tab Alicorns are the reason Everchange remains stable. Without them, The Dreamer would have nothing stopping their dreams from erasing all of history due to a nasty nightmare. Alicorns, born with a natural instinct to perform their duties, protect their domain simply by existing. While they do have powers and are destined to use them, their mere existence keeps their domain mostly in check.

tab It's a huge roll to take on and not all enjoy it. Before you order an Alicorn you should read this guide to see exactly how to make a lore-fitting pony and what to expect from them.

Alicorns are essentially deity-like ponies who are tasked with keeping the world stable. While not all like their duty, all are bound to fulfilling it. Alicorns are powerless against the pull of their domain and will experience incredible physical and emotional pain if they turn their back on their duties. This can and often ends in death. As a result, even the most apathetic Alicorn responds to the call of their domain and actively uses their powers; although not all use them for good.

tab Some Alicorns are stronger than others. Some are good, some are bad. Alicorns come in all shapes and sizes, but they all are fulfilling their duties simply by living and using their powers. Their bodies act as an anchor for Everchange, keeping it in one place and time. Without Alicorns the world would return to its chaotic ways where time flickered in and out and the laws of nature changed every second.

tab Alicorns, despite their grand magic, have the same life span as other ponies. The only ones exempt from this rule are The Four, who seem completely immortal despite injury or age.


tab Every Alicorn has a domain, however they cannot change the natural flow of their domain. An Alicorn of Water will have powers related to her domain and is charged to protect bodies of water, but she cannot strip Everchange of water. She also, upon her death, won't stop the world from creating or using water, it simply will be unprotected until her reincarnation and subject to The Dreamers dreams. Alicorns are born/awakened knowing exactly how to use their domain and powers related to it. It's as easy as breathing for Alicorns.

tab When an Alicorn dies their domain is left unprotected and open for a new life to take. Often, domains prefer to stay within family lines and will immediately join the nearest Alicorn of their previous holder who is born. If this is not possible, a domain will seek just about any Alicorn born. Alicorns are often born with their domains, but sometimes an Alicorn might not have one for a day or two as a domain seeks them out. It's different per child, but no Alicorn is domain-less longer than two days.

tab While most Alicorns will receive a domain similar to their parents, sometimes a strange incident occurs where the domain they receive is completely unrelated to the parents. Alicorns like to joke that its the result of a desperate domain looking for any host.

tab When you select a domain there's a few things to consider, such as whether or not it's appropriate for the world of Everchange, whether it's overpowered, and if it actually needs to be a domain. In the case of what is allowed and encouraged, remember;


• Alicorns are assigned their domains whether or not their personality fits, but for the most part there's a reason that domain is needed within Everchange. Ridiculous domains are allowed, but they'll be less powerful than domains that actually influence the world significantly.
  
• An Alicorn will usually resemble their domain in some way, as they are directly connected to it. This does not mean, though, that there hasn't been an Alicorn or two who have directly contrasted their domain in appearance, it's just unlikely.
  
• Check the Alicorn list and ensure it isn't already taken. Also check the Alicorn wait list and claim list. This includes seeing if someone has a synonym of the title you wished for. While an Alicorn of Water is different from an Alicorn of Rivers, an Alicorn of Cats is not different from an Alicorn of Kitties.
  
• If you have similar domains, check that you are requesting different powers. Some can overlap depending on how similar the domain is, but must have something unique.

tab What you should not do, however, is;

• Attempt to copy another Alicorn concept and change some wording around to get away with it.
  
• Attempt to get a domain not normally acceptable by using choice wording. Everchange allows for almost an infinite amount of possibilities, there's no need to push the limits that are there.



tab Parent domains are domains that encompass a large category of more specific domains. This results in Alicorns with broader powers that can overlap with a domain that fits within that category. Parent domains focus on the general aspect of their domain while those within their scope specialize in a specific aspect of lesser parts within the parent domain, giving them more specific powers than their parent domain.

tab An example is an Alicorn of Water, who will have powers encompassing water in its whole. An Alicorn of Puddles, however, will have specific powers related to that domain, giving them more control of puddles and all that comes with them than the Alicorn of Water, who will have 6 powers that need to encompass water as a general being.


tab Domains that oppose another are considered "opposite" domains. For example, Evil and Good are opposite domains. While the bearers do not need to feel opposition towards one another, their powers and domain directly challenge the other. This can result in some interesting interactions, and even powers conflicting when they're around one another. Opposite domains should not share the same powers.


tab Domains that are unique in their own right but share part of a concept with another are considered "overlapping" domains. All domains should still have distinct powers and not be essentially copies of the other. The "parent" domain should not completely overpower the other Alicorns, either. Overlapping domains can share similar powers.

tab All Alicorns have powers, despite if they're a weaker Alicorn. While not all will have 6 powers, they'll at least have 1! Alicorns cannot give away their powers or take someone else's. Some can bless other ponies depending on their domain and skills, but these are very rarely permanent deals. The only exceptions to these rules are The Four, however their power is unique and unmatched.



tab Alicorns do not share most powers, but there are a small list of skills every Alicorn comes with, regardless of edits or injuries.

• The ability to master all Unicorn magic.
  
• Powerful hooves that rival Earth ponies.
  
• The ability to fly, even if wings are removed/injured.
  
• The ability to sap magic from a living being, briefly making them stronger.
  
• Telekinesis.



tab All Alicorns have their own powers related to their domain. They cannot, for instance, have a power that conflicts with their domain. For instance, the Alicorn of Love cannot have a power related to hatred. She can, however, have the ability to drain love, but this directly ties into her domain. There are clever ways to use powers, so keep that in mind if you have a specific idea that doesn't seem to be working. There most likely is a way to make it work!


tab Children can inherit a power from their parent if it makes sense, and their domains are similar. If the Alicorn of Fire has a child who inherits the domain of Lava, the child could also inherit a power from their parent. This is done upon birth and cannot be suddenly inherited as an adult. The only exception is a previously normal pony with an Alicorn parent. If they awaken they can inherit a power their parent has (as long as it fits their domain).
