OOC: If there is an active (Roelplayer) librarian right now please let me know, I can adjust to include them instead of going straight forward.

It seemed a whole different world to Saeki once he stepped into the library. The moment the door closed it was as if the outside world was cut off and all there was in the world was the library, it was quite an interesting transition. The scent of paper and wood was unmistakable and the young man smiled a little. He never did bother with libraries much as he could always read at home or he was training, but this day he decided to go head to this rich kingdom of knowledge in the hopes to quench the thirst of curiosity. His blind date with Patrick had gotten him quite interested in the Elemental people. And since he trained plenty, he could afford a day without. After taking in his direct surroundings, the young man walked to the counter and looked at the prices.

Though he didn't really expect to bring books home, he might as well become a member since he would be reading their books. After he sorted that bit out he made his way further inside and looked to see if he could find the section he needed. The young swordsman passed many areas. Mangas, anime, movies, Fantasy section and more. To be fair he wasn't sure where to start looking so he went back to the counter to ask and after getting some clear directions he thanked the librarian and walked to where the books would be. Once he knew where to look it didn't take Saeki long to find what he needed and he smiled. There seemed to be a lot of books about it, but to start with he picked one and then moved to the second floor, sat down at a table and opened the book to start reading.

Even from just the summary he could make out there were a lot of elementals. Patrick being Earth, and being the main focus of his interest, the young man looked up the chapter for earth elementals and started to read the information on it. The book seemed to be about a lot of factors for them. And it would seem there was much and more to learn about them. Saeki went back to the first page once he finished the chapter about earth and decided to read from the beginning before finding more books about the subject in a whole.

He'd entered many libraries before, but he always loved seeing how differently they were decorated and what kinds of books they held inside. The inside of the building was warm, his hands rubbing together as he sent a friendly wave towards the librarian behind the nearby desk.

It probably would be good for him to get a library card set up, as Francis was sure that he would be stopping by often. Shoving his hands into the pockets of his jeans, his blue eyes scanned the different selections. Was he in the mood for some Ficton or Non Fiction? Humming a tune to himself, he passed a few shelves of books before finally coming to a random stop.

"Hm.. Books on poetry." He pondered out loud, pulling one hand out of his pocket so that he could stroke his fingers over the bindings of each book in front of him. He knew a lot of kitsunes enjoyed poetry, though sometimes the words confused him. Perhaps poetry wasn't something he should check out right now.

Up above, many rows of books spanned the walls in the surrounding area. His gaze stayed, for a moment, in that direction out of some absent curiosity. Although Sulfur hadn’t yet gone through the books that were level with his person and that he could reach, that indirect question-based tone held out for a quarter of a minute before he shifted his line of sight back down toward the shelf just ahead. The hold he currently had on a few books that were already picked out shifted, so that the novels in his possession were moved to one arm, while he reached out with his free one toward a cover that had stood out in perspective. Once pulling it out from the row, the novel was turned away from its side so that he could see the cover, “The Heart of the Matter”. The title was something vaguely familiar and it drew his attention initially, causing Sulfur to turn it around to read the overview.

A few seconds scan was followed by a brief note; the certainty there was obvious; and the book he was holding up was set away with the others in a careful motion. Sulfur turned away from the shelves then; his pace started up once more toward another wall. Even when it might have been a better idea to stay to one section, choosing different categories while wandering around wasn’t the worst method for this. It didn’t always mean he picked out something that seemed interesting; while books tended to be more about their contexts than whether they were likeable, something that he knew could be seen differently but that he held as a general fact. There was a pass by a few tables and other people either sitting or looking around before he ended up at another shelf; Sulfur then briefly checked around the immediate area. After that pause, his attention moved again, this time toward the various titles that stood out against the wood lining, but they weren’t yet aimed for, that not yet decided on.

"For a new beginning

Once more he was forced out of the bookstore as it was not his day to work, plus they wanted him out as he tended to swipe the books they were supposed to be selling so he could read them first. He asserted it was so he could give better recommendations, but still it was missing stock and missing stock doesn't turn a profit. So he was once more in the library as it kept his brain engaged and it was free. With shifts getting cut and his determination to finally get a place of his own, he hadn't afforded himself anything to eat thus far that day. Well, so long as he didn’t stumble across any cookbooks…

Steering away from the danger zone, he scanned the shelves, not really sure what he was looking for, half-tempted to just pull a book at random and see if it was anything he would be interested in. As he scanned the stacks, he noticed someone else nearby, someone who didn’t look one hundred percent human. That was the strange thing about this place: he knew most of the people weren’t all together human, but at least they were good at pretending and looking like they were. So he supposed this guy was one of the few naturally honest ones in the area, not that that really mattered, appearances could be misleading after all. He picked a book at random then looked at the cover, quirking an eyebrow as he noted the subject: Norse mythology. Wonder what my folks did so wrong to get stuck with our name… Glancing back over at the other guy, he gave him a slight nod. ”Random pick or you actually looking for something? I don’t actually work here, but I know where a lot of stuff is.” Stupid town was so damn friendly, he kind of had to be a good person in order to not stand out anymore than he already did. Standing out was a bad move in his profession.

"These vengeful thoughts trapped underneath
Rage, scorn, misery
Payback for what you took from me
Hope, love, sanity
I heard that you reap what you sow
So here's to believing in ghosts
Now when you see my face you’ll know
You can't save yourself
Or save your soul
When you meet the man whose life you stole
With weathered wings and broken bones
A flight for the fallen flies the crow"

Indecision and other tones hovered around Sulfur’s mind for a few seconds as he stood where he had ended up, the scrutiny toward the bookshelves lasted about the same duration. Although he was still alert, his attention partly to the surroundings to his sides, it wasn’t until someone spoke up from nearby that this demeanor and his line of sight shifted, in a move off to the right. The nod he had been given wasn’t missed, but almost was, the same not quite as true for the fact the other was holding a book and hadn’t seemed to come around suddenly either, by that realization and others that passed by. The look over to the other man transitioned with an attempt to marginally step around so that he was more facing the other, and it wasn’t more than a moment before his response was passed forward; although still keeping a note toward his own books on-hand, so that they wouldn’t slide or fall to the floor.

It was mostly random: that seemed like the best way to decide on books.” Not yet giving out any further information within that statement, there was a cautiousness to his demeanor but not his words, which held a more thoughtful sort. After saying this, there was a pause before continuing, going off what had been further. “I haven’t been here before, while it’s usually how I browse.” That could have made it seem like he was new to town, or was wealthy enough to not check anything out from the library, but this wasn’t elaborated on either, not yet. Instead, a question came around next. “If you know where things are, would there be a historical fiction section?” It wasn’t anywhere in the immediate area, as far as he knew, yet it still could be faster to get directions here than walking down to the help desk; even if he didn’t entirely know whether he could trust the other’s statement in that sense. If not, only time would be lost; there wasn’t a far chance anything would happen, something he was sure of given the setting.

He appreciated the random factor, suggested that the other male was fairly intelligent, or at least intelligent enough to be confident he could follow most material. It also suggested the man had a bit of spare time, which wasn't quite as telling on a Sunday, but it was still a detail he noted. Upon hearing the question, he closed his eye for a moment and muttered under his breath, "fiction...eight hundred...historical...zero eight." He opened his eye, alighting upon the first range marker he could find in order to reorient himself. "Five aisles over that way, third case second shelf to seventh case bottom shelf." Finally his eye would focus back on the person he was supposedly speaking with. "If you were looking for a specific author, I could maybe guess more of that call number, but I don't really spend much time in that section, so I don't remember it so well. But that should be enough info to narrow your search." Yes, that was him not remembering well. More often than not his impeccable memory was a nuisance, but every now and again it could be put to good use, if directing someone in a library constituted good use.

Krotak remained perched upon Erik's shoulder, rather bored by the whole scene and definitely more interested in the books than what was being discussed. Though even he had to admit that the…individual standing before him was definitely unique. Mostly he had just seen idiots around town, then there was the half-idiot he worked with, and not too long ago he had met a glowbug, but this…um…he wasn’t sure what he was looking at exactly, was definitely new and different. The bird fluttered off and settled upon a table, expecting Erik to follow along soon after. ”Sorry about him, he’s a bit of a jerk. It was not his primary intention to insult.” Should he have apologized for the stupid bird? Maybe most people would have just assumed it was a bird being a bird, but because Erik could actually understand Krotak, he always felt some sort of compulsion to translate his actions. Oh well, not like he really expected to make friends or anything.

After having put facts ahead, there was a moment of self-introspection; but this wasn’t enough that it drew Sulfur’s attention entirely away from the person ahead. It might have seemed odd to the other man; that was a thought that passed by before it was proven wrong; this was set away. Once his focus shifted in asking where the historical section was, a pause and moment of thought started up; the silence from that didn’t last that long but still drifted through the ambiance. After that brief span, words started up under the other’s breath; a short question passed through Sulfur’s expression, and this also went away quickly. In a moment, the other man looked ahead again but to the side for a moment, and an answer from him was picked up on. Sulfur did not yet move to face the aisle entirely, but turned his head slightly and line of sight further for a second to peer in that direction. After confirming that was right; there was a shift in focus ahead again.

A nod, after the other finished speaking, was followed by a verbal response; in that time Sulfur had taken up and mostly gotten down the numbers that had been lined out. That he could name the aisles and shelf count stood out as a thought, but this was also set aside after a moment. "It should be enough, thanks. I don’t have anyone in mind yet, but I’ll probably find a few." It possibly wasn’t the best response, while that detached concern wasn’t anything that stayed around long either.

Almost right after saying that, the raven or crow on the other’s shoulder turned and flew down to a table nearby; Sulfur shifted in place in indirect realization of that, the look back by the bird creating a sense of impatience. Around the same moment, his attention went back to the person ahead; the apology got a subtle shake in response; this context was taken at face-value. Even if there wasn’t something behind the sudden drift off, what the other man seemed to imply was still held as significant. "I don’t mind; or I’m not bothered. He seems to have his own opinions." This was stating the obvious, or maybe not; Sulfur wasn’t too sure, but it was still passed ahead. The hold he had on his books shifted unconsciously, Sulfur not yet moving in the direction of the historical section; instead hovering where he was for now, in case the other still wanted to talk.

He realized that it would probably seem strange that he could recall the Dewey Decimal System that easily, but maybe it wasn't too strange for a frequent patron of the library. What was definitely strange was the fact that he could narrow down the range to specific shelves even though historical fiction wasn't really his thing. At least he didn't have to seek out a particular author: then he would only be able to guess at the call number, and he hadn't paid enough attention to the shelves to be able to know which authors were on which shelves. At least he hadn't gotten any obvious looks of incredulity, so either the person in front of him had no idea how humans worked, or he was good at masking his emotions. He gave a slight shrug when the horned dude said he had no one in particular he was looking for. "Fair. Wouldn't experience much if you never tried anything." And that definitely sounded like he was just saying random s**t to avoid an awkward pause.

Fortunately, the dude seemed pretty chill about Krotak's abrupt exit. "His opinion is that he doesn't really care about people and he wants to read the book I've got cause he loves Norse mythology." He was about to say something else when Krotak interrupted him. To most, it would just sound like a bird quietly cawing in an annoyed tone, but Erik (and anybody else who could understand animals) would hear him say "quit talking with the damn steer! Or if you're going to be an a**, at least quit holding the book hostage." Erik shot the bird a glare before turning back to the guy he had been talking with. "I should probably let you go find your books, or else that dumb bird is going to mutiny. But you can join our table if you want." With that he took his leave and joined Krotak at the table he had chosen. "Idiot, if you keep acting independent of me, they are going to revoke you service license. Which means you would be stuck either outside or living with me. News flash: where we live doesn't allow pets either. Have fun being an outdoors bird." Krotak glared but kept his beak shut, instead flapping a little to perch on Erik's shoulder. Erik opened the book up and began speed reading the material; Krotak took much longer as he was not nearly as good of a reader, but also because it was his task to make sure that no one snuck up on Erik's blind side.

At the statement passed ahead, there wasn’t much of a direct response; Sulfur’s shift and alert, yet impassive look was a held-back response in exchange for speaking further. If he said anything else, that seemed like it would add to the depth and tone already around here; instead, there was a short nod by him. That it might have been about as bad, something acknowledged, was still a thought that went away right after it came around; but a lot had happened so far that might have fit the awkward tone here right now, retrospect calling up some of his own words over the past few minutes. This didn’t last long as a though either: after the crow or raven left the area, there was a brief pause, Sulfur taking a moment to try to put a response together. After he did, what he got back brought up an unconscious flash of humor, the demon holding back a small laugh but still letting out a short breath. Something was nearly said after that, but not quite. “He—

This was drawn away from, by the quiet caw from the nearby bird, that they were muted not lost within his perspective. Although the other person looked like he had been about to say something, Sulfur’s attention was also briefly drawn away to the raven as well. To the side, they got a glare from the other, but his line of sight and confused tone moved off as his focus shifted back from the apparent draw for attention by the raven.

Briefly, but unconsciously again nodding, a reply was passed along further. “—Thanks.” After the other started to move away, Sulfur turned and started off in the direction of the shelves mentioned. There was a look up and to the side, keeping his attention to the numbers that were spaced along the rows. Eventually, reaching the ones that had been mentioned, the area there was passed down; several minutes went by and a few books were taken out from their places. None seemed too familiar, but that was sort-of what he had been thinking. Holding them in a stack with the few others from earlier, his pace out from the section was somewhat careful, not wanting to drop any.

In a pass down the direction he had come from, a couple tables were passed up nearby; Sulfur stopping around the second or third one. After a short pause, his voice started up. “If it’s still fine…?” After asking that, his drift over to the table started, slowing to move past someone going a different direction.
