I have seen it twice, first with an anime-obsessed, good friend of mine and then with my left-wing fiance. Both times I was amazed at how deeply I was moved by the movie. My friend and I discussed the hero and his motivations and compared him with the Phantom from Andrew Lloyd Webber's rendition (brought about by the review I read on MSN.com *Spoiler warning*). My fiance and I discussed government and the role of the people under it, actually having an amicable conversation about politics (usually difficult due my Republican status versus my fiance's strong Democratic views). So I'd like to discuss it still. A lot. I hope at least a few people will get in on this so we can dissect every element of this movie.

About the.. What?
I've seen it twice, I adore it. It's quotable, thought-provoking, action-filled, and just plain awesome. As soon as I can I'm finding the comic, and devouring it!

Agacer Rire About the.. What? I've seen it twice, I adore it. It's quotable, thought-provoking, action-filled, and just plain awesome. As soon as I can I'm finding the comic, and devouring it! After I saw the movie I found and downloaded the comic. It's definately a book to buy once you can find it in stores. The book and the movie are fundamentally different in a variety of ways. For one thing the movie deals a lot more with current-day issues and dilemmas, such as the quest for political freedom, governments staging catastrophies to boost their own strength, and so on. Since the original comic was made during the era of Margaret Thatcher there were obviously some major differences. I was pleased that the movie kept the core of the comic's storyline, but the changes they made I did like for the most part. Admittedly it did seem like the Wachowskis were literally drilling the political message into your mind, and there were many a moment that would have made Alan Moore groan (as if hearing about the movie in the first place didn't already), but overall it was one of the better comic book movies made. I enjoy both comic and movie and wholeheartedly recommend both to whoever is interested. Apparently Wachowskis are going to tackle The Watchmen next. This makes me worried. How the hell are they going to condense one of The Greatest Comics Ever, which was 12 issues of pure ******** amazing, into a 2-and-a-half hour blockbuster? I can already hear Moore screaming with pain and rage, and something deep inside my bones and soul is joining him.

I'm not familiar with V for Vendetta. I haven't read the comic or seen the movie, but I have heard good things about the movie. I am familiar with the Watchmen. I have the graphic novel and I have to agree, it's an excellent comic and that's an understatement. I too am a bit worried about any atempt to make it into a movie and I wasn't really too thrilled with the last two Matrix movies so . . . eh, Wachowskis . . .
Gosh, I don't know. Just because something is made into a movie it doesn't make the film version the definative version of the story does it? Sometimes I worry that my kids will never read The Lord of the Rings because they "saw the movies". When that day comes can I go slap Peter Jackson? xd Meh, I suppose that's much less likely when it comes to comics though.
Anyways I guess I'll end my ramblings here.

For me, V for Vendetta was a redeeming factor for the Wachowski brothers. It was well done, and even if it wasn't totally accurate to the comic, it was still damn good. I thought the modernization was a good call, and made the movie have a much bigger impact and message than if they had left it criticizing Margret Thatcher. In celebration of the film, you can use this to make your very own Guy Fawkes mask! http://www.deviantart.com/view/31221589/Note: this isn't mine, it was made by a member of another online community, http://entervoid.com

That movie was awesome. I thought the plot was beautifully intracate, and while I could see where it was going, that means it was an excellent movie, following all the proper ins and outs of a "good movie." My husband and I will be owning this movie, kinda like we will be owning Pirates of the Carribean... I can't wait to see the second one of those! pirate

I forget where though. Oh, and for all y'all: http://www.youtube.com/results?search=alan+moore+culture&search_type=search_videos An exclusive interview with Alan Moore in six parts, where he has some choice words about the movie industry and his thoughts on his books being made into films. It's an excellent look into his mind and his influences. Definately worth a look.

When my boyfriend first told me that we were going to see this movie I felt as if I were being taken to another overly action packed movie with no plot. As the movie played I was shocked to find that it had many interesting view points. V is an awful lot like my boyfriend. Both speak as if they were reading from a book. Both have an understanding of life that is startling. I don't like watching movies twice but I think I'll see this one again.
