Just another day at the Host Club... Shiny had come to the music room straight from her ballet class, as usual, and made her way into the back to slip into one of the dressing rooms and change from her dance attire into the standard girls' uniform, with its overly puffy sleeves and sunny yellow color that made her skin glow with warmth - what skin showed, anyways. Once she'd donned a pair of butter-soft kid gloves she emerged into the main room, her attention momentarily on buttoning the delicate ivory clasp at her wrist before she looked up to see what guests were in need of attention.

The young man who sat at a table waiting for his requested hostess was of an olive-tan complexion and shin-length black hair that was brushed back. His heterochromic eyes fixed on Shiny as she entered the room, raising the forearm he'd rested on the table in greeting as he cast her a cheshire cat grin.
"Well...so this is Shiny Rayonnant. Cute name. I can see it suits you in more ways than one," he remarked, nodding at her appearance. "I'm honored to have the pleasure of your company, Miss Shiny. Please call me Kit."

Catching sight the one who waved towards her she realized with a bit of a start that she had, in fact, been requested. How very curious! Nearly all of their guests came for the Hosts, not the Hostesses, so it was quite a surprise that someone would specifically ask for her company. A delightful and intriguing surprise, to be sure, one that had her smiling with a touch more warmth than was usual even for the radiant beauty as she approached. When she arrived next to his table she gave a small, polite bow in greeting. "Good afternoon! I am delighted to meet you, Kit-san. Have you visited with us before?" She thought she might have remembered the boy's striking eyes, but couldn't be quite certain of it.

"Just once," he answered, holding up a finger for emphasis. "You were all pretty busy, though, so I just sat back and watched. Do you enjoy being a hostess?" he asked, tilting his head. Kit gestured causally to the seat across from him. "I hope you plan to sit sometime during our session; I'd hate for you to have to stand for its whole duration. Unless you'd rather sit here," he added teasingly, patting his lap. "I wouldn't mind."

Her smile turning just a bit puzzled, and a little bit wary, at his offer for her to perch on his lap. She was reasonably certain that was not a very proper thing to suggest... "Before I sit with you, is there anything you'd like me to get from the kitchen? Some tea, or perhaps something to eat?" Not to worry, she'd get to his questions. Just had to get the formalities out of the way first, of course!

"Thanks, but I'm just fine," Kit assured her, shaking his head as he chuckled at her reaction. "Wouldn't want to waste what precious time I have with you, angel-face. If I make you nervous at any time, though, feel free to tell me. We can end our session early if you're not comfortable." His smile never seemed to waver. "Hostess or not, I'd hate to keep a girl around against her will."

"Hostess or not, I'd hate to keep a girl around against her will." Angel-face...? She was fairly certain the only time she'd ever heard that phrase used was in a movie about mafia guys. But if she remembered correctly, it was also supposed to be a compliment, so she just let it go and slid gracefully into the seat opposite him. "I promise, if I feel uncomfortable I will let you know." A faint glimmer of amusement in the curve of her lips as she spoke. "And as to your previous question, I love being a hostess. I meet so many new and interesting people, and I adore the opportunity to bring a smile to each of their faces. And the other hosts are all so very welcoming, they really do treat the club as a second family."

"Seems that way," Kit agreed. He propped his elbows up onto the table and laced his fingers together, resting his chin atop them. "But those all sound like things you can do without being a hostess."
His gaze fell upon her gloves and his raised his brows. "Huh...don't remember gloves being part of the girls' uniform around here. You cold?"

His gaze fell upon her gloves and his raised his brows. "Huh...don't remember gloves being part of the girls' uniform around here. You cold?" "Oh? How would I be able to go about meeting people, talking, and sharing with them, and having the opportunity to provide them with a place they can feel comfortable and welcomed and cherished, without being a part of the host club?" Her question was utterly sincere, she genuinely wanted to know about these other opportunities - likely so she could participate in those in addition to the host club. When he mentioned her gloves however she glanced down at her hands, her expression turning more than slightly self-conscious. "They are not required uniform. I, ah... feel more comfortable, wearing them." Soft smile offered.

"There are parties, sleepovers, lunch get-togethers, shopping sprees...it's really not all that hard," he answered gently, sensing she may have been a little more sheltered than most. "Ever done any of those?"
At her explanation regarding her gloves, he asked, "Mind if I ask why, or would that be too nosy of me?"

At her explanation regarding her gloves, he asked, "Mind if I ask why, or would that be too nosy of me?" She shook her head, smiling softly. " Non, not before the Host Club. I lived in seclusion in my family's seat in Calais before I came to Ouran for this past semester. If not for Kyouya-san, whom I met during an open house at another school altogether, I would never have come here, and never had such a warm, welcoming environment to make the friends that I could do all those things with. It is not so strange, is it, that I should wish to provide the same opportunity for someone else?" When he asked further about the gloves she hesitated, then visibly squared her shoulders and forced herself to continue smiling, rather than fidget. "I have a skin condition that I find embarrassing and do not like showing off, so I try to keep my skin covered."

"Mmm...so that 'open house' event wasn't a place you felt you could make friends? You are friends with this Kyouya guy, aren't you?" He shook his head, still grinning. "Nah, not strange at all. The only thing I find funny about it is that you seem to think that the Host Club is the only place to feel that way; to provide that opportunity to others. Really, it can be anywhere you want it to be as long as you always make people feel that way wherever there are people to be met."
Smirking, Kit dropped one arm down on the table and supported his cheek on his other fist. "If you find it embarrassing, why use the term 'showing off'? Isn't that generally reserved for people who are proud of what they have?" He held out his hand to her. "C'mon. Let's see it."

Her smile returned and she chuckled, shaking her head lightly, "You misunderstand. I do not think that this is the only place where I can be a positive influence and make friends. It is, rather, the place I know, though I do indeed try to do the same wherever I am. I had hoped you knew of other organizations I could look into in addition." Her expression changed to a slight frown as she considered his next words, "Perhaps 'showing off' is not the correct term. I do still trip up on the language difference at times, my apologies. What I mean is..." She paused to consider her words, though whatever she might have said next was thoroughly derailed by his insistence on her showing him her skin. " Non! As I just said, I am not comfortable showing my condition, I am hardly going to parade it around on request like some... some carnival exhibit."

"Oh, sure," he answered, "But do they have to be 'organizations'? Why not just plan a party someplace and invite everyone over? Not everything has to be as meticulously organized as a club, does it? Spontaneity is half the fun! For example," he continued, "what do you say to going out with me to the nearest park this evening and we do some star-gazing?"
"'Non'?" he repeated, laughing. "Okay, what language is that?" Upon hearing her following remark, however, his laughter faded and his smile morphed into something apologetic. "Sorry, sweetheart. The way I see it, it's your discomfort with yourself that makes you a carnival exhibit. What if you're the only one who thinks it's strange? Maybe you're the only one holding yourself back."

"That is French. As you might have noticed from my accent, I am from France." He wanted a bit of assertiveness, weeelll... he was getting it. "And I do not think this line of questioning into my personal life is appropriate for someone I have only just met. I have endured bullies once already, I am in no mood to be pushed anymore in directions I do not feel comfortable going." Shiny stood, her pleasant smile only thinly veiling the agitation simmering underneath. "You may wish to practice a bit more tact before asking a girl on a date. Please enjoy your afternoon, if there is anything else you may desire, one of the other hosts will be happy to see to your needs."
