Having both played it and ran it, I can say this:
Player - Very easy to get into, details in the starter kit are easy to understand, though other nuances (such as advantage/disadvantage) is something to work through. Backgrounds give players a better sense of immersion, as they always have a fallback point when they enter towns/cities.
DM - Incredibly easy to run (though the format of the adventure book is horrendous...seriously, why flip to stat blocks?).

I've heard mixed things about 5e so far, and haven't had a chance to delve into it myself. I've been pretty busy. Currently, I work for a healthcare company and anyone in the US knows what fiasco healthcare has been, so I've been really busy working. Not doing much else, I'm afraid!
Still, I'll keep an eye out about how this unfolds. 3nodding

I'm curious about giving it a try myself, I'll be looking forward to see if anything shapes up. Heck, maybe Rain can try being a player instead of a GM this time? I think we've been planning to play some kind of a team-up and having it fall out for a while now.

Ha. Fish, I was JUST thinking about that, mainly due to how I was recently reminded how awesome dwarves are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytWz0qVvBZ0I've been doing tons of overtime, including a 6th day to my workweek. I may have been mentally writing a campaign when I was supposed to be concentrating on work. It may involve dwarves in a mountain. Also, a lesson I learned too late into this guild's run, is that I would cap the game at 3 players.

If that's the plan I'll need a 5e resource, which I'm planning to look into soon. But yeah, small, handpicked group seems ideal for anything planned to run into a full campaign and not single-adventure in the guild.
And dwarves are awesome. I've only made about two (you met one, the other was a burglar-rogue with 6 charisma and higher int than dex) but they're some of my favorite characters.
I'm crossing my fingers that my work will include overtime and Saturdays, but hopefully not as much as yours has been. @____@
