Brian Lasting

Brian picked up a few more fronds to look busy and then stopped to listen to Jessica's story. He was also interested in why she knew so little about her power, suspiciously little, like she'd just got them. He'd had his powers since he was a teenager, but they didn't really suit him, he could charge his limbs to increase their power and release it in explosive bursts. As an administrator for Providence he found it was rarely useful for typing on a computer. He had once worked with a guy that could create slow fireballs, an equally useless skill in accounting, but sadly he had been fired after setting the printer alight in a bid to impress Linda from HR by telling her he was an ex-navy seal. As it turned out Jessica's story was as described, short. It did leave a lot of unanswered questions, like "Didn't you say you were like a sun, who's you dad, Hephaestus?" and "That's all you know about it?" He gripped the palm frond like a dagger and stabbed it in her direction. It yanked out of his hand and sailed to Arthur. Wow. He had never been so underwhelmed by what could be classed as a weapon. "Hey, maybe help?" He hoped he'd at least stop trying to kill them. Brian moved over to the tree with his collection of fronds, ready to start covering it as soon as they had propped it up.

Anastasiya Volkov
Varpulis

Anastasiya raised an eyebrow at the Aussy as she started walking away. She couldn't fathom why the answer to such a question was a secret. Perhaps she was embarrassed. Though Anna often struggled to understand the emotions and actions of others. She had a rather unorthodox upbringing and had never really cared to understand people. Anyone who knew Anastasiya would think it rather strange she had even asked Jessica about her powers. Perhaps it was being trapped on this island where she would likely need the others to survive, or perhaps Jessica's story was so strange it had caught her interest. Whatever the reason, Anna followed Jessica to where the other woman stood, a bit away from everyone else. After listening to her story, she asked "Did neither of you think to contact the Dominion or Providence? Even those weakling would be able to tell you something of your powers."

It seemed Ringo had been eavesdropping on the conversation despite Jessica's attempts at privacy, as he piped up with questions of his own about her story. Anna raised an eyebrow as it appeared Ringo was going to stab Jessica with one of the leaves before it was ripped out of his hand and flew towards Arthur, who despite several people's complaints, was still trying to summon weapons. "Well, I suppose that solves one annoyance."

~~

Once built, Anastasiya crawled inside the makeshift shelter. She only gave the guard a glance with a raised eyebrow, before heading inside. If Nova wanted to keep him alive she would need to drag him inside on her own. She wasn't how she felt about sharing a shelter with the others, but keeping her rain shield up was unnecessarily taxing, and she couldn't use her powers and sleep at the same time. Though she wasn't sure she would be sleeping tonight. It was important to keep her strength up, but she didn't trust anyway and had never been forced to sleep with strangers before. At the very least, she could take one of the ends, so there were people only to one side of her. "Someone will need to keep watch." The Russian stated bluntly.

Enjoy using your powers while you can kid, Lucy thought, as she watched a way too excited Nova go into action. The poor guard gave a very masculine scream before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he collapsed to the ground. It seemed that the last fright from Nova was just too much for him after everything else that had happened. Lucy rolled her eyes. "Useless." She had other things to worry about - mainly getting their shelter built so they could get out of the rain. Besides with that metal wrapped around his arms, she didn't imagine he'd be attacking them from behind or running off into the jungle. So Lucy stepped over him, and with the help of the other began setting up the shelter. With Nova's strength, they propped up the fallen tree and used the scrap metal to secure the log as well as the palm leaves so they didn't blow away in the wind, giving them a long, but skinny shelter from the wind and rain. The extra leaves were brought inside as bedding of sorts, covering the ground except for pits dug out for Jessica's heat rocks. It wasn't exactly ideal, but it would stop them from dying from exposure during the night, and they could make improvements when they had daylight to work with.

< Jessica Bishop - Gunslinger >
Wearing: armor liner - Mood: Paniced - With: Deviants - Gear: Nothing

"At the time... I think we were afraid. I know I was. I didn’t really know who to turn to." Looking to Brian the woman would sigh. She didn’t want many people to know she had close to know understanding of what all she could do. But people talked and soon it would seem everyone may know she was a late bloomer. Jessica did feel better telling someone this, letting a person in on her secret even if one extra person wasn’t to know. With it shared she'd return to her mundane task till she couldn’t anymore. With the shelter now built Jess sat on a rock, looking at the vast open ocean. When her confidant mentioned someone keeping watch Jess raised her hand. "I'll take first watch, hopefully the weather will improve." Her hand remained firm on the pistol, she didn’t like how Brian had been eyeing her earlier. At truth she was slightly afraid, afraid that someone in this group may kill her or see her as a danger. But through all the emotion and fear Jess would keep a level head, trying to push the anxieties away.

Arthur Anderson

Now there were trees falling, whoa. Arthur was content in his own little world summoning weapons on the hell of an island they all seemed stranded on when a palm frond flew towards him and landed on the ground. Brian told Arthur to help and Arthur stuck his hand out to the air. "You're all going to be thanking me when the island cannibals show up and we have weapons." Arthur said mostly as a joke. From his perspective he was their only means of gathering tools to build and secure their shelter. Real, useful tools. Not a stick with a stone tied to the end that someone wanted to call an axe.

Eventually the shelter was built and Anastasiya said someone would have to keep watch. Arthur wasn't too eager to be the one doing that but he who'd been summoning weapons rather than socializing did not trust the others to keep him alive while he slept so he held up a hand as if volunteering once the notion was put out there. He had a katana and limitless supply of weaponry at his hands, who better to keep watch? Maybe the girl with the gun he gave her.

Nova Primrose
Powermouse
"She may be small, but she is mighty"

Nova looked at the guard as he fell to the ground, his eyes rolling back into his head. She gasped and then looked to the others, a nervous grin on her face as she bent over him, "I'm not too sure what just happened..." she said, as she would leave him be and help to finished off their makeshift shelter. Once it was ready, Nova would collect the guard over her shoulder with ease and walk in with some of the others, she would place him down on one of the softer areas and sit down beside him, looking to the others.

Nova let out a sigh of relief as they were finally dry and all together, she then looked to Anastasiya and smiled as she shuffled closer to the woman. "So... where were you before all of this?" she asked her, trying to get to know her some more. Nova assumed they were going to most likely be together for a time to come, so would try to get to know all of them. She then turned her attention to Jessica, who offered to do the first watch. "Be careful, if you need any company just ask - I'm a good talker!" she said, almost ending it with a nervous laugh as she realized her company.

Brian Lasting

Brian looked at the group one last time before silently retreating into the shelter with Anastaiya. He had no desire to stand guard, or stay awake and chat with them in the cold and the rain. He just wanted morning to roll around and for their rescue to be waiting with a hot coffee. He'd once seen a documentary about how you were supposed to take off your wet clothes and share body heat if you were in this kind of situation. However the idea of raising this with the Russian filled him with a cold dread and he wisely decided to not raise the issue. He instead took off his shirt, balled it up and placed it under his head, then rolled over to pretend he was asleep and therefore unable to be a guard. It wasn't that he didn't want to be involved, or found it stupid to guard against invisible threats with poor visibility... Or, no... actually that was the reason. If questioned though, he would say that he didn't trust the idea of clinging to Jessica's nuclear rocks for heat and waking up without hair... or teeth. As he shivered, he did wonder what the likeliness of rescue was, they'd probably have to write SOS in the sand first and if the building of the shelter was anything to go by it would take days. Oh no, it needs to be mauve, and feel like glitter. You can't use stones, we need those to irradiate ourselves. Tomorrow was a new day, hopefully they would find they were actually next to a hotel and be sipping mojitos round the pool by the afternoon.

Anastasiya Volkov

"Seattle." The Russian answered as she gave Nova a perplexed look. Why was this girl sitting so near her? There wasn't a lot of room in the makeshift shelter, but generally, people tried to avoid her. "You?" Anastasiya supposed it was worth trying to find out if they had anything in common that may provide clues as to how they all ended up on that airplane, or who was behind it. Io the guard said, but she has never heard of the word and was currently cut off from the Dominion's vast resources.

The night was relatively uneventful. The storm blew over by the time Arthur took over watching from Jessica. Animal sounds could be heard in the night, as the various creatures emerged from their shelters. None of them saw fit to approach the newcomers to their island though. Finally, the sun rose, allowing the small group of survivors the first real look at the place they had crash-landed on. There were some downed branches and leaves from the nights' storm but for the most part the trees were relatively unscathed. The group had received a small blessing that a small number of coconuts had fallen to the ground (10 in the immediate area). At least starvation wasn't an immediate concern, though it begged the question of how many coconuts it took to feed a group of 7.

The hastily made shelter wasn't far from the beach. They had only wandered in about 10 meters or so. If anyone headed towards the beach they would see more wreckage had washed up onshore.

If you go towards the beach roll a 1d100 on Gaia. Then edit your post after you roll to include what you find

1-10 = Packed Parashoot
11-20 = Flare Gun Kit (gun and 6 rounds)
21 - 30 = Destress beacon
31-40 = Canned Water in Floation create (24 cans)
41-50 = Ration Kit (24 bars)
51-60 = Life Vests (2)
61-70 = Pilot (dead)
71-80 = Another Prisoner (unconsious but alive)
81-90 = Anti power collar
91-100 = See an odd shape down the beach. Could be a boat or a pile or rocks.

The night had passed without an issue, which was fine with her. All the while her mind thought on what was spoken to here about her gifts. With the storm passed Jessica walked down to the beach, and things looked bad. Debris was everywhere but some things looked salvageable. Sifting through piles of trash, metal, what she thought were remains, the Australian found something. "Crikey... that sure is some luck." Wiping away some sand and ash a ration pack was revealed. Taking a look over she would walk out with the box, setting it down at a relatively safe spot. "Can’t believe we survived that... it looks... so bad."

The watch was uneventful but in the dark of the night, every noise sounded like something that could have been coming for them. Arthur heard more than a few creatures scuttle across the ground around the newcomers but none came into the camp. When his shift was over he managed to drift off a little but he didn't sleep very well that night. It would take a harder man than him to rest well. He cuddled the katana like a pillow and thought about what he'd do in the morning until the sun rose. In the morning the hunger was worse than it had been the night before. Arthur took a coconut and chopped it open with the katana before carrying it down to the beach to drink from while he searched the wreckage that had washed up, finding little more than a flare gun kit with six rounds. "Anyone find anything good? I've got another gun."

Brian didn't make an attempt to take over for night watch from Arthur, not that he was asked, he wasn't event sure if Arthur informed anyone of the change in shifts or if he had assumed someone would just know. Either way it wasn't Brian's problem and they hadn't been killed much to his dismay. He did wake up uncomfortably close to Anastasia, in that they were both in the same hemisphere, he shimmed backwards into Arthur and then climbed over him to get out out the shelter, not really caring that the man was trying to make out with a blade. Since he woke before everyone else he decided to explore the beach in the sunlight before the rest of them. Perhaps it was unwise to leave the group, but if he found a hotel he'd tell someone in the staff to go and fetch them. Eventually. He walked a fair way down the beach, his palm frond skirt wasn't the most ideal garment ever fashioned and in the light of the morning it revealed more of his boxers than he was comfortable with. He found a stream a little ways up the beach and sat on the edge of the forest to drink from it, it didn't taste poisoned. There was a ship a little further down but it was more the old and sunk variety, then a modern pirate's dream cruiser. As he sat listening to the sea he thought he heard someone shouting from the jungle, having seen one too many horror films and wanting to at least live long enough to see everyone else die he decided to make the journey back.

As he was on his way to the camp he caught his toe on a package that was sticking out of the sand, causing him to trip over. He was sure glad nobody had seen him. The package as it turned out, after he had dug it out, was a packed parachute. His face lit up with the idea of erecting a big tent and lording the shade over the other members of the group. Especially Jessica. A part of him accredited this pettiness to his kidnapping and her obvious involvement but it could also have been how he was trying not to think about coffee. He didn't hurry back to the camp, but arrived to see Jessica had found food. He made a mental note to charge her for use of his shade after he'd built it. "Morning." He announced as he returned, it wasn't friendly more as an announcement that he still existed. "Yeah, I found your mum... She was busy with a bunch of sailors but said she'd be along shortly." Brian cackled to himself as he went to find some sticks for his grand structure. His plan was to make a big tent and then stand under it sipping mojito's until a boat came.
