Julie just stuck her tongue out more at Esben's insult, before huffing and crossing her arms as she glared at him. He was such a jerk! She did not look like a dumb pokemon who'd get eaten by a dragon! She'd be an AWESOME pokemon that would defeat ANY pokemon! Like MEW! Or... or... some other legendary! Like a JULIE! A legendary JULIE POKEMON. She made a shorter face at him when he looked away, but got herself together when, suddenly, there was actually signs of his pokemon, and he went running off. Suddenly, defending herself, and making fun of him, wasn't quite important-- making sure he didn't go axing pokemon was.
"Yer s'posed to battle 'em with POKEMON!" she cried out, exasperated and flailing her arms after him. It seemed to be lost on him, though, as she fell behind, and Esben charged ahead to be reunited with his pokemon. Eventually, though, she was able to catch up, huffing and puffing a bit before looking around, very quickly and easily recovering as she tried to search for signs of her own pokemon. No such luck, though, which was a little disheartening. She turned to Esben, hoping he or his pokemon might have some idea, or might be able to at least confirm her suggestion, but Esben didn't really seem to have any more insight on the matter, either. She puffed out her cheeks some-- honestly, he didn't seem all that interested, either. Her arms crossed over her chest a bit, but she decided not to pester him over it, given he was still missing one of his own pokemon. Instead, she looked around, trying to look for signs of other pokemon, or any other openings in the cave that they could possibly continue to explore through.
She blinked and looked over at Esben when he scolded his pokemon, peering curiously at the fluff ball. He seemed fine-- what was Esben so upset about? She reached out to take the pokemon when it was handed to her, totally happy to take it-- until she felt how wet he was. "Eewwww," she giggled, scrunching up her nose as she pulled Flef in some, though not quite ready to cradle him in her arms, "Flef why're you so wet??" She leaned in to his eye and sniffed the pokemon a bit, before looking over when Esben addressed his pokemon, lowering Flef some, but still holding the little furball away from her body some. She didn't really want to get her T-shirt soaked just yet....
She immediately spun around to look, her eyes going wide, and on reflex, she actually did draw Flef in, hugging the pokemon securely close to her as her heart leaped up. Maybe their pokemon would be further down that way! Esben seemed to think the same, and before he could even coax her to do so, Julie was taking off down the pathway, just as he had done so a moment before. Chico let out a concerned bleat, but followed hurriedly, slipping and sliding across stones as he tried to keep up with his trainer, while she did the same, hugging Flef close. She slowed, though, as something caught her eye, and she stared with wide, curious eyes as light flickered and glistened up ahead. Not just light, though-- colors. She caught them dancing on the cave wall, first, but as she continued, small, translucent crystals came into view, growing from the stone. She looked in awe, stepping carefully as she moved further in and tilted her head, as the passage opened up to reveal a large cavernous room, covered in crystalline formations of various sizes. A mound of earth rose up in the center, also covered, and the floor of the cave was covered in broken shards.
"Whoa..." She looked around, some of the light dancing off her as she entered the room, her head turning as she slowly took in the sight. It was like something out of a fairy tail that some of her family had to read to her, or some of the pretty moves that pokemon could do. The light reflected through the crystals and lit up the room with various colors, all twinkling and dancing at various angles. She blinked, though, as she finally registered a snapping sound, and looked over to see a pokemon glaring menacingly at her, growling at her and boxing the air warningly towards her. "Huh?" She blinked and stepped back slightly, and it scuttled forward, but she looked over as the source of the light reflected through the crystals moved into view, stepping around the formation in the center of the room-- a very familiar pokemon.
"TRIA!" Julie's face lit up brighter than the room she was in as the pokemon looked at her, but the rapidash turned her gaze to the aggressive pokemon before her. Julie's expression fell, some, when she noticed that her pokemon actually appeared injured, and when the crab-like pokemon turned and lurched forward to attack again, Tria lunged forward, her horn glowing as she swept down, caught it, and hurled it into the wall. Julie gasped as it crashed into the crystals, shattering several of them, before collapsing to the ground, dizzied and fully unconscious. Tria trotted over, leaning down, and Julie smiled, despite her disappointment over the broken crystals, lifting a hand to the equestrian pokemon's muzzle. She was glad to see she was okay, though she was a little worried over the bit of bruising she seemed to have. At least she had found her... and this room was beautiful. And that mean crab pokemon seemed pretty unconscious for the time being. "Hey Esben! I found Tria!" she called out excitedly, looking over to see if her companion had caught up, while holding the (still wet) Flef in one arm. Maybe his would be nearby? Or maybe having a beacon of light like Tria would make it easy to find the rest? At least they could ride on her back if they got tired. Oh! And maybe she could even help dry Flef off!

Esben huffed and just Julie an unamused glare at her statement. Battle them with pokemon? What was she on about? Of course, he would battle the nasty dragons alongside his pokemon; he could take them on his own of course, but even in his clan it was common to have some sort of partner as back up. "That’s what I’m goin’ ta do!"
Of course, by the time he’d found his team, Teeg had already banished the dragon (or was it a bat?) that had been antagonizing them and they’d almost all been reunited. Instead, Esben chose to peddle a wet Flef off on Julie to carry, trying not to snicker just a bit under his breath as she went ‘ewww’ from the wet fluff ball. Flef just wiggled and chirped, looking at her expectantly. If he had the capability to communicate he might’ve told her exactly why he was wet. But he didn’t, so he couldn’t. He gave a little shiver and a wiggle to try and shake off some of the dampness, with no avail.
In fact, as Esben took in his other pokemon, he noted that they all seemed to be a little on the damp side, which struck him as odd. The cave was certainly on the chilly side, but he hadn’t recalled any water or moisture as they moved through it. Even the top of the mountain seemed on the dry side, with all the dirt and rocks that they’d managed to scramble up. It was rather odd. But his attention shifted instead to locate the remainder of his team (and maybe Julie’s assuming they were about as well).
Isi had pointed out yet another pathway through the cave and in his excitement, Esben had announced as much to Julie. In fact, to his surprise, she’d already gone darting down the passage with Flef in tow. For someone who had been shouting at him to slow down, she certainly didn’t hesitate to shoot off on her own! Then again, at the moment he couldn’t blame her. He’d found most of his pokemon, but all she’d found was the chicken green bean thing. Quickly he glanced back to his crew and gave a wide wave of his arm. "C’mon! We’ve got to find Byr and Julie’s pokemons!" He called. The small group looked between one another uncertainly, before Teeg gave a solid nod of her head and kicked her stubby legs into gear to follow after the children, Isi fumbling briefly before following as well with a little cry. He didn’t want to get lost again!
Julie had a healthy lead on him, but Esben and crew managed to stumble up behind her just as Tria disposed of the odd-looking crab pokemon. The boy jumped when it smacked into the wall, axe at the ready to start swinging if it tried to pull anything, though he was knocked off kilter when both Isi and Teeg smacked into the back of his legs.
"Oof!" The young boy snapped a look at the pair in annoyance before straightening himself up and returning his gaze to Julie and Tria. "Hey! It’s your pony!" Wow, how’d she get in this cave? How had they missed her? Flef wiggled and chirped a bit at the sight of everyone, clearly excited and not at all aware that things were missing, to begin with. Esben trotted the remainder of the way to stand next to Julie, still eyeing Tria curiously before addressing her trainer.
"Huh, you did…," He murmured through his attention snapped around, looking for something. He started moving about the cavern, shuffling through the litterings of shattered crystal rock without care. His boots were thick enough so it didn’t cross his mind that he might injure himself in the process. When it became clear that there was nothing else around, he circled back to Julie, a frown on his face as he looked to Tria again.
"Did you see Byr?" He inquired of the horse. Why? Who even knew; his young mind clearly wasn’t focused on the fact that he did not speak pokemon and that even if she could speak back… he still wouldn’t understand. Still, though, she might’ve had a clue and even if she didn’t, then he’d just keep looking. "You’re sheep aren’t here either." He pointed out to Julie. Something that was probably… obvious to the girl as well. Where could they have gone? While Julie reconvened with her pokemon, he took to looking for another passage through the caves. How far could a small bear and some sheep have gone? Esben was clearly getting antsy about his missing pokemon. He needed to find Byr!
"BYR! WHERE ARE YOU?" He shouted in agitation, squinting against the glints of the crystals, though it seemed some of the ones just above reverberated in response. He stomped a foot and turned to the others, agitation clear on his young face. "He’s not here!"

Julie was more preoccupied with finding her pokemon than continuing to argue with Esben about how you were supposed to properly fight with dragons, but on some level, she may or may not have still wondered if they were really on the same page with this. Probably not, though she didn't fully conceptualize that herself, being as young as she was. Plus she was still optimistic enough to kind of want to think that maybe she was just misunderstanding? Esben was really confusing, about a lot of thins. She didn't really get what he was saying some of the time. They hadn't had much of a chance to really get to sit down and talk though, so. Then again, they were also like.... six, and eight.
Julie was still beaming over Tria when Esben joined them, and flashed a bright smile his way when he made the same observation. She continued stroking Tria's muzzle affectionately like a child seeing the prettiest pony, but blinked and looked over at Esben when he started walking around. "What ya lookin' for Esby?" she asked curiously, watchin him kick around shards until he disappeared behind the large monolith in the center of the room, "I don' think Byr's gonna be in the shards of glass or anythin'. He's not that small!" Not that it was glass, it was crystal, but it all looked the same to her. She held Flef up to Tria's neck, to see if the flames would at all help to dry the little pokemon off. "Don' burn Flef, Tria, but I wanna try and get him dry," she urged, standing on her tippy toes some. It was kinda hard.... Tria was super tall! She pulled Flef back down and looked over when Esben returned, and actually seemed to ask Tria questions, making Julie crinkle her nose some. "I don' think Tria could tell us if she did, Esben," she pointed out. At the same time, the equestrian pokemon snorted softly, giving a shake of her head as she stepped back, and then buckled her forelegs down.
Julie frowned at Esben's other observation. "I know," Julie mumbled, moving over to rest her hands on Tria's back as she lowered herself, letting Flef rest closer to the flames. She had noticed her sheeps absence.... She gave a shaky sigh. First her brother, then her pokemon. This was so weird! She looked over when Esben shouted out, looking a bit put out herself. She didn't mind, though she was pretty sure that the pokemon woulda heard all the shouting and battling already if it was close. And their shouting earlier. Still, her dour mood didn't last long, and she beamed a bit despite his agitation. "C'mon!" she decided, perking up, "I bet Tria can help us search, huh Tria? Can we ride on your back?" She looked excitedly at the pokemon, who gave her a peaceable side look, and she eagerly climbed onto the horses back. It was a bit clumsy, but she got there, straddling her and holding Flef in front of her, just shy of the colored flames dancing along Tria's mane. She twisted around, looking over at Esben before Tria climbed back up to her feet. "Ya wanna come up too Esbeen?" she asked, swaying her shoulders a little bit as she totally did not mispronounce his name just a liiiiiiittle bit.

Wearing: jean shorts, tank top and a sports jacket ___________________________________________ Out Of Ball:
Rose was relieved that Reina did not think her explanation on how this place felt was weird. The older woman had even agreed that it was a good explanation. They then discussed paths, and which one they might take. After a mountain path was suggested, Rose was already excited for it. She was very apparently a more active type of girl who wasn’t held back by the thought of getting dirty. Reina had commented that Anubis, her Riolu was afraid of heights, so naturally Rose had offered to carry him if he gets too scared.“Awww, really? Heheh~ That’s so cute~” she smiled, glancing down at the black pup. It seemed he was getting along pretty well with Rye, too.
Rye continued to listen as Anubis talked about his trainer, considering how she was alike to his trainer. So, that must be why they have run into each other yet again. Interesting. As Anubis explained his trainer’s naming scheme, he tilted his head slightly. Did Rose have a naming scheme? From what little he knew, it certainly could not be as specific as Reina’s was. “Hmm. I can see it. You would look more like the hieroglyphics if you had on the fancy jewelry or paint.” Rye commented, giving a nod. “Rose did not give me my name – it was something I had felt a pull to.” Rye tried to explain his own name. He felt it would be a bit difficult to understand if he mentioned the spirits echoing the name to him. He was sure that there was more to the name than just ‘Rye’ but he had not yet thought about it.
As the trainers made their decision, walking down the path to the mountain, Rye had made an observation on Anubis’ relationship with Reina. “Oh? You are a protector of justice?” he inquired, gently floating beside the riolu. The flurry looked forward a bit in thought. “It is my duty to cleanse corrupt spirits that I come across…. But it is difficult to do around Rose…. She struggles with a great fear of ghosts. Yet she seems to attract them with ease.” He commented, then looked over to the Riolu. “I want to become stronger so that I can protect her better.” He added, a determined look in his eyes.
Rose was more than happy to continue along the path to the mountain, suddenly becoming a rocky incline as they entered the new area, the large tree seeming to simply disappear into the distant fog. “I can’t remember the last time I went hiking! Heh~ “ the red head commented cheerfully, already starting her way on the trail with Reina. While doing so, she could not help but want to have a conversation as well, considering some topics for a moment. “You said you were a private investigator right? I was wondering if maybe you would share how you got into that? Do you see a lot of places? Is it like being a cop? How many bad guys have you caught?” she asked, clearly full of questions regarding the older woman’s profession.

Trey kept his eyes on his wayward pup pokemon as he chased him through the path. Chance seemed to know that Trey was after him, for he quickened his pace the moment he saw his trainer he picked up his pace. "Chance wait!" 'Vi! Snivy Sni! Vita shouted from Trey's shoulder. The snivy seemed to consider something before jumping off of Trey's shoulder, all the better apparently to try to reach her fellow party member. Vita's vines reached out but missed as Chance jumped out of the way and evaded them, the near capture seemed to give the lilipup more vigor as it ran off even farther down the path. Trey yelped as he saw the pokemon zoom away, noticing in his perphery that the terrain had changed, all around him were mountains and caves, rocky nooks and crannies where a pokemon could hide from their trainer, or worse be attacked by other pokemon. And Chance was still running. "Come on, we can't lose him." Trey called out running after his pokemon. Vita nodded and jumped on her trainer's shoulder again, holding fast as Trey sped up to keep up with chance. “Why is he even running!” he muttered as he started panting from the run.

After running for a good while Trey found himself short of breath and unable to catch it. Although he didn't know it, the mountain air was thiner and the boy was so unused to it he ran out of breath faster. Wheezing and coughing he braced his hands on his knees, giving himself a needed break and trying to catch his break. 'Vy?' Vita peered worriedly at her trainer, using her vines to gently remove some of the hair matted on his forehead, stuck there from the sweat of running. His heart was still thrumming fast and hard against his rib-cage but the gesture none the less, made Trey smile in between gulps of air. "Fi-ne.....I'm....Fi..ne" the boy said still taking in air in between each words "just..needed to catch my breath" breathing he just needed to breath in hold. out. The holding was important. He knew that from experience. The last thing I need is to pass out here, he thought head still in between his knees. Eventually after what felt like a lot of time but really wasn't Trey found his heart rate had returned to normal. His breathing followed after a bit and the boy braced himself before looking around. The mountains really were beautiful. On a whim the boy took his camera out and snapped a few pictures. Some from one angle some from another. The camera wasn’t much to look at, just a cheap digital one with zoom. His father had made it clear Trey was considered to be wasting time when pursuing this particular hobby, Trey still had nightmares sometimes from that particular fight. Still he loved taking pictures, seeing the world through different angles. It was creative in a way that was different from drawing. He had pooled any savings he could scrape to buy this little camera and for that he loved it. "...did you see which way Chance went?" he asked Vita, putting the camera back in his bag. The snivy cocked her head to the side before jumping off of Trey's shoulder once more and pointing one stubby arm in the direction in front of him. “That way?” he asked just to be sure ‘Vy!’’ Vita said this time in a sharper tone. Trey nodded in understanding this time and Vita walked ahead, giving Trey a look back to make it clear he was to follow her. Well its not like i have a better lead, he thought before following his starter through the trail she blazed.

Trey kept walking after Vita, all the while wondering just why Chance had chosen to run away. Am I just..not a good enough trainer? He was a Treyson, and according to his father, Treysons were always trainers, more than that they were masters. They had the strongest pokemon and wielded them in the battlefield leveling all enemies and crushing them into dust. At least...that's what his father always said, to be sure it seemed to be truth of his brothers. Sebastian the eldest, was a winning challenger at the battle tent in their town and already had eight league badges to his name. Neal, the second eldest, was studying to be a top breeder, Luke and Levi his older twin brothers were on their way in another region, Trey wasn't sure what they were doing but they seemed to be pleasing their father. Even Seth, the baby of the family seemed to be doing well in the academy he was at. Only Trey didn't have any titles to his name. Only Trey hadn't achieved anything. And now Trey had lost his pokemon. Fiddling with the strings of his hoodie, the boy tried to banish those thoughts and focus on the present. He had to find Chance, he was his responsability now. Even if he wasn't a good trainer, he couldn't just lose him. 'Vy!Vita said smacking him gently with a vine. Trey yelped more in surprise than anything but the action did serve to snap him out of his thoughts. Vita gave him a serious expresion that might be a call to stop feeling bad for himself or a call to pay attention to her and Trey chuckled. "So you think he went that way" he said turning the way his Snivy told him to. Okay...yeah sure." .

"Are you sure he went this way?" Trey asked following Vita, it seemed to him they had been walking for a while now and hadnt seen hide or tail of their missing pokemon. Vita nodded with another 'Vy' and Trey found he really had no argument for that. She was serious, his starter, even as short a time as he had had her Trey noticed that. She seemed to like taking charge, and it chagrined him that that meant telling him what to do. Not sure thats how the whole trainer deali-o's supposed to work. Still he had to admit it was sort of nice, Trey was used to obeying he wasn't good at leading. His father like to say it was because he didnt have strong enough character for it. But then Trey had been born right before Seth, his youngest brother and rules of the house said that he had to listen to everyone older than him-which in his case meant everyone else. With 4 of his 5 brothers being older than him, it wasn't often that Trey even got the chance to tell anyone what to do. And even with Seth, it's not like I really tell him what to do. He's basically the stereotypical good child, I hardly have to tell him anything before he does it himself. Still he found he couldn't really resent his younger brother. Seth was too quiet and sweet to really be angry at. Trey found that the boy's Good Child Act ( if it was even an act, worked on him too) I was gonna miss anyone....it'd probably be Seth. Trey thought. A cry from Vita made him snap out thoughts on his brother and look at a rocky uphill path in front of him. Just up ahead he could make out a lilipup resting in the distance.

Trey tried to be as careful as possible as he made his way uphill, the best not to spook Chance as he approached him. He wasn't sure what the range on a pokeball was but he figured that the closer he was to Chance the biggest chance he had to catch him. Now that would have been horrible pun if I had said it out loud, the boy thought with a grin. Vita was back on his shoulder apparently thinking that it would be easier to move more swiftly that way. She wasn't really wrong. While she had been incredibly helpful so far, his starter had....well, she had really short legs. If Trey had to wait for her to catch up to his longer strides it'd probably take him twice as long to reach Chance. Minding his steps to be quiet ( something Trey had had a lot of practice thanks to his father and the punishments he often heaped on the boy) Trey creeped closer and closer to Chance. One..two...three more steps and he'd be able to. He had taken maybe two more steps before the lilipup's head shot up, startling a yelp out of Trey. One second later understanding dawned on Chances eyes of what Trey intended to do with the pokeball, another one and the pokemon was on his feet and running away at top speed. "No..not again! Chance Come on!" Trey called out taking after the lilipup again. .

Wild Lairon appeared! Level 6.
Battered sneakers pounding on the uneven terrain underneath them Trey ran making sure this time he kept hie eyes on Chance. Unfortunately for him, this meant keeping pace with the lilipup Trey made sure he took in enough air as he ran this time, not wanting to have to stop again when he was so close to catching Chance. "Why. Are you. Even running" the young Treyson shouted out more exasperated than anything. Looking back Chance gave what could be described as a playful bark and ran off faster. "..Of course." Trey muttered pulling at the strings on his hoodie and following after. He just...wanted to play. Why wouldn't he just play fetch like a normal dog pokemon. Okay so Trey hadn't exactly been around dog pokemon long enough to know what was normal but why why did Chance have to go and chose the 'Make My Trainer Go On Terrain Better Designed For Army Vehicles'. Chance took a sharp turn into a nearby cave and Trey staggered but managed to follow. Before he could properly see what was going on he heard a yelp and saw a brown blur run back between his legs. A large pokemon, grey and seemed to be made of steel roared at them. Trey staggered backwards tripping on what was probably a rock and falling on his rear. Vita jumped down Vines rising threateningly, ready to protect her trainer. Still Trey knew she probably wasn't strong enough against a foe that large. The Lairon charged. Trey grabed his pokemon and shut his eyes in fear. .

Out Of Constant Worry: average level calculated by adding levels and dividing by 3
Esben didn’t respond to Julie’s inquiry; he was focused on finding some kind of sign relating to the whereabouts of his missing pokemon. He did bristle a bit at the use of that nickname again (why did she keep calling him that? It was not his name!) but ignored responding. There were more important matters to attend to at this moment.
Not that he’d found anything helpful. In fact, it was very frustrating and his cheeks were turning red from it. "I know that! I’m lookin’ for tracks and stuff! Or or… signs! That he was here!" He huffed again, palming his nose in agitation. It was clear this was beginning to upset him, as hard has he tried to hide it. It was one thing to lose any of his other pokemon, but to lose Byr? That just felt irresponsible and that fact was beginning to loom over him.
Flef chirped and wiggled in delight as a cascade of warmth passed over him from Tria’s flaming mane. His one eye focused in on them and just stared as though hypnotized by the fluttering. It was so entrancing and he wondered if he could eat fire. Not right now, of course, he didn’t actually have a mouth or anything, but if he ever got a mouth he wondered what they might taste like. It was definitely an odd and dangerous though and it quickly fleeted as the distance was placed between him and the pretty horse.
Esben shot Julie a grumpy glare, bristling again. "She might! Some pokemon can talk to you!" He’d heard it himself! Or, been told as much anyways. He hadn’t exactly ever encountered a pokemon that talked to him directly but Julie didn’t need to know that. At about this point though, she wasn’t wrong that if there were no signs of them around here than they probably weren’t there. Which was even more annoying and upsetting.
"... Fine…," he huffed, arms crossing over his chest in defiance despite his words. Teeg gave a little chirp and nudged the back of Esben’s leg with her head. She could tell he was unhappy, but that kind of attitude would get them nowhere. It was a good thing Julie was here to put some optimistic energy in the air. The young Viking tilted his head at Julie’s questions, mulling over the thought for a moment. It would be kind of cool to ride a horse; he’d only ever been allowed to do it with his sister or uncle’s help. This would be one of the few times where it was just him! Sort of. Julie didn’t look much like a horse rider.
"... Okay." Grumpy as he was, this was not an opportunity to be missed. He looked at Trai to get an okay from her to climb up before doing so with about the same level of grace that Julie had. Maybe even less; he wasn’t exactly dressed for ease or comfort (at least normal comfort anyway). Setting in behind Julie, he wiggled a bit in his seat on Tria’s back, looking down to his pokemon. "Stay close, okay? Don’t get lost!" Because he didn’t need any more of that. The crew gave their own responses of confirmation and with a nod, Esben looked back to Julie. "Okay, I’m ready Juuuullieee," he didn’t miss her messing up his name in some way again and would’ve pinched her at that moment if it wouldn’t have risked him getting knocked off of Tria. Maybe later though.

Julie blinked a few times at Esben's bold claim. "Yer lookin' for tracks 'n stuff?" she repeated, peering curiously at the ground he was searching through. She pondered that a moment. ".... Are you a ranger or somethin'?" That seemed like the kind of thing they would do. "Or didja learn from Mightyena or somethin'?" she added in piqued curiosity. Maybe pokemon taught him or something? Then again, with how Esben was dressed, he could be used to doing all kinda weird stuff. Or maybe it was part of some game he was used to playing or something, like how she liked to play pretend that she could solve all kinds of crimes when she would make believe with Trey.
She drew back and just watched curiously as Esben continued looking around, but just swayed back and forth a little at the boy's protest to her fair point on Tria's ability to communicate with them. "Yeah but Tria can't," she insisted quite certainly, still looking at the other. She didn't seem too bothered, even as he clearly continued to get more and more wound up. Was it cause his pokemon was still lost? 'Cause hers were too, and he hadn't had any problem pointing that out to her just a second ago! She looked over at Chico, and leaned down to pet his head, drawing the pokemon's attention from the pacing child up to her for a moment. He still seemed pretty stressed as well-- was everyone so anxious 'cause of this? She supposed she wasn't really feeling all that great, either, but, it was best to try and be optimistic, even in situations like this.
Letting the boy's concession just pass along, Julie focused on trying to dry Flef, and then get on Tria's back. She was lad when he decided to join her, though honestly, even if he hadn't, she would have been happy to have been able to start riding on her back to get through the tunnel. She wasn't lazy, but it was really fun! And even if Esben was in a bad mood, she would have had fun mocking him from way up there, especially when she quickly started getting ahead and outran him! She securely held Flef, and nestled the pokemon as best she could between herself and Tria's neck as she scooted up a bit with Esben getting on behind her. "You too, Chico!" she added, turning to look down at her pokemon as Tria rocked herself, and finally shoved herself up onto all feet. It jostled the kids hard, but Julie grabbed hold and leaned forward, starlted a bit, but grabbing on hard. It was the worst part, and though she gasped and her heart stuttered, Tria shifted herself to intentionally catch them, and stayed still so they could adjust themselves and get their bearings once she was standing.
The downside to a fiery main? Nothing to actually hold onto. Julie dug her fingers into Tria's withers and tried to clasp her legs together to hold on, her arms to either side of Flef to keep the pokemon nestled in safe, as Tria started a slow and steady walk. It had been a little bit since she rode on the pokemon's back, and her eyes lit up-- it was still literally the absolute best. Julie beamed, despite the dour circumstances, as Tria moved beneath them, powerful muscles working smoothly as she stepped carefully over rocks and carried them through the cave, occasionally ducking her head to avoid any low hanging stalactites and outcroppings. "Where do you think Byr and the others might be, Esben?" Julie asked after a moment, glancing back at him as she ducked a little low as well, even though, being much smaller, she wasn't really in any danger of bumping her head on anything in the cave.

Anubis nodded his head towards Rye as the feline made note of his appearance. Someone got it at least. The canine thought back to the Halloween event and the costume he'd worn. Sure he could put it on again, but in reality it wasn't to practical to wear such things. "I don't really like wearing anything bulky and paint makes my fur feel weird." He mentioned, thinking back to a time when Reina had tried putting gold make-up on him during an event, but they had to rush out and attend to a call his fur made him distracted and it wasn't a good time for either Reina or Anubis so they resolved together to never put make-up or paint on him again. Gazing over to Rye as the feline explained his own name and how he'd come to be called as such the canine rose a paw to his chin. "Interesting. So you in a roundabout way choose your own name?" Anubis replied. "Nothin' wrong with that. Reina doesn't force us to go by the names she's picked out, but well... Everyone with Reina sorta owes a lot to her." Anubis explained. He was sure everyone was happy with their names regardless.
Anubis nodded when Rye made the assumption that he is a protector of justice. The canine held a paw to his maw as Rye explained his own 'duties' "Oh, yea I picked that up at that spooky event." Anubis explained. "I don't blame her. I'm not that scared of ghosts, but I can understand why some would be. Those buggers are kinda hard to deal with at times." The canine gazed away, hoping that Anka wouldn't find out he'd said that. He was safe in a dream right? With a nod, Anubis gave a grin to Rye. "Yea. I'm always striving to get stronger, if not to protect Reina, but to also protect those who we're trying to keep safe." being a cop, then PI his duty is always to uphold justice and protect those weaker. Much like many of the Pokemon Reina now called family.
The humans during this time had continued on the path away from the large towering tree towards the much taller mountain in the distance. When the dirt and grass covered path slowly started to turn into gravel they knew they were getting close. Reina smiled her usual smile as Rose's disposition seemed to shift. The image of a shy, timid young woman turned into a bubbly happy personality. "I don't get out of Lumiose all that often, so this is a nice change of pace." The Egyptian added. Technically she still wasn't out of lumiose, but there was no need to bring of technicalities. Gazing over to Rose, Reina smile turned into a grin as the girl began to rapid fire questions at her. "Whoa, now. I'm happy to answer any curiosities but give a lady some time to register your questions." Reina chuckled. Shaking her hand and head. "Let's see now, I got into police work because... well, I just found it interesting. Bringing in criminals and doing the public service by protecting them from the ne'er-do-wells. I mostly worked in Lumiose, but sometimes a case would take me to other places. I haven't really been outside Kalos though, not my jurisdiction." She explained. 'Course if she really wanted to she could take up the International Police's offer for a job. Something about that thought never sat right with Reina. Miss Assistant wouldn't be able to come along.. and what of all the locals who were like family to her? She couldn't abandon Kalos for a bigger paycheck. Nah, She was happy being a PI. "Private Investigation is much like police work, but I have much more hoops to jump through when I want a warrant for a case." Which was very true in most cases, as sometimes officers acted as though she was stealing work from them. "Working with clients on a one-on-one bases however, is much more rewarding." Reina continued. "To see their tears of joy when I find their missing persons or Pokemon... when I can finally put a stalker or abusive spouse or parent behind bars..." But then there were the harder cases... the ones Reina often didn't want to recall. Cases like where most of her Pokemon come from. And cases that she wasn't able to solve... not in time at least. "I've actually lost count of how many criminals I've apprehended. But catching a criminal is often the easiest part of my job... making sure they get their just desserts is another issue." Even with all the evidence in the world... sometimes it wasn't good enough and some bad people slip through the cracks.

"Well yeah! That’s what you’re supposed to look for when yer tryin’ ta track somethin’!" He made a face at the question; had Julie never done tracking before? Or did she not know how it worked? What did she think he was looking for? After all, had Byr been there to see he wouldn’t need to be looking for any signs of where he’d gone! And so on and so forth. When she inquired where he’d learn to track from he grinned a bit, only to have it faulter briefly. "A wah- no! I learned it from my sister!" He huffed, cheeks puffing out a bit in agitation. Sure, there was plenty to be learned from a pokemon, but he didn’t have to do that! He had adults who knew how to do that kind of stuff and totally taught him how to do that kind of thing!
What a silly response.
His huffing and cheek puffing didn’t end there though and he had to try his best not to flush red at the point Julie made. "But she might," he hissed back, stomping a boot into the ground. Sometimes, if you just listened hard enough, you could totally understand what a pokemon was saying! Unfortunately, he couldn’t focus to totally prove that this was a thing you could do, and instead just gave an exasperated sigh.
"Whatever," Oi, this adventure was proving to be taking a tole on him. An adult of a higher caliber might’ve suggested it was nap time. It was a good thing there were no adults around. Esben stopped in his pacing after a time, watching as Julie took the opportunity to try and dry Flef off by holding the fuzzball close to Tria’s mane. He looked briefly concerned, as though the act was about to set the ball of hair on fire and that would be a really terrible thing to have to witness, but relaxed when it became clear no such thing would be happening. Flef wiggled and chirped excitedly as he was once again held close, trying his best to lean in towards the flickering before being tugged down and cradled in Julie’s arms once more. D’aww.
Then again, the change resurfaced and he was excitedly wiggling and trying to roll himself (despite having absolutely no grip on Tria to keep from falling) towards her mane. It was probably a good thing Julie was doing such a good job of keeping him in check because at about this point, Esben would’ve dropped the fuzzball. Like twice.
Esben took his place on Trai’s back, just behind Julie. He made sure there was just enough space for his to grip his hands at her sides, tightening his grip with his legs as she kicked up to right herself. "Woah!" He squeaked as they were jostled, teetering briefly and grabbing the back of Julie’s lightly as though that was somehow going to help him. Once they were right though, he immediately let go. "Ah, sorry." He grumbled. It’d been a while since he’d been on a horse and usually, he was lifted onto them, never climbing himself. It was an odd experience to be re-experiencing.
And they started moving and Esben found himself tightening his legs and digging into the short hairs of her back (as gently as he could muster of course) to try and find some semblance of a hold. It was… kind of cool actually, to be riding a horse by himself. Well, almost by himself; without an adult at least. Maybe he could find his own pony and learn to do it by himself! That’d be pretty cool and his sister and cousin would be impressed when they discovered he could do it!
"Hm… I… I dunno," he responded, dunking a bit in tandem with her actions. His face contorted in thought and he briefly glanced back at their following pokemon. "If they were all kind of together in the beginning, then maybe he went to go find your sheep? Or they ran off and he went to chase them ooorrr… they were never together, to begin with. Or he went looking for me! Byr’s always been with me, he hardly ever gets lost," there were so many possibilities for where Byr had gone that Esben couldn’t just pinpoint one. He’d like to think that the bear went looking for him or maybe the sheep, given that he’d left Isi and the others in the cave. There had to be a reason right?
"Do you think there’s a way out of the cave that they found?" That’d explain why they hadn’t found them just yet. He closed his eyes and just listened in silence for any odd noises. If they were around, they would hear them. The walls echoed with every little shuffle that happened. The noises they made were identifiable. After a minute or so, the frown on the Viking’s face as he finally opened his eyes and squinted against the darkness. "Didja hear that?"

Julie scrunched up her nose as she took in that information, trying not to look skeptical. She guessed that made sense, sorta. It hadn't looked like that was what he'd been looking for, though! She was still pretty sure he'd actually been looking for his pokemon under the shards of glass, which was pretty silly if you asked her. She continued to give Esben a look that was a fair share of dubious curiosity until he clarified who had taught him, and perked up instantly. His sister taught him?? Questions flitted into her eyes as she stared back at him, her fingers gently curling in Flef's fur. "Yer sister?" she reiterated with open awe. Before she could really ask more, though, they needed to keep moving, and, well, argue, as was apparently the case for them.
At Esben's insistence that Tria might talk back, Julie made a face, rolling her eyes up, and shaking her head forward mockingly, but didn't say anything else. She was pretty sure that that conversation literally spoke for itself-- or, uh.... oppositely? Didn't speak for itself? Silenced for itself? Whatever. Tria wasn't talking, so she was right, and Esben was wrong, and he was being dumb again. Was this a boy thing? She was pretty sure she remembered some of Torin's older female friends warning her that boys were pretty stupid, but she'd already known that. Still, Esben was kinda setting a record here.
Then again, also, Julie was a child, and everything was stupid, unless it was funny, or overwhelmingly impressive.
Julie giggled, even more excited by Tria's jostling of them when Esben cried out in surprise, too. Her stomach squelched in fear as she nearly fell, and she gripped tightly at what she could, but she rather than fall onto the ground, she tumbled into a small, nervous fit of giggles instead. It lasted only a moment, until they had settled in and both wiggled themselves comfortable and balanced. Once they were there, Tria started walking, her neck curving ever so slightly to let her glance back at the two. Julie was still beaming. "Hehe, for what?" she glanced back at Esben, straightening some and securing her hold on Flef. She hadn't even really noticed him grab onto her-- probably because she was too busy grabbing onto whatever she could get ahold of, too. It wasn't exactly something that really bothered her much, either. She was, obviously, more touchy than he was.
She tried to focus on getting the rhythm of Tria's movements under her, biting her tongue between her teeth a bit as she concentrated, but eventually she had it down enough to start asking questions. She tried to peer back at Esben, but with Flef so weirdly unbalanced (he was really rolling around up here!) she was sort of having a hard time taking her focus off just maintaining her position. "It kinda sounds like it coulda been any've 'em..." she commented, looking down at Flef in front of her, "But I bet he went looking for you! It makes the most sense." Most pokies would have, right? She mused over the thought a moment, and looked up, while Tria continued guiding them through the dark cave. It was a good thing she was a fire type; she was providing transportation, and a lot of light while they walked. They were able to see all the rocks, and even into the shadows dancing around the cave when they walked by! So even if Byr were hiding for some reason, they'd prolly be able to spot him, somewhere.
"I think so.... I mean, I dunno. There's gotta be another way though, right? How else could they a got in here?" she tried to reason out, looking around with careful eyes. This place wasn't nearly as pretty as the room before, but it was still kind of cool looking. So long as there weren't anymore mean pokemon lurking around. That crab pokemon thing had to have come from somewhere, too, after all.
She perked up some as the sound of Tria's hooves scrapping the cave floor was joined by something else echoing off the walls around them. She glanced down, tightening her hold on Flef and squeezing her legs together to try and keep a grip on Tria as she peered over at their pokemon. They all seemed to still be following along and everything... Her head jerked up as a sound echoed a bit louder, and she peered anxiously into the darkness, trying to see past where Tria's flames sent shadows dancing. "U-uhm.... Maybe. D'you think that might be Byr?" she asked, trying to hug Flef close, and lean forward. She hugged onto Tria a bit better, her stomach knotting anxiously. She'd sorta heard about horsey pokemon spooking, so... just in case Tria jumped, she didn't want to go flying off into the rocks.
