Walking Pokemon ⇨
The more Jin looked at the uniquely colored tyrunt, the more he felt like maybe he had seen the pokemon before. But from where? He hadn't really been anywhere that he would see something like that, at least not lately. There was a chance he had maybe seen the pokemon sometime before joining up with Sable, but that would be a few years at the least. If he had, the pokemon would surely have evolved by then if it wanted to. No, he was pretty sure if he saw the pokemon, it would have to have been after joining up with Sable, but he hadn't really seen much in the way of dinosaur pokemon since then. Neither Ezra nor Avonlea had anything of the sort for the time they had been traveling together and Jin was pretty sure the only one Darren could have caught was a standard-looking one that his incense might have summoned. The group didn't really see much in the way of fossil pokemon while at Tanabata, either, nor were there any in the haunted house. That really only left...
"Oh!" the disguised zoroark suddenly exclaimed when the realization hit him. "Weren't you at that renaissance faire a while back? The one where all those Plasma operatives decided to cause trouble?" Jin had clarified when he realized the other pokemon might not know the difference between that specific kind of fair and any other sort. Or in case the pokemon had gone to multiple faires, since Team Plasma running around causing trouble was... pretty distinctive. It also explained why he hadn't recognized the pokemon straight away. After all, he was kinda busy, what with all those operatives trying to go after him for his little rant, Sable getting attacked yet again (seemed he had picked a rather unlucky human for a trainer), and then that overpowered gothitelle showing up and needing to be taken down. Although he was pretty sure by now that something else was making the fight far more difficult than it should have been, since that psychic type's accuracy should have been ground into the dirt with how many times he fired off his signature move.
Sable looked back at Jin with an uncertain expression on her face. "Are you sure? I don't remember seeing any pokemon like this one there," the teen questioned before looking back at the black tyrunt. At least it seemed more peaceful than the various psychic types that were pestering the teen for the moment. Speaking of which, Sable could hear Lily fighting what was probably yet another troublesome wild pokemon. Soon enough the fight was over and the gekkit padded back over to sit near Jin's foot. The disguised zoroark let out a chuckle before picking up one of his trainer's empty pokeballs. "Yeah, I think I remember spotting a tyrunt like this one while running around. Probably. I had to do quite a bit of running around to avoid being beaten up too badly by those grunts while getting Asriel back to Gavy." While he explained, Jin tossed the empty ball at the pokemon that Lily had knocked out, a baltoy. The ball wobbled a few times after sucking the strange pokemon inside, but soon clicked shut and teleported away. Jin hoped these pokemon were actually being caught and not just complete figments of whatever was going on around here. Luna seemed to have gained some sort of permanent effect from her own nap, so the zoroark wasn't entirely sure what would and would not transfer over when this was all done.
Sable raised an eyebrow at Jin's lack of confidence in his memory of the tyrunt, but she couldn't really point any fingers there. Her own recollection of events after Zinzolin's speech was quite fuzzy. That ferrothorn that whacked her on the head probably had something to do with that. Even though she recovered quickly, head trauma had a funny way of scrambling memories at times, particularly ones occuring around the time of the injury. The teen supposed she should consider herself lucky if that was all that got screwed up from that hit. Still, she trusted her zoroark enough that if he claimed that he recognized the pokemon and wasn't getting into a scuffle with them, they were probably friendly, so if Origin let her she would reach out and give the dinosaur a head rub. "Well, it's nice to officially meet you... Um..." Sable blinked, then turned her head towards Jin again. "Did he give you a name when he spoke earlier?" The gender was kinda just a stab in the dark from Sable, since it actually was kind of hard for her to tell the difference sometimes if they weren't a species with obvious differences. Jin shook his head lightly. "No, not yet. Just a hello," the dark type replied, not quite as uptight about hiding the more useful aspects of what he was since the only humans around were Sable and Darren. The tyrunt obviously had a trainer but Jin had no clue where they were hiding, or even if they were in the same area.

Darren was really upset with the way this Oranguru was treating both its pokemon and Sable. Unfortunately, he had his own onslaught of pokemon to deal with, albeit poison types instead of psychics. Presently, Darren was fighting off a Trubbish, or at least he was trying to while covering his face and keeping a safe distance from the noxious smells. "Quick, Diana use—!" Darren hesitated. It still felt wrong to issue a command of a fairy type move against a poison type. This dream world was really messing with his head. The basic type match ups were all bass-ackwards here. Hard to believe, but Darren had seen the evidence with his own eyes. Or, well, in his dreams. "S-swift...!" He gagged out the command, and with that, Diana unleashed another storm of tiny, pink, sweet smelling stars. They smashed into the Trubbish, knocking it to the ground and making it fall limp, giving Darren a chance to catch it and register the data on his pokedex.
"Trubbish, the Trash Bag Pokémon. Trubbish prefer to live in dirty places like garbage dumps. It is said they were born when a chemical reaction occurred between an abandoned trash bag and industrial waste."
Darren shuddered at the idea. "That explains the smell... I don't know how Azalea can stand it..." He grumbled quietly to himself. The woman's nose had probably been burned out with chemicals from her lab long ago, given how long she'd been shut in there. By the time Darren finished up, Sable and Jin seemed to have sent the Oranguru packing by finishing off his pokemon and Jin threatening to turn him into a monkey crisp if he didn't get out of there. "I guess that's one way to deal with the problem." Darren suggested with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood. Mostly though, it was because he was concerned about Jin acting so aggressively. Not that he could blame the Zoroark, given how Sable was the demented monkey's target.
Darren was also reluctant to release all of his pokemon as Sable had, but he watched them all nonetheless. He was particularly interested in the Eevee that was now shiny instead of her normal soft brown colors, and accumulated quite the number of things. This dream was making less and less sense, but he went along with it anyways. "Ah... I believe that's a z crystal. I'm not very familiar with Alolan traditions, but I have heard a few things, like how they're rumored to use these crystals and special dances to execute powerful moves. We would need to talk to a native or travel to Alola probably to get more details." He explained the best he could.
The sudden flash of light caught their attention as they noticed the Oricorio had changed forms. Unfortunately Sable's pokedex didn't have any data on the bird, so Sable tried scanning it with her P*DA. "What model is your pokedex?" Darren asked as he scanned the Oricorio with his own to see if he had any luck.
Oricorio, Baile Style, the dancing pokemon. This Orivorio has sipped red nectar. It beats its wings together to create fire. As it moves in the steps of its beautiful dance, it bathes opponents in intense flames.
Darren read on while Sable tended to her pokemon, observing the red nectar jar that the Oricorio had drank from. "It didn't evolve, it seems these Alolan native bird pokemon have the ability to change form depending on the nectar they drink. There's different flowers on each island that produce special kinds of nectar. This red nectar changes Oricorio to the Baile style, which is fire and flying. The form it had before was the Pa'u style, psychic and flying, and there's two other forms. It's quite a versatile pokemon! You should keep it and find more nectar to change its form when tactically advantageous." He suggested.
Sable also seemed to notice that another of her pokemon had evolved into a Butterfree. "Well... Bug pokemon evolve rather quickly. Blink and you'll miss it. Wait... When did you even get a caterpie?" He asked with a chuckle, following her and Jin who were trying to talk to a Tyrunt. "Careful... Tyrunt tend to be temperamental..." Darren whispered in warning. Given all the aggressive pokemon they'd been dealing with, he didn't want to take any chances. However, it seemed Jin recalled seeing the Tyrunt before at the Renaissance Fair, which gave Darren some relief. Trained Tyrunts were usually better mannered than wild ones, and this one seemed friendly enough.

It seemed Darren was having a bit more trouble than Sable with how type matchups worked in this weird dream world. The teen couldn't blame him, since it probably went against just about everything the hopeful future professor had learned about battling. At least the male didn't seem to be quite as badly swarmed as Sable had been so far. Just a few poison types rather than a couple dozen psychic pokemon. Thankfully, his eevee (one of them, anyway) had evolved into a sylveon and was perfectly equipped to take out any of the toxic pokemon that wanted to cause trouble. It was fair to assume Darren still found all these poison types he was attracting unpleasant, though, considering how he grumbled after capturing the trubbish and looking at its data on his pokedex.
With both their troubles momentarily taken care of, Sable was able to give Darren a light smile in return for his comment. Not much more than that, though, since she started letting out pokemon to treat them. And to let them enjoy the beach, but mostly to heal the various pokemon that got hurt during the battle against the weird ape pokemon's team as well as from when they were awake earlier. But when Luna popped out, Sable had a big distraction in the form of the eevee's new appearance along with a bundle of loot that had materialized with her. One of the crystals in particular had caught the female trainer's attention and prompted her to ask Darren if he knew anything about it. The male did have an answer for her, but it caused Sable to tilt her head in confusion. Alola? Weird dances? "Yeah, I guess so," she ultimately agreed, since there really wasn't much she could ask on the matter without sounding really ignorant.
Instead, the teen was more than willing to turn her attention to Luna's bird friend when the pokemon suddenly started glowing and shifted form. Sable had mistakenly believed the pokemon evolved, and the fact that her pokedex gave her almost no information on the bird didn't help clear up that misunderstanding. "It's just a pokedex from Unova," she answered when Darren asked what model hers was. "It spat out information for roselia and beedrill, so I assume it has the national upgrade instead of being stuck with just regional. I guess I must have missed an update or something between that renaissance fair and me getting hit with that flamethrower in Vermillion." The teen hadn't thought the events were that far apart but maybe they had been traveling longer than she had originally believed.
Fortunately, Darren's pokedex was a lot more up-to-date than Sable's had been and actually gave some information on the bird pokemon. Enough that the other trainer was able to clarify that, rather than evolve, the oricorio had simply changed form to something called Baile Style and traded her previous psychic typing for the fire type in the process. Sable grinned and nodded at Darren's suggestion. "Yeah, it sounds like that would be really handy for defense," the teen agreed, then put a hand to her chin as a thoughtful look crossed her face. "Although, the other part of the description... Does that mean she could learn fire moves in her current form, too? Or psychic moves if I found the right nectar to feed her?" About the only pokemon the teen had heard of before with anything like that capability was rotom. And, well, one or two myths about Arceus but the teen probably shouldn't count legendary or mythical pokemon. Those sorts of pokemon didn't appear before and partner with just anyone.
With so much to process, it was no surprise that the surprise metapod the teen had let out suddenly evolving into a butterfree was just kind of... accepted by Sable. Darren had unhelpfully pointed out that bug pokemon in general tended to evolve quickly, but the comment got her to let out a tired chuckle so maybe it had helped after all. That chuckle sounded a bit more enthusiastic when Darren suddenly asked when Sable had gotten a caterpie in the first place. "When we were stuck fighting those grunts at the fair," she answered, then clarified. "Her ball fell out of the sky and hit me in the head. I tried asking about it when heading to the lost and found with Jin, but no one came to claim her." As she spoke the teen noticed that Jin was talking with a black tyrunt, so she went to greet the pokemon as well.
Although Sable couldn't understand a word that the black tyrunt was saying, Jin didn't have that problem. A large grin broke out across the disguised zoroark's face as the small dragon introduced himself and identified who his trainer is. "Origin huh? That's a pretty unique name," he commented before letting out a chuckle. "I'm Jin, by the way." The dark type was pretty sure the tyrunt hadn't been around when introductions were passed around at the fair, anyway. "I'm Sable," the female trainer chimed in, since it seemed introductions were going around now.
That was about all the duo got to say before Sable felt Aria fly off her head. Turning to look at where the swablu was going, the teen saw that a pair of wynaut had waddled up to pester some of her pokemon. "Hoo boy..." the teen groaned as the blue bird pokemon managed to knock out one of the two psychic types. Not that the battle was a difficult one. Like so many others, Sable tossed a pokeball and caught the downed psychic type so that it wouldn't cause any more trouble for a while. That still left the other one but it seemed like Aria could take care of that, too.
While Sable was distracted, Jin was actually a bit curious about something. "So how has Evan been since the fair?" the disguised zoroark asked. Jin didn't really know much about the green-haired trainer, but from what little the trainer had said, the dark type could guess Evan had a knack for getting himself into some odd situations.

As you may have seen earlier, I realized at one point that I had royally screwed up Lily's experience points somewhere down the line. Specifically, that she was level 18 but needed 35 experience points total to hit level 19. XD So, I spent a day combing through to fix her experience points and gather necessary links. Initial capture of Lily, first time Lily was placed in Active Party, where the big oops to Lily's experience points required occurred, Lily was removed from active party, and Lily was placed back into active party. After sifting through and counting everything up, prior to this post Lily gained a grand total of 340 experience points since her initial capture, which should put her at 15 levels gained since capture with 10/30 experience points remaining, so adjusting her to level 20 with 10/30 experience points before applying the experience from this post. If I need to also dig up the area transition posts, let me know.

Walking Pokemon ⇨
Like the first wynaut, the second was defeated easily. It just took a lot of pecking from Aria to do it. Helping the matter was that the only things the psychic opponent could really do were cheer the bird on into using her attack multiple times or try to act cute in what would normally make opponents less willing to inflict damage. It actually was a decent strategy, locking an opponent into a move that should do poor damage due to a weakened will to fight, but the cute act didn't have its intended effect in the dream world. Instead, it just made Aria's attacks hit harder, and that meant lights out for the wynaut. Once the odd psychic type lost consciousness, Sable tossed a pokeball at it and watched as the pokemon was sucked inside. Once, twice, even three times the ball wiggled as this wynaut had more fight left than the previous one. Still, the pokeball eventually clicked shut and warped away just like the others had.
With the wynaut duo dealt with, Sable quickly checked her pokedex and let out a light sigh at the number of pokemon she had captured so far. One box in her PC was already full up and the second one already had a handful of residents. The teen was probably going to have to do some sorting later. Plus, there was the matter of how strong some of her pokemon were getting in such a short span of time. Whether it was because of the number of pokemon the incense had attracted or something about this dream world itself, the power of the teen's pokemon was skyrocketing. On the one hand, it was frustrating, because that meant yet again she would be back to square one once she defeated Vermillion's gym leader, since most of her pokemon would yet again either be too strong or ill prepared to face Striaton's gym leader. On the other, it looked like Oaken was close to evolving soon and, even though the teen wasn't sure the sassy servine would be willing to listen to her for much longer, explosive growth like her other pokemon had been experiencing might be enough to push the serpent pokemon over the edge and help him evolve into a serperior. That was... Actually almost exciting to think about, the fact that her starter pokemon would finally hit his final stage.

Speaking of Oaken, the grass serpent wasn't getting much of a chance to relax in the sunshine. A few psychic types had come over to pester him and were actually getting really annoying. Especially a pair of chingling ringing by his head. At first the serpent pokemon tried to ignore them, since he was far too comfortable where he was laying to want to get up and battle the two little psychics. Unfortunately, the longer they kept at it, the more the pair of chingling were getting tired of being ignored. Eventually one of the little bell pokemon started wrapping the little rope-like appendages on the top of its head around the little leaf-like flourish sticking up on the top of Oaken's head, trying to tie itself on. "Hey! Knock that off!" the servine shouted, finally fed up with the antics of the little psychic pokemon, before ducking his head and twisting his body to slap the bell pokemon away with his tail.

Although one of the chingling went down easily, the other was undeterred in its attempt to make a nuisance of itself. It, too, attempted to wrap itself onto some part of Oaken's body, this one focusing on the bit sticking out around the grass type's neck. The frustrated serpent had a snarl on his face as he swung his body to perform another attack. "I said quit it!" he hissed as he slammed the other chingling with his leafy tail, sending this one flying as well. Both of the small bell pokemon had been knocked out, each only needing a single blow to lose consciousness. "Serves you right!" Oaken huffed before laying back down on the shore to resume his sunbathing.
The noises that her servine were making attracted Sable's attention over to the shore. The teen let out a light sigh when she saw that yet more psychic types had decided to pester the group. It was starting to seem like there would be no end to them. "Geeze, at least only that stick got hit," the teen commented as she grabbed a couple of pokeballs. "I don't want to think of how bad things would be if one of those paper lanterns had been lit up." In this world where type effectiveness was turned on its head and weaker pokemon had faster reflexes, the thought of being swarmed by a hoard of ghosts made the teen shudder as she recalled some of what happened in that haunted house years ago. With that mildly chilling thought in mind, Sable tossed the two pokeballs at the pair of chingling. Both were captured easily and the balls teleported off to somewhere else.

For a few, glorious moments, Oaken was able to lay on the beach in peace and soak up some sunlight. It didn't last, though, as a wild spoink eventually sprung over to hop around the already aggravated servine. That wouldn't have been quite as bad if it weren't for the fact that the bouncy pig pokemon insisted on getting right between the sun and Oaken. The grass type let out a sigh of frustration as he looked up at the spoink. "Go away! I just want to relax!" he whined from where he was laying belly-first on the sand. It seemed as though the servine's complaints were going to fall on deaf ears since the pokemon not only continued to hop where it was and block the sun from the grass type, but it even sent a beam of psychic energy at the serpent pokemon! The damage was completely laughable due to Oaken being plenty strong enough to deflect all but the bare minimum of damage from the attack, but still! It attacked him! "You asked for it..." the serpent warned before quickly moving and smacking the pig pokemon hard with his tail like he had the pair of chingling before it. The spoink was larger, so it wasn't flung nearly as far as the little bells had been, but it was still knocked a good distance away.
This time, Sable had noticed the trouble before attacks started flying and already had a pokeball at the ready. Probably a good thing, too, given how spoink's heartbeat was tied to its bouncing and if it was knocked on its side before going unconscious, it probably wasn't going to be able to keep the beat going. With a strong toss, the teen was able to hit the spoink with the pokeball and watched as the pokemon was sucked inside. The ball didn't even shake before clicking shut and teleported away soon after. The teen grimaced a bit as she realized that, when this incense finally wore off and she finally got a break from all these psychic types, she was going to need to figure out what to actually do with most of those pokemon. Other than maybe recording some evolutions in her pokedex, there were really only a few psychic types the redhead was interested in. She wasn't actually sure of what she was going to do with the rest. Maybe trade some to Darren? He did have some interesting rock types from using his incense back in Mount Moon, and then there were a few neat pokemon among the poison types the incense he dropped was attracting. It would at least be a little easier for his intended goal of completing his pokedex if she let him have some of the extras.
A bright, white light broke Sable from her thoughts. Checking around for its source, she saw that Oaken was glowing brightly and his form was shifting. His short legs and stubby leaf arms sank into him as his main body grew longer and wider. A lot longer. By the time that Oaken's form was done changing, the grass type's head was just lower than Sable's by a couple of inches, but the teen was pretty sure the serperior was showing off at this point. "Wow, looks like Oaken's all grown up," the teen commented as she looked over the grass serpent. The red and gold pattern that had made up most of his back now covered the majority of his body, leaving only his neck and the lower half of his head white. Sable couldn't help but chuckle as Oaken started trying to slither over... but couldn't as his body just pushed the sand under him to the side and he started accidentally burying part of his body. The teen guessed that not everything about an evolved form came naturally.

✦ ✦The mist was thick as it swirled around them, though it seemed to keep more around the sides of the path and obscured the area they had just left as they traversed along it and made it easy to keep track of Aria as she led the way. Bit by bit up ahead the mist began to give way, revealing a great stretch of white sand that preceded a vast, glittering sea that seemed to stretch endlessly into the distance. The sun was bright in the sky overhead with barely a trace of clouds to be seen, and while it felt a bit warmer here than it had back at the tree it was hardly even uncomfortable in spite of them being fully clothed. Upon arriving, Aiden was immediately smacked in the face with the familiar sweet salty air that wafted around the place, the blonde inhaling deeply to draw in the very essence of the ocean. This place very much reminded him of home, it almost felt like being back on Five Island again. The waters looked so pristine and clear, and even without dipping a finger in it he could surmise that it surely felt cool and crisp.
”Mmmmm, smell that? That’s the smell of adventure right there!”Daguerro yipped as he walked a bit of a ways past Aiden, eagerly tapping his paws against the sand to find that it was pleasantly warm rather than blazing hot,”Hey hey, how deep do ya think the water is? I bet there’s all kinds of hidden treasures n’ goodies to be found out there!”The blonde chuckled at the Jolteon’s eagerness, bending down momentarily and scooping up a handful of soft white sand, letting it trickle through his fingers. ”It definitely looks pretty deep, should be careful not to get lost out there~” he said with a warm smile, humming as he ran his fingers over the small pink conch that was left in his hand from the sand he’d picked up. He wondered, though… since this was a dream could they technically dive down into the ocean and reach the bottom of it without worrying about running out of air? That sounded like a very interesting idea to try out, the islander in him was just itching to jump right into that sparkling blue sea. From where they stood on the beach he could make out the shapes of various aquatic Pokemon swimming just below the surface of the water, from rotund Wailmer to broad-winged Mantine, and occasionally the bright flickering lights of Chinchou could be seen from deeper down. In the distance on the surface, a small pod of Lapras leisurely coasted by, singing happily amongst each other and occasionally diving into the water to resurface with a great splash.
”So what do you think? Wanna go for a little swim?” Aiden asked, glancing over towards Natalia curiously. Of course he was definitely going to go for a dip regardless, but it was only fair to ask if she might be interested too, right? And since this was a dream, they could just change into swimsuits in the blink of an eye no problem. Aria eyed the water somewhat warily, as nice as swimming sounded going into the ocean hardly sounded the most ideal given that she was a Fire-type. Even if it was a dream, she and water didn’t exactly get along too well, and the Delphox preferred to not get herself wet unless she absolutely needed to clean her fur.”The water certainly looks nice, but I think I’ll be fine with relaxing here on the beach in the meantime,”she spoke up with a small smile, looking up and down the stretch of coastline thoughtfully. Thalia, on the other hand, was a bit uncertain as she took in the sight of the vast expanse of water before them.”D-Don’t know… Looks scary…”the Sylveon pipped meekly as she instinctively pressed closer to Natalia. She hadn’t exactly gone swimming before so she wasn’t sure if she’d even really be good at it, and from sheer size alone the ocean looked very daunting to the little Fairy-type. But, it should be fine as long as she stayed close to Natalia and Aiden, right? Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to try…✦ ✦

While Oaken tried to get used to moving with his body now that he didn't have legs, Sable sprayed him down with a potion. Even though those chingling and the spoink hadn't done much damage to him, the grass serpent still had some scuff marks marring his skin. Although, it looked like the pokemon had seriously outgrown the basic potions Sable typically carries. They were cheap, sure, which meant she could have them in bulk for when she and her team had some extended downtime and could afford to use a dozen or so of the bottles, but they were inconvenient for battles. Not that Sable liked using much in the way of items during battle. Quite frankly, the teen hated to stoop to pulling out potions or berries in the middle of a fight. Still, if the teen was going to keep running into jerks like those Rocket grunts in Mount Moon or those Plasma operatives at the fair, Sable figured she aught to probably invest in some proper healing items more suitable for her team's strength in case she really couldn't afford to lose.
While Sable was yet again buried in her thoughts, a beldum decided to barrel through the pokemon gathered along the shore. Unfortunately, it collided with Lily, seriously hurting the both of them. The startled and damaged gekkit began to cry, making all sorts of ear-splitting noises as she did so. Eye wide, the wild beldum shot backwards a good foot as it watched the little fox pokemon curl up in her little bamboo shell and cry. Then, slowly, it approached the little pokemon. Eventually the steel type was a few inches from the fairy fox and began making some sort of odd sound. Lily started to quiet down, her howling sobs gradually degrading to squeaky hiccoughs. After some time, she poked her muzzle back out of her collar and sniffed at the beldum before giving it a small lick on the side of its... head? The steel type suddenly shook in the air before falling to the ground unconscious. Now it was the gekkit's turn to go wide-eyed and once again she was making sad yelling sounds. About the only thing that got her to stop was Sable tossing a ball at the downed steel type to capture it and keep it from getting damaged any worse, then taking a potion and spraying what was left of the bump that the gekkit unintentionally stole the beldum's life force to heal.
After the beldum was captured and Lily was calmed down, Sable glanced towards the beach again. It looked like a couple more people had come to check out the shore along with their pokemon. Although they looked to have some pokemon that the teen would very much like to coo over, neither of the people at the water's edge looked familiar to the teen so Sable wasn't very interested in going over to chat with them. Not when she was still being harassed by psychic pokemon. Although, seeing the two other trainers interested in the water gave Sable an idea, so she went over and tapped Darren and Jin on their shoulders to get their attention. "Hn?" When the disguised zoroark turned to look at her, Sable gave both the males an apologetic look. "Hey, I'm gonna go take a dip. Since we're at a beach and all," she told the duo. "Hopefully the water will wash some of the incense scent off, at least in this weird dream world. Did either of you want to come?" Jin had an odd expression but after he let out a sigh it was replaced with an apologetic smile. "Nah, I'll stay on the shore and keep chatting." Granted, that was partially dependent on if Origin wanted to continue talking with him, but if not maybe one of the newcomers would be interested in chatting. "Besides, I can catch any stray psychic types that incense might attract while you're down there having fun. But see if Oaken or any of the eevee want to go with you," the dark type suggested as he shoved his hands into his pockets.
Sable nodded a bit at Jin's 'advice', recognizing it for the veiled request that it was, and grinned a bit regardless of what Darren's answer was. "Alright, I'm sure at least one of them will want to spend some time. I'll also see about bringing some balls and berries, just in case," she assured the dark type, then went over to where her pokemon were either playing in or relaxing on the sand, depending on the species. "Okay, so who feels up for a swim?" the teen asked, and almost immediately Sol and Luna made some loud, excited noises as they hopped and pounced around the teen's feet. "Okay, okay," Sable giggled as she bent down and pat whichever of the two stayed still long enough to let her do so. "So that's two for a little swimming adventure. Anyone else?" The teen straightened up and looked at the rest of her pokemon, although it soon became obvious that there would be few takers for their trainer's offer. Most of Sable's team had wings that probably wouldn't handle getting wet very well, especially Honey and the butterfree whose thin, cellophane-like wings would be weighed down by even a small amount of water. The others mostly just wanted to bask in the sun for one reason or other, to the point where the only other pokemon that was actually willing to join Sable on her undersea adventure was Oaken. Probably because the eevee that he always seemed to have a problem with was intending to stay ashore.
With who was going where settled, Sable flashed a grin towards Darren and Jin. "Well, if I'm going swimming, I might as well look the part, right?" she asked as she recalled how easy it had been to imagine up those items for her pokemon to enjoy. Surely it would be just as easy to dream herself into a swimsuit, right? Well, yes, just not how she expected. Almost as soon as she pictured herself in her swimsuit of choice, and even with a bag to match so she'd have something to put items in, a thick, dense cloud of white smoke appeared around her with a small explosive sound. It didn't hurt or scatter debris anywhere, but whatever the cloud was made from caused Sable to cough as she tried to wave it away with her hands. Jin started laughing at the sight, having a good idea of what just happened and finding it hilarious. "Sh-shut up!" Sable shouted between coughs as she carefully stepped her way out of the smoke cloud that was slowly dissipating. But this time, instead of her usual outfit, she was wearing something that Darren might have recognized from when they went to Tanabata: the same bikini that she had worn during their rest at the hot springs. She even had a bag to match this time, primarily dark teal with black accents and a black strap. Surprisingly, though, most of the scars usually scattered across her body weren't there, with one glaringly obvious exception. The burned bite mark on the back of her right shoulder looked about as bad as usual and seemed to be the only one that seemed to actually carry over into the dream world, and like back at the hot spring Sable's long hair did little to conceal it due to being braided.
Now that she wasn't coughing on smoke, Sable grinned at the two males and adjusted her dreamed-up bag so that it was slung across her left shoulder. "Alright, I'm ready! I'm gonna head in!" she announced cheerfully before heading to the water, Sol and Luna following closely behind. Oaken wasn't quite as quick, still getting used to slithering through sand instead of just walking, but once he actually hit the water he did a bit better. Sable was actually quite hopeful that Darren would go in with her, but if he would rather stay on the beach with Jin and the other pokemon that was fine too. She would just have fun without him. Just her, Oaken, and a couple of eevee. There was no way Sable would dampen Darren's spirits by even implying that she would be disappointed if he stayed behind.

Oaken and the two young eevee wasted no time diving down to explore the sea once they were in the water. It seemed that none of them had a problem with moving around in spite of the serperior still not being used to his new form yet. The group of pokemon didn't even need to hold their breath underwater, a fact most likely due to this world being some sort of large dream. Still, rather than join them immediately, Sable bobbed at the sea's surface for a while and kept an eye towards the shore. In spite of her insistence that she was going to go have fun, she really would prefer if either Darren or Jin went with her. The two of them seemed more content to stay ashore for the moment, though, so eventually the female trainer relented and dove to catch up with her pokemon. No reason to be boring and just float when there was probably a lot of colorful things to see down below.
While Sable was enjoying herself with a dive, another psychic type - a bronzor this time - floated close to the group. As the sentient metal plate inspected the odd collection of pokemon, it seemed particularly interested in Lily and kept trying to get a closer look at the fairy fox. Unfortunately, the gekkit was not as interested in being inspected and kept trying to flee and hide behind Jin's legs. Undeterred, the bronzor quickly followed after, with the end result being the psychic type chasing Lily around the disguised zoroark to the point where Jin didn't feel like he could take a step without either tripping over someone or stepping on them. "H-hey, come on now. Both of you just calm down and-" Jin's warnings fell on deaf ears as the bronzor suddenly shot forward and collided with the gekkit, knocking both of the relatively small pokemon to the ground.
What had been an accident quickly turned into a small scuffle as Lily let out an upset mixture of yips and yells before charging at the steel type. Since the bronzor had already grounded itself by mistake, even with her stumbling it was simple enough for the gekkit to pounce on the living metal plate. The landing wasn't a clean one, ending up a bit sprawled out, but she had landed on her opponent and was now pinning it to the ground. Careful to keep the bronzor under her, Lily got her paws back under her body before sapping the steel type's health with a draining kiss. Almost as quickly as it began, the fight was over and the only sign that there had been a problem was the unconscious bronzor. "Geeze. At least that move lets you heal yourself," Jin commented as he tossed one of the pokeballs Sable had left behind, watching as the ball sucked the fallen steel type inside, clicked shut, and suddenly teleported away. Lily let out a proud chattering sound as she moved to sit over by the disguised zoroark's feet.

Walking Pokemon ⇨
Even though it hadn't taken long for her pokemon to figure out they didn't need to hold their breath, Sable was still rather reluctant to just start breathing normally. Dream or no, it was still hard to do something that would normally cause her to drown and die. Even being willing to dive deep down was a bit more difficult than one would think, since her instinct was still to turn back and start heading up as she felt it become more difficult to keep holding her breath. Sable had to keep mentally telling herself it was just a dream and that she would be fine to continue exploring. She supposed she could have just bypassed the issue and just dreamt herself up one of those super-compact rebreathers but she really didn't want a thick cloud of smoke poofing in her face along with it.
Even though she was fighting instinct most of the time, the sights down below were well worth the nuisance. Everything was so colorful! various schools of fish pokemon swam through the waters, shifting positions as they moved to make interesting shapes with their formations. What light there was that filtered down from above reflected off their scales, making the patterns even more mesmerizing than they normally would be. It helped that the differing fish pokemon came in a variety of colors, from white and orange from the goldeen to black, blue, and pink from the finneon and just about everything in between. On top of that, there were several beds of coral spread out along the sea floor like colorful bushes straight out of some fantasy or sci-fi story. Some of the smaller fish pokemon seemed to be making their homes in the branches or holes of the reefs, while larger ones nibbled at them. Probably looking to eat some algae, tiny fish, or whatever else it was that fish chewed on coral for.
Back at shore, Jin was keeping an eye on the rest of Sable's pokemon. There were still some psychic pokemon coming over to pester the group, but nowhere near as many as there had been. It gave some of the team members a chance to relax and rest, even if they did have to deal with the occasional interruption. Even Lily seemed to be getting a bit more comfortable with her surroundings, expressing interest in the unnamed eevee's antics. Said eevee was pouncing at something - or several somethings - along the beach before digging in the sand. "Heh, go on. I'll be over here if you need me," Jin encouraged with a chuckle when he heard the little fairy fox whimper. Lily let out an excited yip and ran off to join the eevee, kicking up sand as she hurried along. That just left Jin and Darren standing around, since it seemed Origin had gotten distracted by something.
The two small foxes yipped at each other excitedly before going off to investigate the sandy shore. The eevee was apparently looking for treasures to dig up. Shells, fish scales, maybe a wild pokemon or two. Lily was more than willing to join in on the little adventure. For the most part, all she was able to contribtue to the treasure pile was a few colorful shells. At one point, though, she found something black that looked to be made from plastic or glass sticking out of the sand. She let out a few loud yips to get the eevee's attention before carefully pawing around the object to dig away some of the sand. She scratched and dug, and by the time the unnamed eevee had come over Lily had cleared enough of the sand and dirt away that she could pull the black glass thing out of the sand and get a good look at it. What she had hoped was some sort of treasure turned out to be a pair of sunglasses that had gotten dropped and were eventually buried. For a moment the gekkit looked disappointed, but then the eevee wiped away as much of the sand as he could with his paws and tail. He then picked the sunglasses up with his mouth before carefully fitting them on the fairy fox's face. Lily let out a few yips and the eevee laughed with amusement.
Jin watched the antics of the two foxes for a while and waited a few moments, mostly making sure that Origin wasn't really paying attention to them, before letting his expression drop to something more solemn and exhaling slowly. The dark type shoved his hands in his illusion's pockets and shuffled his feet uncomfortably. Occasionally he glanced around to make sure things were still going fine with the rest of Sable's team, but most of the time his gaze landed on Darren. A couple of times Jin looked like he wanted to say something, but shut his mouth with a soft grunt and lightly shook his head as if thinking better of it. Finally the dark type let out another sigh before conjuring himself up a folding chair and plopping down in it. His shoulders and head were slumped as he tried to relax, digging a small hole in the sand with the heel of his illusion's shoed foot.
After having soaked up some sun for a while, the butterfree slowly shifted her wings a bit to feel how dry they were. Rather than being heavy and slow like they had been while damp, the thin wings moved quickly and easily. Cautiously, the bug put a bit more oomph behind the beats of her wings and felt herself start to lift off the ground. Excitedly, the butterfree put more and more power towards her attempts, and with one great push sand was scattered and the bug was airborne. With several pleased churrups, the flying bug was more than happy to just get used to actually being off the ground and having more freedom with her movements. When a solosis decided to float around her, though, she felt it was a good opportunity to get used to actually battling while up in the air. Her and the solosis had a quick contest of psychic power while trying to keep aloft but, likely due to how this strange world worked, the squishy psychic type soon fell to the ground.
Several happy noises distracted Jin from whatever funk he was in. Turning his head to look, he saw that butterfree that seemed to come from almost nowhere was flying around an unconscious solosis. "A-ah, I'll take care of it," he said as he went and grabbed a pokeball from the pile of stuff his trainer had dreamed up earlier. As the dark type walked over to take care of the downed psychic type, he ended up passing by the butterfree. Said bug was flying over to the pile to nab a few berries. A small smile crossed Jin's face as the dark type chuckled, but it seemed forced somehow. Rather than give the others much time to dwell on it, though, he walked over and tapped the solosis with the empty pokeball to capture it. He felt it shake a couple of times, but soon enough the ball clicked shut and teleported away to who knows where. Jin shook his head a bit, then walked back to his chair to sit back down. He didn't plop down this time, but he still seemed somewhat troubled as he sat.

✦ ✦Aiden gave a small smile and a nod of understanding to Aria, even in a dream world like this a Fire-type like her likely wasn’t too keen on being in the water. From the looks of it, he didn’t see any beach chairs on the shore, not that it would be hard to conjure one up if they really needed to. ”Well, maybe you can find a nice spot and make yourself a seat there if you’d like,” he suggested, giving a cursory glance along the shore. The area in general was pretty quiet save for the rushing of waves and the murmured chatter of the few other people around them. Aiden glanced over as a red-haired trainer headed for the water, bobbing on the surface for a bit before diving down to join the Pokemon that had followed after her.”Ah, that does sound like quite a nice idea~ I’ll go find a good place to relax in the meantime,”Aria chipped in happily, already moving to scope out a place to park herself while Aiden and Natalia had their share of fun,”Would you like to come with, Mimi?”Not that she’d mind if her Espeon friend wanted to join in with the two trainers for the time being, Nyomii would likely want to keep a close eye on Natalia just in case. In fact it probably might be better that way, the Delphox admittedly still felt somewhat bothered by what had happened earlier.
Ah, that reminded him, maybe he should let out the rest of his Pokemon so they could all enjoy the beach too. It wouldn’t be fair to leave them out on all the fun, after all!”Aaaaaiiiiideeeeen~!!!”just as Aiden moved to retrieve the rest of his Pokeballs, he suddenly found himself being pulled into a gentle hug by a certain Bewear that seemed to have appeared out of thin air. ”Heh, hey buddy, good to see you too,” the blonde said with a chuckle once the momentary surprise had passed, patting Mogwai’s arms in greeting. Strange, he hadn’t remembered letting the big bear out of his ball just yet, how had he suddenly appeared? ”Uh, where’d you come from, though? I was going to send you out just now, actually,” he asked as the Bewear released him, turning around to face the big bear Pokemon fully. Mogwai tilted his head somewhat, seeming deep in thought as he considered the question.”Mooooogwaaaaaiiii waaaaas iiiiin oooootheeeer plaaaace? Liiiike dreeeeaaaam plaaaaace, buuuuut…”Mogwai dithered somewhat, unsure of how exactly to explain the odd dreamscape he had ended up in and his fight against Darkrai,”Moooore liiiike niiiiightmaaaare, Moooogwaaaiiii thiiiink… Buuuut maaaaade neeeeew fuuureeeends! Mooooogwaaaaiiii kniiiiight noooow toooo!”Aiden couldn’t help but smile at the Bewear’s recollection, while it was definitely worrying that he had ended up in some kind of nightmare-like world at least he had made it out alive and well. That the big bear had made new friends was relieving to hear since he at least hadn’t been alone, and while the knight part was admittedly a bit odd it was clear that the Bewear was quite happy about it.
”Well, it certainly sounds like you had quite the adventure!” he said brightly, ”Even so, I’m glad to see you made it back in one piece, and that you made some new friends along the way~” The Bewear nodded eagerly, he really hoped he would be able to see his fellow knight Daphnes as well as Dune and Chickpea again sometime soon. Although, the more he thought about it… Mogwai couldn’t help but feel somewhat troubled that he had neglected to ask who Dune and Chickpea’s trainers were, at least so that he would have names to go by. Still if all else failed, Dune’s colors certainly stood out and made him easy to identify, Mogwai made note to keep a close eye out for a black and blue Dunsparce with large wings if they ever happened to run into each other again. Regardless, the Bewear’s enthusiasm never wavered as he bounced happily in place.”Yeeeees! Neeeew fuuuureeeends reeeeaaaallyyyy niiiice, hoooope seeeee aaaaagaaaaiiiin sooooon!”he rumbled cheerfully, ears perked and eyes bright. Aiden’s smile widened, glad to see the big improvement in the Bewear’s mood, definitely a step in the right direction to help him hopefully start to recover from whatever awful things he’d been subjected to in that Void lab.
”I’m sure you will, buddy, we’ll have plenty of opportunities to maybe run into them in the future,” he assured with a nod, ”In the meantime, however, would you like to go for a swim?” Upon hearing that, the Bewear finally seemed to register where they were, the bear blinking in awe as he looked around the beach.”Sooooouuund niiiiice, buuuut Mooooogwaaaaiii waaaant reeeest nooow. Swiiiiiim laaaateeeer,”the big bear said with a thoughtful nod. The adventure through the dungeon-like nightmare world had taken quite a bit out of him, and while he did want to have some fun in the water he felt like he needed some time to just relax and recharge for the time being.
”Alright, feel free to come join when you feel up to it,” Aiden said with a hum of understanding, reaching for his belt and retrieving the rest of his Pokeballs, ”Come on out, everyone! Let’s have some beach fun!” One by one his Pokemon appeared, Evelynn and Annabelle in particular were especially excited to be out and about. Seras, on the other hand, seemed uncertain of what to make of the strange dream-like world around them, the Mareve nervously looking around as she took in the oddly realistic feel of salty air on her face and the warm sand under her paws. Kaizer pawed idly at the sand, casting a quick glance around as if searching for something in particular, growling thoughtfully under his breath as he took in their new surroundings.
”I don’t suppose any of you want to go swimming?” Aiden asked, glancing between his gathered Pokemon. Kaizer huffed and shook his head, more than content to move off to find a nice spot on the beach to rest. Everyone else seemed more interested in relaxing on the beach or playing in the sand, and Seras likely wouldn’t appreciate getting her wings wet. Well, guess that made just himself and Dag for the time being, with Mogwai and possibly joining them later. ”Well alright then~ Aria, would you mind looking after Seras in the meantime?” he asked, remembering how nervous the Mareve had been when he’d handed her over to Miss Sybil back on Four Island. He wasn’t sure if maybe she had some kind of separation anxiety, but he certainly didn’t want to leave her unattended and Aria was by far the most trustworthy when it came to looking after younger Pokemon.”Certainly~ Here, sweetie, you can come with me for now,”the Delphox chimed soothingly as she gently scooped Seras up into her arms. The Mareve stiffened somewhat at the sudden contact, but upon sensing the calming, motherly aura radiating from the fox she began to steadily ease up and moved to rest her head against the soft fur of the Psychic type’s chest.✦ ✦

✦ ✦”So just you n’ me then? Awesome, let’s get goin’ then! Last one in’s a rotten Poke-egg!”Dag barked as he wiggled excitedly, growing a touch impatient as he immediately bolted towards the water. ”Ah, Dag! Hold on!” Aiden called out, though the Jolteon didn’t seem keen on stopping as he took a flying leap into the water, a good-sized splash accompanying his dynamic entrance. ”Heh, sorry, guess he couldn’t wait any longer,” the blonde chuckled sheepishly, offering a small apologetic smile to Natalia, ”I’m going after him, just so he doesn’t get lost or anything. Feel free to join us if you want to!” With that, Aiden quickly sprinted after Daguerro, not wanting to lose sight of him. Closing his eyes momentarily he quickly conjured a change of clothes as he ran, exchanging his typical outfit for a pair of simple tropical patterned swimming trunks. Sure enough, the Jolteon was already diving into the water just as Aiden began wading in.
”Hey, slow down a little, Dag!” Aiden called once more, to no avail however as the Electric type was cannonballing through the water towards the depths. Goodness… He supposed he couldn’t blame Dag for being so excited, though, it had been so long since they’d last gone for a swim in the ocean back on Five Island. Taking a cautionary breath on instinct, the blonde boy dove under, paddling as quickly as he could to try and keep up. Of course, being an Electric type, Daguerro was definitely much faster and it didn’t take long for him to lose sight of the Jolteon. ”Dag? Hey, don’t wander off too far!” he called again. It took a moment for him to realize that he had let go of the breath he’d been holding when he’d done that, and another few moments after an instinctual spike of panic that he found the water to be as easily breathable as air. And he could still speak clearly underwater, which was definitely good to know. With that more or less resolved, Aiden focused on taking in the sights of his surroundings. Large schools of fish Pokemon weaved their way through the water, forming an interesting variety of huge shapes as they swam around each other. He even saw a titanic fish Pokemon that he didn’t recognize, and upon closer inspection was surprised to see that it seemed to actually be composed of hundreds of much smaller fish. How curious!
As he drew closer to the seabed deep below, the sight of an enormous, sprawling coral reef greeted him. He’d seen quite a few before, as they tended to grow along the fringes of the islands in his homeland, but they weren’t quite as impressive and colorful as this one. Numerous fish Pokemon swam around, weaving through rifts and valleys between the coral beds and occasionally ducking down to hide inside a cluster of coral. Aiden found himself fascinated by the variety of aquatic Pokemon that lived in these waters, some of which were completely new to him. He could see a few strange looking creatures crawling along the sandy floor around the coral beds, though seeing the spike-tipped tentacle-like appendages that surrounded them and the crown of spikes framing the tops of their bodies he figured it’d be best to not get close to them. Still, he really should be trying to find Dag, hopefully the Jolteon hadn’t gone too far and was keeping himself out of trouble…
Slowly drifting just above the reef, Aiden carefully glanced around for the familiar sight of spiky yellow fur among the fish and coral, just barely catching himself before he almost crashed into someone else that he only just noticed now. ”Ah, sorry, sorry! Didn’t see you there for a moment,” he quickly apologized as he recollected himself, pushing himself back a little to put some reasonable distance between them. Turning his full attention towards whoever he’d nearly collided with, Aiden blinked in faint recognition upon seeing that it was the red haired girl he’d seen going into the water not that long ago. ”Sorry about that again, I should’ve been paying more attention to where I was going,” he said, a sheepish smile on his face as he nodded in greeting to her. He pursed his lips somewhat, eyes quickly looking around briefly for a moment before settling back on the red haired trainer once more. ”I, uh… don’t suppose you happened to see a Jolteon pass by not long ago, have you?” he asked, wondering if maybe she’d caught a glimpse of Dag if he’d come this way. Or at the very least she’d be able to point him in the right direction, hopefully.✦ ✦

Darren nodded as Sable guessed her pokedex was missing an update. "They're constantly updating the pokedex as new species are found, so I try to keep mine updated regularly. If you don't... Well... Suffice to say you've had that experience now." Darren chuckled. Not that he blamed her for missing the updates with all she had going on—he was trying to just be helpful—but it might have sounded a touch critical, in the way that teachers could be to students, or parents could be when gently chiding a child. Not that Darren meant to come off that way, but sometimes it came through unintentionally in his tone.
Thankfully, his pokedex was able to shed some light on the mystery pokemon from Alola, and they were able to glean some useful strategy information. "I'm not certain, but there's one way to find out. I know that some form changing pokemon like rotom tend to change their moves along with their type, while other pokemon can retain them. I'm not as familiar with the Alola region, so we'll have to test it. Maybe even take a trip down there to gather some different nectars~" He suggested.
When Sable recounted her tale about how she'd gotten hold of a caterpie, it was both amusing and sad. He hoped the caterpie hadn't been chucked or abandoned, but now he was certain that with Sable, it had found a good home. "Well, if it was abandoned, it's better off with you anyway." He suggested with a nod of approval.
As Jin further conversed with the familiar Tyrunt, he seemed to learn it's name was Origin, which started a round of introductions. "O-oh, are we introducing ourselves? I'm Darren." He felt a little thrown off, but otherwise didn't mind much. Jin seemed happy at least to learn more about Evan, whoever that was. Based on the context, Darren guessed it was another pokemon they knew, or perhaps Origin's trainer.
Before Darren could pursue the thought, an angry screech caused him to cover his ears. It seemed there was a zubat fluttering around and having difficulty navigating about the dream world due to the lack of echolocation. Darren, though he was painfully aware of what Zubat were, still scanned the little bat pokemon with his pokedex.
"Zubat, the Bat Pokémon. Zubat are blind Pokémon with supersonic powers. They prefer to live in caves and hate to fly outside in daylight."
That probably explained why the zubat was so angry. "Dianna, why don't you use swift to knock it down so I can catch it and keep it safely in a pokeball?" He instructed, and with a nod, Dianna took a moment to send pink stars at the screeching little bat. Thankfully, swift was a highly accurate move that honed in on the tiny target and quickly knocked it out. Unfortunately, Darren was not as accurate with a pokeball and panicked as the little bat began falling down out of the sky as a result. So instead, he ran over, waited, calculated, and gently caught the falling bat in his arms. "Sorry about that... We'll get you tucked away and safe now." Darren offered soothingly as he took out his pokeball and caught it.
With the zubat taken care of, Darren turned his attention back to Sable, who seemed to have been distracted by Oaken's troubles with a pair of chingling. "Yes... I have quite a bit of incense myself, and this situation has made me realize that I should probably have some flame protection put on them, lest the whole bag go up in flames in an unfortunate accident and we attract all sorts of pokemon to us at once." He agreed. Speaking of unfortunate accidents, Darren nearly flinched when he noticed a sudden blinding light, but thankfully it just turned out to be Oaken evolving. "Indeed! He looks very handsome." Darren agreed, admiring the serperior's dark fall coloration.
After fighting off a beldum, it seemed Sable had quite enough of dealing with the pesky psychic types and decided she wanted to actually enjoy the beach since they were here, but also partially in hopes of getting rid of the incense scent. That logic would be sound if they weren't in the dream world, but Darren didn't bother to comment on it. If Sable wanted to swim, he wasn't going to deter her. "I'll ah... Consider it." He was still a little hesitant about how the Dream World worked, and literally jumping into the deep end on this made him a bit wary. Then again, that was all the more reason to go after Sable, was it not? Even though she was taking some pokemon with her, Darren hesitated.
His thoughts were distracted as Sable flashed him a smile. "Well, if I'm going swimming, I might as well look the part, right?" She then conjured herself the same swimsuit she'd worn at the hot springs, only this time Darren got an eyeful of the full thing. No steam or water hid any part of her, and Darren's train of thought completely derailed and crashed. There were no survivors. He could do little but gawk, sputter, and then quickly avert his gaze with a light blush as Sable adjusted her bag and announced she was off.
Darren couldn't even look. He pointedly kept his gaze away until he'd heard the tell-tale splashing sound that ensured Sable was covered up with enough water such that he wouldn't be inappropriately staring. Then he heard Jin chuckle and insist he go on ahead. "I-I don't know if I can..." He stammered, glancing up at Jin only to realize he was talking to Sable's gekkit, not him. "Oh... I thought—" He shook his head. "N-nevermind." They stood on the shore in awkward silence for a while. Darren could have sworn he felt Jin looking his way a few times, but when he glanced over at the illusion, Jin seemed focused on something else. Was it just his own imagination? "You've been quiet lately..." Darren commented softly. "It's not like you. I'd fully expect you to be teasing me by now, though I'm grateful that you aren't." Perhaps admitting that was a mistake, but Darren just laughed it off.

Walking Pokemon ⇨
Although she tried to keep the pokemon that joined her in sight, Sable couldn't help but dive down the rest of the way to the sea's floor to investigate the coral reefs. Occasionally various fish pokemon would pass by close enough that she could touch them if she wanted to, most of them not caring more than necessary to avoid bumping into her but a few curious and investigating the trainer. A few remoraid even started nibbling at her back, trying to pick off some flakes of dead skin and causing Sable to giggle. "H-hey stah-hah-hahp! That tickles!" she laughed as she tried to twist and rotate away from the fish pokemon. It didn't really stop the remoraid from nibbling at her, just kept her back from being what they were poking at. In a way that was worse, since the fish were still nosing at her and, while it wasn't so bad when they were just nibbling at her arms or legs, it felt far more ticklish when they nibbled at the insides of her joints or around her midsection. So Sable was stuck laughing and squirming for a while until the remoraid were satisfied and swam off to find someone or something else to nibble at.
Free from the peckish remoraid, Sable took some shaky breaths to try and help what was left of her laughter die down. Although, once she was a bit calmer, she noticed that she had moved significantly from where she was when she was so 'viciously attacked' by the playful fish pokemon. Specifically, she was quite a bit deeper in the coral forest than she had intended to be. "...Oaken? Sol? Luna?" Sable voiced cautiously as she turned around to try and spot the three pokemon. Her serperior was still in sight, but the trainer was a bit worried when she didn't see either eevee at first. Thankfully, between her swimming upwards a bit and one of them having noticed her call their name, it didn't take long for the teen to catch sight of Sol and even less time after that for Luna to pop into view. Sable let out a light sigh of relief before waving at the pair of foxes. "I'm just going to be in this area! Stay in sight and don't wander too far!" she called out to the pokemon before diving back down to the sea floor. She heard several yips of acknowledgement from the two normal types and noticed them swim over to where they weren't quite as concealed by rubble or coral branches.
With her pokemon settled, Sable looked around at the colorful environment she was in. It really was a shame Darren and Jin had stayed up on the beach. Sable would have liked to just had some company, maybe listen while Darren spouted little tidbits of knowledge about the various pokemon in the area. Or heck, just had someone else to enjoy the scenery with. Still, just because they weren't here, that didn't mean she couldn't show them some of what she was seeing. She did have a dream version of that camera she got at One Island, so hopefully that would still work okay in this weird dream sea. Plus, it probably wouldn't hurt to take a few pieces of coral back up to the surface to show them. Sable wasn't going to go ripping chunks off the reefs, but no doubt there were several small branches or pieces buried in the sand that had cracked and fallen off the main clusters already, either naturally or because some pokemon bumped into them. Not to mention some other nice-looking items partially buried under the sand such as colorful shells, stones, and shards.
As she was carefully reaching between the branches of some coral to pluck up from the sand a small shell that looked some shade of blue or green depending on how the light hit it, Sable noticed that someone was getting a bit too close to her and not watching where he was going. "Woah!" The redhead quickly swam to the side to keep from being bumped into by the other swimmer, not really wanting to risk being knocked into anything rough or spiky. It seemed her sudden exclamation got the other person's attention and prompted an apology from the trainer. Sable couldn't help but chuckle a bit as she tucked the shell in her bag of treasures. "Oh, it's fine," the teen assured him as she gave the blonde a friendly smile. "You just surprised me was all." She floated around the other trainer a bit, trying not to turn her back to him too much. Sable might have been perfectly fine swimming around in a string bikini and showing off a lot of skin, but she was still aware that burn scar on the back of her shoulder could disturb people.
In spite of Sable's attempts to be friendly, something seemed to be bothering the blonde trainer. It didn't take long for him to ask if she had seen a jolteon come by. Sable frowned a bit in thought as she crossed the arm her bag was hanging off in front of her middle while the other held her chin. "Um... No, I don't think so. Sorry," she replied, then brightened as she had an idea. "But maybe one of my pokemon has! Can't hurt to- ...Uh..." As she started to swim off to try and catch up with an eevee or Oaken, she noticed that one of her legs wasn't exactly cooperating. More accurately, it felt like something was attached to one of her feet and holding it in place. "Um..." From the looks of things, some sort of strange purple anemone had trapped her left foot by wrapping its pink 'petals' around her ankle. Sable let out a small "Uh-oh," as she bent forward to try and unbind the tangle of tendrils and free herself. The sea flower's stem shuddered and a warbling squeak came from somewhere under the teen's foot, but rather than loosen the creature's tentacles tightened further.
"H-hey, c'mon! I'm not food, so let go," Sable insisted as she continued trying to carefully pull away the sticky tendrils that had her stuck. She let out a few grunts in the process because even though she was trying to free herself without harming what she was pretty sure was a pokemon, the creature didn't seem to have the same concern and was actually hurting the teen's ankle. The worst of it was when some strange shaped fish that looked like the 70s threw up on it started trying to chew on what Sable was pretty sure by now was a lileep, startling the pokemon and making it squeeze even tighter as it tried to bend its stem away from the weird fish. The teen hissed in pain as she dug an empty pokeball out of her bag. "Okay, plan b," she mumbled as she tapped the ball to the now-damaged lileep. Since the strange fish had done a fair bit of damage trying to chew on the fossil pokemon, the ball was able to break it down into energy and suck it inside fairly quickly. That freed Sable, but now she had an angry fish with a lot of teeth snapping at her for stealing its meal. She let out a yelp and swam away as best as she could, and thankfully didn't have to dodge the strange fish too long before a red and gold tail slammed down on the water type from above, knocking it out with one blow.
Sable let out a soft sigh and righted herself before rubbing Oaken's head. "Thanks pal. It's bad enough I keep getting injured while awake," she commented as she pulled out another pokeball. "Guess I better catch this thing so something else doesn't make a meal of it." One light tap with the ball, and it didn't take long for the psychedelic fish to be sucked inside. As the ball teleported to parts unknown, Sable recalled why she was even going to look for Oaken in the first place. "Oh yeah! Did you happen to see a jolteon while swimming around?" The red, white, and gold grass type tilted his head in thought before nodding and swimming upwards to give himself a better vantage point to point out which direction he saw the spiky yellow fox. The teen grinned a bit at the blonde-haired swimmer before following after her serperior. "Lucky us. Hopefully he hasn't gotten too far," she commented, hopeful that the jolteon Oaken saw was the same one this guy was looking for.
