the shadows. "I've returned. We are whole again."
As quickly as she appeared she was gone, leaving the two Seers standing before the portal that hovered softly in the center of the Stonehenge. What they did next was up to them.
There is no danger here. While normally those words were some Crimson Queen would not believe, coming from this stranger made the seer feel more…at ease. She only nodded dumbly, as the unknown female walked past them, seeming to vanish in the shadows around them.
“We should not venture into this void.” Crimson Queen said after a moment, staring into the portal, observing the unknown. “Not yet.” She motioned for Pale Raven to back up to. “We will come back, we will bring our protectors. We will bring our most knowledgeable wolves, to learn what this Veil has to offer us.” She glanced at her friend. “Raven, what say you?”
As haunting and enticing as this desire was the Raven nodded in agreement. This was not the time to meddle in affairs she knew little of. They could regroup and gather back here soon. "I agree, we will return, geared and ready." As she spoke she moved herself away from the center of the Stonehenge, looking away in disbelief. "Let's go, bring your Vilebloods, I will gather my seers."
At her last words the pair left, fleeing from the Stonehenge, leaving this magical place. The Portal stood still against the wind, fading in and out softly, lighting up the Stonehenge and Redwoods. Something was coming, something they could never comprehend.
