Juni's ears popped as the plane began it's final descent toward the family's private airstrip in Pitalito, Colombia, and she stretched, sat up, and made her way back to her seat to buckle in and watch the familiar mountains of home come out of the clouds through the window. Traveling home from school at Ouran was always such a chore - 20 hours of flying, with a stop-over in Dallas, Texas to refuel. But this time, she had a friend with her, which had made the flight much less of a giant coding marathon, and much more convivial. She glanced at Shiny's unoccupied seat, and smiled. The flight attendant would wake her in time to buckle in if she was sleeping, or perhaps she was getting a snack from the mini-kitchen. She'd heard that some of the international students at Ouran occasionally had to fly first-class to get home. Juni shuddered at that thought - to not be able to lie down and actually sleep properly on the flight...well, that was a horrible thought. Still, soon, they'd be off the plane, and Juni realized she had no idea whether her friend would want a day or two to recover from the travel - or if she'd be ready to go exploring right off the mark. She pulled up the list of places she'd thought Shiny might like to go see, and paged through it, while she waited for her friend to take her seat for landing.

In truth, Shiny had not actually managed to sleep a wink during the entire flight. The sensation of being up in the sky was always an unsettling one for the fallen star, who felt as though somehow the others of her kind were that much more likely to notice her for being a mile or two closer to their realm. It was silly, but even with all the flying she did to Calais for the Rayonnant family she had never really been able to shake it. At that moment she was reluctantly pulling herself away from the cockpit, where she had finally cajoled the flight crew into allowing her to quietly sit in the back and observe the pilots as they worked. However, after observing that the pretty young passenger had managed to stay there for more than an hour without once looking bored, the rather young and also bored first officer (whose role it was to act as a spare pilot in case anything happened to the Pilot or Co-Pilot) had decided to quietly give her an unofficial lesson in what everything was. Three hours later, and with a promise to send him a really lovely amethyst pendant for his mother's upcoming birthday, Shiny was shooed out of the cockpit by a somewhat reluctant, maybe-just-a-little-bit-dazzled first officer so that she could return to her seat for the final descent. She came bouncing back to where she'd left her friend with a glowing, enthusiastic smile. "I never knew airplanes had so many buttons and gauges! Did you know there's an entire panel each devoted to just the wings? Not even the engines, but all the flaps and panels and drag coefficients. It's fascinating!"

Juni grinned. "I can believe that entirely," she said cheerfully, having switched to Spanish upon hearing the familiar call for descent, and thus not having to worry about her accent or picking the right words - for once. "There are checklists for everything, to make sure that all the switches are set correctly, and the plane is doing everything it is supposed to do, and nothing it shouldn't. There are flight simulators, even, and video games for that. Piedro - one of my cousins - was airplane mad for a whole year right after he turned twelve. Don't let him know you're interested or he'll never stop talking about them to you." She handed her tablet over to Shiny as her friend sat down. "Do you want to play tourist the first few days, or go see my family first? Or a little of each? I warn you, they're as manic as the Host Club on some days, but they are most of them good people." She grinned crookedly. "And if you don't want to see them for too terribly long, I completely understand. Papa tells me you have to grow up in the mayhem to be used to it. So I thought maybe we could visit my family for a day or two, and then I would give you a list of places to see, and you could pick, since you haven't been to my country before. They are grouped by geography, since I didn't want to spend the whole trip traveling from one place to another - there's too much time on a plane just to get home as it is. Or we could play tourist first, and end with my family."

((( Shall we start this over again? Or do it as winter break? I *would* enjoy taking it to completion, albeit at a leisurely pace given the hectic-ness of my life. But if we do winter break, it'd be summer in Colombia. )))

Little Miss Shiny (Yes, let's! Do we want to continue or do winter break?) (I'm good either way; I suspect Juni would enjoy taking folks back to Colombia for Christmas, though, because there's a lot of very pretty stuff that happens then.)

(( Sounds good to me! I certainly have no plans for Christmas, as the Ootori family doesn't celebrate it aside from using it to strengthen connections with their foreign partners ... ))

Little Miss Shiny (Alrighty then, winter break it shall be! It looks like it was my post last, do we want to continue from that point or skip ahead to some different time?) (Why don't you do a quick post about something Shiny would like to see, and then we can elide forward a half day or so? I'm assuming Kyouya is flying on a different plane, as originally I believe the plan was him meeting us in Colombia. If you pose something that will let us do a timeskip forward, we can all meet up at the penthouse suite that Juni's family keeps at a fancy hotel in Pitalito so they have someplace to sleep when they get off the plane, and we can start with Kyouya arriving there.)

(sigh. I'm going to be honest with myself. I want to continue this, but I know my motivation is just completely gone now. I think you guys might be better off pulling Shiny from this scene, because without that motive I'm going to suck at being anything resembling reliable. I'm sorry sad )
