~ ANGEL ISLAND ~
In an unknown building, there was a prisoner, but one who had done no wrong. This captive is a young golden quilled hedgehog, whom is the age of a particular pink hedgehog that most are familiar with. However, the young female hedgehog in question here, is more special in a way. In saying that, her name is Sophie. There is a mystery that literally and
figuratively lies within her: an emerald of great energy, similar to a Chaos Emerald, but with its own unique properties. Although, that isn't the only one that Sophie has. There is another attached to a necklace that the young Mobian girl has around her neck. The other mystery is, what do these two have to do with Sophie? Their energy keep Sophie alive, and also compare to the great power of the Chaos Emeralds. Apart from these seven known emeralds, there are two of her own. What underlying reason to how she obtained them, is unknown, and yet to be discovered. When in reach of any other powerful emerald, there is a reaction between Sophie and the other emerald in question. Sophie is also able to locate emeralds, but the downfall is. . . this makes her a target. These mysteries alone are what keep her prisoner in the unknown building. Though, the beginning doesn't stop there. Sophie has always tried to escape, but without success on the previous tries - always being gassed or rounded up by the security in the unknown facility, and taken back to her holding cell which does have utilities for one to use, but nothing very special. On the next attempt, the young golden hedgehog tries to escape, but surprisingly, she succeeds. Although Sophie has finally gotten out, the energies react with the door she opened, but because of the discharge from what Sophie harboured on the inside and on the outside - her special emeralds. Without a second to lose, Sophie decides to make a run for it. The unknown facility that the young Mobian hedgehog had been held prisoner in, was meant to hold in Chaos Force energies. However, not today - Sophie was going to make her escape, even though she would be chased down, but not captured this time. Sophie had a plan, and with split second thinking, she was quick to make her way out. Though that was short-lived as the young Mobian girl was going to finally, she would not have it this day, and fought back in the brief scuffle that landed her outside and away from the building. Rest was important, though there was not time for that and Sophie needed to press forward in order to make the final escape from where she had been help captive. There was the chance a search squad would be sent after her, but that was long from fruition - Sophie's strong will had led her on a long journey away from whatever place she ran from, to the present proximity to a floating island, namely - Angel Island.
Angel Island - home to the Master Emerald, and resident red echidna, Knuckles. Though on his usual duty of supposedly guarding the island's power source, which kept it afloat, it was a duty passed down from his father - Locke, the previous guardian of the Master Emerald. Tonight would be different for the supposed last member and descendant of the Knuckles Clan - Knuckles himself, would have a visitor, whom unknown to him, was nearby. Just on the other side of the Master Emerald, a young hedgehog, whom appeared to have some desire, but not one involving the large green gem of power. However, once the balance of the Master Emerald was disturbed, the red echidna would react and he did so to the supposed intruder. Suspicious as always of all who come near or lay their eyes on the Master Emerald, Knuckles would eventually find that this young Mobian had no intention of taking or using it. In fact, the end result of asking his usual questions, discovered that the young Mobian was only seeking warmth and rest. And finding out, this hedgehog's name is Sophie. On that note, Knuckles would feel guilty because of his rash behaviour, and would take in Sophie - the same Sophie whom escaped the prison facility untold hours to days before. Eventually, Sophie would explain her dilemma to Knuckles, and the red echidna would proudly protect the young hedgehog and even attempt to cheer her up. Settling in for the night, Knuckles would take the risk of not guarding the Master Emerald and create shelter for his new friend. Eventually, even Knuckles would tire out and soon follow sleep with his passed out friend, but guard the outside of the shelter along with the Master Emerald nearby. This was only the end of captivity for Sophie, and the beginning of her freedom while the start for Knuckles to protect something else important apart from the Master Emerald. As this was the end of a long day for both young hedgehog, and echidna guardian, it would be the start of an eventful beginning for the both of them. Furtive entities would lay in the shadows, while others would hover above to spy upon the two newly acquainted Mobians. Evil was brewing below, while scheming happened above.
Unbeknownst to Angel Island, thieves and liars were biding their time. A familiar figure, and counterpart to the resident red echidna, watched while carefully planning after discovering Sophie, but was the second to see the young Mobian hedgehog. This spy in the sky, she had been listening to the night chatter between Knuckles and Sophie, and taking interest in the situation. This flying spy, is a Mobian bat. However, one with her own agenda, especially when it came something shiny and worth of value to her. Sophie had been the cause for the sparkle in the spying Mobian bat's eyes. To Knuckles, this female is a thief and cheat - Rouge The Bat, a woman with a penchant for jewels, and other objects that shine or are worth a high price. Unknown to Sophie, this golden hedgehog, was that jewel. Though, Sophie would not know these plans until sometime later.
The following day, whilst still morning, a figure in the shadows, evil and malevolent, with disregard for the living, bided its time while spying on the two Mobians on the summit of the Master Emerald's altar. However, this evil entity was one of not where, but when. Though he stay in secret, his own agenda was a worse potential fate that aimed itself towards what he found as a disturbance to his own memory - Sophie's existence. Unknown to the evil being, Sophie was cause for concern since she was not someone that existed within his memory, nor time. Investigation was this evil entity's course of action, though motives untold would try to sway Sophie over to what could be used as a tool for the evil's own ends. Although an entity fluctuating in time, he had to serve his means to an end through trickery and false good intentions. His name - Mephiles The Dark - the other half of a deity known as Solaris, whom was split into Iblis. The latter half was raw power and destruction, the former half - the cunning mind.
Before the guardian of the Master Emerald awoke, his new friend had done so before the red echidna. Sophie had only wanted to continue her search for a necklace with a gem on - one of the mysteries of her, that had been lost back in the unknown complex located back where she escaped from. However, Sophie did not want to do this as she would wait until Knuckles had awoken. Though the young golden hedgehog would feel bad in doing so, she did not want for her red echidna friend to become attached, and lose her. After a hilarous wake up, the Guardian of the Master Emerald, found his new friend safe and sound, and even ended up discussing Sophie's mystery - the two gems that kept her alive, the interaction she had with the Master Emerald, and what further could happen if the other half of the young golden hedgehog's lifeforce had not been retrieved. Knuckles, he was firm in his resolve to get back what belonged to Sophie. Though his crusadely good intentions would be cut short by a vist from someone whom had been spying on him from the night before - Rouge The Bat. Through some teasing, and some unpleasant reactions, Knuckles stood his ground when his treasure hunting counterpart had arrived. The two spoke, but only had a one sided exchange of discomfort - Knuckles expressing his contempt towards Rouge. At this point, Sophie's name was already introduced without the young hedgehog herself saying it, but introduced herself anyway, but timidly. Now that Knuckles was riled up, Rouge was only more amused to tease her treasure hunting counterpart. Though, at some point in the conversation between the three, but mostly between Knuckles and Rouge, the white Mobian bat was serious.
However intense the conversation would get, at some point, another had been lurking around - a silver hedgehog, but not one of this time - Silver, whom had been from the future. He had made his entrance, although is was abrupt. The entrance of this silver Mobian, was new information to Sophie as she wondered if she knew the silvery hedgehog, but did not. This was cause enough to go into hiding, but still observe while the silvery Mobian had been present. Curiosity had come over the silvery Mobian hedgehog, wanting to know about the golden young hedgehog present among the current group. Immediately after, Knuckles would make his retort about Rouge having her eye on Sophie as if the young hedgehog were some prize. However, amidst that conversation, the red echidna would bring up past events that regarded Silver's presence. Although, Knuckles did reiterate his declaration of protection over Sophie while amongst those present. Nearing the end of the conversation, Silver had brought up his reason being there, and even mentioning another familiar Mobian who had been well acquainted with Rouge, and had an ulterior motive for the Chaos Emeralds. There was some solace in knowing that Silver was like Sophie - alone. Before Silver had left, there was apology to which Sophie wondered further about. Once the young golden hedgehog felt safer, she came out of the tent, looking toward Silver, whom was now a distance away. Once this transpired, Sophie appeared uneasy afterwards. Once the conversation returned to Rouge, Knuckles, and Sophie, the red echidna had reassured his young golden hedgehog friend that everything will be all right. Though he said this, Knuckles now sought to look for more help, but he would become uneasy himself in seeking assistance from his own treasure hunting counterpart. However uncomfortable the red echidna felt, he set that aside in hopes to have a group search for what Sophie had lost.
Elsewhere, in the shadows, lie in wait, Mephiles The Dark, continuing to wonder over Silver's presence again, but also about Sophie. Soon, the dark entity would reveal himself to the rest. Only now, he wondered about the Chaos energy coming from his surroundings, and one target of continued interest - Sophie, kept Mephile's attention.
Once Knuckles had made his uncomfortable request that remotely sounded like a plea, Rouge had acknowledged with a little amused pleasure, and contacted her familiar teammate - Shadow The Hedgehog, whom proclaimed himself the Ultimate Lifeform, and better than a particular blue hedgehog. At the moment, Shadow was on a mission of his own to further bring down an evil madman known as Robotnik whom is the descendant grandson of Gerald Robotnik - the creator of Shadow The Hedgehog. At an unknown factory of the previous Eggman Empire, Shadow had followed orders from an organization called G.U.N. - Guardian Units of The Nations. This military force was mostly human, the remnants from centuries ago before Mobians existed. Shadow was their recruit, and soldier to carry out more dangerous missions. The anthropomorphic being was more durable in a heated situation that required more power. In this instance, the dark hedgehog had finished up his task to only be greeted by a message that wasn't necessary to him. Though reluctant, Shadow The Hedgehog had appeared before the current group. He did have more power than the rest of the group, but was scrutinizing toward Sophie, without words, however. Fright and stress had coursed through Sophie enough to have her stand near, and hold onto Knuckles, as the young hedgehog felt safer behind him. Apart from the dark hedgehog's harsh air, Shadow had also informed the present group that the altar of the Master Emerald wasn't the best place to speak as his scrutinizing eyes weren't only looking at Sophie, but also a potentially familiar presence just at the foot of the Master Emerald Altar. However, the Ultimate Lifeform was not the only one to catch a glimpse of the uneasing evil that lay at the bottom of the stairway. . . Sophie did too, only to hide by Knuckles, alerting the red echidna to wonder what was really going on.
Although he felt a little displeased, Knuckles was gratefuly that Shadow showed up, and had now the subject of 'where', brought to his attention - namely Soleanna. This was the location of the last incident that occurred with Mephiles, in the regard of setting loose the destructive entity known as Iblis. Though this happened, that was in a past that had been rewritten for now this timeline followed a different path. Was it broken, or a clean slate? Describing to Sophie that Shadow and Rouge would be in disagreement with the red echidna, Knuckles reaffirmed to the young golden hedgehog that they would agree in the end. However, there was a slight digression in the subject, and Knuckles addressed it. In which case, the red echidna also addressed the fact to Shadow about whatever he did have to say, the dark hedgehog could say in front of the rest of them. At this point, Sophie had to stop Knuckles from reacting to a prior comment that Shadow made. The red echidna had raised his fist because of Shadow's offensive comment which Knuckles wanted the dark hedgehog to repeat. Soon following this, Sophie had left the altar. Shadow had hinted that the golden Mobian leave since the subject was private. There were still disregarding comments made by Shadow, about the young golden hedgehog, though she wasn't that far away. Nothing was said in time to stop the young hedgehog from leaving, and this made Knuckles irritated. Shadow didn't really have much regard, and Rouge would eventually start teasing Knuckles again. However, Shadow would speak first, and address the immediate group that they better go now if they were to start. Considering the hunch that Shadow had of something watching them, favour would be logical to relocate if Knuckles and Rouge did not want some worse occurrence to happen.
Safe boundaries are what Mephiles The Dark would want in his plans to potentially sway the now runaway Sophie, into his grasp, and use to her to dark entity's own means. From the prior observation of Sophie in the at the top of the altar, to her running away from them, Mephiles timed his approached very carefully. The circumstances were unforetold, but had weighed in his favour nonetheless. He soon began speaking to the young golden hedgehog, opening the conversation about being near the Master Emerald Altar. Moments into their conversation, Mephiles had addressed the Chaos Emerald that existed inside Sophie. Briefly, the cunning half of Solaris brought up the arrogance of Shadow, and returned to what immediately had dark demi-deity's interest. The very voice and opening dialogue from Mephiles had frozen Sophie in her tracks along with a worried air that fell on the young girl hedgehog's face. She went as far to begin questioning the dark entity. The golden Mobian female even felt unease settle in from bad feeling she had about the unknown hedgehog figure that approached her. Further dialogue would occur, but only to be interrupted by a Shadow with firm resolve to come after Sophie, and possibly use her to his own means. However, before that, discussion of time had been involved, and Mephiles began his subtle manipulation by bringing up into the conversation that there would be those whom intended to stop him. Though this was a lie, the dark entity continued to feed Sophie false information in order to reach his goal. Unknown to Sophie, Mephiles had a shadowed clone of himself ready to take the hesitant golden young hedgehog's hand. Mephiles went as far to show a glimpse, although unclear, of the timeline he had experienced in order to further convey his message. Already scheming afterwards, whilst waiting on Sophie to come with him, Shadow had finally shown up, but hid instead while biding to spring his plan.
While Shadow was on the verge of leaving, Rouge had directed her attention to the Ultimate Lifeform, explaining what Sophie harboured inside of her. This is what prompted the dark hedgehog to plot and come after the not present young golden hedgehog. Returning her attention to Knuckles, Rouge had made some bothersome comments which seemed insensitive to Knuckles. At this point, Shadow had made his leave while warning Knuckles not to get in the Ultimate Lifeform's way. A disappointed Rouge had even voiced her dismay of her leaving teammate. Knuckles then further expressed his disappointment all the while keeping calm in order to once again ask if he could still be helped with finding what Sophie had lost. However, Rouge would decline as it did not fit in with her agenda. Before flying off, the white Mobian bat had elected contact Shadow. However, that was a bad move on her part, although Rouge did not know that Shadow had intended to sneak up on Mephiles to retrieve Sophie. Now the Ultimate Lifeform's position had been given away. His next move? He would have to come out in the open, confronting the dark entity.
While Rouge made her effort to contact G.U.N. about being unable to reach Shadow, Knuckles had decided to take matters into his own hands this time, catching up to Shadow and retrieving Sophie. Before arriving at the site of what would eventually turn into a three way showdown, the red echidna already had a plan in mind to get Sophie to safety. Although it took a little while to find Sophie, Knuckles had carefully approached, and found a hiding spot to listen in on the conversation. Although the red echidna thought he was not seen, Mephiles's all watching eye had known of the Master Emerald guardian's presence. Though but a clone, the dark demi-deity kept to himself about the new arrival, and resumed focusing his attention on the now present Shadow. Just before the Ultimate Lifeform spoke, Sophie had informed Mephiles about the other emerald she needed, but was cut short by Shadow's position being given away by destroying his communicator. Finding it futile to hide any longer, even not knowing that Sophie felt the presence of a Chaos Emerald nearby apart from the one Mephiles had, Shadow had revealed himself to the rest of the group. The Ultimate Lifeform had subsequently spoke of whom Mephiles is and was prior to them meeting. Now the distraction was beginning for Knuckles to put his own plan into effect. Though Mephiles knew the red echidna was nearby, the dark entity was unwary to what Knuckles had planned. During the exchange of dialogue between Shadow and Mephiles, the dark entity had a point about hospitality - of which Shadow had none towards others. Further in, Mephiles went into detail about Iblis and Solaris. Just before Knuckles sprung into action, his memory had been jogged about Mephiles The Dark. However, this did not deter him from coming out of hiding. Finally running with great strength, and fair speed, Knuckles went to shout her name to distract the others. It happened almost as quickly as Knuckles came out from hiding - retrieving Sophie. However, the plan had went forward as intended - bringing Sophie closely, and literally launching her out of harm's way. During this, Knuckles had asked Sophie to do a spindash in order to be sent as far as possible. All the while, the red echidna had asked for the young hedgehog's trust before being thrown across to another part of the island. Now that Knuckles had done so, Sophie was where the red echidna aimed for - Marble Garden. This location had been near the center of Angel Island, and now that Sophie had landed in this location, a short walk away would prove fruitful. A Chaos Emerald would be found easily because of the reaction Sophie had when in proximity to a Chaos Force energy.
Once Knuckles had accomplished his first objective, confronting Shadow and Mephiles would be a priority, if not distract them before trying to leave and find Sophie again. However, the Master Emerald was now left unguarded, which gave Rouge an opportunity to take it for herself. Since the die had been cast for each of these Mobians and the demi-deity, it seems that Knuckles might be leading the way for opening dialogue, speaking as if he didn't know anything, but would stand his ground in the face of two formidable foes. One he would have no choice to face - Mephiles, and the other - Shadow, someone he would rather not fight. |
