Multilingual by birth, since her father's side of the family are from Finland, Vera grew up in a household with many languages. She was able to speak English, Finnish, and Scottish by the time she was five. Like with many multilinguals, she has different personalities with each language. When she speaks Finnish, she is very respectful and graceful. It was because of her skill for learning languages that she decided she wanted to be a linguist. Although her power would make her perfect for every language known to mankind, she wants to learn through her own will-power and intelligence rather than "cheating". She prefers when people do not use their powers unless necessary, and finds those who use theirs on a daily are more likely to be caught and make a world of trouble for the rest of the world.

Growing up in Scotland to a family of many languages, her powers manifested from birth. This fact is very rare among "metahumans" as powers normally manifest from the age of 10 and onwards. Vera was able to learn and remember languages with ease, not needing to read subtitles of foreign movies by the time she was 4. With her ability, she understands: Korean, German, Italian, and French. She begun learning other languages from scratch, not wanting to use the easy way out. Her passion for languages fully came to her mind when she was fourteen and asked to translate between two French and German businessmen and accomplished this with ease. She decided she would learn every other language on Earth to perfection and be a translator. She aspires to work for the United Nations, but has a desire to translate for anything or anyone. She likes making her own language up, with a grammatical pattern and everything.
