It wasn't a lie to say Pauk liked the snow. He liked the feel of the cold and the sound of it under his feet; the crunch was rather pleasing and the footprints left behind were interesting to look at. When the snow coated his wings and his tail (despite the tail's protests) he considered it a fun second blanket, a playful welcome sheet of white against his otherwise dark hide. It just so happened on this particular evening, as he rested along the side of a trail, that a faint snow was falling and covering everything in his beloved soft white. A faint grumble from behind the dragoulie let him know his tail wasn't having it, but Pauk simply snickered at the complaints. It was nice and quiet, and it wasn't as though the pair were actually cold. Plus it didn't seem like anyone was around, not at the moment. The Ghoulie threw himself down a snowbank, a gleeful laugh breaking through the serene landscape as his body rolled down a small hill. Leaving his dark coat blanketed in snow once he reached the bottom, his wide grin hardly faltering even as his body puffed up and the chill left his tail shivering. Scrunching up his nose, Armaros was quick to ignore his tail's minor discomfort as he rolled over and kicked his legs in the open air, his eyes shining as the snow that coated him fell off around him like his own personal blizzard.
It was perfect. He'd decided as he righted himself and laid in the snow for just a moment, only taking his eyes off the falling snow to glance back at his large furred companion. Even through all the shivering the tail's twisted grin was ever-present. It agreed, he just knew it. So content with that assessment, the Ghoulie surveyed his surroundings catching sight of the pawprints embedded in the snow nearby. How curious, another soul out. Yet as he perked his ears up to listen for another's play, he felt a brief sense of disappointment. Didn't they know what the snow meant? Either way he was up in a second quite set on following the prints to their owner.
Something that didn't take that long and crouching low to the ground. Amaros followed the first thought that came to mind, his grin growing with his anticipation as his paws slowly gathered up some snow that proved perfect for packing before he sent it sailing to the winged creature. Hardly able to wait for the snowball to hit his target before he fell victim into his barely held laughter.

"Look." The tail, which had been rather silent apart from its grumblings about being cold and wet, finally offered a single word to its master in warning. A warning that was, naturally, a bit too late to do any good and the dragoulie found himself getting a face full of snow in the form of...a snowball. It didn't hurt despite the sting of the cold and the sudden impact, a fact for which whomever threw it should find themselves being grateful over. Pauk was mild-mannered, by most accounts, though he hardly liked being surprised. "You is okay?"There was a little inner laughter over the concern of his tail, but indeed he was fine and sent some reassuring words just to make sure. Softly and slowly he got to his feet, his size large and made looming as he spread his wings to shake off the white blanket of winter. He didn't need to look to see where the snowball had come from, as the cackling laughter of the culprit all but lead him right over. Soundlessly he plod over, all the while trying to figure out just what to say to someone who would have no problems attacking a stranger. "Having fun?" His voice was soft in the growing evening, almost as quiet as the world when snow was falling. "You have quite good aim."It may have been a compliment but it certainly didn't sound like it. The gleeful laughter quieted a tad when the hybrid rose, his size much larger than Armaros has initially imagined but the faint pang of worry wasn't enough to fully stifle his good time. After all the look on his face was too good to pass up! Something his grinning tail had to agree with. It seemed there was nothing quite like catching someone completely off-guard. So with a wide grin that squinted his bottom eyes, the Ghoulie quieted as the other spoke. "Fun? Hmm.." Shifting his weight onto his right paw, Armaros tilted his head as if this was something he really had to think over. Though he couldn't keep this up long as a chuckle bubbled out of him.
"Of course! Snow is supposed to be thrown. Did you not know?" To accentuate his point, he pawed at the ground creating another loose ball of snow only glancing down to bask in how easily the snow tonight packed together before his shining gaze returned to the other. Ignoring the seemingly in genuine comment. "Do you see? How easily it is? Besides, you were sitting so still you might have fallen asleep and I'm sure you know what happens to horses who sleep in falling snow." His chest puffed out briefly as he spoke as if he had done the other a favor as he pressed down on the ball he'd created, returning it to the rest of it's friends. Trotting the very small distance that remained between them, Armaros didn't wait for the hybrid to acknowledge anything he'd said before he began partially circling the other, his cold nose rising to press into the membrane of his wing as his eyes glanced briefly to the tail. "How odd, do you know you have wings?"

"Not fun." The tail spoke again with a broken hiss, moving just a little bit to get a better view of whomever was speaking. "Cold. Don't like." It wasn't as though the tail had gotten hit with the snowball but by the way it was carrying on, one might think it had. It was mumbling to itself as snow was balled up, whispering weak threats as though a simple tail could actually do something about it. "We don't mind snow as it is." Pauk spoke and shook himself again lest the snow build up and his tail whine even more. He liked the silence and didn't quite appreciate the crying noises he couldn't stop. "And I would have been - " There was a pause, and the dragoulie turned to watch this stranger and their antics. "What are you doing?" Something about his wings? "Of course I am aware I have wings. I was born with them." In response to the touch of a very cold nose the wings snapped themselves open and shut, sending a wave of air that nearly cleared the snow from around the duo. This was...partly why Pauk didn't enjoy going out. Too many questions, not enough answers to give when all he did was repeat himself over and over. "Are they really that strange to look at?" He glanced over at the wings, now fully open and spread. The seemed to sparkle in the light, his markings themselves almost glowing. The question had been spoken with a voice that held a bit of fear, like the dragoulie could just vanish at any moment.

Armaros was thoroughly startled when his touch sent the wings in motion. Stumbling back a step onto his rump, he squinted his eyes as the sudden wind that struck his face sent his long hair flying briefly and his little nose scrunching up ever so slightly. Did he hurt him? The thought seemed to occur to both him and his tail at nearly the same time and when the sudden gust left as quickly as it'd come, the Ghoulie opened his eyes and stared up at the wide wings. "Ooh." He breathed out, his tail curling around his side as it grumbled a broken phrase of concern under his breath. Something Armaros understood as a whether it was alright, and something he wasn't sure he could answer his constant companion.
"Strange?" He echoed back though more of a question before he quickly shook his head and got back to his paws leaving his tail settled in the snow. "No, no. Not at all. They're just.. just surprising? I mean I've never seen another Ghoulie able to fly." Clearing his throat lightly, he found his gaze drifting off to look at them but would quickly pull it back to the other's face. It was just so curious! He wanted to poke them again but held back in case he really had hurt them. "Or horns for that matter. How interesting!" He announced as he shook his body, puffing his fur up to guard himself from the cold just as his tail spoke up a small broken, incoherent phrase that ended with a curious, '..pretty?' Something he quickly answered, "of course, shush."

Maybe, just maybe, for a moment a streak of color dashed across Pauk's nose that would indicate a blush. He'd never really gotten compliments on his wings which...wasn't surprising since he often went out of his way to be alone. That was why he traveled at night (apart from the light hurting his eyes), to avoid groups or crowds. It was also in his nature to like being alone, or at least in very small company of those he knew. He kept his wings open to be inspected since there didn't seem to be any malicious harm in this Ghoulie's attempts, though his tail did mumble something or another before he swung it to silence the creature. "I am not a Ghoulie." That was the answer to the statement, as if this stranger had asked a question. "Or rather, I am....partly. My mother." A flicker of one of his four eyes indicated he was looking to memory, thinking of a darkened being who lived only in the past now. No further explanation for the wings was given, just that he wasn't entirely a Ghoulie as this...well, entire Ghoulie was suggesting. Who even was this pony? "What exactly do you want from me?"No one ever approached him unless they wanted something, so why should he expect this moment to be any different?

Not a Ghoulie? How odd! The sheer notion set his tail sniffing at the air as if to confirm that this could even be possible before another low jumbled sentence left the large tail, something Armaros could only shrug at. After all, the pair had only ever met full blooded beasts before. Most of them being Ghoulies and it had never occurred to him that you could be more. The idea that it was even a possibility was a thought he would have kept circling if the hybrid hadn't suddenly turned the questions around on him. "Huh?" Blinking out of the cycle his mind had been caught in, Armaros sent a curious and almost confused look his way. "Uh. I guess I was just looking for a little fun. After all, not many come out this late at night, even less when it's snowing." He huffed softly after his words, a light pout crossing his lips briefly before he quickly pushed himself out of it. The lack of others enjoying the snowy weather was always something that baffled him.
"Do I need to want something?" He tilted his head from left to right, his face devoid of it's bright smile as a slightly more serious tone settled on him. "Hmm.. Lets see.." Tapping his toes, his body froze for a second when an idea dawned on him and he quickly trotted around the back of the hybrid, pausing only briefly to check if his wing matched the other before coming to stop in front of him. "I know, how about your name? I'd like to know that."

Pauk's only tail let out a growl of warning towards the stranger and his tail, clearly not pleased by how this was going. The dragoulie was a calm and quiet sort, used to keeping to himself and avoiding being overwhelmed, so the peppering of questions wasn't exactly welcome. It helped (?) a little that the dragoulie was much larger than this newcomer, the same could be said of his tail; even its growls were louder and deeper. The growls continued as the stranger kept speaking, though Pauk did manage to whisper towards it to calm down. There was no harm here, maybe.
"Most everyone wants something, that's how things are." The hybrid kept his voice soft as the other continued to circle, like he was some sort of strange prize to be viewed. "And...shouldn't you give your name first? You're the one who interacted first and then....well, did whatever it is you're doing." The dragoulie felt there was a strong power in giving someone your name, like you were surrendering a piece of yourself over. That was why he seldom told anyone, instead allowing them to call him whatever they wished. That wasn't always a good thing.

"Huh.." Armaros seemed a bit taken back when his small request was turned back around onto him. A sentiment his tail shared when it tipped it's large head to the right and then the left before with a brief huff it twisted around his legs causing the Ghoulie to stop his circling as the tail rested it's large chin on the ground. "First you ask me what I want when all along it is you who wanted something from me. You are very surprising, my friend." His smile grew and a deep chuckle broke through, he had never had someone who was so interested in him of all people. It felt sort of.. flattering.
So sitting back on his haunches in front of the large hybrid, the Ghoulie offered him a bright, toothy smile. The kind of smile that wrinkled his nose every so slightly. "The name is Armaros, though I've heard that is too long, and not quite common around here. So you can call me Aros if you'd prefer? Or Arma.. though that isn't quite as nice." His smile faltered just slightly as his tail grumbled a series of misplaced words that showed it's disagreement, no no this wouldn't do. "Ah, yes please forget the Arma, tail doesn't like it." The simple statement was a lie and it brought a rumbling growl from his tail that caused Armaros to quickly place his paw on it's muzzle to try and shut it up. They already had one grumpy tail, and he didn't quite want to hold the same reputation. "Now that I've answered your question, what is your name?" houllow Oh no! The quote broke and I completely missed this. XD Sorry for the late reply

"I will use your name." Pauk didn't like nicknames, as he never saw the use in them. Why bother naming your child something only to never call them by it? It seemed like such a waste of a name, especially since this pony's name was so short and simple to begin with. If it had been something long and complicated he could have understood the want of shortening it, but this? Barely three syllables and only a single word. His own name was...one or two, depending on who was saying it. "Also I am not your friend, I'm simply someone you pelted with a snowball when I was minding my own business." The dragoulie may have sounded cross but he certainly wasn't. Pauk had patience to spare despite the grumbles and groans from his tail. The massive fluff was swaying just as the other Ghoulie's tail had, huffing and puffing and spouting out little words here and there. "Small and smaller and small and smaller." The tail chanted before Pauk's rear leg moved, giving a warning kick that was neither painful nor connecting; it served enough of a message that the tail went entirely silent. But now it was his turn to say his name, or something. That had originally be the deal, right? "Some people call me Pauk. I do not have a nickname, so do not give me one." Was that enough to satisfy this stranger? The snow was falling still and his back was getting covered, so the hybrid spread his wings in an effort to dust himself off. The motion whipped up quite a bit of breeze, which in turn also dusted off the Ghoulie in front of him who was...sitting. And also stepping on his tail, which sort of looked painful. Pauk's face must have showed it, for his four eyes narrowed with a faint grimace. Sesshy552 let's hope the quote doesn't break this time! and also sorry for so slow, the meta (sorta) is devouring me

His words caused the Ghoulie's ears to flick back as his eyes narrowed with his momentarily confusion. No nicknames? That hardly seemed interesting in the least. Even his tail's angry grumbling over their disagreement quieted at this new revelation. How completely and entirely boring. He didn't have time to think on everything the other had said when the wings suddenly snapped open and he was startled out of his thoughts. Jumping to his paws, Armaros stumbled back a step, narrowly missing stepping on both his hair and tail as he stared wide eyed at the hybrid. He'd never get over those things.
Clearing his throat he lifted a paw to smooth out the fur on his chest and offered the other a toothy, albeit frazzled smile. "Okay, no friend if you don't like, Pauk instead." Drawing in a deep breath he settled back on his haunches in the snow, his tail coming to curl back around his legs. The large head subtly rubbing a small spot on his front legs to soothe out the startle. "I'm confused though.." He began, pausing to try and gather his thoughts for a quick second. "Do you not like friends? I mean, you know my name and I know yours. We have something in common-" He indicated to his grumpy tail with a light chuckle. "Isn't that all it takes?"
It made perfect sense to him.houllow I understand completely <3

"Hrnn." Pauk made a noise of disapproval over how quickly this Armaros seemed to think they could be friends. "It's not as though I dislike having friends, it is more along the fact that I am....hmm." How was he going to explain that he was, well, very old? The draghoulie had outlived quite a number of friends and family thanks in part to the herb he'd found, so the concept of friendship was weak over the long decades. Hard to want to care about people when they died long before you. So what was the best way to say this for it to make sense? "I simply do not believe that you and I will ever meet again. This world is large and we are but two beings in it." That sounded a lot better than 'you'll die before I do', but at the same time it still sounded just as pompous. "If we do, perhaps then I could consider us friends. To simply know my name is not enough, as you don't even have any idea of who I really am." Would this pony even want to try and really get to know him? Either way the snow was picking up more, and he flapped his wings again to brush the both of them off. He thought about using his fire breath as well to clear a spot, but what if it upset this stranger? Pauk himself didn't personally care for his fire so how would this other ghoulie respond?

Armaros' listened with waning interest as Pauk tried to explain why they couldn't be friends. Something that vaguely made sense to the ghoulie but didn't quite settle perfectly well with him in the scope of things. "Okay, okay. I think I understand." Standing up suddenly after Pauk fell silent, Aros shook his long fur clean of the dusting of snow that had settled over it while he had listened just as Pauk's wings sent another gust that easily finished the job for him. "I can fix all of this. Just give me a moment." He'd offer the other a smile before trotting off to his right and stopping behind the hybrid; taking care to stay out of the way of his once grumpy tail. He'd wait back there a moment, his smile dropping as he counted the seconds.
How long before one meeting ended and another began? It was such a strange requirement to him. Did ending the current conversation but staying close work or did he have to travel away? Had the snow been just a dusting he would have run back over the embankment he'd started from but going downhill in deep snow was a lot easier than going up. As he mused he tipped his head to the left, his brows furrowed together. Was he going about this wrong? As a the second minute passed he felt a wave of impatience hit his body and quickly turned around with a heavy huff.
Okay so he failed that one, but maybe he didn't? There wasn't much hope in that he decided with a chuckle. "This is hard, do they have to be in order or can things go backwards?" Whether or not Pauk had stood still during that short bout of silence was up to him, but either way Armaros would have tried to return to his side. He was a persistent little ghoulie when he set his mind to solving something after all. "We can get to know each other first and then meet again later? Or if things have to be done in order we could both walk in a direction and see if we run into each other again?" Not ideal, but it's an option.

"Brick. Brick brick brick." Pauk had remained quiet and motionless through whatever it was the smaller ghoulie had been doing, but someone clearly felt the need to talk. His tail swished from where it had been sulking, mouthing out a single word in a monotone voice. "Brick." Why exactly the tail was calling the other pony a brick was up for debate and Pauk made no efforts to silence the chiding. He'd already kicked the tail earlier in warning and if it decided to continue then clearly it meant nothing could be done. For now, anyway. "What exactly were you attempting to accomplish by sneaking behind me? I have eyes in the back of my head, figuratively speaking. As do you." The tails, naturally. "Are you really that insistent on becoming an acquaintance of mine?"
