The oversized moth fluttered in place while her trainer spoke, taking in her surroundings. She turned slowly, scanning the room until her eyes fell upon Jetta--or at least seemed to. The Volcarona's strange eyes made it difficult to tell what she was actually looking at, without having her entire body pivoted in the same direction. Kraven herself was still looking over the walls for the kind of riding gear she'd need for her method of transport before the clerk confirmed her suspicions. "Well I'll be getting plenty acquainted with it soon. With any luck this won't have to be a permanent solution."

When the towering man began to approach Mothra turned briefly to her trainer, as if to confirm with her. By the time he was close enough to put his tape measure against the moth's downy coat she'd slowed her wing beats enough to settle slowly on the ground, hopefully easing the process. "I can probably shoot for something a little higher than the base, if it'll make much of a difference," the musician spoke up, listening to the clerk's suggestion. Her expression soured slightly at the mention of those "accidents" she'd been trying to put out of her mind, but pushed it back with a shake of her head. "Right, right. I'll have to trust your judgement for this then."

With that, they seemed to paint a clear enough picture for their needs, and with a quiet nod Kraven watched as the man disappeared on his way into the back of the store. She felt little desire to follow him on the trip, not exactly helped by that smell of fresh tanning seemingly radiating from deeper in. She couldn't help but let out a breath when she was sure he was gone, drifting over to one of the nearby walls with more traditional saddles on display. "Certainly could've done without the reminder of faulty equipment," she chuckled, turning her head back towards Phoenix. "At this rate maybe I should look into getting one of those Psychics that can warp you to places. A part of me is starting to think getting stuck halfway between a wall isn't such a bad risk compared to slipping from a saddle."

☆ ☆【 Tuning out the noise of the conversation between the two trainers and the clerk, Jetta’s eyes were focused on the beautiful looking moth Pokemon next to her with all the curiosity of a young puppy. The Aerodactyl shifted about where she stood, trying to get a good look at the Volcarona from different angles as she took in its huge orange wings flecked with dark spots and the thick-looking coat covering its upper body. It was incredibly tempting to pet the downy fur to feel if it actually was as soft as it looked, but Jetta shoved the urge to the back of her head in favor of settling herself down on her haunches to wait until it was time to leave. When she noticed the Volcarona now looking her way the Aerodactyl stared back, head cocked to the side as her spade-tipped tail lightly drummed against the floor. ”Friend…?”

All the while, Phoenix lingered in the background as she listened to Kraven and the clerk discussing what options would fit best for the musician’s needs, humming at the mention that this hopefully wouldn’t have to necessarily be a permanent solution. ”Right, right, well there’s definitely plenty more options out there if yer lookin’ for somethin’ a bit more suited to yer preference, just gotta know where t’ look is all.” The tall man nodded sagely, patiently waiting for Mothra to confirm with her trainer and settle down into a better position before carefully wrapping his tape measure around her, taking a moment to look over the measurements while they continued to converse. He quirked an eyebrow slightly at Kraven’s suggestion of buying something a bit more expensive than the simple base model, but otherwise simply nodded. ”Sure, missy. Ain’t nothin’ wrong with that.” Phoenix nodded as she listened to the clerk’s suggestion, the man stepping back after unwinding the tape measure from around Mothra while he continued to explain. The redhead’s face paled a little at the mention of ‘accidents’, shooting a sympathetic glance to Kraven before averting her eyes elsewhere. Hopefully they wouldn’t have to worry about any of that when it really came down to it… still, she tried not to think too hard about potential worse case scenarios. And even then, it wasn't like they'd be flying alone...

With that business seemingly sorted out and a clear picture for what they needed in mind, Phoenix watched as the clerk walked off and headed into the back to retrieve their equipment. Seeing as neither she nor Kraven had any particular want to follow after him, the redhead was more than content to stick by her friend for the time being as she and Klaus followed along towards the wall displays of traditional saddles. ”Ah, yeah… I mean, I’d think they’d at least come with some sort of built-in failsafe just in case,” she reciprocated the dark-haired musician’s remark with a wry smile, ”But as you’d said hopefully this won’t be permanent, at least until you can find something else, right?” Her eyes curiously swept over the different types of saddles on display in varying sizes, from small ones that were suited for children to far larger ones that would definitely be a better fit for particularly big Pokemon. As Kraven brought up possibly using Psychic types to just teleport around places, Phoenix couldn’t help but giggle at the mental image of her friend getting stuck in a wall from a warp mishap. ”You think? Teleportation would be a lot more convenient, but there’s something to be said for taking the scenic route too,” she suggested with a shrug, ”We’ll just have to keep our options open during our travels, yes? My offer still stands if you ever have any second thoughts, though~”

Offering a light smile and a playful wink towards her friend, Phoenix’s attention was drawn back towards the clerk as he reemerged from the back with a large saddle tucked underneath an arm and a harness clutched in his other hand. ”Alright, hopefully these’ll fit for y’all n’ yer Pokemon just fine,” he said, handing the harness over to Kraven for her to look over before moving over to help Phoenix get the saddle settled on Jetta. As the redhead carefully lifted up the rather heavy saddle onto the Aerodactyl’s back with the tall man’s aid, she noticed the underside of it was covered in a layer of thick white fluff that felt soft yet springy to the touch, likely for extra comfort. ”These should be comfortable ‘nough for yer Pokemon t’ be able to wear long-term either in or outta ball. Just make sure they’re well maintained between uses, they’ll last a lot longer that way,” he advised, carefully adjusting the thick saddle strap around the rock bird’s underside and buckling it up so it was tight enough to be secure without causing too much discomfort. Jetta hardly complained throughout the process, curiously watching her trainer and the man the whole time and looking over her shoulder at the strange new thing that now sat on her back. Seeming satisfied with the fit of her new saddle, Phoenix reached into her bag to grab her wallet so they could pay up and be on their way. ”What do you think, Kraven?” she asked, looking over towards her friend curiously to see if her new riding gear was indeed up to snuff for what she wanted. 】☆ ☆

If she recognized Jetta's attentions before, Mothra didn't seem to show it, simply hovering in place while the humans around them spoke. She only stared back as the Aerodactyl looked on, watching the new addition stoically. There were a few beats after the question where there was yet still no response, but eventually the Volcarona did give the rock-type a quiet nod. If she had anything to say though, she didn't have a chance to get it out before her trainer's attention came onto her again, bidding the towering moth to settle down from her position.

Once all the measurements were done and the clerk gone to retrieve the necessary equipment, Mothra returned to the air, hovering beside the redhead's pokemon while the two trainers drifted to one side of the store. "I'd certainly hope so. With any luck I'll find something to actually ride before we start crossing regions." Granted, if a harness snapped in the trip, better it to happen over water than land, but Kraven's newfound familiarity with being left in free fall didn't make that any more appealing. She nodded along when Phee commented on the potential of simply teleporting everywhere, journey be damned. "Yeah, I'd agree. Loop the leather in a few places, tighten the belts and adjust them to the Volcarona's frame... She'd gotten half of it sorted out by the time Phoenix spoke up again, drawing her attention towards Jetta's saddle. "Looks quite nice, I'd say," she spoke, getting back to her feet after taking a seat to strap Mothra in. "Seems like it'll make the flight to the next city as smooth as it's gonna get."

☆ ☆【 Jetta blinked as she curiously watched the Volcarona next to her, hardly listening to the humans around them as they kept talking. Every so often she would glance over in their direction whenever they moved around, but otherwise kept her attention on the other Pokemon as they stared at each other. The Aerodactyl wondered what the Volcarona was thinking, though the other hardly seemed like talkative type as she’d said essentially nothing at all since being called out. Even after Jetta voiced her apprehensive query on if the other was a friend or not, it took a few moments before Mothra gave a simple nod in answer. Still, the Aerodactyl didn’t really seem to mind the lack of conversation, the rock-type’s tail drumming a bit louder against the wooden floor at the confirmation as she gave a cheery little warble. In spite of not having been with her new trainer for very long or even gotten well acquainted with her other teammates yet, Jetta looked sincerely glad at the prospect of making a new friend. As much as she would’ve liked to continue the rather one-sided conversation, when the clerk came over to measure out the Volcarona for her new harness the Aerodactyl backed off a bit to give them more space.

Jetta watched with quiet inquiry as the tall man finished up with his measurements and walked off to the back, the Aerodactyl wrinkling her nose a bit as she detected the much stronger tanned leather smell drifting out from beyond the door. Turning her attention towards the closest displays, the rock bird reached out and lightly ran a claw along one of the saddles, testing the smooth feel of the leather while the pair of trainers did a bit of browsing. Phoenix hummed at Kraven’s agreement on hopefully finding another Pokemon besides Mothra to use for flying travel, running through a mental list of possible options they might come across in their journey to Nimbasa. Nothing really jumped out at her right away, but maybe they might stumble across something on the way… Of course the thought of potentially faulty equipment while they were flying up high did little to ease Phoenix’s worry. She imagined her friend wasn’t any more thrilled by the idea than she was, not that the redhead could blame her for feeling apprehensive about dangling from the sky with only a harness between herself and a thousand foot fall. As they talked about the possibility of using Psychic Pokemon for teleporting around instead, Phoenix couldn’t help but be amused at the idea of her companion ending up stuck in a wall. ”Fair enough there, if you had a choice between the lesser of two possibly dangerous situations. At the very least being stuck in a wall would make for a good funny story later,” she agreed with a laugh, smirking as Kraven rolled her eyes a little at the redhead’s offer.

Before she could respond, however, the clerk came out from the back with their riding equipment, handing Kraven her new harness and helping Phoenix get Jetta equipped with her saddle. To the redhead’s relief it seemed the saddle fit the Aerodactyl well enough without being too tight and uncomfortable, which was definitely nice since she’d likely be wearing it long-term between flights. Klaus, on the other hand, stood back and watched Kraven sort out the harness and figure out all the belts and straps on it. He considered offering to help out, though from the looks of it the dark-haired musician seemed like she could take care of it herself easily enough once she moved on to actually fitting it onto Mothra. Jetta curiously eyed her new saddle, craning her neck over both shoulders to get a good look at the foreign weight that now rested against her back. It would definitely take some getting used to, though the soft fluffy padding on it made it feel a lot more comfortable than it otherwise would’ve been. Grabbing her wallet to pay for the new equipment, Phoenix glanced over to Kraven to see how she was making out with Mothra’s harness. Hopefully it was as sturdy and durable as it was nice-looking… ”That’s about all we can hope for at this point,” she said with a small reassuring smile, looking back to the clerk as he nodded in approval.

”Heh, well in that case both y’all ladies fly safe out there. It’ll be ‘bout two hundred for the saddle n’ a hundred fifty for the harness.” Of course Phoenix had expected it to cost quite a bit, but $200 seemed pretty reasonable for a good quality saddle. While they paid up the tall man advised them on how to care for their new equipment, making sure to clean them every so often so they’d last longer, using oil and polish to keep the leather from cracking and fraying, etc. Tucking away her wallet after paying for her new saddle, Phoenix returned Jetta back to her ball for the time being and exited the shop once Kraven had gotten settled with her purchase as well.

The moment they stepped back out onto the streets of Castelia, the redhead took a deep relieving breath of fresh, clean air once the cloying aroma of the tack shop was left behind. ”Hopefully that’ll be the only time we’ll have to go shopping there, I’m probably going to be smelling nothing but leather for at least two weeks now,” Klaus remarked with a wry grin, waving a hand in front of his nose and giving a little cough as if that would help clear it out. ”Can’t say I envy you there,” Phoenix shot the Zoroark a brief look of sympathy, glancing back over to her friend and flashing a small smile, ”Assuming there’s no other stops to make here, we might as well get a move on while there’s still plenty of daylight to burn.” It was definitely going to be quite a long day of travel, training, and rounding out their teams a bit more in preparation for Nimbasa’s gym, but with three badges now under her belt the redhead was feeling a bit more confident that she’d be well prepared for their next challenge when they finally got there. She was already thinking of which Pokemon on her team to focus on training in the meantime when they got to the desert as they headed for the city exit, at least until she could hopefully find a Ground-type of her own. 】☆ ☆

If it came down to it though Phoenix's offer of riding together helped calm her nerves, in spite of all the joking about it.

With a few soft smacks to her cheeks, Kraven shook off the last of the morning's sluggish start to move forward, following her companion beyond the city limits to properly start their day.

Back where her second life started, Castelia City's port came into view as the duo quickly made their way towards the large metropolis. The red-heads eyes scanned the skycrapers before her, memories of the past flooding in like a video playing on repeat. Her gaze shifted upwards towards the darkening sky. Stars peeked past the heavy cloud cover. A storm was brewing? A foreboding sight to say the least... at least it had been clear the night she'd saved Ookoth. The dragon in question had come down just enough to hide among the clouds. The tendrils that flowed from his maw kind of looked like lightning from here. "I'm sure the place where my Pokemon are stored is on the outskirts of the city, closer to the desert." Avikna spoke mostly to herself. Arietty glanced back her gaze locking with Avikna's. "I know it's getting dark and it looks like a storm is brewing, but I want to get answers as quickly as possible." Arietty didn't really respond, simply turning her gaze back forward. As for the incense at some point the Bronzor fell out of range of the incenses pull leaving the duo to travel in relative peace. It didn't last long as they slowed down upon getting closer to the city, the scent attracted a different kind of Psychic-type, this time Solosis. Tay was rather bewildered by the shine of the city before them as the sinking sun reflected off the windows of the buildings before them. Yumin, the only one of Tay's Pokemon to stay outside their ball found the use of his Feint Attack useful against these Pokemon as well. It also allowed him the capability of keeping up with Mave and Arietty's pace, if only slightly.. though the tiny fish was struggling.
