I am, but don't have any of my books here. If I had to build the character right now, the best I could do is a human rogue-ish character.

I'm curious, can we get a little more information about the setting? Why are we fighting demons? Where is this taking place? Those sort of things. I want to be able to tie my character into the background and setting

you were part of a military unit that was ran by a young general who got the position cuz his father had deep pockets. the general sent us on a suicide mission which we basically told him "Hell No" and walked off. we were immediately arrested and charged with insubordination and sent home to be tried during the trial it was revealed that the general was the son of an official who paid off the judge to give you the death sentence but the judge offered you a way to redeem yourselves by spending 30 earth days in hell fighting off demons and devils. as people who value our lives and freedom its a no brainer to choose the 30 days in hell. so we all know each other and have been fighting wars and protecting citizens for the last 3 years gaining experience (getting us to level 5) and also giving us the money to purchase the 3 items you get at the beginning with the 1000 gold left over. they take each of you out one at a time with a half dragon 4 guard escort into the market to buy provisions for the trip. and then you are lead back to your cells to await your trip to the gates of hell.

I encourage you to talk to each other to find out what your buying and find out a plan to gauge how much time has passed in hell because unless you have some kind of hour glass or waterclock you wont know otherwise razz

I'm not sure what I'd run. While Savage Species is interesting and I had a good idea, the whole 'don't gain HD on every level' and the skips in skills and feats and what not for level adjustment reminds me of why it's actually pretty crap. No offense, but most humans with an equivalent level are more powerful than the presented monster 'classes'. Especially the higher ones when mages start being a thing.

Not that I'm not still thinking on it due to my idea and I'm not quite certain how to make a dinosaur riding kobold cavalier (though it's hell, so don't know how well that'd work either).

Well every good party has a healer, a Mage, an HP Tank or AC tank and a Stealth based character. so keep that in mind XD discuss here or amongst yourselves in PMs

Right. So, I guess I'll breach the subject to everyone here.

I would like to join this game as either a devil who's decided to help the group for his own gain (especially since they're going to need to find a way to survive and not just constant fighting, plus who knows what other things could be found down there), offering his knowledge of the hellscapes as well as his abilities.

Or, I would like to join as a celestial who's basically sent here by one of the character's gods to help them out due to this spit in the face of true justice.

I'd like people's opinions on these thoughts. I'd be using Savage Species for it. Of course, if people aren't liking these ideas, I can always look into other things.

I'm cool with either, though, are you going to be a reformed or neutral devil , cause being evil might cause conflict with potential super good characters ( cough, cough, probably me, cough) where they wont want to let your devil join the team.

I toyed with the idea of making and angel myself, trapped in hell, that the party could rescue early on, so that's another potential avenue. However , if you want to do something like that I'm going to pursue a different character. Right now I'm waffling between making a harpy, or a human with either the bug or reptile template. Centaur is being considered as well.
