The bells of the town hall rang out the ten o'clock hour, as you woke from your slumber. That was when you noticed a letter laid on the floor by the door. Though, you didn't see who passed it off, you knew who it came from. Meet me at Noon, Office, Lunch is on me. Tom
A bitting cold wind blew a crossed your face, as you opened the outer door, carrying with it smells of grilled fish and baking bread christened the air; A fresh reminder of the winter season cover the streets, a slurry of snow and muddy water covered the streets, with more snow falling from the sky. Thous was the start of a new day in Bridgepuddle... (You can go any where you like, we will continue when you say your ready.)

Scratching his rusted-copper scales, the kobold known as Morenth busied himself with doing his best to wake up some more. This was a rather nice life, with people not trying to cut or stab him all the time. Who'd thought one of his origin could be in such a position?
Frowning as he picked up his coin pouch, he was rather glad the note had shown up. Much longer and he'd had to resort to using less than lawful methods just to stay fed. Oh well, not much time to think on it. Heading out, he'd head down to the tavern to get a bit of cheese and some coffee. After his normal late nights, he had to have something to help him wake up.

Stre-e-e-etching as she sat up in bed, Acorn smacked her lips and studied the bright window with half-closed eyes. Was it this late already?
Being a night wolf (or a 'night owl' as the humans incorrectly called it), she was not a morning girl, and those bells were always a pain. Her ears flicked in annoyance. In more ways than one...
Scratching her posterior as she walked towards the cupboard, she almost slipped and fell as she stepped on a letter. Catching herself on the door in a half-fallen state, she sighed in relief. Gripping the culprit with her toes, she craned her leg so she could read it.
"Meet me at moon. Office. Lunch is on me. Tom." she muttered to herself. "Moon?? Is that s'posed to be a bad joke?! Why, I oughta..." She growled. Rereading the letter one last time, her eyes narrowed. "OH! Noon! I get it now!" Acorn barked in laughter, though doing so caused her to lose her tenuous grip on her semi-prone state, and fell to the floor completely now, yanking her door open and whacking herself in her back with it.
"..... Oww. That smarts..."
--------------------
As noon came around, and a few minutes after the bells would sound (Acorn was seldom punctual), she would enter through the door and bellowed aloud, without regards to decorum, "TOM! Feed me!"

As the morning wore on, Seraphina tossed and turned in her bed. Her movements became more frantic as whimpers and growls escaped from her mouth. Suddenly, when a loud bang echoed in from Acorn's room across the way, she lept from her bed with a loud rrrrip!. Hissing viciously, Seraphina now stood in her room with fangs bared and claws at the ready, However, she found her only opponent to be a small note on the floor. She looked down at her bed sheet, which now bore a fresh tear. The several others stitched closed on the blanket made it clear that this was not an unusual occurrence. Seraphina let out a sigh and picked up the note from the floor. It was written in Common, so it took her a moment to read it but the message was simple enough. What's more, it meant she could sleep in 'til noon and, with the late night of hunting she'd had, she could use it. She'd gorged last night on her prey so she wasn't hungry yet, and the money she'd got from the pelt had made a nice jingle in her pocket. With a yawn Seraphina crawled back into bed, vowing to mend her sheet later.

Duren may have not been in the military anymore, but the practices that were trained into him had become old habits a long time ago. Even now, he still got up bright and early and spent the morning working out to keep his body limber and strong. The morning was bright, but far from unwelcome, and the dwarf seemed to be enjoying his morning routine...until something was slid under his door. That something turned out to be a letter informing him of a job for the day. "Ahh, finally. I was looking to get back into the swing of things," he said. After taking some time to clean up, Duren donned his armor, slung his hammer at his waist, and his shield on his back. Looking at the sun, it was getting close to noon, so the dwarf finished any last minute preparations and then went down to meet with his boss. Much to his surprise, soon after sitting down in the office, the beast girl he'd seen around lately barged in, howling to be fed. The dwarf rolled his eyes a bit and sighed. So noisy...

Old Tom sat patiently behind his desk, reading a book titled 'Innocent Blood' and sipping a cup of warm tea. He would look up only to acknowledge Duren as he entered, with a smile and a nod. And a chuckle, when Acorn entered. With his free hand, he would gesture to the open door that would lead to his kitchen, where she would find a whole table of grilled fish, fried cornbread balls, jam, bread rolls, and butter pie. Along with a stack of various citrus fruits with a small cask of apple wine and another of mead, finally a tea kettle on the wood stove. "The plates are in the cabinet closest to the door. Help yourself; same to you Duren, if that is your wish. We will start when the others arrive"

With disappointment in her eyes, she would spot Duren. "... oh." Turning to Tom, she would pout. "I didn't realize I'd have to share..."
Hanging her head in defeat dramatically, she would close the door behind her. "You can't toy with a girl's heart like this, Tom. It just isn't right."
Carrying on her performance, she would drag her feet as she slowly marched towards the kitchen, as if she were walking to her own execution, an air of hopelessness about her.

After sleeping away the entire morning, Seraphina groggily enters Tom's office. She lets out a low, long yawn, baring her fangs. After wiping her eyes she looks around to see most of the other newbloods had been summoned as well, which meant this must be more than a simple courier job. Due to her secretive nature, she knew very little about the others, other than that the dog-like one was quite loud. At least so far they had asked few questions about her appearance and even fewer about her past. The fact that they got to see her not completely covered was a rare treat only afforded to those under Tom's employment. Right now she was wearing very little, despite the cold weather. However, if she had known there were going to be so many people here, she might had donned her covering cloak. Well, it was too late now. Seraphina made her way to the kitchen and came out with a rather large plate of food, stacked more heavily with fish than any other foodstuff. She would sit in a corner and begin to chow down on her first meal of the day. Her tail occasionally would swish back and forth, the only sign of her enjoying her meal. She would pause only momentarily to ask in heavily accented Common, "What's the job?"

Morenth would attempt to slink inside between Acorn's performance and Seraphina showing up. During such, he'd get himself some tea and just slip into an out of the way spot while he waited on Tom to call things to order or someone to spot him.

Duren had to stifle a chuckle at the beast girl's reaction to seeing him and to the meal not being a feast all for her. The more mysterious of the women showed up as well, and the dwarf got to witness one of the few rare times she could be clearly seen. Duren did have to admit that she was certainly pleasing on the eyes, but the beast girl was....slightly more to his tastes. He finally got to his feet and headed in to the kitchen to get himself a plate of food, taking a little bit of each thing but making sure the plate was not overloaded. With plate in hand, he rejoined the conversation that was waiting.

"I can, I have, and I likely will continue to do so; Miss Acorn." Tom said as he set his book down and turn to face her, "Though, if you are feeling in the sharing mood, I you can walk the left overs to the orphanage. After the meeting, of course. I am sure the children will love your performance" His was stern... but quickly faded to a small laugh.
Olwyn Thompson, or Old Tom to many around town, was a young 40 year human. Save for a knee brace and cane, he was a picture of good health for a old guard captain and adventurer.
With the entrance of Morenth, though he didn't make any motion or mention of such, Tom continued with the meeting. "What is shared here is told to no one else today, Understood?"
"Four days ago, a goblin party dug into the catacombs and injured two before being dispatched by the town guard. The incident has been blamed on the Bridgepuddle's own thieves guild and brushed under the rug. The town guard can't look into the matter without drawing attention to it, so we have been contracted to analyze the incident and eliminate any threat that still may remain. Any questions?"

Well, this was interesting. From a professional standpoint, he was insulted that they thought any thief worth his salt would do such a thing. Also, it would have likely been a more varied operation than just a party of goblins. Of course he wouldn't outright speak of such things.
Shifting, he'd speak with a soft voice. "Are there any cave systems nearby that are known? It sounds more like a group of goblins may have been expanding their living quarters. Or there is some that now live in the sewers. Either way, whatever tunnel they may have dug to the hole would be rather cramped for many. I suggest that I take some time to see what I can find before those less suited for such a task move through. If you have anything that doesn't need a wide swing to use, that would also be wise to bring. Or something small, like a dagger."

Seraphina's ears would twitch as the scamp spoke up. She hadn't noticed the kolbold enter, but she chalked it up to being focused on her meal. The grilled fish was quite good. It must have been caught quite recently. She would feel more kinship towards the Bloodscale, if it wasn't for his skulking nature. For one who was supposed to have the blood of dragons, his behavior certainly didn't show it... but then he was quite small. There was no way for him to match the physical might of the larger races, so perhaps that judgment was a bit harsh. It was quite brave for him to volunteer to go in by himself, if a bit foolish, at least in her eyes. Seraphina would set her empty plate down on the hard floor with a clatter then chuckle softly to herself. "I might not be as light on my feet as you, Bloodscale, but I know how to get about unnoticed. If one was fit for the job, I don't think Tom would have brought us all here. We should all go. If you want to scout ahead once there that's fine. Just stay close enough for us to hear your screaming... you know... if trouble arises."

By the end of the recap, Acorn would be sitting in a chair facing the back, one arm resting on the top. She had a skewer with a grilled fish in her other, and chewed on it thoughtfully.
At the request for questions, she would raise her hand sharply into the air.
"Do we know for certain that they're goblins? Not kobolds in disguise? I hear kobolds can be pretty sneaky. Digging into catacooms sounds like something kobolds would do."
Turning to Morenth, she would then grin ear to ear at him mischievously.

"I did not mean to insinuate that any of you could not move lightly. I merely meant that tunnels dug by goblins are normally smaller in size than those meant for your heights." Morenth turned to regard Acorn, frowning. "I am assuming that the goblins were killed, thus able to be correctly identified as such. Also, you want it to be goblins. While I could speak with kobolds and maybe gain information with less chance of hostilities, if we had to... deal with a clan that was going to be a threat, then we would have to go through their works. And while I would normally relish the challenge of testing their wits with my own, by way of traps, even I may miss some of the more well hidden ones."
