Flourish and Blotts has been known to provide all textbook needs of Hogwarts students since its founding. Beyond providing this service, Flourish and Blotts prides itself as the most well stocked bookstore in Diagon Alley. In 2024 Flourish and Blotts was bought by Casey Ryans. She had a number of employees one being Isabelle (Izzy) Clarisse.

Recently, Casey Ryans has given up ownership. Being the store’s shop assistant for some time Isabelle Clarisse decided to take it off Casey’s hands. With Isabelle as the new owner of Flourish and Blotts she hopes to continue to run it the same way it has always been. She and her staff are up to the task to make sure all costumers get the books they seek. And, they are more than willing to order any book that the store currently does not have in stock. Much like Casey Isabelle also provides tutoring services in the staffs specific subjects upon request.

spaceSorin noted that she seemed somewhat hesitant with her expression of gratitude. Shy, then? His sister would be a better judge, but then, she wasn't here now. And wouldn't be, considering how their father would become quite angry with her should she leave his sight for even a second. "You're quite welcome," he assured her. "I couldn't simply walk away and leave you to clean it up yourself. Wouldn't have been proper." Though she was hardly a damsel in distress, his grandmother had always been quite clear; if a girl is in trouble, you help her. Of course, there were exceptions, but this most certainly wasn't one.

spaceHe filed her name away, pleased to know that she was, at least, a pureblood. Or, he assumed she was, since the Meadows family was an old family and all. If he recalled correctly, there were two branches within the family, so to speak, though again, his sister would know better. Celeste was always better at keeping track of that sort of thing. Delphinia must be some sort of flower, he figured, since he was fairly certain the Meadows all named their children after flowers. Which was rather odd, since surely there weren't enough masculine flower names for male offspring. He certainly couldn't think of any. He imagined they had a fair bit of 'so-and-so the fourth' and whatnot as a result. But, he didn't have much room to talk, as he and his sister had been named for the sun and stars. Though, they at least were twins, so having matching names made sense. He offered her a small smile.
"Delphinia is a very lovely name," he told her, "But Finny is quite nice, as well." Truthfully, he thought Finny sounded crass, but he'd never say so. Why didn't she like Delphinia? Perhaps it seemed too old to her, too mature? It sounded mature to him. She didn't seem particularly immature, though.

space... Well, he had only just met her, after all. No matter how good a judge of character you were, you couldn't know what someone was really like the second you got their name. Though, knowing she preferred such an infantalizing nickname did speak a little about her. He wasn't sure if he should pity her or not. Who'd even come up with that nickname in the first place? Surely not her parents.

spaceThe thought was cut short by her rather abrupt explanation of why she was there. He'd been quiet for too long, then. Spent too much time with his thoughts. Celeste and their grandmother always told him he needed to work on that... Of course, it'd never been a problem before, since he rarely if ever met anyone new. That would be changing very rapidly, though. He nodded in response to her question, thinking that another person might find her awkward nervousness cute. Celeste likely would.
"Yes, I'm a first year as well," he said cheerfully. "Which means we'll be classmates. Which is nice, since I don't really know anyone we'll be going to school with. But, I know you now. And my twin sister, but I think she'll like socializing too much to spend much time with me." Truth be told, that was utter nonsense. But, if he was going to network, he ought to really dedicate himself to it. "She's here as well, with our parents. I heard the noise and came to see what happened, but I don't think they noticed. Too wrapped up in their shopping." Lies, again. He'd been on the other side of the store from the rest of his family, briefly escaping the suffocating presence of his father. Gods above, he hated that man. But, you couldn't go around telling people that sort of thing. No one knew, except his sister. She hated him, too.

Finny smiled politely when he told her it wouldn't have been proper to not offer her any help. She thought that more so, it would not have been very kind, and Finny believed that kindness was generally the best policy. But she was very familiar with what was proper and what was not, and so she couldn't really be surprised or take offense to his phrasing. Either way, he had helped her- did it really matter what his specific motives were, so long as the end was positive?

She felt as though perhaps she shouldn't have given him her nickname; like she'd impulsively handed it off to him. Not because she didn't like Sorin; she barely knew him; but because Finny was a special name. Her siblings and Aunt Anthea, her absolute favorite people, called her that. Maybe she should have saved it for when she knew him better. But it was too late now, and to backtrack would be rude. She bit her lip at the thought. Oh, she couldn't afford to overthink everything like this! She'd never make any friends besides Chrys at school like that.

Sorin seemed to visibly brighten, or at least he sounded a bit more chipper, at the mention of the quickly approaching school year. "Having a twin must be fun," Finny ventured- she had no idea what having a twin was like, but she thought it was probably quite nice. She'd love to be Chrys's twin. Then they could have gone off to Hogwarts together. Better yet, if she and Chrys and Sher had all been triplets. "My sister is very outgoing too- she's a third year now." Finny looked a bit less reserved at the mere thought of her older sister. "Chrysanthemum. She's in Gryffindor." Chrys would have been annoyed to be referred to by her full name, but she'd already messed up and told him Finny, and she wasn't about to hand over Chrys to him as well.

"I don't think my father's even noticed that I'm not right behind him," she commented in bemusement. "But he's ah- well, he's very focused on making sure I get all the right things for school, I suppose." Finny wasn't sure how to say 'we don't really speak to each other all that frequently beyond greetings and instructions' in a light, casual manner.

spaceSorin wasn't really sure that having a twin was really 'fun'. He wasn't sure it was anything, other than having a twin. A shared birthday, nothing more. Then again, he understood, at least a little, that his family was not like other families, and perhaps to some other family, having a twin would be fun. Oh, he liked having one, and he loved his sister dearly. But he wasn't sure he'd say it was 'fun' to have her as his twin. Not that he was entirely sure what 'fun' even was, since it was something generally frowned upon by his father. His mother could be more laid-back, but she was a Hufflepuff, she was supposed to be like that. It was why his father had chosen her, and why his grandfather had approved.

spaceStill, he doubted very much if Delphinia (he found it hard to use the nickname, but would endeavor to do so out loud, at least) would understand if he said anything like that, so instead, he nodded in agreement.
"I like having my sister," he said, somewhat dodging around the issue. "I'm never lonely, at least." That much, at least, was true. While they hadn't shared a bedroom in many years, since it wouldn't be appropriate, their rooms were only one apart. They had conspired when they were young to get the House-Elves to rearrange the furniture so that their beds were against the shared wall, and at night they would knock to one another. They had a language for it and everything, a very complex one if he did say so himself. And one that no one else would ever know.

spaceHe noticed the way the girl brightened when she mentioned her own sister, and made note of that as well. Chrysanthemum... the name sounded familiar, now that he thought about it. A Gryffindor, though, how awful. He kept his face from showing his distaste, and found himself hoping for the sake of their family name that the two girls had an older brother Delphinia had yet to mention, or at least a younger one. After all, a Gryffindor female was not something you wanted for an heir. He didn't Gryffindor females were suited for much of anything, really. But of course, he kept that to himself.
"I'm sure it will be nice, having someone to show you around," he noted. "I've been told that getting lost can be an issue, the first few weeks. But an older sibling would surely help prevent that from happening." Sorin, of course, had no such luxury. He had an older sibling, but Celeste was older than him by a few minutes, not months or years, and had not attended before him.

spaceThe boy let out a sympathetic sort of 'hm' when Delphinia spoke of her father's negligence, relating to her all too well on that front. His own father hadn't even realized that he'd not been in the same room as his son, save family dinners, for going on two years now, at least until today. Celeste always attended the lessons meant for her brother, and Father never bothered with either of them otherwise. Well, except when he felt the need to hunt Celeste down and find an excuse to punish her for an imagined misdeed, but then, that was why Sorin didn't like him.
"Celeste will stay close to Father," he said, not bothering to explain why, that she was afraid of the man, "I probably should have as well, but I dislike standing about doing nothing, so I started to wander. But, it's a good thing I did, I think. So I could help you with the books, and all." He flashed her a smile then, sweet and utterly believable, one he'd spent years perfecting. His grandmother said it was dazzling. He didn't much care what it was, so long as people believed it.

Finny nodded when she simply said that with a twin, he was never lonely. She had no idea if Sorin was simply a quiet, reserved person, or holding back because it was how he'd been raised, or if he just wasn't terribly interested in the conversation anyways. But he'd been the one to approach her, and if he hadn't wanted to talk to her any longer than necessary, he could have politely left by now. Which led Finny to the conclusion that despite his few words, he had an interest in keeping the conversation going. Just... maybe not an interest in her as a person. Or maybe she was just being too judgmental. She did have a bad habit of holding everyone up to her own standards. Life wasn't a fairy tale, she reminded herself. Not everyone could be happy and pleasant all the time. That wouldn't make any sense. Besides, she was hardly talking his ear off herself.

Still, she found him very difficult to read, and Finny didn't like that. Chrys and Sher were so easy for her to gauge the moods and thoughts of, because she knew them so well. But she'd have to get used to that, since soon enough she'd be surrounded by strangers, all with varying motivations. Of course, Finny believed most people were good, or at least decent, and even if they didn't go out of their way to help others, didn't really seek to do them any harm either. But the not knowing made her wary. "My sister's the oldest by two years, so she was really upset to leave us when it was time for her to go to Hogwarts," she said thoughtfully. "Her and our brother and I are all very close. I feel badly about leaving my brother behind as well now, but I am excited for school. I've never been away from home like that before."

She blinked a little in disbelief when he just said that it would be nice to have someone to show her around. Well, yes, but she didn't just think of Chrys as her personal tour guide! Maybe she was being a little sensitive about her siblings. She could get like that, being so devoted to them. She it her lip again and studied him intently for a moment, but his expression was entirely neutral, although his tone had been perfectly normal and conversational. Finny had been around other pureblooded children before, albeit rarely, and although many of them were very polite and somewhat aloof, this seemed... he really was just making small talk, as if they were both boring old adults at some business meeting. She felt a little badly for Sorin. Perhaps his parents were terribly strict and had drilled it into him, and he didn't know how else to interact with her.

"Yes," she said brightly, almost combatively brightly. "It will be wonderful. My sister would never let me get lost if she could help it, although she probably would try to get me to sneak off somewhere with her. She loves to explore and do things like that. I do, too... I just don't like getting in trouble for it," Finny smiled. "But I'm sure she'll be really happy to show me all the secret spots and nooks and crannies she's found."

Sorin did sound genuinely empathetic when she mentioned her father, although his comment about his sister staying close to their father was a bit odd. Maybe she was shy, although he'd mentioned her being outgoing before... Then he smiled at her, and it was a very nice, charming smile. Finny smiled back out of habit, but did not show any teeth. He went from stoic to sweet and back again. What an odd boy. Sher was a little similar, in that he could be both very quiet and withdrawn and also very sweet and affectionate, but it was different with him. But she was so emotional and sensitive herself, she questioned her own perception. Finny hesitated, not for the first or last time. "Thank you again for helping me. It was very... I would have been embarrassed if everyone had seen me making such a mess of things." That at least, was true.

SAVANNAH HASTINGS __________

Humming lips and drumming fingers browsed through crowded rows and stacks of books that climbed as high as the ceiling. Book spines, thick and thin and in hundreds of colors, vied for attention with glossy letters and little pictures. The Miscellaneous section had everything you could want: magical theory, autobiographies, history, self-help books, and comics. Vannah had blue eyes set on something particular, something she feared she would never find: inspiration.

The days were blending together; they all looked the same. Every morning had the same ritual, and every afternoon she would speak to the same people, and every night she would sleep on a pile of crumpled paper balls in the potions room of her mum's home. Then it would start again, like clockwork. Like nothing ever changed. She was going no where and fast, and it was only worsened by the fact she still couldn't afford to move out on her own. And not a single one of her experiments ever made it to the testing phase; the potions wouldn't stable. So Savannah broke the chain with a stop at Diagon Alley and had herself a bit of a shopping spree. Odd-ends and knick-knacks were in three different shopping bags, the other two bags were from Slug and Jiggers and had carefully wrapped ingredients to restock her cupboard.

Her arms were full but that didn't stop her from grabbing tomes off the shelves to balance in her arms. First was Spell Potions, by a man named simply 'Tim.' Probably the weirdest thing she's heard all month. Then another book, and another, until four heavy volumes were tucked under her chin in a bit of a balancing act. Behind her, the door opened and closed a handful of times and a small crowd grew. She had to pin herself against the wall—bag, books, and all—to make room for an elderly couple as they passed through the narrow aisle. Then her foot hit the curled edge of a rug and stumbled, dropping all four books and one of her shopping bags spilling dog toys and bagged treats all over the floor. ”Oh ********> Vannah cursed under her breath and sighed. Could this day get any worse?

Heh... what a cuckoolander, still willing to help his mate despite the odds, and Jean really appreciated him for that.

The chaos was still there, but Jean decided to do his job as a Witch Watcher as if nothing was going on with him. It was a bad decision but hey, what can you do? Of course, there were a few people who gave a damn about his situation; Morven seemed to be relieved to know that he dumped the "living Barbie girl". But then again, it's Morven being Morven- so Jean didn't take it personally from her nowadays.

The Scot was buying some of the wizarding graphic novels- skimming the synopsis when he could when he heard a sound of irritating clutter. Jean turned around to see a lass who seemed younger than him, who looked like she came straight from a shopping spree. He set down his book back to the shelf before walking down and helping the lass out. Wow, was she this loaded to buy many of these stuff? Jean can't even do a shopping spree without worrying about his bills, "Looks like someone's got their payday." He joked, then added to soften the joke incase she took it personally, "Um. I'm just joking, by the way... But seriously though."

When you tell me I'm a wreck, you say that I'm a mess-
How could you expect anything less?
You latched onto me then cried that I strung you along.
I told you when you asked, I knew this wouldn't last.
At least I could be honest about that.
And now you're telling everyone how I only did you wrong.
Still I see you standing there, waiting 'round for me to fall.
Girl, you must be crazy, still believing you and me belong.
I guess you never knew me at all!

Fiona was so ready for hogwarts! She wanted to get he books out of the wayfirst. Her and her dad stood out with their bright red hair. Fiona stood out the most with her curly flame like hair was pulled back into a pony tail, even then it was a poofy as always. It bounced along with her as she walked in and around the bookstore. She was wearing clothes quite obviously meant for boys and what skin showed trough her shirt and shorts look like she had been at play not too long a go with the ocassion scuff and band aid. She had her list and really wanted to try to find it all on her own. Her dad had his own books to buy so she would be left to find her own she was browsing for her own copy of standard book of spells grade one. Eventully she spotted a stack of them and went to grab the top copy safely. It be hard as it was taller than she was. She wanted to do it without asking for help.

                      ||WHERE: Flourish and Blotts ||WEARING: Proper Burgundy ||WITH: Fiona; Strangers; Shopkeepers ||FEELING: Desperate yet Curious

Bonnie had enough of her mother already, and it hadn't been more than a mere thirty minutes. The constant badgering about fixing her dress, walking up right, and keeping the chin astute. As if Bonnie doesn't waltz through the crowd. If she followed her mother's orders to the extreme, she would fall straight on her back. The petite brunette didn't even try and fight her eye rolls that were paddling in like waves during a harsh storm. "Stop rollin' your eyes at me! I'm just makin' sure you're lookin' respectable!" Her mother crooned. It was answered with another swirl of her eyes. How she wished her brother were here to take some of this nonsense along with her. She must get away from this helicopter, she needed to make her feel like it was completely necessary for the pair to split up. "Mum, why don't we complete different tasks? I'll go get ma books, you can go look for ma new robes, eh?" She proposed, stopping the pair of them in front of Flourish and Blotts. "The sooner this is done, the sooner we can leave. You can pick what ever robes ya like. After all, ya do 'ave the better taste between us." She fought back the sneer that was urging to push through at that last forced compliment. It was her only hope at some silence and peace. Looking up at her mother with a pleading gaze she awaited her verdict. "Well, I suppose that would be alright. The moment you are done, you 'ead straight to me, you 'ear?" Her mother barked. Bonnie nodded her head vigorously and darted into the shop, leaving her mother in the dust.

Once inside she inhaled deeply and shut her eyes momentarily. The stillness and quietness of the establishment was refreshing. There were a few people scattered about in various sections of the store. However, where she knew she needed to be, there was another young her with unmistakable fire red locks. She was stretching forth in attempts to reach a text that was atop a high stack. The way this girl was presented to the world, was a bit disheveled to say the least. In Bonnie's world, she basically looked homeless. While she knew and understood that was an exaggeration, her mother would instantly have a strop and go all sorts of flushed and huffing. Although, that sort of situation can prove to be a bit risky and she would rather not have to witness the secondhand embarrassment if this girl toppled the tower. With perfectly tamed mane flowing behind her, she made a slightly quicker walk up to where the stranger was. "You need some 'elp? Looks a bit precarious don' ya fink?" Bonnie stabilized the stack at two points with either hand. A small smirk played at her round lips. Her eyes seemed to dart around every so often to different places; be it the books, the floor, and then different sections of the person's appearance. She took note of all the random scars and scuffs, some covered with a band aid and some not. Her clothing was slightly dirty, slightly big on her, and not stereotypical for her apparent gender. Bonnie felt a tinge of her judgement peek through, the small part that she got from her mother that she often tries to hide. Stopping herself some seeming rude she made another comment. "Do ya 'ave the rest of your books? Or should I tag along just in case?" She quipped with an airy chuckle.

Fiona stopped reaching for a moment when she heard another girl offering some assistance. "Oh definitely, stablisise it so I can grab it." She replied. She could reach the second from the top bookso she carefully geabed both and passed one to her helper. With book in hand she was ready to find the others. The girl asked if she could join. Oh why not a companion can be fun. "Well if your getting first year books then you should totally join me." Fiona said clutching her book. "Otherwise it would seem silly." She did hope the girl was in her school year. If so then mabye they could be housemates.

Proving successful in their endeavor, the fire haired witch grabbed two copies of the first year books that the pair of them needed. Bonnie gratuitously received one of the texts and filed it under her left arm. Upon hearing an acceptance to some company on this shopping spree, the prissy petite smiled fondly and gave a lighthearted giggle paired with a small hum. "It would, wouldn' it?" Bonnie agreed with a tilt of her head, allowing her silk strands to fall to one side. While yes, she was backtracking slightly when it came to the fact of just previously being rid of her mother's company, only to replace it with another. Although, in this situation, anything would be more enjoyable than having Botox Barbie play dress up with five identical black robes. Bonnie would much rather meet someone new and within her age range to explore and converse with. "Not surprisingleh, I'ma first year as well. Seems fittin' to pair up an' make this gruelin' task a bit more fun." She explained with a playful roll of her green eyes. Reaching into her bag, she fetched the list that was filled with their necessities for the upcoming year. Scrolling through, she followed her mind with her finger and skipped to wear the books were listed. Mentally checking off the currently equipped novel, she peaked her eyes back up at the ginger girl. In a flash, she came to realize that no introductions have been made yet.

Extending a dainty, well manicured hand, she went to greet her properly.
"I'm Bonneh, by the way. Seems right to at least know who's name ta shout if we get split up." She joked dryly. In all truth, that may happen. Bonnie tends to venture off on her own in some cases if she feels it will make the situation better. Don't get her wrong, she isn't antisocial or rude, she just understands that she works better on her own in most cases. For this current predicament, she can see the good reasons that come with making a connection with a classmate now, rather than trying to form an acquaintance during lessons. "What's your name?" She questioned simply, awaiting the girl's reciprocation.

Fiona chuckled a bit at the girls reply. Fiona was happy the girl wanted to join her and glad she was also a fellow first year. Maybe they would be in the same house? They had located the one thousand magical herbs and fungi book they needed when the girl brought up a most important topic they had missed, names. The girl introduced herself as Bonnie. "Well Bonnie I'm Fiona, but call me Fi for short if you want, I'll respond to both." Fiona replied as she passed the plant book to Bonnie before grabbing her own copy. Gee hopefully these where the heaviest cause it would soon become a problem if the books got too heavy. Prehaps her dad could help when it got to that point.

Hikaru was in one of his most favorite places to be, the bookstore. He had decicated today to school books so he could also pick up some new book for leisure reading. He had located and purchased the books for his core and elective classes. Now he was currently checking out potions books. He knew he needed to start now if he had any hope of passing his potions OWLs next year. Potions was not his strong suit. Just something about it made it so difficult for him. He had gotten good enough that he wasn't melting a cauldron every semester so that was a bonus. He was currently reading the back of a book claiming it helps bad potioner skills.
