This is a special evening, where I live. Bonfires are lit all over the country, fireworks are sparkling, male choirs are singing of spring and everyone is having a rather cozy time. It's quite a magical thing to witness, and an old tradition. And it is indeed romantic...
Back in the days, and even some of the years nowadays, winter would last long into spring. Therefor, the coming of spring is not celebrated until April turns to May. Doing this, massive bonfires are lit, which traditionally where made from things that people threw away during spring cleaning.
This year, I won't be going to any fire, but I still feel I ought to do something. So therefor, I wrote a little something to share with all of you. emotion_bigheart
"Tonight, we're leaving out the old
To celebrate the new
It is a magic night, I'm told
That I will share with you
The winter left the flowers dead
But now they are returning
Spring and summer lies ahead
While things of past are burning
By the fire, holding hands
People come together
All across these barren lands
They pray for warmer weather
And here you're standing, right beside
Looking at the fire
Which can't compare to heat inside
As smoke is rising higher
When fireworks begin to fly
I hold your hand so tight
I rather look into your eye
Sparkling twice as bright
So burn what winter threw away
By ashes, make it known
We're moving for a brighter day
Where no one is alone"
