Once more, Zak rushed forward, this time coming to an abrupt stop, dribbling, studying the two of them. His eyes swiftly swept back and forth,t aking in every detail, and suddenly he broke to the left again, moving to go around Sotnik. It was an easy-- but admittedly thoughtless-- maneuver to simply throw his weight over and move his body around to block the left side of the hoop from Zak's sweeping approach. And, expectedly, Zak darted for the new gap between the serperior and his Empoleon. But Sotnik was ten feet tall; he threw his tail up, trying to take up as much space as possible, and Deys reluctantly moved over, guaranteeing a solid block. Zak quickly spun out from the drive, and, just as smoothly, bolted around, arching towards the other side.
Clearly expecting this, Deys quickly moved, but stepping away had left him open, and Zak moved fast. He was able to throw one flipper up, the other down to try and block Zak, but again, his trainer was able to get those extra steps, moving him close enough to the line for him to hurl the ball up. This time, it soared into the air, spinning rapidly. The angle was substantially better, but the amount of force he'd put into it to get it up and over made it go too high, for too long; by the time it started coming down, it was already almost completely over the basket, and Zak landed heavily, cursing in Russian as it, again, missed. Sotnik quietly slipped back into place, trying to get over the shock of two 'almosts'. He'd almost got between them-- and then he almost made the shot. It was almost terrifying, trying to defend against him...

Zak motioned for Sotnik to get the ball, but stayed where he was by the basket, looking up at it, his hands on his hips as he caught his breath. It was dark now, the lights around them the only source of illumination, barely reaching the outskirts of the court. He seemed oblivious, or unfazed, by the continuation of time, though; he was absorbed completely in his game. Sotnik was more careful with his pass this time, sliding the bastketball across the court, and then finally giving it one more nudge to Zak, who, without looking, lifted a foot and stepped it to a stop.
He reached down, grabbing it, and motioned Deys and Sotnik away. "Go tyake a break," he urged, stepping back from the basket, "I vant to tyake a look at zis." The two pokemon exchanged a look, but moved off down the court. Deys sat down, and Sotnik laid his head on the concrete. He hadn't been doing nearly as much moving as Zak had, and yet he was feeling tired. Both watched as their trainer moved, stepping, repositioning himself, and faking shots. They couldn't see what he was doing in detail-- he probably angled that on purpose, so they couldn't predict it-- but occasionally they could see his lips moving, catch a glimpse of his wrist practicing a hypothetical shot.
Sotnik closed his eyes. It would probably only be a moment's rest, and then back to practice.

"Alright." Zak's voice cut across the court and snapped them both to attention. Sotnik lifted himself up, and Deys climbed to his feet. "Let's go again." Sotnik warily slid back to the hoop, but when he took up his position, he readied himself, scraping away the fatigue and honing in his focus. Deys seemed even less affected by how long they'd been at this, and Zak, possibly more so. He approached with a slower pace, dribbling nearer, but then darted off, immediately sweeping out around Sotnik again. The serperior dove to the side, to block, but this time he measured himself more carefully, trying to use as much of himself to cover as much air as possible. Zak faked to dart back, trying to bluff his starter into wavering away, and, when that didn't work, followed through, moving back around. He cut back on his half circle to the other side, again making as if to cut between them, but there wasn't even an opening before he'd made more than two steps, and he made for his final duck to the right.
Once more, he shot towards the boundary line, and Deys threw himself over to cover, this time moving one fin down, trying to block the shot, while Sotnik moved his tail to try and catch it from below, in case Zak got past, while keeping his body up, almost expecting for him to redirect and shoot up, instead.
And then... they both heard the swish of the net. It was like they'd fallen asleep for half a second; they'd both moved, shifting quickly to cover where they thought Zak was positioning himself, every angle he could make, every shot; and neither noticed him rapidly pivot, spin twice to get out from them, and leap to make a simple, easy shot.
He landed with a grin, his head cocked confidently to the side, eyes watching the ball, and ignore the wide-eyed stares of his pokemon.

It was probably the first time that Sotnik had seen Deys' expression look anything close to surprised. It was a limited range enough, but his eyes typically remained cool, collected; and indeed, within seconds, they had resumed such a look, and he straightened up. Sotnik, however, was still very much in surprise.
It had all been planned. He could tell, from the look on Zak's face. The whole time it had been his plan. He'd 'practiced' the shot. He failed, he let them take a break so he could 'get it', and then when he 'went for it'.... He went for it. Sotnik shook his head, still a little boggled. That would show him for thinking he knew what was going on. And if this was any indicator, trying to predict would just result in failure. Being prepared was the only option, and if it wasn't enough, he would just have to find a way to be better prepared. How to balance his weight so he could move faster, more agile. How to maximize his size so that he could block the goal. He slipped away from the basket a bit, just a little ways from his usual position, while Zak dribbled the ball out a bit, occasionally tossing it in the air, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Finally, he turned, passing the ball to Deys. "You two cohnteenue practecing," he instructed, "Myake sure Sotnik learns more about handling ze ball." Deys nodded, turning towards the starter, while Zak stepped over to the bench. He knelt down, grabbing his bag and pulling it forward a bit. Daeva seemed to be sleeping, with Boo slouched against her, snoring gently.
He drew out his laptop, opening it to check on his programs. He moved about a few more pokemon, hacking into several other PC's, switching them around, drawing a few out, sending them here or there. There were some he couldn't quite get access to, but could still view, which he, generally passed over. And then stopped, when he saw an enormous amount of blue. He squinted, narrowing his eyes, only for them to widen. That.... was a lot of water pokemon. And there was a Froakie....
.... He wanted it...
Glancing off to the side, he quickly diverted the screen slightly, pulling up as much information on the possessing trainer as he could. He wrote it down, stashed it away, and switched his programs. He would see what he could find on him at a later date. For now, he switched over to Scarlett's program, frowning a bit when he saw it was still running it's search. It had compiled a list of several factors shared between a few of them, but the list was too long, and not yet fully organized. There was no point going through it, yet. He closed his laptop back up, putting it away, and sliding his bag under the bench with his foot while he stood up, looking around.
Hopefully Meebus and Totodile were making their own progress...

In a way, Meebus and Totodile were indeed making progress. They had managed to find a young trainer, a girl borrowing some of her 'daddys' pokemon to try battling with them. She had already sent out her first pokemon, a little Espurr (which was apparently her own), and Totodile eagerly rushed forward. Meebus stayed back, still in his heat form. Totodile had.... informed him that he was carrying some of his plugs (by throwing one at his head), and he was considering the benefit of it. He knew that he could change into other forms, but he was also fairly sure he would have had to have done that before the battle started. Perhaps... after, he might try some of the other ones out...

Meebus was jostled from his thoughts by the sharp, angry cry of the young girl and the stomp of her foot. Totodile blinked and leaped back, balancing on one foot, leaning away from her, sweeting a bit at the furious, watery eyed look on her face. Meebus blinked a bit, then glided forward as the girl, with a sound of anger, sent forth her next pokemon. Totidle, relaxed, looking up at Meebus, and then grinning, cackling a bit as he danced backwards, getting out of the way. Just in time, as a blast of heat billowed out, instantly K.O.ing the bug-flying pokemon that had been sent out.

Was this on purpose? Meebus blinked as the next pokemon sent out was a Slaking, a normal type. He quickly leaned back, drifting away, and letting Totodile rush forward. The ghost-now-fire pokemon watched as his teammate quickly pummeled the opponent. Switching back and forth like this... they were doing quite a decent amount of battling, and in equal shares. He could tell it was paying off, too, for both of them, which meant it was also likely paying off for Daeva as well, back with Zak. He turned a bit, looking in the direction of where their trainer was undoubtedly still playing basketball. It wouldn't do for them to get too overly strong... a bit more, and then maybe they would head back. It was starting to get a bit late, anyway...

Hmm.... perhaps that thought had jinxed it. The next pokemon their opponent, now sniffling and rubbing her eyes, sent out, was one Totodile was better suited for. The little gator seemed to recognize this, cackling and dancing happily, before rushing forward, and hitting it with a water, drenched tail, knocking it out. The girl cried. Meebus shifted where he floated, then turned again, simply listening as Totodile prepared to handle the rest of the battle. After this, perhaps they would go find some wild pokemon, do a little more training... and then they could go find Zak and the others.

As the last one fell (even more easily than the others), the girl cried out and stomped her foot again. "MEANIES!" she screamed, "Those were my DADS pokemon! They shoulda been more'n unough to-- to--!" She swiped her arm over her face, turned, and ran off. Totodile simply chattered happily at her fleeing figure, then turned, falling still and looking at Meebus. Eh? Was he... waiting for Meebus to decide where to go next? ... Well alright.
The rotom turned, gliding off down one of the alleys, in search of wild pokemon.

Back at the court, Zak turned, watching his pokemon as Deys passed the ball to Sotnik, and the serperior practiced trying to hit it back. In a controlled fashion, of course. He started over, smirking a bit as both of his pokemon looked warily back over at him. "Vat? You two aren't steel sore over zat leettle trick I pulled, are you?" he teased lazily. Sotnik glanced at Deys, but the Empoleon simply kept his gaze on his trainer and, once close enough, passed him the ball.
"Honestly, you two should have peecked up on et," he added, moving over to that spot, looking up at the hoop, "From zis particular angle, et is vury defficult to balance ze upvord momentum vis ze forvward momentum rekvired for ze ball to travel up, over, and to ze side to purfectly geet en ze net." He lowered his hand, stretching his arm out to again reach past the backboard. "Ze best vay," he started, giving the ball a sudden, hard toss up, "Es to pass to yourself." The ball spun up, flying high into the air, giving Zak time to quickly spin, pivot, and step onto the side of the net the ball would come down on, leaping up, arm stretching to grab the ball on it's slightly-off-target trajectory, and slam it into the net. Sotnik winced, but Zak landed with a grin. The way he dunked it, it looked like his arm should have hit the rim and broke, or at least bruised; but apparently, it was just the angle. Zak didn't seem hurt at all.

Zak reached down and swept up the ball, lifting it up and tossing it with a spin, then catching it firmly between his hands. Sotnik thought he was getting ready for another round, but instead, Zak walked over, setting the ball onto the bench. "Ve should try and do sum veight lifting, muscle training," Zak remarked, stretching an arm out to the side, pulling it in across his chest with the other, "Zen stretch, cool down, and ve can turn en. Eet es getting late, and Meebus and Totodile should be back soon." Sotnik watched curiously as his trainer stretched his head from side to side, popping his neck, and then walking over.
"Deys, be Sotnik's veight. Help him train his core, or.... tail... vhatever, muscles," he instructed. He looked like he was about to continue, but Deys had promptly falling back, landing on Sotnik's tail. "Serp!" the grass type yelped, instinctively trying to jerk out from under. Deys was too heavy, though, and he flopped down, giving up. Zak was grinning, broadly, quite obviously just short of bursting out laughing. "Not vhat I meant," he said, his amusement just as clear in his voice as it was in his expression, "Get up, and use your foot or sumsing. Start lighter. I'll be traineng over zere." He jerked his head towards one of the trees bordering the open park-like area.
Deys climbed to his feet, but before Sotnik could retract, stepped on him, nodding for him to try and lift his flippered foot.
Zak, meanwhile, made for the tree he'd indicated, reaching up to grab the branch with both arms, and pull himself up in a pull up. He could work his arms a bit, but he definitely wanted to work his core. Hopefully by the time they were about done, they could find Meebus and Totodile, and turn in for the night. He might actually get a pretty good night's rest with all this exercise, too.

Fifteen minutes later and Zak was hanging upside down from the tree branch doing crunches. He paused, though, letting himself fall back into place, hanging upside down as some odd odor reaches his nose. He practically started turning green as it got stronger, and quickly folded back up, grabbing onto the branch to either side of his legs and unhooking his knees to let himself fall, heels over head, back, letting go before his arms bent a little too far. He landed on his feet, expression contorted into disgust, while lifting an arm to press the back of his hand to his nose. "Yugh... Vat es..." His searching gaze finally landed on the mock rolling out of a nearby alley, and he took a step back.
On the bench, Daeva jerked away, thrashing her head at the smell, and Boo leaped up, startled, as well. Just as the pokemon started curiously wandering towards them, though, something soared out from the alley behind, whirred around to face it, and blasted it with an intense amount of heat.
Meebus.
Totodile leaped over the fainted pokemon, snickering, and came on over, handing Zak the remaining plugs. "You didn't use zem?" he asked, keeping his hand up as he watched the grimer hurriedly retreat. Once the smell finally faded, he lowered it, though the sneer of annoyance remained on his face. "I tried the Wash Plug on the way back, but ultimately decided to revert to this form when I noticed the grimer approaching your location," Meebus explained, while Totodile continued his jolly dance. Zak looked down at him. "I see... vell, at least et seems you two did a fair amount of traineng...." he remarked.

Pulling his gaze up, Zak turned towards his back. "Cume on!" he called over to Deys and Sotnik, who had stopped their training to watch their teammates' return, "Ve should head tvards ze pokemon ceentar." The pokemon came over, while Zak grabbed his bag, pulling it on and picking up his shirt and basketball. It was dark, but he was fairly sure he would be able to find his way without much difficulty. This did remind him that he might want to look into getting a flying type, though. heck... there were a few types he might want to 'look into getting', but with Meebus and all these plugs, that list had been cut down substantially. Hell... Maybe even a flying type was unnecessarily, but it would help to have the fast, extra pair of eyes to scope things out, and keep one his prime fighting pokemon available.
He glanced over at the oven-shaped pokemon floating along beside him, expression blank, 'voice box' quiet. He was certainly peculiar. In... a lot of ways. Did Zak trust him? No, not really, but he felt he could expect him to do some things. And the pokemon had already invaded his electronics... who knows how much information he got from that. He certainly wasn't going to let him go after that, but the pokemon didn't seem eager to escape, either. After all, he'd caught himself; Zak hadn't even wanted the thing to begin with.
So, at the very least, he knew this much: 'Meebus' wanted to be a part of his team.

Zak arrived at the pokecenter a little while later, his pokemon all following in alongside or behind him. Quite the mob, they made, and drew several glances and raised many eyebrows, but Zak barely paid attention. He finally returned them to hand them all to Nurse Joy, asking for a room, his shirt still clutched in his hand. She nodded and informed him they could accommodate him and his pokemon, and he moved off to sit down. Almost immediately he stood back up, leaving to grab himself a water bottle, and returning in time to pick up his pokemon, and head up to the rooms. He finished the water off as he arrived, tossing the bottle aside and kicking the door behind him, tossing the pokeballs onto the bed, most of which snapped back open to release the pokemon. "I'm goeng to tyake a showver," he informed, stretching an arm back over his head, "Zen I veell go geet dinner." Daeva leaped off the bed as he grabbed some clothes and started for the bathroom.
"Nyet," he chided, noticing her at the door way. He nudged at her with his foot. "No, Daeva." She gave a disappointed, croaking chirp, and stepped back. He disappeared in and closed the door, and, after a moment, she bounded through the door, phasing her way past it. There was already the sound of rushing water, and, shortly thereafter-- "DAEVA!"
Most of the pokemon stared at the door at the sound of a commotion from the bathroom, Meebus flickering a bit, blinking slowly, watching passively. Boo was one of the few not looking, instead staring at him with wide eyes, which he appeared not to notice.
Finally, the door swung open, and Daeva was hurled out, the door slamming behind her, a puff of steam fading behind it. The Ghoizard chirruped angrily, chattering and slinking to the nearby bed, and leaping on it, curling in around herself.

Zak emerged from the bathroom after a bit, steam rolling out with him. He finished drying off his hair and tossed the towel back behind him, picking up Daeva, who chirred in frustration, and placing her on his shoulder. "Hush, dochka," he muttered, walking out the door, "You deesobeyed. Et vas your own fault." She seemed to grumble, but stayed on his shoulder, the other pokemon watching the door close behind them. Scattered about the room, they waited, and when he returned, they all ate, with Zak dropping onto the bed, chewing on a piece of jerky, his eyes closed.
Before he could even finish, he was out cold.
Waking up, he shifted, looked around, then threw his legs over the bed. Daeva lifted her head from where she'd been curled up beside him, then got to her feet, stretching. Zak quietly padded over to his things, pulling out his computer, his eyes narrowing as he scanned over the information on the screen. Hm.... He stood up, redirecting the programs, and putting it away. He gathered up his things, put on his shoes, and returned most of his pokemon. He held out his arm so Daeva could run up, curling herself on his shoulders a bit, while he pulled out his communication device, and started a message.
