They had been Mountain Clan, once. Strong. Proud. A family of warriors sworn to each other in bond and in blood. Time had taken the strength from their bones, leaving them weaker. Weary. Cold in a way they had not ever known. While they had their bonds and loyalties to one another, it seemed that, right now, that was all they had. Sunseer’s faith could only take them so far.
The distance had not been enough.
One by one, the cats of Mountain Clan laid their weary heads down. Sleep did not come easily—hungry bellies left doubt festering, with those who remained huddled together for warmth and comfort. Even now, the gentle promise of sleep—the end of one grueling day and a chance for peace—was little more than a whisper of the end. What point was there in waking up when there was no certainty in their future? No promise of a better life for them and their kittens? What kind of warriors were they if the little ones starved, mewling for milk that would not come?
When they had found some gentle reprieve from the cruel world, She came. Moving on silent paws, She worked her way through their ranks, no soul left conscious to bear witness to her grim duty. There were kittens here. Apprentices. Cats who had not yet begun to know life, and might not ever. One by one they had left their homes in search of something better, and tonight?
Tonight, they had failed.

Indeed they did. Despite their efforts, the prey pile was just not enough to fill every belly in MountainClan. But such is the way of clan life. And now, we must decide who will leave this clan to join another, to watch their friends and family live another day from their home in the sun.
