☆ ☆【Zoey felt her bright smile widen that much more as Su Yan beamed in celebration of his first successful battle and Pokemon capture. Maybe he would’ve done a little victory dance as well, though the blind man didn’t really seem like the kind of person to do something like that. Nevertheless, the woman was happy to just bask in the celebratory aura, though as the heat of the moment gradually passed her smile gave way to a thoughtful look. From what she’d observed in that fight, turns out she hadn’t been just imagining it the first time when she’d noticed how the type matchups seemed to be reversed in this world. That Dig attack would have otherwise missed the Chatot completely in the real world, and yet it had actually been able to connect here… So apparently type immunities weren’t a thing here either, so per se a Normal or Fighting type would reasonably be able to hit a Ghost type and deal massive damage, a Dragon type could beat down a Fairy type pretty easily, and so on. Yet something else to keep in mind about these weird switcheroo type shenanigans going on with battles in this world... She shifted her gaze towards Su Yan as he agreed that this was world was indeed strange, then asked if the Chatot he’d caught would even exist when they left and returned to the real world. Now that he mentioned it, she had to wonder the same thing about that Heracross she’d caught earlier.
”Maybe? Guess we’ll find out for sure when we wake up then, eh?” she suggested with a thoughtful nod. Admittedly it would be pretty neat if the Pokemon they caught here ended up with them back in the real world, but then again it was hard to know for sure given the strangeness of this dream world. Pulling herself away from those thoughts for now but keeping them locked up tightly in the back of her head, Zoey went to retrieve the Pokegear that Su had dropped in the middle of the battle in lieu of protecting his ears from the loud, incessant chattering and made to hand it back. ”No problem,” she reciprocated in response to his thanks, waiting patiently for him to gather up the rest of his things and tend to Drunken Fist’s wounds. The woman reached into her bag for a potion, but decided against it since it seemed Su Yan had it more or less covered as he sprayed the Meleeon down with the medicine.
Once the Meleeon was back in tip top shape and had his guide harness secured firmly around him once again, they were ready to get going. However, their party paused briefly as Drunken Fist dropped the Heart Scale he’d collected from where the Chatot had been into Su Yan’s hands. The man takes a moment to carefully feel the smooth, heart-shaped scale between his fingers as if memorizing every detail of it, holding it up so she could get a better look at it. ”Ah, that’s called a Heart Scale,” she was happy to give a quick answer when he inquired what it was as he dropped it into his pocket, ”It’s used to teach yer Pokemon new moves, though how that exactly works… I honestly ain’t sure. It just does what it does, I guess.” She casually shrugged, gesturing for her Pokemon to follow along as they strolled forth once more. ”Maybe ya should try it out on one of yer Pokemon, apparently some of the moves those scales can teach ‘em are pretty damn strong,” she suggested, ”They’re also fairly easy to find too, so ye can gather up a good-sized stockpile of ‘em over time if ya really wanted to.” She admittedly probably had more Heart Scales than she knew what to do with herself, but it never hurt to have at least a couple extras laying around just in case, right?
A curious hum escaped her at Su Yan’s question of how long it might be until they reached that café, saying that after what had happened they certainly deserved a treat.”Did someone say treat??”Eir immediately piped up, the Alolan Ninetales eagerly bouncing on her paws as she pranced beside her trainer,”I want a whole baker’s dozen of cookies when we get there! No, no… actually make that TWO baker’s dozen, I’m feelin’ extra hungry right now!”Zoey chuckled softly, rolling her eyes somewhat at the ice fox’s rather extravagant request. ”Ya know yer gonna have to share if we get that many, yeah? Yer gonna get a tummyache if ya just stuff yerself silly with all that,” she chided, her tone playful yet carrying a hard serious undertone.
The Ninetales puffed her cheeks out indignantly at that, sticking her tongue out at her trainer as she tossed her head with a snort. Share her sweets? Perish the very thought!”Pft, as if! You probably can’t get tummyaches from dream cookies anyways,”she retorted, giving a dismissive sweep of her tails as she trotted along with her head held high. But for all of Eir’s childish bravado, she found herself quickly withering under the redheaded woman’s hard stare.”Oh alright, fine… I could share at least some of them, I guess…”she muttered, her stance deflating as she bowed in defeat, though it didn’t take long for her to bounce back,”I’m still getting the majority, though!”Zoey’s harsh glare softened as a light laugh left her lips, reaching down to playfully rub the fox between her ears. ”Sure, princess,” she answered simply, sniffing the air as the warm aromas of tea, coffee, and baked goods grew stronger and stronger, ”I’d wager we’re not that much further away, I think I can actually see it up ahead…”
Squinting a bit, sure enough she could make out the somewhat distant shape of what she was certain was the café as it seemed to be one of the only building-like structures around here. ”It looks like a really big treehouse from what I can see,” she said, trying to describe what the place looked like to her companion, ”Heh, it’s kinda cute, actually~ There’s even a neat lil’ sign shaped like a coffee mug!” The warm, homely aromas were definitely much stronger now, she felt like she was back home in Ula’ula helping her Amá and Azhé’é as they made homemade malasadas for dessert on the stove. A lot of the ones made in the really popular shops were often expensive and far from what they could afford, but making malasadas from scratch had always been a special family occasion. It wasn’t that often that they did so, but when they did everyone took part in it. She could still vividly remember feeling Azhé’é’s thin hands on her own as he helped her knead the dough, the kindly smile on Amá’s weathered face as she happily offered a golden morsel that was fresh out of the pan. She unconsciously breathed out a wistful sigh, gesturing out towards the structure that was growing closer and closer with each step. ”Shall we then?” she suggested, unable to help but feel quite eager for something sweet herself.】☆ ☆

He wasn’t happy with the idea of not knowing if the Pokemon would come back to the real world after all this. He had gone through so much to get her and the thought of his hard work and the first battle being rendered useless was a depressing one. One that, at least momentarily, seemed to get Su Yan down as his smile falters for a moment. But, it returns after a brief moment as he tries his best to tell himself the, even if it didn’t come back with him to the real world, he faced his fears, making the next encounter, whatever it may be, easier in the long run. So, for now, he leaves the fainted Chatot resting in the pokeball and intends to move forward. He felt better about himself, and about traveling with Zoey, at least in this strange world. So he gives her this thanks for the retrieved Pokegear and moves on.
Zoey explains to him what a heart scale does. Learn a bunch of new moves huh? Strong new moves? That seemed like a really resourceful item, especially for a contest that relied on a vast array of moves to be successful. Su Yan thinks about it, Drunken Fist had fought so hard to obtain it. Wouldn’t it make sense to allow the Pokemon to do use it, after all he had gone to great lengths for it. He would think about it, maybe once they were sitting at the cafe he could try and figure out how to use it.
Su Yan is rather quiet as he listens to the back and forth between the fox and her trainer. They seemed like a rather close pair, and Su Yan could only hope he could attain that sort of relationship with his own Pokemon in due time even if it might be harder for him to tell if he had done so, due to his Pokemon's seeming inability to talk. As they got closer to the cafe the smell got stronger, oh, how he loved the smell of freshly ground coffee. Despite it being a strong and sobering smell it was one he loved all the same.
Zoey even describes it for him, allowing him to try and picture it in his mind.
“A treehouse? That does sound cute.” as he pictures a sort of treehouse, with a coffee mug shaped signs, small, white-clothed tables lining the walls of a rustic style interior. Of course, this was just his own visualization and fantasy. “Yes, we shall” with that Drunken Fist kicks into a trot, pulling Su Yan the rest of the way, perhaps even beating Zoey to the stairs, but she would have had the chance to catch up as he has to take his time with the stairs, feeling the lip of each one with his cane. Once inside he is lead to the counter where he orders a coffee, one for now and a few chilled bottles for the road, along with a sort of berry juice for his pokemon to enjoy. Su Yan pays with his card and waits for the items he purchased while Zoey orders her things. Once they were both served they are lead to a small table on the balcony, in the fresh air.
Su Yan places the larger bowl on the ground near his feet, where both Happy and Drunken Fist gathers to start happily drinking as he nurses his coffee.
“This is nice.” he is calm now, content. ”Zoey, if you don’t mind may I uh-... ask for your phone number?” he reaches into his pocket once again to pull out his pokegear, it was obviously something he relied heavily on, even for it being a very recent model it looked used enough. “I’m not sure if it will still be there after we wake up. But, I would love to stay in touch after all this. Maybe you can see me compete sometime. “ he pulls the screen up and passes the phone over to Zoey, making an assumption she could navigate it semi alright, though every button she pressed would result in a mechanical voice reading back the text of any button pressed.

☆ ☆【The way Su Yan’s bright smile falters for a brief moment doesn’t go unnoticed by Zoey, which was understandable given the uncertainty of how this odd dream world worked and if they would be able to keep any Pokemon they caught in the meantime. A part of her really hoped so, but at the same time she felt that maybe it would be best to not get her hopes up too high. Otherwise she’d just be setting herself up for what could be potential major disappointment later. Still, they wouldn’t know the answer to that for sure until they finally woke up. At the very least Su Yan is able to bounce back from the momentary disappointment, and overall seemed to be feeling much more confident in himself after learning what she’d had to offer and actually succeeding on his first actual encounter and battle. Zoey certainly felt proud of him too, was this how it felt for teachers to watch their students doing well at their lessons? Well, either way, after taking a moment to help Su with retrieving his fallen Pokegear they were ready to keep pushing onwards through this garden maze.
When he asks her what the stone-like thing Drunken Fist had given him after beating the Chatot was, Zoey is more than happy to explain what she knew about Heart Scales. Of course, since Su Yan was going into coordinating in the near future these kinds of things would certainly be useful. She certainly couldn’t claim to know all that much when it came to contests, but being able to teach Pokemon new moves would surely be quite handy for coordinating as it was for battling. Su Yan seems deep in thought as she finishes her explanation, as if contemplating on what exactly he should do with the Heart Scale. Of course, he’d have pretty much all the time in the world to figure that out, in the meantime Zoey was quite eager to check out that café place Orpheus had mentioned being at the end of this maze after Su suggested they stop in for a treat. Eir was all too eager to agree, though that was to be expected given the Alolan Ninetales enormous sweet tooth. Two baker’s dozen worth of cookies was a hell of a whole lot, but Zoey was glad that she was able to talk down the fox into sharing with the others because she sure as hell wasn’t going to let Eir eat them all by herself. The smell of roasting coffee and baked goods grew stronger and stronger as they kept going, and Zoey couldn’t help but feel a little hungry. How long had it been since she’d entered this dream world, exactly? Was it even possible to feel hunger in a dream anyways? There were a good few questions she had about all of this, but it didn’t seem like any solid answers would become clear anytime soon. As what she can only assume is the aforementioned café looms into view up ahead, Zoey can’t help but admire the rather charming aesthetics of the place from the treehouse look to the cute little sign resembling a coffee mug. Jeez, she wished she’d had a treehouse that looked anywhere near as cool as that when she’d been much younger since there’d been plenty of palm trees around the trailer park… Those could be used to make a good treehouse, right? She smiled and nodded as Su Yan shared her sentiments, though he couldn’t actually see it for himself surely her description at least provided a good mental picture for him to get a feel for the general appearance.
”Whoa!” Zoey exclaimed as Drunken Fist immediately took off, making a beeline towards the café with Su Yan in tow. The woman and her threesome quickly moved their feet to catch up with their companions just as their party finally reached the bottom of the stairs that looked like a rope bridge leading up towards the entrance of the café. ”Heh, well someone’s eager~” she teased lightly with a chuckle, allowing her blind companion to proceed up the stairs first since it would take him some time to climb them. Zoey follows after them, maintaining a careful pace slightly behind Su Yan so that she’d be able to catch him in case he might accidentally trip himself up and fall while he felt his way up each step. Thankfully nothing of the sort happens, and they make their way inside the café which she now sees is being tended to by a bunch of Pokemon. While Su Yan orders himself a coffee, berry juice for his Pokemon, and some extra bottles to take along, Zoey smiles as an Audino chirps curiously up at her from behind the counter. ”Aw, well ain’t ya just adorable,” the woman coos, resting her hand on the smooth polished wooden surface, ”I’d like two baker’s dozen worth of cookies, please. Whatever kinds ya’ve got available. Oh, and a tall glass of Moomoo milk, please n’ thank ya~”
The Audino blinked, the normally curled feelers on its ears straightening a little in surprise at the rather large order. Even a few other Pokemon who seemed to be working back in the kitchen area peered out from the doorway in curiosity. Immediately the Audino turned towards the others, making a series of noises as if directing them to get on with putting the order together. ”Ya want anythin’, Orph?” she inquired, passing on the question to the Zoroark as she pulled out her wallet to pay up.”Certainly~ I’d simply like a cup of Lady Grey with two sugars, please,”he chipped in, feeling that getting something to eat would be a bit redundant given that there’d be plenty of cookies to go around. After Zoey hands over a small wad of cash to pay for everything, a Munchlax pops out from the kitchen carrying a wide platter laden with cookies of various kinds from sugar to dark chocolate with mint chips and a few plates for sharing. The warm, heavenly smell hit Zoey like a ton of bricks, it was as if they’d come fresh right out of the oven. Eir’s eager bouncing beside her only increased in speed, the Ninetales practically drooling at the sight of such a large and lovely looking cookie platter.
With their orders set, their party was lead out onto the balcony where a table waited for them. Given that there were only two chairs, however, a helpful Comfey was happy to pull up an extra one for Orpheus to sit as everyone got settled in. Zoey divvied up some of the cookies onto the plates provided for them, making sure Eir got a good-sized portion as she set it down onto the ground by her feet for the Ninetales to enjoy. The Zoroark reached out to grab a couple of what looked like almond shortbread cookies with sweet jam in the center, and while Coltrane didn’t seem particularly hungry for sweets he was content to accept a sugar cookie when Zoey offered it to him. Suddenly, as if summoned by the smell of food, a bright red beam shot out of one of the Pokeballs on the woman’s belt as Ingrid saw fit to let herself out right then and there. The black Meleeon turned about-face where she stood and fixed her trainer with a thoroughly unimpressed glare as if to say ‘You guys got food and didn’t think to invite me? Wow, rude’. ”Ah, sorry ‘bout that, elskling. Here ya go,” the woman chuckled as she made to quickly amend the minor oversight, piling more cookies onto another plate and setting it down. Ingrid made a curt chuffing sound in thanks, padding over and eagerly digging into her share with a pleased growl. Seemed like all was forgiven, for now at least…
Biting into a chocolate chip, Zoey hummed contentedly as she let herself lean back in her seat, taking in the relaxing atmosphere as they ate and drank together. Her eyes flit back over curiously towards Su Yan as he speaks up, asking if he could have her phone number as he pulled out his Pokegear. While he wasn’t entirely sure if it would still be there when they finally woke up, he said he would like to stay in touch when this was over and suggested she could come to watch him compete sometime. The temptation to give a joking ‘No’ answer crept on the tip of her tongue, but she held herself back from saying it aloud. Knowing what she did so far, Su Yan likely wouldn’t take it to be a joke until she explicitly said it was, and she didn’t want to put a damper on his good mood for the sake of a little humor. ”Sure, man, I’d like that,” she reciprocated brightly with a grin, reaching out and accepting the Pokegear from him as he hands it over, ”And hey, if for some reason my number disappears after this is over, I can just give it to ya again whenever we meet up in the real world.”
Actually navigating her way through the Pokegear admittedly took a moment for her to really figure out as it was quite different to handle compared to the Xtransceiver she had, but the visuals of the buttons on the screen made it easy for her to determine what was what. It was clearly already set to the phone screen from the looks of it, which saved her a fair deal of trouble actually trying to get to it. Her fingers moved about as she input the numbers for her contact info, flinching somewhat as the robotic voice blared at her from the speakers upon hitting the first numeral. ”Haaa… That’s gonna take some gettin’ used to,” she murmured, though inputting the rest of it was easy enough since she knew now to expect the voice to read each one back to her.”Zoey Larsson added to contact list,”the device announced as the new information was entered. The woman in turn quickly input Su’s number into her Xtransceiver before handing the Pokegear back over to him. ”There ya go! If ya ever have any questions or, hell, if ya just wanna talk feel free to hit me up whenever. I accept both calls n’ text messages~” she said with a light laugh, briefly grabbing for her glass to take a small swig of milk.
”I actually do plan to be around in Sinnoh sometime soon. Mostly gonna be there for the gym challenges, but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for ya too while I’m there,” the woman hummed softly as she reached for another cookie, a snickerdoodle this time, ”And please, definitely let me know when ya plan to compete for a contest. I’d love to come watch n’ cheer ya on from the sidelines~” Of course, she did have plans to stop over in Kanto, Johto, and probably Hoenn too to do gyms before then, but maybe she could hop over to Sinnoh much sooner instead. She was pretty flexible, after all, and being able to fly would make traveling between regions that much easier. Although she’d have to make special note to stop by Lavaridge in the near future to check in and visit with her family for a bit, and also to give her sweet little sister her gift. She’d worry about all that when it came time for it, though, right now she was happy to just take in the comforting atmosphere and share good food and good company with her compatriots.
”Yo, Su Yan, I was actually wonderin’… Were there certain kinds of contests that ye were thinkin’ of gettin’ into with yer coordinatin’ career? Or were ya thinkin’ of tryin’ a bit of each type n’ see what really appeals to ya from there?” she asked, unable to help but feel a bit curious as to what her companion actually wanted to do with his future career. In hindsight, she probably should’ve asked Mitsu that same question back at the Spookival… Maybe she’d get the chance to talk to him a bit more about it sometime, whenever they might see each other again at least.】☆ ☆

He can hear Zoey order a very large amount of food. It’s a little strange to him but, perhaps she had Pokemon who wanted all that food. He was simply fine with his coffee and preferred the bitter to the overly sweet anyway, and he made an assumption that his pokemon preferred the same. He waits for Zoey to get her items, hearing the calls of various pokemon as her items are brought over. Once she has them Drunken Fist leads them out onto the balcony where he can stir in a little creamer to his coffee and start to enjoy it. Zoey divides up the cookies and everyone seems happy and content. It was nice. As his coffee cooled he took a sip, oh how he missed coffee, and here the taste seemed a bit elevated? Perhaps that was just the work of this strange dreamland.
He hands his Pokegear over to Zoey asking for her number and hears her pressing buttons and, after perhaps a moment or two it dings, says her number was registered and after another moment it is handed back.
” Meet up in the real world…” he parrots. Yeah. That sounded nice. “Well, if you are planning to go to Sinnoh too, maybe we will run into each other, who knows.” he takes another long sip of the coffee and leans back a bit in his chair. “And, I guess to thank you for helping me out… I have a place in Johto if you are ever in the area and need a place to stay for some reason. Though most neighbors are elderly and ornery, so it depends on how you feel about that.”
Happy looks up from the juice to a rustling of bushes, where a small, bipedal purple pokemon waddles out and happily sits near the large dish on the ground. They start to also enjoy the Berry Juice. Happy looks at it and squeaks, moving to hide behind Drunken Fist who recognized the strange new Pokemon as a child and thus say no threat from it, even using his leg to push Happy back toward it. Happy brushes paws over the top of his head nervously, though, before long the starting contest between the two Pokemon ends and the two of them start to happily share the juice.
Meanwhile, Su Yan is thinking about the newest question Zoey has presented him with. It’s an interesting one. Su Yan had never considered which type he wanted to specialize in if any. The idea of being some contest superstar in all categories was a tempting one it wasn’t a very realistic goal, now was it? So he has to think about it, blind eyes staring at the rustling trees behind Zoey, and slender fingers tapping at the mug, creating soft ‘tinking’ noises in a rhythm as he thought. ” Ah….” he hums as he thinks. Perhaps he should think about the Pokemon he currently had him and go from there.
” Well, Happy seems cute, from what I've experienced, so Maybe ill start there and see how well he does. I want to do whatever category will help my Pokemon stand out the best” That was surely something even a trainer could understand. Wanting their Pokemon to perform at that best, and giving them their best shot at doing so. ” What uh- What about you? Is there a certain league you want to challenge? Is there a purpose behind the pokemon training?” he wants to know a little more about his companion? Mentor?
The berry juice is finished, and now, this purple pokemon and Happy are playing, chasing each other around on the balcony, until suddenly Happy crashes right into the soft (and cold) fur of Eir, causing the purple pokemon to skid to a stop and Happy to rub his paws on his head again, obviously afraid of angering the larger pokemon.

☆ ☆【As promised, Zoey put in the order for two baker’s dozen worth of cookies, much to the surprise and bewilderment of the Pokemon crew working the counter of the café. In spite of the fairly grand scale of the request, they are able to put together a large platter full of various kinds of cookies that they bring out alongside her glass of Moomoo milk and Orpheus’s tea. Food and drinks in hand, their company head out to find a table so they can sit down and enjoy their treats. Drunken Fist takes them over to one that happens to be situated on the balcony, and after a helpful Comfey pulls up an extra chair for Orpheus they all take their seats and dig in. Zoey separates out the cookies into different portions for each of her Pokemon, with the majority going to Eir and Ingrid, who just happened to pop out of her Pokeball unexpectedly to join them after apparently smelling the food. Coltrane seemed content to just sit by, keeping careful watch while they ate and occasionally eating a cookie when it was offered to him. As Zoey bit into her first cookie, she was pleasantly surprised by how warm and deliciously sweet it was, a little crunchy on the outside yet soft in the middle. Maybe it was just how this odd dream world worked, but the cookies tasted a bit sweeter and more delectable here. Even the milk seemed creamier when she took a sip to wash it down.
She is admittedly a little surprised when Su Yan asks for her number, but she is more than happy to give it to him as she takes the proffered Pokegear and types in her number. The robotic voice repeating each number she pressed startled her somewhat at first, having momentarily forgotten that Su’s Pokegear was voice automated since he couldn’t exactly see all the different buttons and screens. Still, it was hardly much of an issue once she knew to expect it, and after successfully inputting her number in she puts his number into her Xtransceiver before handing it back over. Of course there was the uncertainty of if their numbers would stay in each other’s devices after they woke up, since this was a dream and all. They wouldn’t know for sure until they finally woke up, after all, but even if the numbers ended up disappearing they could always do it again when they met up with each other in the real world.
Zoey smiles warmly as Su Yan seems pleased with the prospect of them possibly meeting up outside of this dream world, suggesting that they might just run into each other since she had plans to head to Sinnoh sometime soon. She blinks curiously as he went on to say that as thanks for helping him, she could stay over at his place in Johto if she ever found herself in the area. ”Oh? Invitin’ a stranger over to yer house already? How bold~” she chips in with a chuckle, unable to help making the playful remark, ”But hey, I really appreciate it, man. I’ll definitely keep that in mind whenever I’m around in Johto, so thanks for that. I assume ya live in… Ecruteak, yeah? Or at least somewhere ‘round that general area?” He had mentioned the Kimono Girls quite a bit earlier, and knowing that the theater where they performed was located in Ecruteak she could only assume that he was from around there. It seemed like a pretty nice city from what she’d read about it, not to mention she’d definitely end up going there sooner or later when she was strong enough to battle Morty for his badge.
She chuckled, casually dismissing his comment about most of the neighbors being elderly and ornery. ”Hey, I’ve dealt with much, much worse before, somehow I think a buncha cranky ol’ folks would hardly be that bad in comparison,” she assured with a grin, though her voice didn’t seem to quite carry that same kind of bright humor that it usually did. She was pretty quick to bounce back, though, as she nodded to him. ”And hey, dunno if yer plannin’ on bein’ ‘round in Hoenn at all, but yer welcome to drop by n’ visit me in Lavaridge if ya ever find yerself in the area,” she offered, ”I kinda do still live with my folks right now, but the house is usually pretty quiet overall n’ the neighborhood’s pretty nice. And the hot springs are only a stone’s throw away if ya wanna just go take a dip n’ relax,” she went on, pausing to take another bite of cookie, ”We have a guest room that pretty much never gets used, like, ever. And trust me, me n’ my dads will take good care o’ ya if ya ever need somewhere to stay for a bit.” Of course, Su Yan didn’t have to take her up on that if he didn’t want to or didn’t feel comfortable, but she figured it was only fair since he’d been willing to show such kind hospitality to her.
As they continued to relax and eat, Zoey makes a bit more small talk as she asked what exactly Su planned to do with his future career as a coordinator. She was honestly curious to learn a bit more about her companion and what he was hoping to accomplish when he got his start with contests. Su Yan took a bit to think on it, Zoey content to wait as she took a long sip of her milk, the chair creaking a little as she shifted her weight into a more comfortable position. When he finally starts to speak again, the woman listens intently as he mentioned that Happy seemed pretty cute from what he experienced so far, so perhaps he’d start out with those kinds of contests to gauge how well he did and then go from there. She hummed and nodded as he said he wanted to do whatever category would help his Pokemon stand out the best, which was definitely understandable. He wanted to ensure that his Pokemon performed their best, and wanted to do so in such a way to make sure their talents really shine through. ”Yeah, I definitely get that, it’s pretty much the same thing for trainers too, wantin’ to be sure yer Pokemon can really do their best,” she agreed, ”It’ll probably take time n’ practice for ya to really know where yer Pokemon’s strengths n’ weaknesses are, but once ya get a good idea ye can really get the ball rollin’ from there.”
Her lips pursed thoughtfully as Su Yan reflected the question back at her, asking if there was a certain league she wanted to challenge and if there was a reason behind the Pokemon training. ”Ya know… To be honest with ya, I don’t really know for sure yet,” she admitted, fingers drifting away from the glass and drumming a bit on the table, ”I mean, I might consider shootin’ for the league in Alola later down the line, but it ain’t really a major goal that I’m absolutely pushin’ to accomplish, y’know?” Her gaze drifts a bit, looking a bit past her companion and towards the scenery beyond. ”I know it probably sounds a lil’ silly to be on a Pokemon journey n’ challengin’ gyms just for the hell of it, but I think that by doin’ this maybe I can figure out what I really want out of this whole thing,” she continues with a shrug, ”I guess the main thing I’m hopin’ to do right now is try to improve myself as a person, start anew with a fresh slate n’ go from there. Bondin’ with Pokemon, meetin’ new folks n’ maybe makin’ new friends, explorin’ new places I’ve never been before, all that good stuff n’ whatnot, y’know?”
As Zoey and Su Yan talked, Coltrane kept his eyes on their surroundings in case more potentially dangerous wild Pokemon might try to ambush them. Of course it seemed unlikely, given how peaceful the area around the café seemed to be in particular, but it was better to be safe than sorry as far as the Lycanroc was concerned. He glances up upon hearing a rustling noise from the nearby bushes, immediately standing up and taking on a defensive stance in preparation for a battle. Instead of some large, dangerous looking creature bursting out of the brush as he expected, a little purple Pokemon waddles out towards them and takes a seat next to the large bowl of berry juice that Happy and Drunken Fist are sharing. Blinking in bewilderment, the rock wolf kept his green gaze on the new Pokemon for a moment. It seemed like it was a child, and was likely of very little if any threat to them at all from how friendly it appeared to be. Still… if it was a baby, then surely its parent or parents would be somewhere close by as well. Happy and Drunken Fist didn’t seem to mind sharing their treat with the little Pokemon after a bit of hesitance on the Cyndaquil’s part, and with that Coltrane lets his stance relax as he sits back down in his spot. He still keeps a careful eye on them, wary of what might happen if this baby Pokemon’s parent(s) happened to stumble across them as well.
Eir is more than content to happily enjoy her treats, humming brightly and wagging her tails in approval at how tasty these cookies were. So delicious! Was it because of them being in a dream world that they tasted a lot better than cookies usually did? Well, regardless she was already feeling relaxed and content after that whole ordeal of being lost and separated from Zoey earlier. Heck, maybe she ought to get lost more often if it meant she could be treated more like this! Although that… probably wasn’t quite as good an idea as it sounded, she would hate to make her trainer worry so much over and over again. But she pushed those thoughts away for now, grabbing another cookie from her plate and eagerly devouring it, not noticing the new company that they suddenly had in their midst. At least until she felt something small and soft bump into her flank, her ears perking a bit as she turned to see who had just crashed into her, which just so happens to be Happy. The Cyndaquil immediately recoils a bit, rubbing his paws on his head nervously as he quickly apologized.”Aw, it’s okay, lil’ guy! Are you alright? You’re not hurt, are you?”the ice fox asks, a hint of concern in her voice as she eyes the little mouse. Of course, between her thick fur and the impact not being all that major it was highly doubtful he’d been injured at all, but she couldn’t help but feel a little worried. Slender fingers continue to tap at the mug his coffee was in, and can’t help but laugh a bit at her response, as if she would be able to do anything unsavory at his home. The amount of attendees crawling around would make that almost impossible. Even Su Yan felt like he had little privacy there at times, though what else could he do? It’s not like he can live alone in the proper sense now could he? It was one of the many annoyances of being blind. You know, on top of the whole being unable to see, people commenting on disfiguring scars and in general feeling helpless in normal everyday situations.
“Ecruteak. Yeah. I’ve lived there my entire life. My mother was working there when I was born, and throughout childhood, then after the uh... “ what did he call it? Attack? Accident? He had never really put a word to it like that before. So there’s a rather long pause before he continues. “Attack, I guess. Trainer’s charizard.” he’s opening up about it, it seems. But perhaps it will help her understand his apprehension, how he came to be this way. Still, he runs his fingers through his hair and sits back, before continuing. “So I grew up there. Mom went to Kanto for a project two years ago and I wanted to stay behind, so I live in one of those uh… assisted living places. My neighbors don’t like me all too much, something about me not being old enough to be there.” he laughed a bit at the thought, mostly to hide the embarrassment of him needing the same level of care as someone in their 80s. But thankfully the conversation moves forward.
“Hoenn? Well ill probably be heading there after I finish up in Sinnoh.” her hometown sounded lovely. A natural hot spring? That alone gave him reason to want to visit. Bath houses and onsens were nice, yes, but every one located in Ecruteak was man-made, due to a lack of natural springs in the city. ” Well with a description like that I will have to visit, now won’t I?” he takes a long drag from his coffee and angles his head downward where Drunken Fist was making it known they had finished their treat, leaving him to rub a hand around the Pokemon's ears instead. “Your dads sound nice, It was just me and my mom growing up… how long have you known them?” he asks, knowing that she was most likely brought into that home at some point instead of being born into it. He had to say, it was nice to hear adoption stories…
Zoey tells him she is perhaps has little idea what she wants to do in her journey, or have her journey accomplish for her. Though it seems like a rather standard statement. Many people, even trainers struggled to figure out what they wanted to do. Even if they did know, they could be like him and have been far too depressed to get out and chase those dreams. So he can’t judge her too much on that front, especially since she does come up with something, even if it is a bit on the spot. The Alola league seemed like a good goal, Su Yan had never been, but perhaps he could go someday. It sounded like a rather nice region after all. By this time the coffee isn’t cutting it, so he reaches in his bag for a small baggie of edamame.
”Well, if you’re unsure, maybe you can participate in a contest sometime. I am sure some of them would enjoy it” He automatically thinks of the Zoroark, who had admitted to being a performer. It might be good to help him get back out there, y’know? ”Who knows, maybe since you taught me how to battle and catch a pokemon I can teach you how to participate in a contest, once I learn myself of course.”
Happy still felt a bit nervous around the larger pokemon. She kinda looked like the pokemon that was his dad, but white, and cold., that was before he was taken from the nest and balled up to be given to new trainers, of course. But despite that she seemed friendly. Friendly like his new trainer, he was making many new friends today. So he looks back at the purple pokemon who stands next to him as they talk to the icey fox.
”No I’m not hurt ma’am!” the pokemon’s voice was squeaky, young, obviously, and for the moment he drops on all fours, the vents on his back spitting small bits of flame, though they were flickers of life.They would not be fully realized until he could use a fire type move. Eir asked about the pokemon next to him and he looks. ” Yeah! I just made this friend! His mom is picking berries right now. So we are playing chase. “ As that’s said they both stand upright and look ready to bolt. “But if you want to play you’re it! the cyndaquil squeaks before dropping on all fours and running under the table, under his trainers chair, and away, the purple pokemon in tow, both squealing delight.

☆ ☆【The wide grin on Zoey’s face broadens a tad as Su Yan laughs a little at her joking comment of him being quite brave to invite a ‘stranger’ to his house. Although he might’ve been amused by it for… likely different reasons than just finding it humorous she didn’t think about it too much regardless. It was really just nice to see him smiling, laughing, relaxing, and overall enjoying himself. Besides, it wasn’t like she was planning on doing anything fishy, for one it would be plain rude to go into someone’s house just to start stealing their s**t. And for two, she knew better than to betray the trust of someone who was willing to give her permission to stay with them at their place. It was still a little strange, if she had to be honest… usually those kinds of privileges were reserved only for friends and beyond. Did Su Yan maybe think of her as a friend? At this point she honestly wasn’t sure how to describe their relationship… Maybe not quite friends, yet at least… probably more like fairly close acquaintances at best. Still, they were having pretty casual conversation together and slowly getting to know more about each other over time, so it was a good start overall as far as she was concerned.
She listened quietly, taking small sips of her milk as Su Yan confirmed her suspicions of him living in Ecruteak City, for his entire life, actually. She couldn’t help noticing the lack of any mention of his father as he went into a bit more detail, perhaps he had died or maybe left before Su had been born? Questions lingered on the tip of her tongue, which she swallowed along with another bite of cookie in favor of letting him continue talking as he pauses for a bit before going on. She winced as he then spoke about the attack, apparently perpetrated by a trainer’s Charizard. Well… that would certainly explain the burns, for starters… But at the same time she could see that his hesitance to trust her Pokemon had certainly been far from unfounded, surely he felt the same way around another trainer’s Pokemon just in general. And in all fairness, she couldn’t blame him. ”s**t…” the swear left her lips on principle before she gave what she was going to say any further thought, her lips pulled into a deep frown, ”I’m… really sorry to hear that happened to ya…” She took a deep breath, schooling her expression into something a bit more neutral. ”But hey, it’s definitely good that yer willin’ to move past what happened to keep chasin’ yer dreams in spite of everythin’,” she added, offering a small smile to inject a bit of optimism, ”Some people, when they go through things like that… sometimes they just never really move past it, y’know?” Sometimes people didn’t get that push they needed to move on from the awful things that happened to them, their dreams utterly crushed along with their spirit… Nothing to look forward to, just letting life roll by hoping for something to happen that might not ever come. What an absolutely hellish life that would be… Zoey couldn’t help but wonder where she might be at this point if she’d never moved on from what happened with Lee, if she’d just kept going on making one shitty decision after another and never managing to recover from hitting the pit of rock bottom.
Shaking her head, she chased those thoughts away and focused on the sound of Su Yan’s voice as he continued speaking, saying how his mother left to work on a project in Kanto while he stayed behind in Johto in an assisted living facility. The woman laughed a little at the mention of his neighbors not liking him very much on the basis of him not being old enough to live there. ”Huh, guess even ol’ folks can’t help flauntin’ their superiority through seniority. It’s like bein’ in high school all over again,” she commented with a grin. Maybe that was what he’d meant when he’d described his elderly neighbors as being ‘ornery’ earlier. If his neighbors didn’t like him then she highly doubted they’d like her much either, even though she was at least a fair bit older she was certainly far from being considered a senior citizen.
The conversation kept on rolling from there as Zoey offered for Su Yan to come visit and stay at her and her folks’ place in Lavaridge, figuring it was only fair since he’d been kind enough to volunteer his house for her to stay in. Her eyes brightened as he mentioned that he might be heading to Hoenn after he finished up his contest business in Sinnoh. ”Heh, well I’d certainly hope so! Contests are pretty popular there too, it’s probably worth a visit just for that alone,” she said with a chuckle, nodding in agreement as he suggested that based on her description he’d have to visit. She smiles warmly as he said that her dads sound nice, further confirming her suspicions from before at the mention of it being just him and his mom growing up. ”A pretty long time by now, actually… About 20 years n’ countin’ I’d say. The Larssons are actually the second family I’ve been adopted into, but I’ve been with ‘em the longest by far,” she says, worrying at her bottom lip thoughtfully, ”It’s a pretty good-sized family between myself, my dads n’ my three siblings. ‘Course things ain’t always perfect between us, we’ve had our own share o’ hardships n’ rough patches through all those years. But we manage to tough it out n’ still be happy together in the end, y’know?”
Tapping her fingers against her milk glass with a series of light ‘tink’ sounds, Zoey tilts her head curiously as her gaze drifts out towards the expanse of the garden maze they’d come from in the distance before returning to Su Yan. ”Yer mom sounds pretty nice too… Ya still keep in touch with her while she’s away in Kanto? Does she come back to Ecruteak to visit ya sometimes?” she inquired, a bit curious to know a little more about her companion’s relationship with the only parent he had growing up. All things considered, it sounded like they had a pretty good familial relationship with each other. Most likely a far cry from the broken and absolutely toxic relationship she’d had with her own biological mother… The woman’s fingers unconsciously tightened around the glass in her hand as a spike of envy struck her chest, taking a deep breath and slowly easing her grip as she exhaled. No need to think about any of that now… Just breathe, let out all those negative thoughts and emotions with the outgoing air…
As they keep talking, Zoey admittedly feels a bit embarrassed to admit that she wasn’t entirely sure of what she wanted to do on her Pokemon journey when Su Yan poses the question to her. She felt a bit jealous that her companion seemed to have his goals already laid out for him, he actually had something in mind that he wanted to achieve, a kind of end destination that his journey would eventually lead to. Meanwhile she was out here just sort of wandering around from place to place with no clear, absolute goal in mind and just doing more or less whatever along the way. Of course, there was always the league in Alola… Even then that probably wouldn’t be her ultimate goal that she was striving to achieve, it was at least something that would make all of this badge collecting and training that much more meaningful in the end. She notices Su Yan reach into his bag and pull something out, which upon closer view appeared to be a small bag full of edamame. Likely something for him to snack on while he continued nursing his coffee, Zoey had thought to offer him one of the cookies but maybe he wasn’t a sweets kind of guy.
She hums, cocking her head a bit as she contemplates Su Yan’s suggestion of possibly participating in a contest sometime. ”Yeah? Well, I ain’t much of a contest kinda gal myself. But sure, I think it’d be nice to try somethin’ a bit different from all the battles n’ gym challenges,” she agrees, reaching a free hand up to tap at her chin. She grins toothily as Su Yan offers to possibly teach her about contests and how they work, since she had mentored him on how to battle and catch a Pokemon. ”Sounds like a good deal to me!” she happily chips in, ”Maybe while I’m around in Sinnoh ye can teach me a thing or two about how the whole contest deal works, and I could try one out for myself too!” Her gaze drifted over towards the Zoroark who sat close by, quietly listening to their conversation while he occasionally plucked a cookie from the tray and sipped delicately at his tea. ”Whaddya think? Would ya be interested in maybe tryin’ out a contest sometime, Orph?” she asked, knowing that out of all of her Pokemon he would likely be the most enthusiastic about the idea since he was a pretty talented performer.
”It certainly sounds like it could be quite the fun experience! I am admittedly not much of a fighter, and I have been hoping to return to the performing scene sometime… Perhaps this could be the big break I need to do just that,”the Zoroark speaks up, a wide grin crossing his muzzle as he raised his teacup agreeably. His smile wavered a little as he realized that he knew basically next to nothing about how contests worked. Sir Armond had been a performer, yes, but he hadn’t been that kind of performer. The venues they’d performed at were largely musical stages, from seedy bars tucked among narrow alleyways one ought to not be caught traversing alone to grand cabaret halls hosting grand parties for high class fancy-pants sort of folk. The idea of contests and coordinators was admittedly beyond the scope of Orpheus’s knowledge, though he supposed that wouldn’t be much of an issue if Su Yan was indeed going to teach them the ropes.”Although… I believe I too will need to learn more about how these contests work, as well as which ones would be best suited for me to be able to put on a truly stellar performance,”he admitted, sheepishly combing through his hair as he looked down into his cup at the deep amber liquid inside.
Eir was caught a bit off guard when the Cyndaquil suddenly crashed into her, and upon turning her undivided attention to him it was clear he was nervous as he quickly squeaked out an apology. Which was understandable, given how much larger she was in comparison to him and him still being quite young. Still, he seemed to ease up a little when she cheerfully dismissed the accidental mishap and asked if he was okay. He looked more or less alright on the outside, and he reassured her that he wasn’t hurt much to her relief. The ice fox watched in fascination as small spurts of flame shot out from the holes on the little mouse’s back. It reminded her of how that really smoky mountain back in Hoenn occasionally emitted little bursts of fire and lava… something she’d never really seen up close and personal back in Alola. At her query of his apparent new companion, Happy mentioned that he had just made this new friend and that they were playing chase since his mother was out picking berries.”Oh how nice! Do you think she’ll come to join us soon too?”she inquired, her eyes bright with curiosity as her tails wagged eagerly.
”Be careful, big s-sis,”Coltrane warned, sparing a momentary glance towards her,”Even if these guys are friendly, we s-shouldn’t let our guards down. I juth- just don’t want you getting hurt is all.”Of course while the Lycanroc was probably being a bit paranoid, he still did admittedly have his suspicions about the weirdness of this dream world. Even though nothing seemed to be particularly dangerous or off about it, so far at least, it didn’t hurt to still keep an eye out just in case.”Oh it’ll be fiiiiine! You gotta loosen up a bit, little bro~”Eir assured, smirking cheekily at the Lycanroc before turning her attention back to Happy and his little purple friend who looked about ready to start running. The Cyndaquil said that she was welcome to play with them, but she was ‘It’ now! The Ninetales ears stood up in excitement as the mouse and his friend immediately make a run for it, scuttling under the table and Su Yan’s chair and off along the balcony.
”Hehehe~ Better watch out, ‘cause here I come!”Eir yips with playful enthusiasm, running around the table instead of under it as to not disturb their trainers by accidentally knocking it over as she chases after her new playmates. Being much bigger and faster than the pair, she would easily be able to catch both of them if she really tried to. But it wouldn’t be much fun that way now, would it? So the Alolan Ninetales dialed back the speed to make it fairer as she ran in an attempt to tag one of them, giving them room to duck and dodge out of her way and allowing them a near miss here and there.”Tag, you’re it!”she declared as she reached out and lightly tapped the Cyndaquil with a fluffy tail tip, giggling as she quickly pivoted around and ran in the opposite direction.】☆ ☆

She takes the information in as much stride as she can, the utterance of a curse, and offering condolences. It meant something to him, to share it. He usually kept it bottled up, barley even bringing the event up with the therapist he had been told to see regarding such trauma. He could only hope the other victims were moving on and had help as well. There had been many victims that afternoon, and he could only hope that Charizard was now in a place he cannot harm others. The coffee is drained from the cup and he gently places it on the table, before pushing it a little as to assure he won’t accidentally knock it onto the ground and shatter it. We can’t have that, now can we? Now he can just focus on the edamame, which, after he picks a few from his bag he offers to Zoey, then chuckles a bit at her statement about his neighbors.
”Well I suppose that is. Most of their husbands have died already, and they really do bully each other too, I think people just get mean when they get old. So I guess it’s bound to happen to us all” knowing himself, he would be a rather salty and depressing old man, if he made it to that point, that is. Stop. There he goes again. Pessimistic. He has to do better stopping it in its tracks. So he just tries his best to pay attention to Zoey as she seems happy about his thoughts of coming to Hoenn, and then explaining her home situation a bit more. It was a good story over all, having her finally find a home she could feel safe in. Of course Su Yan wasn’t privy to the events that lead her to being adopted, but he didn’t have to be. He just nodded along and relaxed.
”Yeah. We keep in touch, call all the time, and when she can, she returns to the city. She’s a great woman, but I think she’s happy I am, in a sense, on my own now. A lot of her life had to be put on whole after the whole…” he waves his hand in the air a moment as he fished for a word “ordeal. he says with a shrug. Then contests come up once more and he listens to the german accented Zoroark express his wish to try. He surely would be a good showman.
“Well, It’ll be nice for a little friendly competition.”

”He’s safe!” Happy insists, they were both small and weak and could probably be easily dispatched by Eir or Coltrane, so they were in no place to make an attempt at being sneaky. Though he can’t speak long as he has to run off and away before he’s tagged again! He can out maneuver Eir for a short amount of time before the icy tail tip hits his flank! No! He was it again so soon!?! Eir runs off and he’s about to follow her as the ground shakes the smallest bit as a large Kangaskhan steps out of the bushes to collect her son, but the table is between her and the baby and she doesn’t really wanna disturb the people enjoying a meal…

☆ ☆【Cookies slowly disappear little by little as Zoey and Su Yan share small talk together, talking about their own lives for the most part. She can appreciate that he seems to be opening up more to her as he talks about the incident he had with a trainer’s Charizard. Well, to be fair the incident itself was more implied than anything, but Zoey felt like she understood some of what had happened even though the event itself hadn’t been explained in full context. It certainly confirmed the source of the burn scars he had… She had to wonder what exactly had happened to lead up to something like that, what could have possibly made a trained Charizard go berserk and just start straight up attacking people like that. Maybe the trainer themselves didn’t have the experience to be able to hold it back… it seemed like it could’ve been an act borne out of disobedience on the Pokemon’s part. All the more reason for her to continue collecting those gym badges, then. Zoey knew she would feel guilty as hell if her Pokemon lashed out and got someone seriously hurt or even killed, and hopefully there wouldn’t ever come a time where something like that could happen. As much as she wants to ask more about what had happened during that incident, she didn’t want to push Su Yan and possibly make him uncomfortable. If he wanted to share more about it, he could do so in his own time when he felt he was ready.
Hopefully that Charizard was somewhere that it wouldn’t be able to hurt other people again… What really pissed Zoey off the most was the fact that it seemed like the incident could have been avoided entirely, and yet… A part of her wondered if that trainer had apologized to Su Yan and maybe any other people who had gotten hurt for what had happened. She certainly hoped so, otherwise she just might have to find and punch a b***h. Taking a deep breath, Zoey pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind for the time being as she focused on the conversation. The woman happily accepts some of the edamame that he offers to her, a good change of pace because she was probably starting to get a little sick of the sweetness from the cookies. Speaking of… Ingrid had finished her plate and was now pawing at her leg for more, chuffing contentedly as the woman loaded it up with another portion of cookies. Su Yan seems amused at Zoey’s comments regarding his elderly neighbors, explaining that most of their husbands had already died and that they often bullied each other too. Huh, well considering that women could be pretty catty towards one another it was only fitting that they’d still act like that even as elders. And without their husbands around to help keep them in check, well… she pitied the poor caretakers who had to be subjected to all that on a regular basis. She hummed contemplatively as she popped a couple of the edamame in her mouth, shaking her head a bit as Su Yan said he thought people just got mean when they got old and that it was probably bound to happen to everyone. ”Mmmm, not sure ‘bout that, to be honest with ya. Most o’ the ol’ folks I’ve met were arguably some of the nicest people this side o’ the planet,” she said, chuckling a little, ”And hey, I like to think I’d make for a pretty cool, chill kinda grandma when I get to that age.” Of course there wouldn’t really be any well to tell for sure until she did, but she would certainly hope she wouldn’t ever lose her sense of humor as she got older. That’d just be the worst.
The conversation moved along as Zoey explained a bit more about her home life with the Larssons, not going into much detail but explaining enough to at least give him an idea of what it was like. She’d rather not talk too much about what had happened leading up to her adoption into the family… While it didn’t seem fair since Su Yan had been willing to open up a bit more about himself to her, Zoey was admittedly still mulling over if he really was as trustworthy as he seemed so far. She’d learned the hard way to not be so easily willing to trust someone just because they had a pretty face or a great personality… sometimes people like that were just that good at being able to hide just how horrid and monstrous they truly were. Still, given everything that had happened thus far after their initial meeting, she was willing to give Su the benefit of the doubt. She didn’t have anything against him, he really did seem quite pleasant and friendly thus far… but she needed a bit more to make a sure decision on whether she can really trust him with some of the more… sensitive bits. Still, he didn’t try to press her to share more than what she already had, which she appreciated.
All this talk about family, though, made her somewhat curious about the relationship Su Yan had with his mother given that they weren’t living together. She listened quietly as he answered her question, saying that they called each other all the time and that she returns to Ecruteak to visit when she could. A soft smile crossed her lips as he said she was a great woman, but he felt that she was happy that he was able to live on his own since she had to dedicate a good portion of her life to helping him after what had happened. ”Yeah, I can imagine… It’s nice to that you two still keep in touch, and that she was willing to help support you when it was needed most,” she offered, ignoring the bitterness lingering in the back of her conscience. She remembered her own family doing the same for her even when she had spent those ten long years locked up in the penitentiary… They would check in with her at least twice a week when she was allowed to make calls, and stopped by to visit her at least once a week. She had appreciated that Russ had still wholeheartedly supported her, even though he’d been the most angry and disappointed about what had happened he understood that she still needed him to be there for her. And hell even Castiel, who barely even showed his face around the house since he lived on his own in a different region was usually away on business, came in to visit her even though it wasn’t nearly as often as the others. Just knowing that her family had been there for her the whole time through all that was probably been the only thing that had kept her sane and hopeful during all of that…
At the idea of learning about contests and possibly trying one out herself, Zoey had to admit it sounded like a pretty neat idea even though they weren’t exactly her thing. At the very least it could be a refreshing change of pace from all the battling and badge collecting, and as they say, ‘don’t knock it ‘til you try it’, right? Orpheus seemed all too glad to agree with the idea, though judging from the shift in his expression it was clear that he knew as little about contests as she did. ”Well, I’m sure we can figure it out somehow,” she reassured with a warm smile. Surely there were guides that they could use to look more into the specifics about contests, either in the contest halls themselves or posted online somewhere. Plus with Su Yan helping them out with his own knowledge, it seemed like they would at least not have to worry about going into it completely blind. A friendly competition did sound pretty nice, she had to agree, even though she wouldn’t exactly be doing contests in the long term. She wondered if maybe Su might try taking on some gyms as well sometime, even though he didn’t seem to be the type to really do a lot of battling.
Eir couldn’t help but feel a bit more excited as the little Pokemon says that his mom might come to join them a little later, hopefully she would be as nice as he was! Even so, Coltrane couldn’t help but feel somewhat suspicious, even though it didn’t seem like the new Pokemon was of any threat to them like the Heracross and Chatot from earlier had been. A small smile crosses the Lycanroc’s muzzle as Happy insisted that his new playmate was safe, simply giving a nod to the fire mouse in understanding. Still, he kept a careful eye out on their surroundings, the large horned head of what was surely the little one’s mom occasionally peeking at them out of the nearby bushes not going unnoticed by Coltrane’s watchful gaze as Eir joined their smaller companions in their game. Given how much faster she is compared to her smaller playmates, the Alolan Ninetales slows herself down to make the game fairer as she chases after the pair. They dodge and weave away from her for a time, until she finally tags Happy and makes him ‘it’. Giggling enthusiastically, Eir bounds off and away before he could take the opportunity to tag her back. However, just before he can give chase… the Ninetales freezes as the ground starts to shake a little, a shadow looming over them as the large form of the Kangaskhan mother steps out of the brush.”Oooooh…”Eir’s mouth forms a little ‘o’ in wonder at how big this new Pokemon was as she looked up at it.
Zoey tenses at the sudden presence of the large Pokemon, not wanting to make any sudden moves that could potentially provoke it to attack them. ”Uh…” she hesitates for a moment when Su Yan, similarly tense, asks what was behind him, ”A Kangaskhan, really big brown Pokemon and a very protective mom…” She had noticed Happy and Eir playing around with the Kangaskhan’s baby out of her periphery, but she hadn’t paid much mind since they seemed to be having fun and because she’d been more focused on talking with Su. Speaking of Eir, the Alolan Ninetales’s ears perked up, and she smiled amiably at their new arrival as she wagged her tails.”Hiya Miss Khan! Did you want to play with us too?”she asked curiously,”Oh! Or did you want a cookie? We’ve got loads!”
”Eir, be careful… Coltrane, Ingrid, stay,” Zoey says, keeping her voice low as her eyes dart over towards the Ninetales, Lycanroc, and Meleeon briefly. Coltrane had started to stand up in preparation to defend them, but upon hearing his trainer’s orders he stayed seated where he was. His dark green eyes stayed firmly trained on the Kangaskhan, prepared to leap into action in case things ended up going south. Ingrid was happy to stay where she was, though she placed a paw on her plate and pulled it underneath where she stood to protect her cookies. Orpheus remained where he sat, frozen with his cup slightly raised as he eyed the scene before them nervously.
With her full undivided attention now back on the matter at hand, Zoey blinked a bit as she noticed the large brown Pokemon seemed oddly… confused and maybe unsure? Well, at the very least she didn’t seem like she was angry, otherwise she probably would’ve attacked the moment she had made her presence known. ”She doesn’t seem hostile, though… I think she just wants her baby back,” she suggested, tentatively letting herself relax somewhat since it didn’t look like they were in any immediate danger, ”The baby’s on the other side of our table, though…” Well, this was a bit of a dilemma… Even if the Kangaskhan wasn’t threatening them and didn’t appear to want to cause any trouble, it was probably best that they don’t try to touch or handle the little one even if it was just to give it back to her. Their species were known to be incredibly protective of their children… and even if it was in good intent just touching a young Kangaskhan could potentially set off the mother’s berserk button. Should they just… wait and maybe the baby would go back to its mother on its own?
”Just be careful ‘n don’t make any sudden moves, aight? She could still attack if she sees us as a threat,” she warned lowly, looking towards Su Yan but still keeping the Kangaskhan in her sight, ”What do ya think we should do ‘bout the baby?”】☆ ☆

The news of a large, possibly dangerous Pokemon standing behind him was not news Su Yan took too particularly well. A body that only remained tense as she stood there, surveying the area for her baby. "W-Well if she want's her baby, we should give her the baby" he reasons barley daring to move or breathe. However after several tense moments the pokemon moves on to the other groups of Pokemon gathering around her child.
"No. I don't want to play." she says, and upon seeing her child safe she sits on the outskirts of the play session, perhaps to supervise, arm full of berries put into a small pile. Her child waddles over and grabs one "but a cookie? We would love one" So it seems she was not here to create any sort of trouble seeing as her child was safe, and feeling the moment pass Su Yan let's his shoulders release all that tension they had been holding since the Pokemon had made her entrance, along with a sigh of relief. Well that was over and he felt so much better. Carefully Su yan moves again and listens to the voices of the pokemon saying... well something he can't understand.
"She's just staying around." he says, getting to his feet in order to head over to the playing pokemon. He wasn't exactly sure what he was doing, but he felt he had to introduce his pokemon to the mother? "Miss ah- Kangaskhan I am Su Yan and that is-... that's my Cyndaquil. He is called Happy and he means your baby no harm." was the... was the Kangaskhan laughing at him? It sure sounded like it. Or it at least seemed like the motherly Pokemon took a real shine to the awkward and nervous young man who, along with his Pokemon, seemed to need more nurturing in their lives. Without warning Su Yan is pulled into the strong arms of this pokemon causing him to squeak in surprise. "Zoey! Help! It's going to eat me!" he cries, only to the laughs of the Pokemon holding him as well as his own Cyndaquil, who just seemed to find the whole exchange amusing.

☆ ☆【For several tense moments Zoey kept her eyes mainly on Su Yan, yet not letting the Kangaskhan that had suddenly appeared before them leave her sight. Fortunately, the motherly Pokemon didn’t seem angry and wasn’t making any aggressive or threatening gestures at them… Maybe she just wanted to make sure that her baby was safe? Letting out a breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding until now, the woman let herself relax somewhat when it looked like they weren’t in any immediate danger. Although she couldn’t blame Su as he seemed to remain tense, especially since the Kangaskhan was still looming just behind him and he couldn’t exactly see what was going on to really gauge the situation.
She bit her lip somewhat at his reasoning that they should give her the baby if she wanted it back. Of course, as easy as the solution seemed it wasn’t quite that simple. Kangaskhan were known to be fiercely protective of their babies, and even just touching the young one could potentially provoke her into attacking if she saw it as a threat. Seeing as the Kangaskhan wasn’t hostile at the moment, Zoey would prefer to not potentially start an unnecessary fight if it could be helped. So… should they just wait and maybe the situation would eventually resolve itself…? Thankfully the Kangaskhan moved away from them and approached the gathering of Pokemon, taking a seat close by as if to supervise and dumping her armload of berries onto the ground next to her. Eir hummed softly in disappointment at their new arrival’s decline to join in their play session, but perked up as the Kangaskhan happily agreed to sharing their cookies.
With the moment now passed everyone present finally lets themselves fully relax, Zoey standing up from her seat and hanging back as Su Yan moves to greet their apparent new company. A smile crosses her lips as the Kangaskhan seemed to laugh a bit in amusement as he introduces himself and his Pokemon, and pulled Su Yan in for a hug before the blind man could fully register what was going on. Zoey joins in with the collective amusement of her own and Su’s Pokemon as the blind man calls to her for help on the pretense that the Kangaskhan was going to eat him. ”Heh, oh she’ll eat ya alright. Her motherly love will consume ya completely n’ there’s absolutely no escape from it,” she said lightheartedly, raising her hands in a placating gesture, ”Jokes aside, everything’s fine, Su. I think she’s just taken a bit of a likin’ to ya n’ wants to show ya some affection~” Maybe the Kangaskhan saw Su Yan and his team of small Pokemon as little children who could use a motherly figure to care for them. The feeling of a paw tapping against her leg drew her attention towards Eir, the ice fox tilting her head as she looked between the Kangaskhan and the mostly empty cookie plate that still had a small pile of the sweets left on it.
Getting the message, Zoey smiled warmly as she picked up the plate, carrying it over with her as she moved towards the Kangaskhan and Su Yan. ”Nice to meet ya too, Miss Khan~ I’m Zoey, I suppose I’d be considered an acquaintance of Su here,” she greeted, holding out the cookie plate in offering, ”Me n’ my Pokemon already had most of ‘em, but ye n’ yer babe are welcome to share the rest between yerselves if ya like.” An amused grin crossed her face as she glanced cheekily towards Su Yan, ”I’m sure cookies taste a lot better anyways~”】☆ ☆

☆ ☆【As Zoey happily offered to share the remainder of the cookies with their new Kangaskhan companion, she couldn’t help but notice she was starting to feel a bit off for some reason. When she spoke, her voice sounded oddly muffled and distant in her own ears, like she was trying to talk while underwater or from all the way down a really long hallway. Even the ambient noises from their surroundings sounded very far away to her. And was it just her… or was it gradually growing brighter with each passing second? The sensations of the gentle breeze and warm sun of the Dream World were becoming dampened, and she felt like her body was starting to slowly fade away.
”Su?” she called out, her dream avatar struggling to get even just the word out as she felt herself becoming more and more disconnected from the vivid dreamscape. Hell, her voice even sounded so quiet to her that she wasn’t even sure if Su Yan had even heard her. It seemed like she was finally waking up… Thinking about it now, morning had likely already come where she was. Or was it even still morning? Had she maybe slept in for at least an hour or so? Regardless, her actual real life body was apparently saying it was time for her to get up now, as much as she wanted to stay for just a little longer in this Dream World.
Little by little the bright light filling her vision grew more and more so, blocking out her sight of her Pokemon and her new companions until it was nearly blinding in its intensity and she was forced to squeeze her eyes shut. When she started to open them again, she was greeted by the collective warmth of the blankets gathered around her and the pillow her head rested on. Bright sunrays filtered in through the window, marking yet another warm, sunny day in Alola as Zoey found herself in the waking world once more.】☆ ☆

Call it the benefits of exercise, or just simply allowing time to pass. Either way, once Christian began moving, his headache began gradually fading away and soon became a thing of the past, especially in the face -- or the nose?-- of fresh baked goods. The gentle breeze brought with it the smell of delectables that only a mad man would turn away from. With Christian in the lead, and he following his stomach, which had yet to lead him astray, the group came upon a treehouse cafe. Inspecting the establishment, including the stairs that led up to it, the blonde rubbed his chin in the most thought-provoking of manners. "If we eat in the dream world, does that mean we'll be full in real life?" he staged the question, not quite expecting an answer.
It would've been nice though. He was genuinely curious.
Cress, the action-orientated gal that she was, didn't simply wait for an answer to be given and instead sought one out. With a rather animated arm wave to the rest of her companions, that were at least at her eye level, she encouraged them to follow as she started the hop up the stairs. Christian turned his head in the direction of creaking wood, his gaze settling on his gaggle of pokemon as they made their way up the stairs, led by none other than Cress. To that sight, he gave nothing more but a soft 'hm' before he placed his hand onto the stairs' rope to keep himself steady as he began a slow ascent. "At the very least, we won't have to pay for any of the food we eat," he mused, words peppered by one creaky step after the other.
"That's the proof we need to know this is the real deal -- free food is a dream come true."

Reese had given up leaving the maze legitimately, instead barreling through the leaf walls. A straight line in one direction would eventually result in a way out one way or the other. Given his heightened state of agitation, Reese hadn’t even bothered to consider the downsides of this choice. His pokemon had (or Jaxston at least) but followed on his heels nonetheless.
Which resulted in a far bigger tumbling mess when the group finally emerged from the maze and right to a hillside. It came out of nowhere and Reese and Quixote (who was still in his arms, arms flailing excitingly) went tripping and rolling down, with Jaxston right behind. The momentum was broken by a spare bush in the middle of the field; despite it’s looks it wasn’t a soft run in.
Reese kicked his way (and Jaxston) out of the bush, eye twitching. Quixote had fallen from his arms at some point in the tumble, squeaking and freeing himself from the bush beside his trainer. Jaxston was laid flat on the ground, leaf arms clutching his head from the kick trying to clear the dizzies from his eyes.
and to think, dreams were supposed to be fun and exciting. This quite the opposite; the sooner he woke up the sooner he’d work to forget this pastel nightmare. Ginger plopped down next to them (the benefit of being a ghost) and eyed them curiously. Everyone (for the most part) seemed alright physically, though the emotions were still running high.
Reese was done with this place. Done with the dream, done with the fakeness. Done. He just wanted to wake up.
So why didn’t he? He sat in silence for a good moment, before slamming his hands to cover his eyes and flopping back into the uncomfortable bush. Wake up. That’s all he had to do…

The group didn't get very far before Jay had to stop in his tracks. They were just encroaching upon the park when the echoes Jay was getting distorted. He couldn't keep walking, as the lack of feedback distorted things for him. Suddenly, he wobbled, and held a hand out, his expression showing some degree of concern. He was getting... nothing from his surroundings. Even the ground underneath him felt worse off, like it was even more unstable than before. Like walking on a mattress. He tried clicking his tongue,but the impressions he got didn't make sense. A piece of something twenty feet off, hanging at head level. Another bit of something, harder, maybe metallic, but drifting in space. Something he would have assumed was a tree, if it didn't suddenly lose half of itself as it rose up into the air, behind him.
"Hey, don' s'pose you--" Jay didn't get the question out, before he felt as though something had just knocked him upside the back of his head. He cursed, gripped his head, and then wobbled. He felt like if he took a step, it would be off a cliff, into nothing, but his balance was suddenly worse off. He crouched down, extending a hand to try and reach around for the ground, but as he felt what should have been grass, it felt... fuzzy, and soft, and his fingers slowly pushed through it. "s**t, what 'n the hell...." It was like the world was fading around them, but he couldn't figure out if it was. His perspective was even more skewed than usual. He felt one of his pokemon run up beside him, and push up against his arm, but he couldn't tell who it was. He was starting to feel light, like being dropped into free fall, before suddenly, there was a tugging sensation at his navel.
"What the--" The feeling grew, like a hook had latched onto him and suddenly pulled him up, before suddenly-- he disappeared from the dreamworld.
