Vikings: Legacy of the Chosen
There are many who no longer believe in the gods. Those who do believe are starting to lose faith. In an old world, with an even older land, the people grow weary of the war and the chaos. Elleria has grown ripe with blood. Fields of dead pile up, seas of body litter the ground, and every where you look, there is sadness in every eye. Hardship and loss has come and everyone is taking a load. No one is without a little darkness in their hearts.
War has torn Elleria into pieces. An old god who was long forgotten has been awoken by the greed of the many. The blood has seeped through the ground and angered the god. An army of shadow beings has plagued the entire nation of Elleria, causing further despair. There is no hope. Once proud kingdoms have fallen, entire races wiped from existence.
But there are still those who defy this god. There are still those who believe in a better Elleria. In the pages, these few were known as the Chosen. The Vikings Legacy begins in this chapter. From all corners of Elleria, they band together to fight as one, raise an army, build a kingdom, fight off the misery and pain that has overtaken Elleria and thrown it into the abyss.
These Vikings, as they are called, have powers beyond what any regular mortal should have. Even within Elleria, where there are creatures still not yet known. These beings themselves could be considered gods. So listen closely. The tale begins now.

HILGRED ⊙ GARROW
To be of use, that is my purpose.
▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
Darkness swallowed the forest, only a bright blue glow which hung over a damaged temple could be seen. A demanding voice called out "Go." it cried and with that Hilgred's light brown eyes snapped open. Seeing that the sun hadn't risen yet the young shield maiden growled in annoyance. "Yes yes, I'm already going." She grumbled as she rose from her slumber. Looking about her small campsite near the main path the young woman set about collecting her things and destroying her mediocre campfire. Once her armor was back in place and she felt ready, after a few stretches, she began walking back to the main path.
Once on the path Hilgred took a deep breath and waited for the pull towards to correct direction to find the temple. Once she felt the pull she easily continued her journey. Pulling out some dried meat from her pack Hilgred ate lazily while she walked on continuing her journey. While she remained mostly silent she pondered the dream. 'What do the Gods have in store for me now?' she questioned as she thought on the dream. Her thoughts were interrupted by the yellow glow that was slowly growing over the world. Happy for the light the shield maiden continued on. To anyone coming upon her they might be shocked, seeing a short woman covered in armor with a shield strapped to her back, along with a spear. An axe and sword at her right hip, a quiver of arrows on the other side with a bow unstrung inside. All along with a pack containing her essentials. To most she would appear over burdened. But in truth she was perfectly fine with the weight, even comforted by it.
When she came to the White forest she hesitantly walked forward with only minor trepidation. At the sudden change Hilgred gripped her axe in preparation. After taking a steadying breath she realized there was no immediate threat. Watching the forest closely she slowly made her way further into the forest, finding the temple easily enough. "Gloemoss. Should have known." Hilgred shook her head and easily took a good amount for future use. When she finally decided to walk into the temple Hilgred froze seeing another person as well. She smiled but remained at the entrance, keeping a good distance. "Greetings." She said in her usual rather calm voice as she waited to see what his next move would be.

Darren Lightshield
▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ♋ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
Wiping some grime from his boots, he took a look around while he waited on whatever it was he was supposed to be here for. He looked inside the rooms that were open to him. In one room, he found it was a worship center. The druids must have come here to the Elder to gain wisdom and knowledge. There was a pier at the end of the room on a dais, raising it higher so the person could be seen. There were several benches lined up on the left and right side of the room, leaving the middle open for a walkway. The next room he found was a supply room. Most of the food was tampered with, being old. Most of the mice and other scavengers had already gotten to it. He was able to collect some dried herbs and grass for salves and poultices though. Not much to the next few rooms. He found two bedrooms and the other rooms had been collapsed in on.
He walked back out into the main hall and stopped. Standing at the entrance was a fairly short female. She barely reached above his waist in height. He put a hand to the book on his belt and kept his other hand down at his side. He was ready to defend himself at a moments notice. Her voice was light, high pitched but sweet, not shrill or grinding. He gave her a light bow of the head, in respect to her greetings. She could still be an enemy, but if she was, most enemies would of preferred a surprise attack. She had made herself known to him, giving her his respect for the moment. "Good morrow. I am Darren. Are you the one who summoned me here?" His voice was deep, rich, and smooth. His tone confident and his words reverberated. He was not one who could easily be ignored with his booming voice.

Rune Masters The day started like any other day for Rune...an all night drinking fest at the local tavern, however, this morning was different. "Get out of here you worthless good for nothing...!" the owner of the tavern shouted as Rune was quickly chased out of the tavern. "Oi! C'mon now, how can you do this to your best customer?" Rune asked as he went back on his own two feet. "I've been a little passive about you feeling up the waitresses and other female customers, but I will not allow this to happen anymore! You are banned from this tavern!" the owner again shouted at him.
"Don't you think that's going a little too far? I couldn't help it! She just had a nice pair of-" Before Rune could finish he was hit with a rock to the face, which quickly shut him up. A little bit of blood was showing and he let out a sigh. "Alright then. I don't care. This tavern wasn't that great anyway." Rune said as he turned around and started walking.
"Way to go Rune. You sure told him." A voice called out to him. Rune looked down to the mask that was chained around his neck and let out a scoff. "Shut up Faust. I don't want to hear your sass. Especially since..." Rune stopped as he looked towards the forest, giving it a wondrous gaze. "Rune? What's wrong?" Faust asked, wondering what was wrong. "I can't explain it, but something is drawing me towards there...might as well see what it is." Rune said as he made his way deep into the forest.
An hour later, he came upon a temple. Curious, he walked inside, only to find three more bodies inside. He noticed a couple females which caused a large grin to creep up onto his face. "Rune...behave." Faust ordered him in a stern voice. Rune's grin turned to a smile and he shrugged. "It's okay Faust. You know I don't get into much trouble with females." Rune said with with confidence, which cause Faust to let out a deep sigh.

HILGRED ⊙ GARROW

▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀
The short woman took note of his booming voice, yet it was not a cruel or angry one. Simply a voice that came from one who knew himself and held a confidence in himself. Hilgred had bowed her head as well in response to the mans greeting. "Good morrow, I am called Hilgred." She stated before taking a few steps towards the man. "It was not I sir. Although it seems then we have both been summoned her for some unseen reason." She finished thoughtfully, wondering if Hiln had been the one to call to her. Looking about the temple she noted the Druid's gods hanging about.
Hilgred made sure to survey the area, she didn't see too much but then again she was not trained in the old Druid gods ways and temples. As such she understood little of the temple. 'I've been called here for a reason, trust the Gods for they weave our fates.' She thought to herself and decided to simply accept her situation rather than make sense of it. Sense would be given to her at a later time, it always was.
However at the entrance of two other beings Hilgred pulled herself from her musings. She noted the glowing eyes hiding in the dark, and was about to call attention to this until the young man waltzed in, he held a dark aura that easily put Hilgred on edge. Not to mention with his talking to someone else that she could not see, that didn't help either. "And what trouble are you going to get in pray tell?" She asked turning her attention to the new male and narrowing her eyes a fraction at him. She's met plenty of men that needed to be reminded to not get into trouble with females. Being at Hiln's call she was sworn to protect others from all sorts of things.

Kyma Korvess
Kyma scurried along the wall, using an arch to get to a crumbling support pillar to be able to see each of the players on this little stage. The most predominate one, the one who's massive seven foot frame dominated the room. He was dressed sharply, the glowing blue moss reflecting off his pants and hammer, giving him an almost ephemeral look. The hammer was an intimidating sight, one part for its shear size another for the massive strength it eluded to him having in order to wield it.
The one who introduced herself as Hilgred stood tall, clearly a proud warrior, her armor glistened in the sunlight. Her silver hair catching the sun, Kyma could have sworn that she had a halo around her. Not only did her armor and body language hint at her being a seasoned warrior, she was armed to the teeth. Just from a glance she counted four weapons. She assumed that this woman had to have come from some well off royal family.
The newest appearance struck her as a more...predatory person. He was dressed sharply and unarmed, which struck her as odd. He wasn't as tall as the first man, but he had a strange confidence about him. It seemed to her that he was one of those men that felt entitled to all things this world had to offer.
She clung tight to the pillar, hoping to not slide, or make any noise. They all seemed to be human and she worried that they would react to her the way her elders back at the village had warned her how humans reacted to her people.

Darren Lightshield
▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄ ♋ ▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄
The sun slowly rose ever higher in the sky, casting light through the cracks and holes in the temple walls and ceilings. The shadows began to lift where the light touched. Darren became aware of two more people who had shown. One was a man who looked to be in his twenties. He was pretty average in height. He seemed to have a mischievous smile and a playful nature from the way he carried himself. But he was confident as well. That much you could tell from the ego leaking from his voice. Hilgred, who had just introduced herself, was now confronting the man. But that was not what drew his attention. Up in the corner of the wall there was a large creature. At first he mistook the creature for a giant spider, his hand shifting to the large weapon on his back. But as his eyes adjusted to the light he noticed the female torso on top of the arachnid body. Darren had read about her kind before, they were known as Dryder. He dropped his hand to his side, letting her know she was not a threat to him.
He walked up next to Hilgred, making her look more like a dwarf than a human. "Greetings and good morrow to both our newcomers. It would seem we have all been summoned here." He looked straight up into the corner from there, letting everyone, as well as Kyma know she was seen. "Do not fret yourself Dryder. No one here is an enemy of yours." He was not sure if she would be shocked by his knowledge of her. But his temple held many ancient books. Odin had granted him much knowledge and power when he was appointed as his champion. "I do not know why we were summoned here. But it seems some of the gods have become restless. I believe names are in order." He gave them all a bow. His hand over his chest, he bowed. This gave them the respect they deserved before they had shown a reason to not have it. "I am Darren Lightshield, from the house of Odin."
