Naomi Watch
┗━━━━━━━━━┛

Even Naomi had better situational awareness than that, which was saying something. Even if the gun worked, they were in a crowded elevator with bad lighting and water slowly flooding the room. Hell, he didn't even notice her standing behind him. Though, in all fairness to the guard, Jayson had just taken out the warden. 'Dibs out on carrying him.' She thought while Jayson started giving instructions. She grinned a bit when Jacob bowed, but heard her name. 'Something to prop the door open...something to prop the door open.' She thought, looking around the room wondering what she was supposed to find in the elevator.

The guard took a step back from Jacob. Naomi wished she could see his expression from where she was standing because she bet it was priceless. Trapped in an elevator with five criminals, three of whom weren't shy about murdering people. She wasn't one to give up an opening when she saw though, so while the guard was busy being weirded out by Jacob, Naomi ran out from behind the guard. "Yoink!" she shouted gleefully as she jumped up and pulled the shotgun from the guard's hands. Luckily, the weapon pulled free. Boy, it would have been embarrassing if it hadn't. She had shouted yoink and everything!

Water came rushing in a torrent when Adora managed to shove the doors open. Initially, it knocked Noami off her feet, but it was too her advantage anyway. Water was where she was home. She quickly kicked off her shoes and darted forward. A jet of water shot out of both her feet, overpowering that of the water rushing in. Slithering between Adora's legs, Noami popped up on the other side of the door and jammed the rifle in longways, all grinning. It wasn't as if the prison had a pool. "Anyone need a lift?"

As instructed, Veronica stops her flame and rolls over into the water, and as said the goo slowly slides off her body. She then stands up stretching out what's left and wiping off the remainder. After a few minutes she runs her arms and makes a faint purring sound feeling her scales, but the joy was interrupted when the guard shouted. Veronica glanced and turned to the guard then went back to doing her thing, only to be interrupted by Jayson, after hearing his request she gets up and walks towards the warden and picks him up with both arms.

Once she saw Adora open the doors and with the rush of water , Veronica did her best to hold her ground, she made a quick inhale but holds he breath, while doing so her chest remains lit and she presses forward with the warden in hand.

JAYSON WRIGHT

As soon as the doors opened there was a noticeable influx of water, the level on the outside was much higher than it was on the inside and it surged inside immediately. Jayson crouched and tensed to avoid being knocked over as it swept past and then straightened up as it seemed to even out. The elevator was sinking deeper, he had no idea how deep the shaft was and he had no desire to find out. "Everybody out." He motioned to the doors, and then turned to grab the warden, he wasn't doing a great job at supporting him and was thankful when Veronica took him. Naomi had disarmed the guard at this point and slipped past to jam the doors, this was her playground and he had no intention of telling her what to do while standing waist deep in rapidly rising water. He took a step forwards towards the doors. The guard, understandably thrown off by Jacob act of mercy and now weaponless started heading out, it was hard to say if it was an act of self preservation or if he had heard Jayson's orders and his default was just to follow commands. Jayson put his hand on Adora as he reached the doorway, they were between floors but the doors to the higher floor was jammed open at an odd angle. "Give me a boost." He climbed up and out then turned to help the rest of them. Or at least the ones that hadn't pushed past to get out first.

In the poor light cast from a red emergency bulb on the door it seemed like they were on another floor of the prison, the water was ankle deep on this floor but at least it wasn't rising. There was a creak from somewhere above the in the shaft, followed by a whooshing noise and a huge splash as the elevator's cable crashed down fully submerging the metal tomb. Jayson straightened up and cast a look around, but due to the poor lighting he could only make out shapes. "Is everybody here?" He asked. He pressed the button on the torch, it had gotten a little wet in the escape but as he learned as the torch illuminated and blinded him that it was in fact working. He quickly shifted the beam away from his face and blinked a few times to get his eyes to adjust.

Quite impressed by the blonde girl's quickness in the rising water that seemed like a natural home to her, she carefully held the doors open while the rest squeezed through. Upon Jayson's request, she propped her back against the door as extra support to keep it open before easily lifting him and anyone else that needed help up and out of the elevator. She could hear the strain on the cables, almost as if the elevator was whining about the increase of water wight. That was her cue. She took one last quick glance around to make sure everyone was free before returning to her normal human state and lifting herself up and out of the elevator . Her escape seemed to be well timed, too, given the cables snapped under it's weight and went crashing down into the water below and disappearing from sight.

The woman eyed the hallway they stood in. The light wasn't that great, given the only light they had was the red emergency bulb nearby, but she was able to allow her eyes return to their cat-like state from before in order for her to see better in the darkness. She adjusted rather quickly as Jayson took a headcount. She didn't know anyone here but them so it was best for him to do that, given she wouldn't know the difference if someone was missing or not. Returning her gaze to him when she heard the immediate poof and crackle of a flame, her eyes squinted and she grimaced as she looked away from the sudden bright light around them. "Goodness, Jayson. Aim that thing away from us."

Jacob looked around the dim lit chamber. They'd really just traded one prison for another but he wasn't deterred by the lack of progress yet. He splashed some water with his foot when Jayson asked if everyone was there and gave a small chuckle. What if it did start to rise? Well back up the elevator shaft then probably. No. Then you don't get to see what's ahead of you. Yeah but you don't drown. Jacob looked around. Where was all this water coming from? Was it clean? Could he drown the warden in it? Where was the warden? Jacob began to look around for the man who 'lead' the guard that imprisoned them.

Naomi was probably the only one who was disappointed that the water was only ankle deep on this floor. She thought about suggesting she take the lower flooded floor and zip ahead, but she has seen enough horror movies to know splitting up was a bad idea. "Where do you think it goes?" She asked the obvious question while peering into the dim red light ahead. A blue-green luminescence light up the area, emanating from her body, as Naomi tried to see ahead, though she didn't seem aware of it. Her ponderings were interrupted by the sound of metal wrenching. she turned to see the long metal snake of cable following by a chunk of machinery. "See, never split the group." She said to herself while giving a nod. "Gah!" Naomi shielded her eyes as a flashlight suddenly blinded her, and Adora as well it seemed, as the shapeshifter complained.

She lowered her arms when Jayson pointed the light away from them. "Alright, I'm taking bets. Is our friend the Warden here," She gestured to the unconscious man in Veronica's arms, "skimming off the top, or is this place seriously underfunded? Feel free to make your own alternative theory!"

Once out of the water and in the ankle deep flood, Veronica shakes herself of the water almost like a dog, she then slightly unfolds he wings and looks at them in disappointment. Turning to the rest of the group she looks and see's most of everything is in darkness except for a red light. Her eyes adjusted quite ly to the dark but was still unable to see for a time, the when Jayson lit his torch and asked if everyone was here, Veronica just gave a simple nod, then looked around. Then when she heard naomi's question, she thought about how it is not as much trouble for breaking out of here but doesnt want too. " I too will go with the underfunded. It would probably make for an easy escape." She then turns to Jayson, " so where too next? It seems this is obvious but all this seems orchestrated, maybe someone on the inside. I am not sure but I am having fun in a sense"

JAYSON WRIGHT

A quick head count revealed they were all there. He shone the light towards the guard who was edging his way away from the group, he gave a sheepish yelp and ran off into the dark. "Wait!" Jayson yelled as the sound of splashing became fainter. "Leave your stuff." He turned back to the group and shrugged. "Jacob, you had one job." He laughed to himself as he moved to check on the warden. He really had done a number on him when he hit him with the torch, but it seemed he was just unconscious and not dead. He casually turned the light to the black lines on his arms, proof of their contract. He wasn't sure that if the warden died the contract would break or be bound to him forever. Honestly it wasn't something he wanted to test. He shone the light to the shaft and wrinkled his nose. Then looked about the rest of the area, it looked like the rest of the prison but wetter. He slapped the warden's face and shone the light at him for a minute, then moved it under his chin so they could see his face. "Alright, lets find a way up and out of this water. Veronica, are you alright to keep carrying the Warden? Let me know if he looks like he's waking up. Naomi..." He paused as a blood curdling scream filled the otherwise silent air. He shook his head. "That took longer than I thought it would, hopefully it wasn't a werewolf." He looked at Adora and the two other animal deviants and shrugged. They probably didn't need another one roaming about. "Naomi, can you check the way forward and look for stairs. Jacob, your in front, I'll keep the torch, use Naomi as a guide. It takes 3 minutes for people's eyes to adjust to the dark, so... food for thought." He looked at Adora. "Can you hit me up with some sonar or something? Do you see anything in the dark? Blood in the water?" Of all of them Adora was the most equip to deal with a dark basement with unknown horrors. From the elevator if this was similar to the upper floors then he was fairly certain this corridor would lead them to a catwalk above a large communal area, from there they would be able to head up. Well in theory, if it was the same. "Any questions? Anyone want to sit here in the water arguing about things? I'm always game." He grinned and then motioned for them to go.

The guard shying away from them was no surprise, her gaze resting on his back until he vanished from sight. He didn't seem smart, especially given he ran into the darkness alone not knowing what resided down here or if it was even safe for him. His best bet would have ultimately been to stay with those that could essentially protect him but unfortunately they seemed more of a threat to him than the unknown. Oh well.. With a sigh she crossed her arms, not wanting to linger here any longer than they should. It was already enough of a detour that she was stuck down here with these people, she really just wanted to grab Jayson and scoot her way on out of here. But nothing was ever that easy, was it.

Her head snapped in the direction of the scream as it rang out down the hall, her body tensing for a second as she continued to listen for anything that could be headed their way. When nothing was heard her focus was turned onto Jayson, listening to him dish out commands. Their eyes locked for a brief moment, clearly understanding that neither of them wanted another creature among the group, before he averted his gaze toward the others. When she was given her job her cat-like eyes blinked and took in their surroundings once more. "All I see is a flooded hallway. Nothing out of the ordinary just yet." Her feet wading through the water as she stepped ahead of the group, the woman stayed silent. She was listening for something, anything, that would indicate that they weren't alone down here. That scream was enough to tell her to be alert, and with more that herself to protect she needed to be more on her toes than usual.

She rounded the corner just in time to see something shift in the distance. It made the water ripple in her direction just as it bolted down another hallway, a low growl beginning to rumble in her chest. "Careful, we're not alone." She spoke lowly as she threw those words over her shoulder. If this were any other situation she would have sped after it. But with a group like this she couldn't act carelessly, and she couldn't let Jayson leave her sight. Not again.

Jacob Freeman

"Look, if you want someone dead, just say 'kill him,' otherwise I'm just gonna spook him." Jacob replied when Jayson lamented about Jacob having one job he didn't do. That wasn't true. Jacob was just as likely to kill him without being told as he was to wait for instruction. Then when Jayson sought to exert a little control over the group, Jacob laughed. His laughter echoed off the walls of the wet prison they were in now. He laughed but he did what Jayson said, even if it put him in danger. Oh yes, Jacob. You walk down the dark hall and I'll hold the flashlight back here... do you wanna hold my knife too? Jacob kept his thoughts to himself and would have moved on ahead, but Jayson invited argument and Jacob was too twisted not to partake. "Why not give me the flashlight?" You crumpet eater. Who called it a torch? Well Jacob knew who... that wasn't the point... or was it? He couldn't tell, he just wanted the light. Then Adora said they weren't alone and Jacob fixed a sinister look on her. "Some of us are never alone."

Naomi tilted her head a bit in curiosity, watching the guard run off into the darkness ahead. "Coward!" She yelled after him and then giggled. She couldn't really blame him, but she didn't think he had a light on him. "He's gonna get sooo lost." She grinned and turned to the others. She was a bit disappointed that only Veronica took her up on the bet on why the elevator was so shotty or that the basement was flooded. "I guess I'm taking the Warden is stealing money." She said with a shrug. "$5 at the commissary?" They really didn't have a lot to bet, being in prison and all.

"Spooky." Naomi commented when a scream interrupted Jayson explaining his game plan. Adora seemed to be the only other one concerned about it, Jayson, carrying on with his plan while Jacob laughed. Jacob laughing was never a good thing. Who it wasn't good for was the question at hand. "My apologies to Hollywood." She said to herself. Apparently, it wasn't as unrealistic as she had previously thought for people to hear a scream and then go wandering in the dark after it. Granted their only other option was to attempt to climb the elevator shaft. She gave Jayson a double thumbs up and said "Alright, but when something grabs me, you better send in the dragon! I've seen enough movies to know where this is going."

The glowing Cephalopod headed down the water-filled hallway with Adora with full confidence that no one would save her if something grabbed her in the dark. This was prison, even if they had fallen into a horror movie. Luckily, while Naomi wasn't a fighter, she was excellent at escaping. And they had a dragon on their side. "So how are you going to get Jayson out of here?" She asked Adora while they walked a bit ahead of the others. Did the dynamic duo have a plan? In response, Naomi got a growl, followed by some movement down the hall. "Probably just a rat." Besides they needed to keep the dragon in the back. Jacob was 100% the surprise twist murderer like in Scary Movie. Or was that too obvious?

JAYSON WRIGHT

Jayson wasn't entirely sure what to make of Jacob's laughter, so gave a little chuckle himself. "Yeah, on you go." He assumed that the man had also realised the humor in the situation, stuck underground with one light, wading through a foot of water with lord knows what in it with a dragon, a squid and every other conceivable animal. He had to admit he found the situation funny too but now wasn't the time. In much lighter spirits he responded to his next question, missing the tone in his voice and misinterpreting it as Jacob's usual cheerful self. "I've got it on you, don't worry." True to his word the torch had been pointing ahead of him and into Jacob's back since they started walking. He was helping Veronica carry the warden and make sure she didn't trip while carrying the unconscious man. He felt slightly guilty, he hadn't meant to brain him with the torch but it was too late now. He followed Adora around the corner and pointed the torch in the direction of the movement, long gone by the time he was there. "Naomi, start big, that way you'll be less surprised when it's a terrifying monster." He grinned but was distracted by the movements that were still in the water.

He pointed the torch towards the ripples, they hadn't stopped since the creature had ran away. He raised the torch to a point in the corridor where they seemed to originate, but the hallway itself was empty. As they approached there was a glimmer, the light seemed to twist in the air as if it was reflecting off steam or some sort of thin glass sheet. "Ooo. Can anyone else see that?" He had to ask, although if this was a hallucination, it was pretty mild. "Has anyone got a stick? Lets poke it." Unfortunately, due to the warden's power restricting his he wasn't able to summon anything that he had recently eaten. That, he felt, was unlikely to change if they woke the warden and asked him nicely to release the contract he had over him. Jayson's powers in general made him problematic for the medium security prison they found themselves in. But clearly he didn't warrant moving to a more secure facility, it wasn't like he was a walking atomic bomb or some sort of living plague. Back to the matter at hand he didn't want to risk the torch or his hand so instead opted to splash some water through it. The water seemed to fly close but was reflected away before hitting the fissure. He splashed it again and looked at the group. "What do you reckon it is?" He felt he had seen something familiar before but couldn't place it.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ It's ten times as hard to put yourself back together...

Jacob's comment didn't phase her. Not much did nowadays. The man wasn't wrong either. Many of them were probably struggling with some sort of inner turmoil that left them mad if they lingered on it for too long. And given the way she's observed Jacob and what she knew about him from old files he wasn't the most stable man in the universe. So instead she decided to simply smirk at his comment and nothing more. Maybe in a different situation she would have dove further into conversation or debate with him but this wasn't the time for that.

Instead her gaze stay sharp ahead of her, looking out for anything that moved in her sight. She did glance over at the woman beside her when she met her side. Her question made her brow furrow slightly but she looked ahead before the other could question why she made such a face. She wasn't really keen on sharing plans or ideas when it came to what she and Jayson would do. She was quite protective of him, actually, so him being in this jail bothered her constantly. "My initial plan seems to have failed, given our current predicament. I've always been one to think on my feet, however, so I'll find another way. I just need an opening." That was all the information she was willing to give. It was simple enough to satisfy her question so Amora assumed there would be no more questions following.

Thankfully there wasn't any time for more prying because they had reached the corridor where the creature had escaped down, pulling her full attention to it and halting any need to converse further. Taking a slight step forward, Amora's eyes observed the glimmer ahead of them. It didn't seem natural and it wasn't being reflected from anywhere so it warranted pause. Coming to a stop, the brunette simply nodded at Jayson's question but didn't pull her gaze away from the film that seemed to block them from going any further. The water he splashed seemed to reflect back, spattering in the pool just in front of her. "It seems to be a barrier of some sort. Could it be protecting something? That creature, maybe?" Pausing a moment, she glanced back to the crowd behind her. "Would anyone be opposed to using the warden's body to test the effects? Surely if he can go through it unharmed we can." She didn't really care for the male and still didn't understand why they had to carry him around. Might as well put him to use, right?

It wasn't too obvious to think that Jacob would be the strange twist murderer but then again, it was not really a twist if you were expecting him to do it. Then again that didn't mean he wouldn't pull his knife out and jam it into one of their necks when their back was turned for no reason other than a small laugh. The more Jayson talked, the more he thought about doing it to him. He wondered what Jayson's voice would sound like while gargling his own blood but he didn't allow himself to get too distracted by his thoughts while he looked on into the dark. They reached a little barrier of sorts and Adora suggested something fun for the first time since he'd seen her. Or it seemed like the first time. It was hard to really tell. "Dibs." And Jacob had pulled the warden's body away from her sloppily, allowing him to drag in the water a little, "Ooo, he's a heavy one." Jacob said before pushing the warden's body towards the barrier to see what happened.

Naomi tilted her head a bit at the twisting light as if that would somehow help her figure out what it was. "Never seen a power do something like that without the person being around." She commented. In a world where superpowers could do just about anything imaginable, it was natural for Naomi to assume it was some kind of deviance causing the shimmer to twist in the air. "Whoa!" She exclaimed, moving with an agility that was most certainly supernatural, and cathing the Warden before he could hit the barrier. "As much as I'd like the git to get what's coming to him, I don't want to be trapped in this prison for the rest of my life." She explained while struggling to support the man's weight. "I have no idea what happens to the contracts when he dies, and I don't want to find out the hard way."
