A better way to pass the time than terrible jokes? Absolutely not, not in Jay's book. That was pretty much how he spent all his time, and it was how he made all his closest friends. Or well... some of them. That and weird conversations about shapes. Still, he smiled in enjoyment as they walked and talked, shifting the conversation to more personal past time conversations. He tilted his head some, both to listen more closely, and in thought, as Felix reminisced on younger years and goals, a quizzical smile curling his lips as he did. Just what did he define 'kid' as? Given some went out as young as eleven, it made Jay wonder a bit, especially since he mentioned he was doing a 'one last' run now. He hummed through a few thoughts on that, but decided to address one obvious thought first-- Felix's age. It would clarify at least a few things, as far as the guy's timeline went, as well as avoid any possible embarrassments on Jay's part when it came to addressing the other, or assuming anything.
Surprisingly, Felix was actually a bit older than Jay had anticipated. It probably showed on Jay's face, some-- given his lack of understanding of facial expressions, there was no reason to filter his own reactions, and his eyebrows raised some at Felix's answer, lips parting faintly as he took in the difference. It wasn't a big reaction, but, obviously he had, admittedly, been thrown off some by his voice. Perhaps not as much as Felix might have thought, though; Jay closed his mouth and a smile curved at the corner when the man voiced his understanding on his reaction, and a low chuckle escaped the ginger. "Well, I'll admit, I didn' expect ya ta be that much older 'n me, but I didn' think you were too young, neither. Ya've got a perty solid presence, in general, 'n that alone carries fer yer age, even if yer voice might be a li'l misleadin'. 'N your looks, I guess," he replied honestly. Never one to pull from the truth, Jay could come off a bit insulting at times, but, he meant what he said-- he would have guessed that Felix was in his late teens at most, if not early twenties, simply because of the man's attitude and the read he got off him. He had a maturity to him that felt more earned than just an old soul, that gave Jay the impression he at least wasn't a young teenager, and besides, even if echoes weren't a solid measuring system, he could tell he was at least taller than he was.
The brief distraction of a wild pokemon had their conversation winding, and Jay scratched his ear absently as they walked, still listening to Felix as he proposed a possible solution to Jay's experiment. The man smiled. "Yeah, true. I kinda figured he woulda piped up by now, though. Not sure what's goin' on, but he was the one that proposed I start catchin' some've 'em, so... There's prolly somethin' to this. S'a good idear, though. Next time he reaches out, I'll see if I can get a direct response." A grin blossomed over Jay's face. "'N maybe see if some berries suddenly started poppin' up 'round me, too," he added in jokingly. He sobered up some as Felix considered the matter of waking up, and his brow creased as he considered the man's thoughts on the matter. "Yeah that's.... true. Perty sure I just took a nap like I usually do," he admitted with a rueful smile. That was a pretty pitiful excuse compared to Felix's far more dire situation. He went quiet a moment, absently tapping his thumb against his hip, his hands slipped into his pockets as he walked. He didn't voice any more thoughts on the matter, but he was trying to think of any way they might be able to help Felix. Maybe if Rawly contacted him again, he could reach out, and see about sending for some help or something... if Felix wanted, that was. It sounded like the situation could probably use some intervening, regardless of whether the man's pokemon were (hopefully) still able to protect his unconscious body.
The echoes of the trees thinned and opened up, before sound became spacious and air flowed more freely against Jay's face. He smiled a bit, but reflexively pulled a hand out and held it slightly ahead by his hip. In a way, it was actually more unnerving not to be getting echoes, especially in a place like this, where things were so inconsistent. It meant something might be missed, something that didn't give enough fo an echo for him to get a good enough impression of before he ran right into it, or tripped over it. His shifted, too, going from sweeping for branches, to stepping a bit higher and moving more carefully through the air, almost like a rickety soldier's marching order. He could tell the ground sloped up from the feedback he got on his clicks, so there was no point keeping his feet low to the ground, but he didn't want to move fast and kick his foot into the ground with momentum, and trip forward, either. He sort of wished he had Heracross with him to make maneuvering a lot easier...
He turned his head from focusing on his adjustment when Felix spoke up, smiling some when he pondered out loud. "Well from what I can tell, they're at least solid. Or at least some've 'em-- not sure what yer gettin' on your end," he chuckled, catching onto the incline and picking up a better pace, before coming to a stop next to Felix. He pulled off his hat and ran a hand through his hair as the man let out his skarmory, Jay's eyes still closed as he took in a deep breath and listened. This place was still so odd, even with all the time they'd spent here. It felt real, but... it did have some dream like quality. He could feel the air in his lungs as they stretched and expanded, he could smell the pungent odor of grass beneath his feet, and the crisp freshness of the forest behind them, even the earthy soil below that, ever so faintly. He could hear voices, off in the distance, and the metallic scrape of Felix's skarmory as it shifted and steel wings rubbed together. He could feel the sounds ring through his ears, and the wind touch over his skin. But he felt ever so slightly pulled back from all the sensations, as though his mind was one step away from being pressed up to the reality of them all. When he first got here, it hit him all as more real than a dream, but being here, he was more aware of the faint distance. That something was ever so different from reality. He wasn't sure he would have caught on that this was a dream, a world based on dreams, if Ralward hadn't told him, but he liked to think he would have noticed something was off, even ignoring all the oddities with the echoes.
"I'll wait here," he added quickly to Felix, sensing that the man was getting ready to take off. He tugged his hat back on and held it in place, bowing his head as a gust of wind told him that the two had lifted into the air. He turned his head and clicked his tongue to make sure his own pokemon were still close by, and waited. Hopefully Felix could catch sight of a good place to head next...

Ryuu snorted and startled awake as something roused him from a deep, black out sleep. Ryuu brought his hands up and rubbed his face, his Squirtle gently rolling out of his lap in the progress. Man, things were getting rough for him if he was starting to doze off in the middle of the day against a random tree of all things. Standing up he kinked his neck one way and then back the other. ”Alright Blue, break is over lets…” Ryuu paused for a moment as he took in the tone of his voice - something that was so familiar and yet so alien to him at the same time. Looking down, Ryuu was initially stunned for a few seconds before a sad smile crossed his face. So… he was still dreaming then? Well, he would certainly take advantage of this dream to allow himself to be who himself instead of trying to fight his way through life as the girl that his relative’s pokemon turned him into, even if it was just for a short time. Still, he would enjoy himself as a male pokemon trainer for a while. Ryuu looked over at his still snoring pokemon and couldn’t help but grin a bit. Squatting down, he reached out and rocked Squirtle gently. ”Wakey-wakey, eggs and baccy, Blue.” A little turtle snort and a twitch of his facial features gave away that his little friend was starting to wake up. ”Mmm… five more minutes!”
Ryuu paused for a moment and took in that his pokemon actually spoke with him, this dream was getting a little stranger but at the same time being able to talk to your pokemon would be pretty cool. He supposed that there was no use in getting too worked up about it, it was just a dream after all. It wasn’t until Squirtle cracked his eye open a bit and looked at the male figure standing before him. Bolting up with some inhuman speed he squared off against the strange human male who had a strange resemblance to his female trainer.
”Hey! Who are you and what have you done with Miss Umbra?! I warn you, if you harmed one hair on her head…” ”Whoa, slow down there, dork. I’m your trainer.” Ryuu pulled out Squirtle’s pokeball as proof that he was indeed the trainer that he said he was. ”How can you not recognize me in my own dream?” Squirtle was clearly a little confused but did take a look around at the surroundings and noticed that they weren’t in Viridian City anymore. Still, Squirtle was sceptical about this trainers claims and decided to grill this human. ”Alright human, if you really are as you say who you are then you can answer a few questions… First question!
The pair went back and forth for a while, Squirtle letting no question go unanswered until the little water pokemon was satisfied, still rather confused, but satisfied that this boy was indeed the female trainer. ”Okay… I’m convinced but… I don’t understand. How can you be Miss Umbra?” Ryuu’s face fell a bit and his eyes dropped, even in this dream he couldn’t get away from what happened that cruel day. He gave a heavy sigh but brought his eyes up to meet Squirtle. ”It’s… a long story. I’d rather not have to tell it but… what the hell? I don’t have much to lose by letting you and the rest of the pokemon in on it. But let’s find a place to go and have some pokemon battles first. If Jay's expression was anything to go by, Felix being older than him was certainly not something the ginger expected. The trainer couldn't help but chuckle and express some sort of sympathy. Frankly, Felix was quite used to people underestimating his age, and he was more than willing to admit that. At least Jay was a bit of a better sport about it than most, claiming that the man's 'presence' and personality spoke more about his age than his voice or appearance would. "It's funny how many people don't notice that sort of thing," he replied absently, not seeing any offense to take. Heck, most people would take seeming younger than they really were as a compliment, at least to a point. At least Jay didn't think he was a snot-nosed kid, that would have been something to be offended by.
When Felix proposed that Jay ask whatever his psychic pokemon was if anything had changed, the other trainer agreed it was a good idea. He even commented that the pokemon in question should probably have contacted him by now. Felix thought for a moment on what could have held Jay's partner up before letting out a small chuckle. "Maybe he got distracted by a sudden snack?" he suggested jokingly... Sort of. Actually, if berries suddenly started appearing around the ginger, that probably would have been a distraction to at least some of the pokemon around him. If nothing else they would probably want to investigate the fruits that just sort of puffed or phased into reality. Actually, that was probably something Felix should be concerned about, too. It had been some time since he and his team had a proper meal, so it was a very likely possibility any conscious pokemon that might be out of their balls were tempted by any magically appearing fruits. It was probably for the best that Ooze was still unconscious. The muk would likely smother him in an attempt to get at all the berries. The thought caused Felix to shudder slightly. Yet again he was glad that his temporary companion happened to be blind, since explaining the reason for the brief discomfort would be fairly awkward for him.
Once the duo were out of the forest, it wasn't long before they reached the central hill where the giant wisteria tree was firmly rooted. It gave Felix a good excuse to drop the current path the conversation was winding down and turn matters towards less gloomy and more interesting topics. Like how many of the 'people' wandering around were actually people and not just generic figures that would stand in for people in most dreams. According to Jay, they at least 'sounded' solid, so they were probably real enough to interact with. "I mean, I guess they look real enough, but... Something seems 'off' with most of them," he tried to explain, but couldn't really put into words what seemed wrong to him. Nothing really stood out as 'not real' but there were enough things that didn't quite seem real enough that it bothered him. If Felix had to compare it to something, it was like some of those weird robot things some theme parks had as attractions. Sure, whoever designed them did a great job of making them look realistic, but there was something in the way they moved, some weird warble or static in the speakers used to project the sounds, or just the way the light hit whatever material was used for 'skin' that managed to ruin the intended effect and made it clear that the imitation was just that, a fake. A lot of these 'people' were the same way. They moved, sounded, and just overall looked fake to Felix in a way that was unsettling at best.
Thankfully, the trainer had a good excuse not to stick around down below with these weird dream-people for too long. Felix ended up getting volunteered to scope out the terrain, probably because seeing with sound meant Jay would have a tougher time scoping out particularly long distances. It was as good a reason as any to give himself some flight time with Talon. In spite of his earlier reaction to Jay's suggested method of waking Felix up, the trainer actually did enjoy flying. It was the landing that scared the crap out of him. If he had even been a foot over in any direction when he fell into that forest... The thought made Felix rub the back of his neck in discomfort as his skarmory made his agitation known. At least the bird's antics cheered the man up, and soon he was back to chuckling and ready to take off. Without a word, Felix just shot a grin to Jay in response to the man's comment before he was wisked up and away by the dark skarmory, the steel bird circling the towering wisteria as he strove to climb above it.
For a short while Felix took in the sights of the strange landscape as Talon flew slow loops around the giant tree's crown. It was actually quite strange to see how the terrain of one area sharply changed to something completely different. It seemed like the part of the forest Felix and Jay explored was fairly ordinary, but a different portion seemed to just have shadow soaking through it. There were no clouds above to block the sun over that area, and although the branches and leaves grew together densely some light should have still been able to pass through, but it seemed darkness just filled that part of the forest. It looked like there was some sort of building deep within the dark forest, but that just made Felix want to avoid it even more since it reminded him of how he originally ended up in this strange dream. It seemed there were also a couple of mountains, one looking like a regular - if somewhat craggy - mountain with a trail snaking around and up it while the other had more holes than a block of swiss cheese and was blanketed in snow. It looked like the frosty peaks only had one real trail, that being the one that led from the central grassy hill to one of the cave openings at the base of the mountain. The park looked sort of fun, if rather childish due to all the rides and what looked like stalls down below. Might be a nice place for a snack, though. The beach would probably be nice for relaxing, or maybe some fishing if Jay had a pole. Or maybe the two could dream some up? Who knew if that would work. The last path was strangest, suddenly cut off as it ran off the edge of a cliff. Maybe just somewhere to watch some bird pokemon fly?
Having seen enough, Felix gave Talon a pat on his shoulder to get the skarmory's attention. "Alright buddy, time to land," he told the steel bird, earning a squawk of acknowledgement as the pokemon carefully circled back down to the ground. Once they were close enough that he wouldn't get hurt for doing so, Felix didn't wait for the skarmory to finish touching down before hopping off. The trainer stumbled a bit, but was otherwise perfectly fine. "Seems there are some odd places around here," he commented as he straightened himself up. "There's the forest, obviously. Looked like there was some sort of building in the darker part of it." The discomfort was obvious enough in Felix's voice as he mentioned the run-down building he noticed, and if it weren't plain from that alone that he didn't want to dwell on it, him clearing his throat after probably made it clear that the topic was one he would rather not discuss. "There were also a couple of mountains. One seemed like the standard sort you'd find on hiking brochures: Lots of rocks, a trail to follow, and some trees and shrubs on either side of the path. The other was completely covered in snow and ice, but I'm pretty sure I saw some cave entrances," he described as best he could, not as off-put as he had been by the house in the forest. "There was also a beach, and some other place that looked like someone had dumped a fair of some sort into Johto's National Park." For a moment, Felix felt like he was forgetting something, but soon remembered it. "Ah, right. The last path... Uh... Runs straight off a cliff." The trainer couldn't help but let out a chuckle as it seemed Jay's earlier joke on what could happen might have been a bit more on-the-nose than either of them would have guessed.

It was a good thing that Felix didn't take offense to Jay's comments. He obviously hadn't meant them in an offensive way, but it was also just nice that the guy was easy going enough not to be too sensitive over that kind of thing. In fact, Felix seemed like a pretty cool guy in general. It made Jay consider asking for his contact information -- if only to see if he needed help after he woke up. That thought, though, lead to another, but after a pause, he decided to wait until a little later to ask. After all, they had enough going on with figuring out where they were going and everything. This could wait. Hopefully....
Jay smiled some in good humor at Felix's joke, and was just about to correct him that Rawly wasn't the sort to get distracted by food, when he actually got the joke that Felix was referring to the berries they had picked. He couldn't help a light chuckle of his own, his head bowing slightly. "S'pose if he is, that'd answer the question on how much this stuff is gettin' back ta everythin'. I imagine manifestin' berries are about the only food that could distract Rawly," he admitted, adding in the information just in case he had misunderstood the joke anyway. "That said, where I fell asleep was actually a place we went ta train, so it's possible they're all caught up with wild pok'mon 'r somethin'," he admitted nonchalantly. Some might be a little concerned falling asleep close to where wild pokemon were, but he was confident his pokemon could handle them. And if there were a problem, Rawly would reach out-- he trusted them.
Jay quirked a brow, eyes still closed as he turned his head to listen better to the open field. He clicked his tongue a few times, but frowned and straightened. "'Off'? Most've 'em seem 'off'?" he repeated, clearly confused, though perhaps not for quite the obvious reason, "Just how many are ya seein'?" This world had been a little fickle on what seemed real and what didn't for him; usually things manifested had a sketchy, half-there echo. Some of it reminded him of ghost pokemon, where it was more of a presence, than something that gave him the impression of being solid, others were a little more physical, but inconsistent, like thin fabric moving in the breeze. But that said, he wasn't sure if he was catching as much as Felix was-- there was a breeze over the field, and that always disrupted his impression some. But the echoes he did get... felt fairly solid. But not very numerous. Which made him wonder if perhaps he and Felix were getting two different pictures of what was before them.
Admittedly, Jay continued trying to listen towards his surroundings, clicking his tongue and slowly moving across the grassy field, not so much to wander too far away, but rather to see if he could get a better impression of things. Honestly, this world wasn't giving him much... He turned his head to where his pokemon were still wandering along behind him, smiling as, at least, they gave a solid presence as he listened. With both hands in his pockets, he tilted his head back and enjoyed the breeze, only withdrawing a hand when it came to keeping his hat in place. He tilted his head when he heard the faint sound of scraping metal, but smiled as something solid landed fairly close by. Pulling his hat off, Jay ran a hand through his hair and moved over towards where he assumed Felix was-- though he did click his tongue a few times to get a better echo off and somewhat confirm it was the man and his skarmory.
His brow furrowed slightly at what sounded like hurried steps, like someone stumbling or multiple steps. But he was sure he only heard one person-- presumably Felix. He lifted his head and relaxed some as the guy started reporting back what he heard, but unknowingly gave a sympathetic smile when he heard the man's uneasy tone as he reported back about the house. "Well, I ain't much fer backtrackin'," he reassured the other, insinuating he was perfectly fine leaving the forest behind them, and focusing on a different direction, even if there was unexplored terrain. Honestly, a house seemed like a good bet to find other people that might have an idea what was going on, but... he didn't feel rushed enough to urge Felix through his discomfort, and the guy definitely had a better picture of everything than he did.

He lapsed back into silence as he considered the rest of the options, then exhaled through his nose as he placed his hands back into his pockets. "I guess my vote'd be fer the beach or the park ya mentioned," he admitted, "Seem like our best bet in findin' people 'r somethin' that might help, while keepin' ourselves mostly outta trouble." Well, that was the hope anyway. Trouble did a good job of showing up just about anywhere in the pokemon world, it seemed. He could only assume the dream world was no different. "That said, if'n ya think one've them other options is a better choice, I ain't too picky," he added after a bit of consideration. Jay was easy going enough, he didn't feel like they had to rush one way or another in particular. It was his best guess at where they went, but if Felix saw something that lead him to be more inclined towards a different path... Jay didn't mind just walking and talking for now.

When Jay questioned about the dream people seemed 'off' to Felix, the trainer had a hard time figuring out how exactly to explain it in a way the ginger could understand. Mostly because a lot of it was weird sight cues, like skin tone looking a little too pink to be natural or their movement being too fluid or not enough. It seemed, though, that that was the wrong way for Felix to debate how to answer the other man's question, as the next made it clear it wasn't the people themselves that Jay was curious about but rather how many of them. "Oh. Uh..." From where he stood, Felix quickly and subtly waggled a pointer finger roughly at each person he could see as he tried to get a quick count. "I think around four dozen I can see from here? Give or take a few?" He frowned a bit. "Most of them are scattered about and some are kinda distant, so that might be throwing you off?" he suggested, guessing that while clicks and whistles might have been good enough for moving around, they probably had a limit for how far ahead Jay could look with his... hearing? Which was probably the main reason Felix was the one going up for an aeral view of the weird world they were in.
Once he and his skarmory were up in the air, it didn't take long for Felix to get a look around. Enough of one to give Jay a decent enough idea of what sort of options they had once he landed, anyway. Thankfully Jay seemed about as done with forests as Felix, and given their conversation earlier he wasn't keen on checking out the road to nowhere either, so that was three locations crossed off the list. That just left the two mountains, the park, and the beach, and of those Jay seemed to favor the last two. Felix couldn't help but chuckle at the other trainer's reasoning. "Yeah, I think I've had enough trouble for a while myself," he agreed, then thought a bit. "I guess of the two, I'm a bit more partial to the park. It's been ages since I last got to enjoy one." Felix couldn't stop a small smile from crossing his face as he rubbed the back of his neck with his left hand. "I can hardly remember the last time I went to the park in Johto..." He actually sounded a bit disappointed as he realized how long it had been since he was last back in his home region for anything other than work. Maybe after getting a badge or two in Kalos to keep Zelse and the others in line, he'd head back for a while? As he thought, he started walking along the path that led to the strange dream park.

Short post is short, but at least it gets us moving again. Most of who Felix is seeing are generic dream people that could be used for battle NPCs or interactions if we so wished. They exist for no other reason than to fill out the dream world. Figure there'll be plenty of those in the park too, so do with those what you will lol.

Colour Avikna surprised when she happened to find herself lofted on some soft grass, below the bough of a giant tree. She'd grown use to these sort of surreal dreams, ones where she felt as though she was physically there. Sitting up she could feel the weight of her body pulling her back down. She resisted and eventually lifted herself up into an upright position. From what she could see, a clear blue sky stretched ahead of her while above her the tree's branches danced in the gentle breeze. Her eyes narrowed however, when something caught her gaze. A drift the breeze it appeared as if sleeping Pokemon of all shapes and sizes floated by in their own personal bubble, never touching one another though often times growing close enough to seemingly push apart from one another. An odd sight, but.. this was a dream right?
It was then a familiar laugh pulled the red-head from her thoughts of floating Pokemon to the area ahead of her. "Tay?" This was the first time she'd seen Tay in one of her odd dreams. The girl in question was a good twenty or so feet away, giggling like a child. Upon looking harder, Avikna saw what she was giggling at. Freya had found her hidden ability to fly, rather the ability only granted in a dream. Pikachu couldn't fly no matter how special their coat was. Stepping forward Avikna approached Tay. The brunette turned to Avikna still chuckling. "L-l-ook at Freya, Avikna!" She managed through her chuckling. "She's flying!" The teen then exclaimed, as if Avikna couldn't see. The red-head nodded giving the teen a half-smile. Freya in the meantime found some assistance from Tethe. The Pikachu for the most part hadn't actually wished to fly, she wasn't even sure how she got into her predicament in the first place. Regardless she was happy to find solid ground once more. The Pikachu let out a sigh, thanking Tethe for his assistance. Much to Tay's displeasure though the teen didn't move to toss Freya back into the air, instead her attention was fully on Avikna. "Look over there Avikna! Doesn't that place look spoooky?" The teen voiced waving her hand towards a tall house in the distance. The sky overhead had a eerie look to it, far darker than the sky around it. As if someone placed a veil over the entire area. It certainly looked creepy. "Kind of." Avikna replied, entertaining the teen's observation. "Let's go over there!" Tay suggested, rushing forward to take Avikna's hand. "H-huh?" She barely had a chance to respond before the girl began to tug at her arm. Avikna gave in, letting her lead the way for some time before eventually wringing her hand free to follow at her own pace. To think this child was eager to go to someplace spooky... How odd. Was this the real Tay? Or was this perhaps a manifestation of what Avikna wanted Tay to be like?
As the two made their way towards the darkening sky, Avikna kept her gaze out on the would around them. Aside from the floating Pokemon back by the tree, there seemed to be a rather lack of life in this giant field. Tall grass aside, she couldn't see else. Perhaps there was some sort of... barrier? Could a barrier be placed in a dream? But then what was so special about Freya and Tethe? It was all so confusion. But mostly, Avikna just wanted to know why her dream had suddenly changed.... and so obruptly. For the past, what felt like months she'd been dreaming about a giant waterfall, floating islands and.... a giant Hydreigon. Her gaze found itself down to her hand... she was holding a Pokeball. The red-head's grip tightened on the ball. R.A.Y... The haunting image of the Hydeigon and that of R.A.Y danced in her mind... they were close in resemblance. It did occure to Avikna that she hadn't really spoken to R.A.Y much since the dragon's return to her. The look in Arquiem's eyes was a memory she would likely never forget. Such hate. Such anger. The vessel for all three head's unused darkness.
Her mind ever wandering she hadn't noticed Tay's repeated efforts to gain Avikna's attention. That was until the teen took a hold of Avikna's arm and tugged with all her might, throwing the teen off balance, thankfully only slightly. Catching herself before a fall, the red-head's eyes turned upward to meet Tay's golden gaze. "Avikna? Are you okay? We don't need to go if you're to scared." Tay tilted her head. As if by some otherworldly force the red-head looked down at her hand... her knuckles were slowly regaining their colour after being turned white from her tight grip on the ball. "Oh... uhh." Straightening up the red-head placed the ball in her bag. "I'm fine." She replied. "Like i'd be scared of some spoooky house." Cracking a half smile, Avikna nodded and stepped forward, leaving a confused Tay behind her before the the teen quickly started moving once more. She of course wanted to ask if Avikna was truely okay, but something kept her from saying anything. Whatever the case, they were quickly approaching the manor with the darkened sky. Tay was a great many things, and she still lacked much knowledge of the world... but she wasn't so naive as to not see that something was bothering Avikna. This wasn't the first time she'd seen that look on her face, though that was usually in the middle of the night when she woke up to use the restroom or get a drink of water... Avikna's features had softened during the time Tay had been with her, but that signature scowl almost always passed over Avikna's face when she slept. It made Tay worry, but asking the red-head of such things... Well, Tay knew enough that Avikna couldn't tell her anything. Still, one day she'd get strong enough to force Avikna to talk about it... maybe.

He doesn't remember falling asleep, but here he is waking up. Laying in grass? Last he remembered he was leaning against a tree. Su Yan sits up and feels around in the grass but there was no sign of the tree he had napped against. Happy jumps from his lap, trills a confused trill then wanders a few feet away to sniff, observe. There was a feeling about this place that felt different. Lighter, floater, surreal. It's almost disorientating. Su Yan finds his can and pokes around a bit to find only vast plains and soft soil. so unlike the packed paths of the town. "Quil?" Happy squeaks obviously just as confused at Su Yan was. He crouches down to let the pokemon back onto his shoulder. They weren't in New Bark anymore, that was for sure. Quickly, he reaches into the opposite pocket to the one had out the Pokedex in earlier and pulls out his pokegear.
"Load map." he speaks into it, then a chimes plays indicating it had done so. "Where am I right now?" theres a buzz, a chime, and a mechanical voice spitting out :ERROR! LOCATION UNDEFINED: . A few blinks. Location undefined? He had never heard that before... maybe the signal wasn't strong here. After all, it seemed he was in the middle of a field. So he keeps the device open in his hand and talks a few tentative steps in a random direction, relying on both his testing footsteps and cane to alert him of any terrain changes, but it seemed majority flat. Eventually, he can hear the faint sound of voices and ends up following them until they are strong enough to indicate that he's probably visible (bar some obstruction ahead he can't see, if there was one)

Which definitely begged the question of just how large this place was, and what else was out there… She was itching to get moving, but at the same time it would be rude to just take off without saying goodbye to Huey first. ”Thanks again for helpin’ Eir out back there, I really owe ya one for that, kiddo,” she said with a chuckle and a bright grin. While Zoey wasn’t often one to give favors, it was only fair to do something nice for someone who had done something nice for you. Of course she wasn’t entirely sure if she might end up meeting Huey again later down the line, but hey, she certainly wasn’t going to discount the possibility that it could very well happen. He was definitely a sweet kid, that much she knew in spite of having only just met him. She really wouldn’t hate the idea of getting to know him more sometime… Plus, judging by the Pokemon that she could see with him and how strong they looked, he was probably more than capable of taking care of himself.
”Hey Orph, did ya see any particular places that looked interestin’ while ye were out scoutin’ around?” she asked, turning her attention to the starry-haired Zoroark whom she noticed had made his way back to them.”Well, from what I have seen this place is certainly quite vast. But there were quite a few places of note,”he answered, humming thoughtfully as he tried to remember the general areas of the places he’d seen,”This place where we are right now seems to be a ‘hub’ of sorts where everything else connects to. I believe I saw a beach looking area off that way, and a large mountainous region over there…”Orpheus went on to list the different areas that he saw from his high perch in the tree, and Zoey listened intently and watched as he pointed and gestured in the general directions of where each part was. So aside from the beach and mountain, there was a park-like place, a frozen cave, a forest, a haunted house, and some kind of odd place where the path just literally ran off a cliff with nothing else below. Strange… but considering that this was a dream world of sorts, maybe taking a plunge off a cliff wasn’t as dangerous as it would otherwise be in real life. Not that it made Zoey any more excited to try and actually test that theory for herself. Other than the apparent dead end cliff, the haunted house was definitely a no go as well. She’d had more than enough dealing with haunted houses at the Spookival. And though she liked to think of herself as someone who wasn’t easy to scare, she was honestly still somewhat shaken by her Halloween festival experience.
”Well, haunted house is absolutely off limits, think I’ve dealt with that more n’ enough already,” she declared with a nod of affirmation.”Aww, are you sure, Fraulein? I am sure that even if it is a haunted house, you can make it as non-scary as you wish. This is a dream world, after all,”Orpheus simpered, a look of mock hurt crossing his face. Of course, he could certainly understand the reasoning behind her choice. As someone who had curated and ran haunted houses for years and years, the Zoroark was honestly somewhat tired of them himself and wanted a change of pace for once. That was also part of why he’d chosen to accompany Zoey on her journey through Alola, and while he did miss his friends back at the Spookival he didn’t regret his choice to retire one bit.
”Yeeeeaaah thanks, but no thanks. Dream world or not I’m gonna need a good long break before doin’ anythin’ like that again,” the woman said with a sigh, ”Although… That park place sounds pretty nice. I remember seein’ an amusement park area at the Spookival but didn’t get the chance to try it out before everythin’ closed up. Maybe this’ll be pretty close to somethin’ like it.” Really, there had been a lot at Spookival that she’d wanted to try but didn’t get around to it. She wasn’t going to let the opportunity pass her by this time, though! ”Well, we ain’t gonna get anywhere fast just standin’ around, let’s get to explorin’,” she affirmed with a nod, more than ready to get going to see more of what this strange dream world was really about.
Still, before they got going… ”Yer more than welcome to come with to the park if ya want,” she said, turning her attention back to the kid for a bit as she gave a nod and an amicable smile, ”Otherwise, guess I’ll hope to see ya ‘round again sometime, Huey~” Flashing him a two-fingered peace sign and a wave goodbye, the woman turned and headed onwards in the direction Orpheus had indicated where the park area was. Coltrane gave a curt nod in farewell before following after his trainer, and the Zoroark simply smiled and waved and followed suit with his rock wolf teammate. Eir lingered for a little longer, somewhat sad to have to say goodbye to her new friend so soon but eager to see what this park they were going to was like.”Bye bye, Huey, I really hope to see you again sometime! And thanks again for everything!”she yipped, wagging her tails happily and flashing him a bright smile. With that said, she turned and quickly followed after her trainer and teammates, not wanting to lose sight of them again.
Making their way around the tree, Zoey could make out the path that seemed to lead in the general direction of where Orpheus had indicated the park was a bit more clearly.”Hello?”a sudden call from somewhere close by caught her attention, and her head immediately snapped in the direction she’d heard it come from.”Seems like someone might need help,”Orpheus murmured, noting how the voice sounded somewhat scared. The woman pursed her lips a bit, not wasting a second as she pivoted around and headed towards where the call had come from.”Is someone there? Where are we?”upon getting closer, the source of the voice seemed to be a fairly young-looking man with long-ish black hair and dressed in what looked like Asian attire. Zoey saw immediately that he was carrying a cane, was he… blind, maybe? That seemed to be the only conclusion that made sense, he did ask if someone was there after all… Oof, she couldn’t even begin to imagine how that must feel, she wouldn’t blame him for feeling scared and uncertain in a strange place like this. That sounded like a pretty terrifying experience for someone who couldn’t see.
Regardless, it was clear he needed help, and it didn’t look like anyone else had stepped forth to do so yet. ”Hey, ya alright there, man?” she asked, carefully approaching the blind young man, ”Need some help?” She couldn’t say she had much as far as prior experience with helping the blind, but she certainly wasn’t going to just leave him floundering around trying to find his way in this strange dream world. ”We’re in some sorta dream world, that’s what I was told when I woke up here too. It’s a bit hard to really explain, n’ frankly I’m still learnin’ myself but I can try to help ya figure things out ‘round here,” she suggested in answer to his earlier inquiry, offering a smile and keeping her tone calm, warm, and friendly. She wondered if maybe he had some kind of guide Pokemon to help him navigate around, though surely if he did it would be out of its Pokeball and actually accompanying him right now.
”Name’s Nizhoni Larsson, by the way, but just Zoey is absolutely fine by me,” she offered, figuring that if she was going to be helping this guy (if he took her up on her offer, that is) they might as well start getting acquainted with each other. On instinct she moved to hold her hand out to him for a handshake, but paused as she thought a bit more on it and instead let it rest at her side. Now that she was closer to him, she could see quite clearly now that there were some pretty nasty looking scars around his eyes. Damn… that’s pretty rough, buddy… She wasn’t sure she’d even want to know what could’ve possibly caused those, but she held her tongue otherwise as she patiently waited for his response to her offer and an introduction in return. It definitely wasn’t her place to pry into other people’s personal baggage, much less that of someone she’d only just met seconds ago.】☆ ☆

In fact, someone was there! Huzzah! this wasn't as hopeless he would have thought, though, it was honestly still pretty hopeless for him. As Zoey gets closer to him Happy turns around on his shoulders to tilt his head at her, timid of the new comer.yet curious as well. A few sniffs in her direction before letting out another squeak to go back to hiding in his new trainer's thin hair. Su Yan, on the other hand, stood rigid again with the white cane grasped close to his chest as if worried it was going to cause an issue for the new person who had appeared, only to again lose the rigidity and let it hang from the wrist strap.
"Y-Yes yes I'm fine. Just lost. I got a Pokemon from Professor Elm, and I think I took a nap, and now I'm here... Is this... normal for trainers?" he was obviously rather new to the whole ordeal. A starter, fresh from the lab and apprehension about how the world of Pokemon even worked beyond the base idea of the creatures existing and being appealing in many ways. "Need some help?" teeth frit a bit, he really hated openly accepting help as it was a thing of pride, but at the same time, he was more than lost and in way above his head. So he pulls in a deep breath through his nose, a technique taught to him my a therapist he had been told to see after the trauma, and one he continued to use now and probably will for a long time. "Y-Yeah. Help would be nice. This place is disorientating." Su Yan pulls a hand through his hair, fixing the parts that had been annoyingly tickling at the side of his face. The woman goes on to explain the area they were in. A world of dreams. How odd, not something he had ever heard of, but it seemed a little too real to be a place entirely made of dreams. He could smell the grass and feel the wind, and even feel the dull ache in his legs from the long travel to New Bark.
How... interesting.
Su Yan he offers a slight bow in the direction of her voice. "Zoey? I'm Su Yan. aspiring coordinator and performer." he says, righting himself next. "This is Happy. We just met, but he seems like a fine Pokemon." a scratch to the cyndaquil's head, one it appreciates. This woman sounded hardened in a way, and he wouldn't be surprised if she had been a trainer for at least slightly longer then he had been (read, fifteen minutes), so pride aside accepting her help could be a little more then not getting lost and dying unceremoniously in this 'dream realm'. "I don't want to burden you though." he wasn't a burden, or he didn't want to be. Su Yan was on a journey to learn, to grow. To no longer let his fears and trauma and burden him and keep him in a depression, and he will give his best efforts to not slow others down as he did so. "So, if you don't mind, may I just accompany you to where ever you are heading? At least until we can find out how to leave."

☆ ☆【Zoey is cautious as she approaches the apparently blind young man, not raising her voice too much as she calls to him and asks if he’s alright. While she had, well, virtually no experience with helping out blind people in particular, she knew at least enough to understand that handling people who had some kind of disability or trauma required a certain degree of care and a gentle touch. It had taken her quite a while to get her adopted little sister Amalee to even start opening up to her, the girl had gone through a lot with her biological family and had been very hesitant to let in this new family she didn’t know anything about. So until she knew a bit more about this guy, she’d do the same with him as she’d done for her sister. Handle him with care and a gentle touch. She hadn’t even noticed the Cyndaquil sitting on the man’s shoulders until it suddenly turned around and looked at her. ”Hey there, lil’ guy~” she greeted lightly with a warm smile. Tempting as it was to reach out and pet the cute little thing, it was probably best not to. It seemed quite timid, and after sniffing a few times towards her it ducked down to hide in its trainer’s hair. The man, on the other hand, seemed to stiffen a little for a moment before relaxing.
The woman hummed as he answered her query, assuring her that he was fine and that he was just lost was all. He mentioned getting a Pokemon from Professor Elm before he had taken a nap and had ended up here, which meant that he was obviously in Johto as of right now. ”Ah, just gettin’ started on yer Pokemon journey then, I take it?” she suggested, shaking her head as he asked if this was normal for trainers, ”Nope, as far as I know this is apparently just some sorta weird phenomena that a lotta people have gotten caught up in for some reason. Believe me when I say ya probably ain’t the only one confused here.” To be fair, she still had no idea how she had ended up here to begin with, all she knew was that she’d gone to bed for the night as per usual and then BAM! Still… so far she hadn’t come across anything in this strange dream world that would indicate danger or anything, but perhaps it’d be best to not let her guard down just in case.
When she then asked if he needed help, the man seemed to tense up momentarily as if she had just slapped him in the face. It was understandable, though… maybe he was the kind who didn’t usually like accepting help from others? Regardless, he took a deep breath and said that help would be nice, stating that this place was pretty disorienting. ”Yeah, no kidding,” she thought, going on to explain to him what she had been told about this place being a dream world. The man doesn’t say anything in response, though judging from the look on his face he was still trying to make sense of the information as it was relayed to him. Of course, the idea of it being a dream world definitely seemed unbelievable given how oddly real this place felt, from the cool, feathery touch of the grass on their feet to the warmth of the sun’s rays shining down on them from above.
That being said, Zoey was happy to move on to introductions, feeling it would be best that they start getting familiar with each other since they’d probably be sharing each other’s company for a while. She smiles and nods as he introduces himself as Su Yan, apparently an aspiring coordinator and performer. Huh… now where had she heard something like that before? ”Su Yan, eh? Ain’t that like the name of a character from one o’ those ol’ school fightin’ games? Like that one… uh… what’s it called…? Road Warrior?” she suggested, her voice carrying a lightly playful tone as she chuckled, ”Heh, just kiddin’~ It’s real nice to meet ya, Su Yan. Mind if I call ya Su?” Her eyes then flickered over to the Cyndaquil as Su Yan went on to introduce him as Happy, nodding amiably towards the little fire mouse as the man scratched his head. ”Nice to meet ya too, Happy, I’m sure he’ll grow to be a mighty fine partner for ya on yer journey,” she assured with a warm smile.
She pursed her lips a bit as Su Yan said he didn’t want to burden her, but he wanted to come along with her to wherever it was she was heading if she didn’t mind until they can figure out how to get out of this place. ”Hey, yer fine, man. I really don’t mind havin’ some company, so don’t ya worry ‘bout anythin’ at all,” she assured with a confident nod, casually dismissing his worries, ”Havin’ someone else to talk to would just be a nice lil’ bonus. I was actually on my way to some place that looked like a park of some kind, so if ya don’t mind taggin’ along that’s where we’re headin’ from here.”
She tilted her head slightly for a moment, seemingly curious about something as she looked him over briefly. ”I, uh, don’t suppose ya got some kinda guide Pokemon with ya?” she asked, wondering if maybe he had one but it was in its Pokeball or something, ”’Cause if not, I’m sure one of my partners wouldn’t mind givin’ ya a hand in the meantime just in case.” Surely his caretakers or whoever was in charge for providing services for him had at least given him one, right? It would be… maybe more than a bit concerning if they didn’t, even though he probably didn’t need one as far as she knew. She’d offer to possibly help guide him herself, but at the same time she wasn’t sure how comfortable he’d be with being touched by someone who he only just got acquainted with. It would take a bit of time to really learn where Su Yan's boundaries were, but Zoey was more than willing to accommodate him however so that he could be at least somewhat more comfortable with getting around in this dream world place.】☆ ☆

Happy was perhaps a bit more afraid of the large and intimidating pokemon behind Zoey then Zoey herself, or, he was intimidated by all of them, it was hard to tell. He was new to Su Yan too but he at least had reason to trust the man more than this mysterious woman, so hiding he will remain. At least until this woman proved herself not to be a threat.
"Yeah... just starting." it felt a bit awkward to admit, admit to being a beginner, out of his league, over his head, hopeless- oh he was letting his mind run off again. It took a while to work up the courage to walk into that lab and start working toward his goal. He can't let his negative mindset turn him back now, despite the long road and hard journey he had ahead of him. "So, I guess all of this is a bit foreign to me. Not just this whole... dream world phenomena." there's a wave of his hand on the air as if he had been searching for the words. Even after the loss of his sight, he was still in the habit of theatrics as he spoke it was simply in his nature. A natural-born performer! though, he did understand the horrific scarring on his face would make him hard to sell as one. . There he goes again. Focus. Focus on the task at hand, that was interesting and time-consuming enough! But she goes off on some tangent about a video game? Was Su yan a character from one? He wouldn't know, he wasn't much one for playing games as a child and well... he couldn't do so now.
"Ah- I don't think it's from-" but he's cut off with her proclaiming to be kidding. And now he feels like a fool, withdrawing a bit to rub at the back of his neck sheepishly. He's embarrassed enough to not say anything to her question of calling him Su, which he normally would have rejected, calling him by only part of his first name was a luxury usually reserved for those very close. Like his mother, or one of the kimono girls. But he fails to correct her, so he supposes he is now resigned to being called Su by her. A strange form of closeness but one that in the end there were worse things to be called for sure (and he had been called those things). "Ah-... yeah I suppose that is fine" his voice is quiet as he reluctantly agrees, though Happy does seem willing to give her a "quil!", even if his back if still turned to her.
Su Yan simply nods along as she explains her plans. A park sounded nice, and a good place to ease into everything. Not too much rough terrain, and, hopefully, the Pokemon that lived there were more docile? The last thing Su Yan wanted was to stumble onto a territorial wild pokemon that would finish off what that Charizard started! Her explanation ends with a question and it's at this point he realizes he should still have Drunken Fist with him here, at least he hopes so. "Yeah- I should" he holds up a hand before feeling his pockets until he finds one of two poke balls. He still has no way of telling the two apart (the one with the meleeon and the empty one belonging to Happy) so he awkwardly brings one up to his ear and tilts his head into it. It makes some sort of mechanical hum that seems to indicate it is currently holding a pokemon. So the middle button is pressed and out pops the spunky Eevee evolution. "Meleeon!" he cries in sort of a triumph. It was a pretty normal Meleeon, though he was outfitted with a special harness. One that could be easily removed and replaced if the pokemon needed to battle (which he sometimes did, to protect Su Yan from the scary wild rattatta that chattered their teeth at him in the night!)
"Drunken Fist. He doesn't like train rides so he was resting in his ball." he explains, "I'm glad he was brought here too. He's been with me since right after-" he cuts himself off there. It's not an event he wants to talk about in-depth at the moment. "Gift from the Kimono Girls in Johto. I aim to perform with them one day, after all." Drunken first rubs against Su Yan's legs and the man reaches down to give his more wiry fur a run through with his fingers, before taking hold of the lead as he was used too. It was best, he could get by in Johto, areas he knew well with just cane, but this wasn't Johto. "I'll be fine with him." he didn't quite trust the other trainer's pokemon anyway. Drunken Fist he knew, was trained with his disability in mind, and well was a familiar pokemon that he was sure wasn't going to fly off the handle at the first pigey it saw and beat him into the dust. He just didn't know how to politely say 'I don't trust your pokemon' .
"W-Well enough of that. I'll accompany you to the park. Maybe I can learn a thing or two." he gives her a small bow and gestures with his hand in an 'after you gesture' but it's for sure not in the direction of this park.

☆ ☆【Zoey hummed and nodded as Su Yan admitted that he was just starting out. Of course, she’d figured as much since he had just said that he’d gotten a starter from Professor Elm before ending up here. So it was probably safe to assume that he had no badges as well… Still, she had to wonder how much he actually knew as a trainer, which was… likely not much given that he had only just gotten his starter Pokemon. She listened intently as he went on to say that all of this was a little foreign to him, and not just this whole deal with the strange dream world they had ended up in. ”I see,” she spoke with a nod of understanding, offering a small smile, ”Well, I’m far from the best trainer or teacher, but I can definitely show ya some of the ropes n’ teach ya a bit of what ye’ll need for yer journey. If ya don’t mind, of course!” So, apart from helping this guy find his way around she was also going to be possibly mentoring him? Well, she wasn’t entirely sure about the whole ‘being a mentor’ deal, but she’d certainly try her best if he took her up on her offer. It was probably best that he learn at least some of the fundamental basics of being a trainer sooner rather than later, right?
As Su Yan introduces himself, Zoey can’t help herself from making a little joke about his name sounding like a character from a fighting game. The man seemed quite confused by her playful little remark, about to correct her that he didn’t think that was what his name was from until she cut in and said that she was only joking. Ah, was he perhaps one of those people who weren’t much for jokes then? Given his sheepish reaction, it would certainly seem so. He agrees, if reluctantly, to her inquiry of calling him just Su. Maybe she should’ve asked again to double check if he had any reservations about being called that particular nickname, but she supposed that if he didn’t mind too much then it was probably fine, right? She looked over towards Happy as he gave his two cents, while she couldn’t exactly understand him it sounded like he was in agreement as well. Or so she hoped, at least.
With introductions more or less taken care of now, Zoey explains where they had been heading before they had run into Su Yan. The man seemed pleased at the prospect of going to a park, it would probably be much easier for him to find his way around as opposed to the mountain or forest where there would be a lot more obstacles to account for. However, before they got moving, the woman couldn’t help but inquire if Su Yan had a guide Pokemon of some kind with him. At least so that it would make it easier for him to get around without fear of possibly getting lost. She would’ve offered one of her own Pokemon to help him out in case he didn’t have one with him, for some reason. However, Su Yan seemed to have it taken care of as he said he should have his guide Pokemon with him, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a Pokeball. Zoey blinks as she watches him hold it up to his ear as if listening for something, then again with him being blind it was probably hard for him to tell one Pokeball from another… That could be somewhat of an issue if he gets into battles and ends up sending out the wrong Pokemon, though hopefully that problem won’t come up quite as often in the future.
Upon determining that the Pokeball he was holding was indeed the one he was looking for, Su Yan released his other Pokemon, a Meleeon that was outfitted with a special kind of harness that was clearly used for guide Pokemon. Zoey nods as he introduces the Meleeon as Drunken Fist, mentioning that he was resting in his ball because he wasn’t a fan of train rides and that he was glad the Eeveelution had been brought here with him. He goes on to explain a bit more, but cuts himself off momentarily before shifting gears and mentioning Drunken Fist being a gift from the Kimono Girls. Curious as that was, Zoey doesn’t press any further, figuring that whatever it was Su Yan didn’t really want to talk about. Which was understandable, again it was far from her place to stick her head into other people’s personal business. If Su Yan wanted to share more of that kind of stuff with her later when they were better acquainted, she’d gladly let him do so on his own terms, even if he might not ever want to share it at all. ”Kimono Girls, huh? I’ve never seen ‘em in person myself, haven’t really gotten ‘round to goin’ to Johto yet,” she admitted with a soft laugh, ”I’ve heard they’re amazin’ performers though, maybe I’ll be able to catch a show if I ever find myself in Ecruteak someday~” Her eyes drifted back down to Su’s Meleeon, noting how much different it looked to her own. It was clearly a male judging by the shape of the ears and the bulkier build, but Drunken Fist’s fur was a dark blue with a beige underside and white bandages as opposed to the black, white, and red color scheme that Ingrid had. ”Heh, I don’t think I’ve ever met someone else who had a Meleeon too until now,” she commented thoughtfully, wondering if this was meant to be what it normally looked like. It was completely possible that Ingrid was actually a shiny variant of the species, perhaps she ought to do a bit more research…
Zoey nodded in understanding as Su said he’d be fine with Drunken Fist, which was understandable given that the Meleeon was definitely trained to be able to handle people with his kind of disability. ”Sure, that’s absolutely fine by me. I kinda figured ya’d be more comfortable with him anyways,” she said, humming her agreement as Su Yan suggested they head to the park. She gave a small smile as the man gestured in what she assumed was meant to be the direction of the area they were heading but was way off the mark. ”Yeah, let’s get goin’ then, we can keep talkin’ while we walk around,” the woman remarked, already moving towards where the park was, ”Right this way!” Her Pokemon moved to follow along, Coltrane moving to flank Zoey’s right side, Eir taking up the left, and Orpheus maintaining a leisurely pace as he stayed a bit behind her. They kept a relatively even pace alongside Su Yan so he and his Pokemon could keep up with them, and so their trainers could continue talking with each other while they headed for the park.
”Ah right, suppose I should introduce ya to my partners too. Or, a few of ‘em, at least,” she speaks up with a sheepish chuckle, feeling a bit silly that she’d neglected to do so earlier. ”This handsome wolf here to my right is Coltrane. Not sure if yer familiar with Pokemon from Alola, but he’s a Lycanroc,” she explained, reaching down to run a hand through the rock wolf’s thick white mane, ”They’re kinda an odd Pokemon in that they’ve got different forms dependin’ on the time o’ day they evolved at. Coltrane here is a Dusk form Lycanroc, they’re a lot rarer than the more common Midday and Midnight forms.” Coltrane in turn gave a short huff and a small bark in greeting, not sounding the least bit aggressive but not exactly friendly either. True to his careful nature the Lycanroc was still unsure of what to make of this strange man in their company, but he’d remain overall ambivalent to his presence until Su Yan either proved to be trustworthy or a threat. ”He tends to be a bit aloof ‘round strangers, but I’m sure he’ll warm up to ya real quick if ya treat him nicely,” she assured with a soft laugh, looking towards her other Pokemon and beckoning for them to introduce themselves.
”Hi hi! My name’s Eir! I’m a Ninetales hailing from Alola too,”the nine-tailed ice fox cheerfully piped up next, giving a chirpy little yip as she wagged her tails happily,”I really hope we can get along, can never go wrong with having more friends!”The Zoroark, being the last one, chuckled at his teammates’s eagerness and optimism, dipping his head towards their new companions in greeting.”And I am Orpheus, Zoroark and former haunted house curator,”he spoke in a smooth, polite tone, a bright grin crossing his muzzle,”A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Herr Su Yan~”
Now that that was more or less taken care of, Zoey focused her attention back on Su Yan as they made their way past the enormous tree and down the path which seemed to be much more like an actual paved walkway compared to the others. It definitely seemed like the entrance to a park, which likely meant that they were on the right path at least. ”Y’know, kinda funny ya mentioned bein’ an aspirin’ coordinator, Su Yan. I actually met someone some time ago who had said more or less the same thing,” she said, making a bit of small talk as they walked along the path, ”Ya came in from Johto, yeah? Where are ya thinkin’ of gettin’ yer start at as a coordinator?” If he was planning to become a coordinator, then it was pretty obvious he wasn’t going to be sticking around in Johto. He’d most likely be headed off for Hoenn or Sinnoh, contests were definitely a more major thing in those regions than anywhere else. Speaking of, maybe she should shoot Mitsu a message sometime soon to see what he’s been up recently. He had mentioned that he’d be around in Alola, though she had yet to see him around at all since Spookival…】☆ ☆

He's glad she doesn't push the help of her pokemon. Some people were a little too willing to help. He wasn't sure if that was out of pity or some compensation for.. something or another. He tried not to think too much about the reasons people had for things, as the conclusions he would come too would almost always depress him somehow. She calls out a direction and Drunken Fist starts following her along with Su Yan. The introductions finally come to her pokemon. He had never met alolan pokemon before, he hadn't ever left the Johto region before. A large dog huh? The sound it makes is interrupted by Su Yan as far more aggressive then it probably is. Just that fear and bias to battle pokemon getting in the way again. All he could visualize was a pokemon ready to jump and use those teeth... though he can't dwell on that for too long.
As a different voice speaks he nearly jumps out of his skin. Was that-...
"You-You can talk? I've never heard a pokemon speak like that... outside of my mother's Murkrow." he had to stop walking as he tried his hardest to wrap his head around something else new and strange. A dream world. Talking pokemon. What was next? All he wanted to do was take his train to Sinnoh and become a coordinator, was that too much to ask? Probably. this world was a strange and cruel one, after all. So with a defeated sigh, he accepts the fact that pokemon just can talk now. That's the norm and starts walking again. "Eir-" a pronunciation he probably butchers. "It's nice to meet you you sound like such a lovely eh... ninetales." at least he accepted it so when another different voice calls out to him he's somewhat ready for it. "Haunted house curator? So you must be a performer then" he offers, trying to find some form of common ground with these pokemon. The situation was just all-around strange, though this was some dream world. Maybe that is why this was happening.
However, both Happy and Drunken Fist had nothing to say.
He's pulled out of his thoughts by a question. "Oh! I plan to start in Sinnoh to get my bearings, then move on to try out Kalos' new contest system," he answers rather cooly like it was almost a rehearsed response. "It'll be a long process to learn, but I want to do it despite everything I have going on. If I can do that, I surely can do what I have had my heart set on since I was young... at least I hope so." a rare optimistic thought. Su Yan still thought himself a refined man of the arts after all. "though, it would be nice to see Johto implement a contest system as well." he shrugs his shoulders a bit as the path they are on transitions a bit, and they enter the park.
"But I should focus on learning the basics right now. So I won't mind shadowing you." even though her pokemon were a bit scary, she seemed nice enough, and well, Su Yan wasn't going to learn the ropes on his own. That's for sure.

Jay quietly took in the information in on how many Felix was saying, and bowed his head some in thought. He didn't respond, he just looked like he was considering it, brow stitched as his hat shadowed his face some. He let the guy go off to check out the area from a more aerial view, while he personally considered a few things about their situation. Honestly, he still didn't really get how this world worked. There were clearly some physical aspects, but not... all of it, and he wasn't sure just how physical those were. After all, if he understood correctly, he was still asleep in the "real world". Which meant he wasn't actually here, physically. And yet, he could catch pokemon... Though to be fair, he didn't have any confirmation that that was really working, either, or that it had any real world consequences.
He took a few minutes to think about this, before trying to reach out. '... Rawly? You hearin' me at all?' he tried. He'd spoken allowed before, or at least, he thought he did, but since this might all be in his head... or at least, his mind was what was transported to this world, maybe trying to think to the psychic would catch his attention more. Or maybe considering that fact, speaking and thinking were essentially the same, in Ralward's experience.
Sighing when he received no response, Jay lifted his head up, and tuned in when Felix landed, got himself settled, and came over to report what he'd found. After a short discussion, it seemed the park was the best choice, which had Jay smiling a bit. Not that the mountains would have been awful, but he didn't really want to go tripping up rocks or falling off ledges. And while the beach wasn't guaranteed safe -- it really depended on what pokemon there were -- a park seemed like it would hopefully be a bit more sequestered from the wilderness and maybe even have some other, more informed, trainers that they could chat up.
The smile on the ginger's face twitched up a bit more at one corner when Felix commented on having not been to a park in a while. He even mentioned Johto.... was that were he was from? Trying to think it over, Jay couldn't recall if he'd ever been to Johto. Probably, or well, definitely, when he was traveling with his family, but they hadn't spent a whole lot of time there. What time they did spend was very specifically in a few remote locations, mostly handling mareep, miltank, and the like. It was nice, but he'd also been pretty young at the time, so... not something he remembered clearly. And as for his pokemon journey, some of the traveling just blurred together. He knew he'd been to some of the other regions, but he couldn't recall if he'd been to Kanto or Johto much. And he'd only briefly been in Hoenn some, if he recalled.
"Did you grow up in Johto? I ain't familiar with their parks," he queried. He knew Felix was in a haunted house somewhere, but come to think of it, they hadn't talked much about their own backgrounds. Not that Jay was particularly nosy enough to pry; it was just a good opening for continued conversation.
While they walked, he kept his head tilted slightly, and stepped slowly and carefully, clicking his tongue occasionally so that he could try and avoid tripping. It was hard, on uneven ground, but at least it leveled off as they seemed to find a path, presumably heading towards this playground area. It wasn't something he could participate in much, but his pokemon would probably enjoy it, given how much energy some of them had.

Just as the snake assessed her, she kept an eye on him before giving a soft huff through the thin slits in her chitin that functioned as a nose. It was odd. Most scolipede were far more aggressive in nature, but Jasmine was strangely...subdued. Though, for her part, she was no less menacing. Not that Alex seemed to take the cues from her bright coloring and massive stature as he happily admired her features. "Pretty, ain't she?" Azalea commented with a pat to the scolopede's carapace. "I wouldn't touch her if you didn't know what you were doing though. Her barbs smart like a bi—"
Azalea was—thankfully—interrupted as her previous question about dreams implicated to Alex that she had, in fact, never dreamed before. At least, not that she could recall. "Nope." She confirmed. "I dunno. Dreaming isn't really my area of expertise. But it stands to reason that some people don't dream, just like some people can't cross their eyes or roll their tongue. It's not necessary to dream per se. Like a vestigial organ or something." She shrugged. "Besides, if this is what dreaming is like, it seems pretty boring to me. I could live without it."
Alex appeared to think differently, as he vaguely described what Azalea could only assume to be his personal experiences with dreams, which seemed to include junk food, cool stuff™, or... Julian? Was that the name changing butler guy? Pffft. "Okay. I take it back. Dreams about junk food sound pretty dope. I could dig that." She nodded sagely. "But why would Fabio be in your dreams? That sounds like some messed up psychological problem pal." She waved her finger in circles by her temple with a deadpan expression to emphasize how concerned she was. Which is to say, not really, but hey, she was trying.
She thought about his comparison to dreams being like watching a movie, which was apparently an indication that this probably wasn't a dream. "Hmm... You're probably right. You're the dream expert between the two of us after all. But then that begs the question... How'd we get here? And where the heck even is 'here'?" She pondered.
Well, there was no use sitting here and thinking about it. The only way to answer those questions was to go out and explore their surroundings. Alex pointed out a beach in the distance as a place they could start, but Azalea stopped him. "Hey, hold on a sec. I wanna try something." She reached over, and then pinched his side. Hard. When he didn't disappear, she shook her head. She had heard pinching helped wake you up from a dream, or something like that. "Man... I thought for sure that would work. Guess we really aren't asleep. Alright, let's go check out your dumb mountains." She agreed. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad. Alex always made things pretty amusing.
