Located just past the gates and to the right, the Drop District is where most of the food for the village, both crops and live stock, are grown and stored. Here, too, is where shinobi looking to advance their knowledge of agriculture, herbology and any related fields go to study in the schools that line the outer portion of the swooping mountains. Rice and wheat, primarily, are grown here though in the last year or so fruits and more healthy vegetables have been on the rise as research is done to learn to safely incorporate the new crops without destabilizing the current ones. Also, livestock is considered to be exceptionally well kept and handled here. This one farm is large enough to feed the entirety of the village while retaining a surplus of storage for the winter seasons. Most of the people from the land of Swamp moved here, and occupy its space.

Market Shmarket. She loved shopping for ingredients there as much as the next chef, but when it came to meats for special occasions, she liked to get an early eye out for them. Rare beef was not a priority in this new world order, so chicken and pork were the mainstays for the seasoned cook. She liked to stare at the chickens and pigs in their pins and cages, as if there was something she could see in them as food before they were even sold. It was all bullshit, but nobody else knew that.
Except her shiba inu companion, Kaoru, who was bored out of her skull every time she came with Megumi to do this. The dog had nothing better to do today, so she tagged along to silently mock her human partner.
In truth Megumi was staring so still in her inspection she had to be nudged by Kaoru, losing her focus and falling over. Inadvertently gathering natural energy while in a transformation could have ruined the latter, which would blow her cover since she was only an imperfect sage, as she was so often reminded on her trips to visit the elder canine sages. Dusting herself off and glaring at her dog, Megumi picked up her empty basket and sword off the ground, latching the latter on to her back. All her weaponry was buried somewhere outside the village but she allowed herself a katana and chopsticks, at least. Kaoru started to stamp her paws and spin around, whimpering.
"Heckin' bored.I'm going to throttle whoever taught you to speak like that.I find this ritual to be pointless and demeaning.... you're not the boss of me.So graduation. Many Genin. Happy Ramen. It began to dawn on the both of them that a dog girl and a girl dog arguing while staring at livestock was a tad insane, so Megumi stretched up on her tip toes and threw her arms above her head, looking around. Kaoru was already bounding off to say hello to Shion, barking and wagging her tail and desperate for normal company. Megumi rolled her eyes and sauntered closer to the kunoichi walking along the path towards them."Sorry about her! She likes meeting new people. Kaoru sit! Shion casually made her way thought the Drop District, dragging her feet and moving at a slower than usual pace so she could blow off some steam; not that it would help brighten her disposition. Despite the payoff of what should surely be a relatively short apprenticeship, the situation still irritated Shion. Studying plants... what a drag. If she wanted to learn to care for flowers, she'd have never left home. Its not even like she planned on using the plants for poisons anyway; poison was a weapon for cowards in her eyes. Still, an assignment is an assignment. She really just needed get this over and done with. Thankfully, there'd be no intrusions between her and... oh.
Of course this wouldn't be easy; why would it be? Next on her list of distractions she'd really rather not deal with was some lost dog? It seemed like an easy enough fix. Shion removed one of her hands from her pockets and held it out towards the dog, palm upwards. Within seconds, multiple small explosions rippled across the girl's hand as she shot the dog a very uninterested look. Unfortunately, this seemed to have the opposite effect she was going for. Rather than scare the dog away, a person, presumably the dog's owner, ran up to her and asked for her time. "Look, I'm gonna put this as plainly as I can. I don't do dogs, so if its anything to do with... that... I'm not interested," She'd respond, pausing briefly to change her open palm to a pointing finger aimed at the animal before her.

Six men in black cloaks appeared and gathered round him in flashes of shunsin. The group of men began gesticulating with hand signs and exchanging banter. Whilst simultaneously Toso seemed to be smiling in response, wearing a similar black cloak. As quickly as they came they all dispersed, the only audible thing to anyone who may have gotten their interests piqued being "Don't worry, soon, bloop." Toso would loose a sigh but suffice to say seeing a large group of men in black cloaks surround a fellow was somewhat shady. Now in this moment Toso would proceed to do what it is exactly he came here to do. Spices. The resident Iron Chef proceeded to the nearest spice booth. Only to look at the prices and wince. Certainly it was a menial price to be paid for a nin like him but what most didn't know was that there were other 'expenditures' he had to handle.
Toso would place the spice tube back on the cart and wave the man goodbye. Who seemed rather surprised that he didn't make the purchase. Perhaps it would do the squid good to actually invest in botany. "YOUR LORD DEMANDS TRIBUTE!"The voice would sound in a loud an unmistakable way. Yes, speak of the devil in regards to expenditures, it was Toso's 'child'. unbeknownst to the inhabitants of Arashigakure this little girl was indeed not his child but simply was the niece of his 'wife'. Although Toso had grown a fondness for her like her aunt their relationship was...an interesting one.
"Ah, yes of course. Anything for my pride and joy. bloop." He'd then look down to see the short stature girl before placing a gentle hand on her head for a pat that could make a dog envious. He'd then reach into his jacket to provide the girl with some ryo. "Here you ahhhhhhhhhh....guah.""PERMISSION FOR PATS WAS NOT GRANTED! SHIONxxxxxMORO Moving on from the dog and it's owner, Shion made her way further into the market, though the word 'farther' might have been a bit too much. It was actually only about half a block when she came across Toso and the people he called his family as his daughter delivered a sucker punch right to the squid's gut. Shion let out an uproarious laughter as Toso crumpled to the ground and made her way across the street to him. "You always did know how to brighten my day, you know that?" she called out between laughs. While it might have come off as a joke, it wasn't exactly untrue; in the past, Toso had always been that proverbial 'shoulder' to lean on, that ear to vent into. "Cute kid. You baby sitting now?" She'd ask, unaware of Toso's newly found family man status.

Toso's face while it did not change at his 'wife's' 'accusations' showed a little red beneath the eyes. Perhaps he was more resilient to this type of thing when he was younger but in this moment it would be a lie to say he wasn't somewhat embarrassed as deep down he knew Homura was doing this on purpose. But rather than remain helpless he simply said. "None. Shion is a trusted comrade of mine. No more. No less. Bloop." Homura's attitude did a full reverse as she began patting her husband's back. "Aw you know I was just tuggin your tentacles husbando. Plus I know you wouldn't settle for a downgrade." The woman would say spitting a veiled insult.

SHIONxxxxxMORO They say opposites attract, but this... this was something else. Whoever this woman was, she was almost the direct opposite of stoic squid. She was bouncy, effervescent, and really, really raunchy. Sure, Toso had a... colorful... background when it came to the fairer sex, but he wasn't this explicit about it. Or at least as far as Shion knew; maybe he was just a common lecher and was just really, really good at hiding it. Whatever the case, at least he didnt shout about it in public. This woman's comments were the lewdest of lewd. Images flooded Shion's head as Toso's "wife" went further into detail about hypotheticals and her face turned a bright red, flush with obvious embarrassment. "Yeah... we're just... friends" she mumbled heavily, hoping to quickly jump to some other topic, or find a route out of this awkward encounter; either would do. At least, that was until Toso's "wife" decided to throw shade Shion's way. All sense of shame was pushed to the side as her pride came barging to the forefront. Her face was still very much bright red, but now because of her growing anger, and her fists tightened till her knuckles were white. Shion closed the gap between herself and Homura and delivered an obviously forced laugh. "Downgrade? Hahahaha, you know... all the explosions I deal with everyday must be effecting my hearing. Maybe you'd like to repeat yourself." Here we go; just when she was beginning to enjoy her day, something had to come along and ruin it. Aint that just the way.

Guess I wouldn't mind all too much if Toto cheated on me for you." She'd then place her hand on Shion's shoulder having successfully gotten her goat in a friendly gesture she'd displace the tension. Then she'd whisper in her ear. "Oh, I'm just messing with you, your a fine ball of youth you are." Homura's eyes then shifted toward Toso who looked a little unsettled in regards to what she may be telling Shion. "Plus the guy could use someone dealing in explosions if you catch my drift. He's a tough guy to please." She'd say moving a cupped hand up an down an imaginary shaft in front of Shion's eyes before laughing it off. Taking advantage of the image that may have just filled Shion's mind Homura gave her hearty pat on the back and walked passed her reuniting with their child. Homura would then bid her hubby farewell without turning around waving goodbye to those behind her. "Don't be out too late, and remember you got dinner tonight!" A thumbs up from a blonde female, a crying shopkeep with a large candy bag short, and a skipping girl with nary a care in the world toting a prize, signaled that Toso's 'wife' and 'child' were off.
With a sigh Toso couldn't help but apologize. "Ah, I'm sorry, my wife, she can be, bloop a bit eccentric." It would be hard to find it believable that the two of them could be husband and wife but looking at Toso's hand and the hand waving goodbye their matching wedding rings made it certain, or at least certain enough to most folks. Still their 'kid' looked nothing like either of them if not Homura only very very slightly. "If I'm to be correct bloop, you're engaging in botanical studies to further your career bloop. I'd hope it not all too inconvenient that I may join you in this endeavor. bloop." Toso changing the topic likely breaking any stupor Shion may or may not have been in.

Still obviously flustered, Shion let Toso's question hang in the air for a few seconds before turning to him for an answer. A little help or company wouldn't hurt, even if it was a little awkward given what just transpired. "Uh... yeah... no, yeah... I'm doing botany. You can join in if you want," she stammer, making odd glances away and back to Toso, trying to clear her face of her obvious signs of embarrassment.

The 'it' in question being left to Shion's interpretation but if the squid was good at anything it was keeping his feeling in check behind soft smiles and stale faces. "I find such situations much easier to deal with by doing so bloop. I'll see you in the fields then. Perchance you can bring whomever it was you were speaking with earlier." He'd allude hopefully reminding Shion there was someone else unless they had left already. Two of his tentacles made themselves known as they shaped themselves into a heart before he was gone in a blur. This was purely co-incidence though. Toso had merely learned how to channel chakra through his tentacles to fulfill the purpose of hand signs.
~~~~~~ Arriving at the fields Toso would consult the nearest farms man. Surprised at the sudden interest and the offer of help he'd make mention of needing to harvest and sow a new plot. Depending on how quickly Shion arrived Tosokurui Ashikoki Hojo would already be at work developing a healthy sweat with a towel over his shoulders his white collared shirt rather sweaty with the sweatiest of sweat. Heat was definitely something the man had a low tolerance for as could be assumed what with him being all squiddy and all. He'd shaped his large brushes head into a scythe and was cutting swathes of wheat in an almost entrancing manner, a dancer of sorts, a violent one, maybe more akin to a raver. [1/3
This was emphasized via his other tentacles, which had taken to wielding farmer scythes and sickles themselves. It may have almost been slightly frightening seeing how he was essentially a human machine cutting down large plots in single powerful strokes with the simple farms folk looking in both awe and entertainment as they collected the stalks that fell. Certainly ninjutsu was considered but the farmers said it was much harder to collect without damaging them in many instances of its use. Spoken from past experience they'd say. Decapitating air waves, water wave hand, these were just a few considerations that came to mind. Although, Toso was well behaved and as interested as he was to use these methods he kept it traditional. [2/3]
The first steps to botanical study was of course participating in their labors. Understanding proper technique, what to do and not do. He'd certainly learned a lot about wheat, one being that it made you b***h itchy when your cutting it down by the stalks full with fluff fluttering in the air. Toso certainly gained a new found appreciation for where his ingredients were coming from that was for certain. While he'd finished this plot in record time. He'd simply look at the rest of the plots with a bead of sweat. To think these dedicated people do this everyday. Leaning back and looking to the horizon of the beating sun he'd accept a water bottle from one of the farmhands drink, and then spray his face as the water drenched the rest of his body like a magazine cover model and for the moment alleviating the itchiness. Shion followed alongside Toso as he made his way to the fields. However, instead of following him to reap the crops, she would tend to some of the more sensitive plants. Part of her job would include working with various poisons and medicinal herbs, so farming wouldn't be the place for her. Not yet at least. Instead, Shion was lead to a greenhouse full of several pots of all different sizes and shapes. Once she was at her new work station, she would get to work. [1/3]
Her first task was simple: water the plants. The execution, however, would be quite the difficult task. Back home, all the watering was the same; you just make sure the pipes were clear and that water was flowing in from the river. These plants were so delicate; some needed a full on dousing while others would only accept a light sprinkling of mist. This was going to be a tricky task for sure. Slowly but surely, Shion visited each plant, checking its species with the carebook they kept on site so she didn't overwater anything. At least, she'd try not to. For all she knew, what the book considered a simple drizzle was wildly different from hers. Having done all she could for each plant, she moved on to her next step. [2/3]
A natural part of plant life is having leaves and buds wither and die, but if caught early enough, these buds can be pruned to allow the new growth to come in sooner. This was her next task. Shion began on one side of the room, grabbing a pair of clippers, and slowly examined each plant. If there was anything out of the ordinary, a brown leaf or a withered bulb, it received a clipping. If it was healthy and green, it was spared her wrath... for now. Plant by plant, leaf by leaf, Shion checked over each plant systematically making her way around the room until she had come full circle. After several hours, her task was finally completed. [3/3]

~Current Theme Music~:Buoyant Boogie- Splatoon 2 Beneath the depths of the earthen ocean, a beast of burdens lay in wait for the opportune time to catch its prey. There. The moment of completion, and relief from a job well done that was the ideal time to strike. A pair of glasses and matted hair rose discreetly beneath as a glasses lens glimmered like that of a sharks tooth. When Shion's guard was at its lowest would be when the squid man struck. His tentacles wrapped around Shion from behind in an instant as the squid man burst out from beneath the ground sounding far more enthusiastic than he normally does. "BEHOLD THE FRUIT OF MY LABOR BLOOPAH!" The tentacles would bring both Shion and Toso together in a manner most unexpected. Toso would feel like wet sand paper, covered in sweat, water, and grain pollen. While he didn't smell awful he did smell like an ocean a brine filled one. Likely due to his heritage.
Suddenly two farmers opened the door to the green house. "There he is." with one farmer grabbing him from behind semi-grossed out himself and the other unlatching his tentacles from Shion "Sorry mam this man ere seems to have gotten a bit o the sun stroke." The two of them began to drag Toso away who didn't seem to resist as he seemed to flatten out like a limp noodle. It seemed field work, as easy as it was for him the prolonged heat took its toll.

After her care for the special potted plants, Shion had quite the surplus of leftover plant materials that needed to be properly discarded; luckily, she knew just what to do. Back in her home village, the woodsmen would gather up fallen leaves, branches, and what-have-yous and throw them into the compost. Surely this location would have one too. After a few minutes, Shion had gathered all the appropriate materials into a small cloth satchel that she carried out to the compost stalls. She'd dump the clipped leaves and discarded branches into the pile of bio-mush and bury the newly added matter by mixing it in with a nearby pitch fork. Once the mulch had been properly disposed of, Shion made her way back to the main compound to begin her next task. [1/1] -2 posts for training coupons [2/10 used]
As she made her way to her next task, Toso decided to make a move on Shion. The surprise attack caught her off guard, but it wasn't fast enough to ensnare the girl. The instant she caught the movements of tentacles moving in around her, Shion poofed out of the immediate reach of the tentacles only to reappear a few feet away. Her hands were outstretched and had begun to spark and crackle with her Bakuton chakra, which she had recently grown quite accustomed to calling up in a moment's notice. Seeing that it was Toso, she quickly lowered her combat stance and shook her head as the farmers dragged him off to do gods only know what. While Toso took his leave, she'd pick up where he left off.
Shion gathered up a farmer's scythe and made her way out to the fields. Taking a hold of the unwieldy crop harvesting tool, Shion took a stance she'd normally only use for fighting with her katana. With a deep breath, she would begin twirling around the field, slashing outwards and spinning around with the scythe in a series of fluid motions. With each swipe, entire swaths of grain would be felled in her wake. While the process of cutting it all down took only a few minutes, Shion would spend the next few hours actually collecting her harvest. [1/1] -2 posts used [4/10 used]
After a long day of work, it was time to turn in. Hopefully by now, Toso had cooled off and successfully recovered from his impending heat stroke. She'd make her way to where the farmers took the squid to cool off and make sure he was okay. "Yo Toso, you good? she'd call out, entering the room she was directed to.

~Current Theme Music~:Buoyant Boogie- Splatoon 2 Toso lay in a cot of cotton as a farmer provided him with a glass of water from a cooler inside. Upon seeing Shion he'd give her a small and brief smile. "Guess I over did it bloop." It was certainly a very humbling moment for Toso, Shion's alleged superior to be outdone by something as simple as the heat from the sun. These times of peace had certainly weakened the squid man to a degree. His pursuit of the culinary and painted arts had done little for his him in the physical department health department. Still his brand of being a Bukijutsu user would prevent him from shirking entirely on his physical training.
The classes he taught were about fuuinjutsu, rarely did he engage in any field work, the kitchen was its own battlefield but even then he wasn't getting out as much as he used to. Toso's reflection portrayed itself in the water he'd yet to drink, and for the moment his otherwise always stalwart face that would crack the occasional smile. Frowned. It would then return to its normal state rather quickly. "Ah bloop, don't you worry too much about me Shio-nee. I'd like not to slow you down. Please proceed as though I were never here. bloop."
Toso had grown rather complacent as of late. Pehaps it because he hadn't expected to see so many shifts in power in his lifetime, Kaileer, Thanatos, Shiro, and now the Twins. Looking back to the war that brought about Shiro's retirement he could only recall how little of a part he played in it...and now. The place known as Kumogakure, couldn't even be called that anymore. Everything was changing and while the man himself was one that welcomed change he couldn't help but feel as though maybe her himself couldn't keep up.
