Be less curious about people and more curious about ideas
Marie Curie Hall, the home of Science, teaches a whole lot more than that and to sum it up we believe that science is a way of helping the brain grow in finding new knowledge and helps us defeat our curiosity of how the world develops and works today. Science is important because it has helped form the world that we live in today. Every person feels the effects of science in every sphere of life. It is not merely the electric light or the electric fan, the radio or the cinema that displays the power of science in our daily life, but everything we do or is done to us is in some way or another connected with science. Through learning these ideologies and more, students who excel in the Sciences can go on to make advancing strides for humanity in the future.

Kolya had run the whole way, careful not to lose Jace, making it to the door as Mister Torvald had only just opened it from the inside. "We're not late, are we?" he panted. To his delight, he and Jace were the first two students to make it to the class from the Arena. He took a seat near the windows, along the front. Kolya watched other students walk through, chatting away in groups or on their own. "Ready for an adventure?" he whispered under his breath with a grin.

Oliver had only just opened the door from the inside when two students ran up to the door. He was expecting some students to be late, as the Arena was full and most students wouldn't know where to go. "Not at all, you're the first two here. Take a seat anywhere you want," he stated with a smile. He'd forgotten that Kolya, the tall boy he was, was only slightly smaller than he was. Very few students, let alone teachers, on the campus were over six foot tall. Kolya was three inches shorter than Oliver, standing at 6' 7", while Oliver was a staggering 6' 10". His shaved hair and tattoos on proud display took many students by surprise, but he wasn't about to lie about who he was. He wanted to make his students feel at ease, and that was simply by being themselves. "Class starts in five minutes," he announced as students filed in.
Jace ran towards the class staying close to Kolya as they weaved through the students to make it to their class across campus. He stopped at the door and caught his breath while the teacher said they were the first two there. Jace followed Kolys inside and sat down beside him. "Ready" he said smiling. He looked at their teacher and had to admit he looked pretty cool. He wouldn't expect him to be a teacher.

Not sure. I was thinking about that too. Would he be shorter? or taller?
"He's a really cool guy. Not like the others, is he?" he whispered. He was excited to see how Oliver taught, whether it would be by-the-book, Forensics 101, or something of a new twist. He was hoping for the latter, something fun and exciting that would keep students coming to class and doing their work. He put his books out on his desk and his iced coffee thermos between him and Jace. Although Jace had the hot coffee before, he was willing to share the iced coffee too. "We should be starting now," he said, opening his book and getting ready to take notes.

Once all 50 students of his were in the room, Oliver took roll call. Kolya and Jace had been marked down ahead of the others, so he skipped calling them again. After that was done, Oliver sat on the desk, the flannel shirt of his outfit bunching as he rested himself. He turned the projector on and cleared his throat to get the attention of the students. "Forensic Science. In this roll, you are going to learn to collect, preserve, and analyze scientific evidence during the course of an investigation. While some forensic scientists travel to the scene of the crime to collect the evidence themselves, others occupy a laboratory role, performing analysis on objects brought to them by other individuals. Which role you choose to take is up to you. From identifying remains to criminalistics to ballistics, there is a vast range to choose from. My only job is to help you find that path and guide you along. It's up to you to make the leap towards your goals," he announced.
Most students were whispering around him, confused at his approach. "Like I said, I am not going to hold your hands and baby you through the whole course. I am going to give you the tools to find where you want to go and you need to take the initiative to get there. In this class room, you are your own teachers," he chuckled. Some students applauded and others cheered, appreciative in his teaching method.
"Yeah he's really cool" Jace whispered back as he took out a notebook just in case he needed to write anything. He smiled at Kolya and listened to Oliver as he called role then began to go through the objectives of the class. He found his teaching style interesting and he could tell he was going to enjoy this class. Though he still hadn't decided what tole he wanted to do in the future. He was glad that the focus of this class was to figure out what path he wanted to pursue. He was excited for this he applauded with the other students.

"What we are going to do is go around the class and you will say what you want to do with this career. If you don't know, say skip and we can go back to you. This is just so we see who wants to go where with this degree," he said before he coughed slightly, "as some students might not be aware forensic science might not lead to where they want to go. Other students might give you the creative idea to pursue something else. We will start in surname alphabetical order. Haven Aakaster, you're first."
It wasn't long until it got to Jace, whose surname started with a C. "Jace, surprise me. What do you want to do with a forensic science degree? We've got students who want to do blood splatter science, toxicology, even some who want to be medical examiners with this. What is it that you have your heart set on?" he asked.
Kolya had been writing down the many options of careers, and the names of people in the class. He was listing the names, careers, and basic notes of people in case he needed to talk to them. Many of them had simple names, few were exotic and European or Asian. When Jace was called on, he turned his head slightly to listen. True, he knew what Jace's career path was, but he wanted to see other students reactions. Few wanted to get to the gruesome part of crime scene investigation. Heck, he wanted to be a homicide detective. No one had mentioned that yet. It seemed more students in the room wanted to have a roll in forensic science in a lab rather than in the field.
Jace listened as they started going to the list and people began to explain wheat they wanted to do. Everyone had much safer career paths then he did. He rubbed the back of his neck when his name was called and Oliver asked him what he wanted to do. He looked to Kolya then back to their teacher. "I want to be a crime scene investigator. I want to work in the field going to scenes and evaluating them while collecting the evidence that everyone else will study and evaluate and using that to solve the crimes." he told his teacher. It could be a dangerous job since you still risked your life going out to those scenes and of course investigating them but its what he really wanted to do.

I could picture Jace protecting him too since he's doing martial arts too..
Haha, yeah. Oh, I'm making a drama major teacher to help you and Author out. Given there's no drama teacher.

"Well put. Forensic Science lends itself to more than just analysis in a lab, although those roles are still crucial. Especially in homicides and accidents. Fingerprint analysis is vital in putting criminals behind bars, but let's not stray to far from the point," Oliver said with a grin. Students went on, explain similar roles to previous students; toxicologist, criminalist, forensic anthropologist, forensic ontontologist, DNA analysist, medical examiner, and so on. Soon, it came to Kolya's turn. Oliver himself did not know what his chosen career path was, only the major he'd chosen. "Kolya, anything new to add to our growing list of forensic paths?" he asked.
His pen dropped when his name was called. He didn't need to write down himself, after all. He looked around the class, everyone's eyes locked on him. This would be interesting to say out loud. "I want to be a homicide detective. Use my skills learnt in this class to stop criminals," he announced with confidence. Several students stiffled gasps and one student mouthed the word weirdo from the corner. Kolya ignored the statements, knowing his powers would be most useful in the field rather than in a lab. If he was going to do any other forensic role, it would be medical examination. He was set in his ways, and no one else's opinion would change his mind.
Jace listened as to his teacher as he talked about what he said and explained other career options. He listened as the list went on. He was the only one wanting to be a crime scene investigator and then he turned to look at Kolya when it was his turn. He could see the Kolya was proud in his decision and he turned to glared at the student that mouthed weirdo. He didnt see what was so wrong with wanting to be a homicide detective. He thought it was a cool choice. He put his hand on Kolya's shoulder and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He wanted him to know he believed in him.

Frowning at the reactions of some students, he slammed his hand down on the desk. "No answer is a bad answer, not in this instant. Anyone who is going to try ridiculing others on their choices can spend the rest of this class, where we will explain vital information not to be repeated, outside in the hall. Am I clear?" he said, making direct eye-contact with those students trying to make a scene. They slumped over in a defeated fashion and he continued with the remaining twelve students in the class. Once everyone had answered their profession choices, Oliver continued with the class.
"Forensic Science, by definition, is the the application of scientific methods and techniques to matters under investigation by a court of law. In this class, we will be looking into methods of finger print analysis, molecular biology, toxicology, and biomedical science to name a few. For some students, those who wish to take a PhD in this subject, you will be seeing my face for the next six years. The rest of you only need to see me for the next 2 to 4 years, depending on your level of study," he said with a wide grin.
Kolya responded to Jace's gesture by squeezing his hand in return. This, at least in his mind, symbolized more of a sympathetic bond than anything else, but he realized all too late it could be taken badly. He removed his hand and let out a nervous cough. He hoped he hadn't crossed any lines, since the conversation of sexuality hadn't come up in conversation. Kolya identified as pansexual, but who knew if Jace was straight? That would make things incredibly awkward. He shifted his attention to taking notes as Oliver spoke about the class and what it would entail.
Jace smiled at Kolya when he squeezed his hand not paying attention to the other students. He didnt see anything wrong with it since they were friends When he let out the couch he removed his hand from his shoulder not sure if he had made him uncomfortable. He didnt exactly make any friends back home he only had watched other group of friends interact with each other so he didnt know if he had done something wrong. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked back to the teacher. He pulled out a notebook and took a few notes as Oliver went through the class details.
I reckon that sexualities should come into play when they go to the Tavern/Pub over the weekend. Or at the end of the day since the pub is now finalised and can be built.
Kolya hoped that he hadn't made Jace uncomfortable, but he didn't know how else to explain his tendency to hold someone's hand or anything of that nature. No one in his family, no friends back home, no one else knew he was pansexual. He didn't know if he could tell Jace, let alone anyone else in the group. Sure, they likely wouldn't torment him, but he didn't want to risk it. Holding things in was never a good thing, as it often left his powers to go haywire. Eventually, he would have to come clean, but he didn't know how or when.
Jace spent class taking notes and listening to Oliver. He was starting to struggle a bit with his powers and was hearing voices in his head. He cleared his throat and closed his eyes trying to concentrate and focus. He took a deep breath trying to make it seem natural. He didnt want anyone to notice and that was not helping his situation. "Ill be back" he told Kolya and left the room as though he were going to the bathroom. He tried to avoid the shadows for now and tried to regain control. He was still working on controlling his ability and there were times like this where his control would slip.
Kolya had been taking notes, listening to Oliver talking about the material. It had been two hours, now being noon, and there was an hour left to go. Jace's sudden disappearance hadn't been noticed by Kolya until now, as any question or statement to him was met with a grunt. He blinked when Jace was no longer beside him and looked around. He must have gone to the bathroom, although he hadn't been paying attention. Hope he didn't leave suddenly because of me... he thought to himself.
