Rain Yupa
A rough timeline I'm working with, based on actual metaplot.

  • Kitsuki Iweko became Daimyo of the Kitsuki family in 1167.
  • Kitsuki Iweko won the Celestial Tournament in 1170, ascending to the position of Divine Empress, beginning a new royal family and the Iweko dynasty.
  • Iweko married Akodo Setai in 1171.
  • The Destroyer War lasts from 1171-1173, ending with the death of Fu Leng and Kali-Ma, and Daigotsu ascends to the position of Master of Jigoku. The Spider Clan becomes a Great Clan.
  • ~1175, Iweko Seiken, son and first child of Iweko, is born.
  • ~1178, Iweko Shibatsu, son and second child of Iweko, is born. He is fostered to the Spider Clan, as part of an arrangement.
  • ~1181, Iweko Miaka, daughter and third child of Iweko, is born.
  • ~1197, Iweko Miaka is married off into a Great Clan, losing her status as Imperial Princess.
  • 1198, Iweko Shibatsu returns to the Imperial City.
  • 1199, Iweko I goes into seclusion to contemplate which of her sons will be her heir.

  • 1200 - The Divine Empress Iweko I, after remaining in seclusion to reflect on the decision, elects her elder son, Iweko Seiken, to become the imperial heir to the throne.
  • 1200 - Iweko Shibatsu, Iweko's younger son, publicly supports the decision, praising its wisdom. Meanwhile, Shibatsu's staunchest supporters amongst the great clans, primarily within the Spider, begin to admit their displeasure with the decision.
  • 1201 - Seiken is visited and blessed by the Oracles of Light. He meets privately with the Oracle of Void prior to their departure from Toshi Ranbo.
  • 1201 - Civil unrest grows amongst the Great Clans, especially after the announcement that Iweko I's health has begun to fail. The progessive-minded clans (Spider, Unicorn, Mantis, Crane) begin to meet, drawing concerns from the rest of the traditional-minded clans.
  • 1202 - After the completion of winter court, a massive protest is held throughout the imperial colonies, jointly run by the progressive clans. While tempers flare, it ultimately remains peaceful. The goal is to pressure Iweko into reconsidering her proclamation.
  • 1202 - While visiting the colonies, Iweko Shibatsu speaks out against the protests, remaining steadfast that his mother's decision was the correct one. However, they continue.
  • 1202 - A large military force of combined traditionalist clans arrives in the colonies to end the protests and restore order. Iweko Seiken is at the head of the army, to the shock of samurai in the colonies and within the empire.
  • 1202 - A massive battle takes place in the Second City, though Seiken's army achieved victory without much difficulty. Rumors spread on all fronts about who attacked first, or if the protestors attacked at all. Reactions vary from approval to outrage based on the attack. Shibatsu condemns his brother's actions, while Seiken offers no statement. He eventually returns home with his army upon imperial decree, leaving the colonies devastated.
  • 1203 - Skirmishes between Great Clans spark up, between progressive and traditional clans. Seiken seems to grow more unforgiving to those speaking out against him, often encouraging battle. Iweko's health continues to diminish, and her commands aren't enough to hold back the tides of war.
  • 1205 - Shibatsu leads his progressive coalition forces for the first time, engaging his brother's armies in a combined effort to stop the bloodshed. A massive battle takes place, with heavy casualties on both sides. This is known as the Battle of Emerald Tears.
  • 1205 - Shibatsu and Seiken seek to end the hostilities via iaijutsu duel. Seiken levies the accusation that his brother had been manipulating events to steal the throne for himself, while Shibatsu declares his brother paranoid and mad. The terms of the duel was that the loser was to relinquish all rights to the throne. The next morning, the two brothers duel to first blood, which results in a kharmic strike. Shibatsu stands down, but Seiken attacks, attempting to end Shibatsu's life. Shibatsu defends himself, and after battling, slays Seiken in self defense. He declares all hostilities to be over and for the gathered forces to stand down and return to their lands.
  • 1205 - Before word could reach Toshi Ranbo, Iweko I is found dead, said of a broken heart.
  • 1205 - Iweko Shibatsu is proclaimed Emperor of Rokugan, and Iweko II.
  • 1206 - Kitsuki Haruka is born.
  • 1209 - Iweko II takes a bride from the Phoenix Clan.
  • 1211 - Iweko Kawashi is born.
  • 1223 - Kitsuki Himura dies.
  • 1225 - Kitsuki Haruka creates a stir in the imperial winter court, impressing Iweko II. She approaches him and boldly calls in the favor her father earned from the late empress, impressing him further, though earning the ire of many samurai. He grants her request of honoring her father, bestowing upon her the Himura family name, and Minor Clan status.
  • 1226 - A dispute rises between Himura Haruka and Yoritomo Karasuma. An island off the coast of the Colonies was laid claim by the new minor clan, while the Mantis captain disputed the claim, as they had been using the island for years and fell into Mantis purview. Karasuma was the son of Yoritomo Sato, whom Himura had bested in a duel on then-princess Miaka's behalf years ago. As such, Haruka called the legitimacy of Karasuma's claim into question. It was settled with a duel, which Haruka had won. Karasuma withdrew his claim, and the island, dubbed Megumi Tenpi, was settled by the minor clan.
  • 1226 - The Himura family take the clan name of Kraken, on behalf of the Akkorokamui that inhabits local waters but gives them no trouble, unlike fishermen from other clans.
  • 1227 - The rare delicacy of the fugu fish of Megumi Tenpi waters is discovered, earning the praise of even Iweko II, who charges the minor clan with harvesting the fish and supplying the imperial capital with them.
  • 1248 - After a peaceful but prosperous reign, Iweko II passes. Iweko Kawashi becomes Iweko III.
  • 1249 - Iweko III dismisses the Kraken Clan's duty of supplying the imperial capital with their locally-renowned delicacy. They are free to continue to supply it to those who wish to purchase it, but the number of buyers lessen in response to learning of the new Emperor's distaste for it. The Kraken Clan's short-lived prosperity begins to dwindle rapidly.
  • 1250 - Himura Haruka attends her first imperial winter court in many years, and her first such court in the empire. She charges her daughter with heading a small delegation at a nearby winter court, in Kyuden Doji. It is one that is known to be more friendly and forgiving to minor clan samurai, while Haruka attends court with only her yojimbo at the nearby Kyuden Otomo.
