Kyandiice DeLuna

It was a chilly evening in December, though not nearly so cold as some of the Augusts that Juni had survived in the Colombian mountains. It was not raining, it was not snowing, the wind was not biting...

...and Juni had handed in her final paper. Taken her final exam. Her father was coming down soon, to fly with her home to Colombia and her family - a change in their plans, when they had decided to stay in Japan for the Christmas break originally, perhaps, but after the term she had had, he had decided it was necessary.

Juni wasn't sure how she felt about the idea of missing the winter festival; the opportunity to spend some time with her friends without the ever-present threat of being kicked out had some appeal. But she was tired. It had been a hard term. And she wasn't sure her father was wrong in his belief that she would recover faster with her family's support to bolster her, even though she would see memories of Mama everywhere she looked when they got back.

Especially when it was possible that she would not be back. She didn't know whether Akinora-sensei was going to follow through on his threat to fail her, or just give her such an abysmally low grade as to make it very difficult for her to stay, but either way, she wasn't sure her father would let her stay at Ouran in an environment that tolerated such toxic attitudes.

So Juni decided to climb the bell tower. It had been taunting her all term, daring her to take the challenge to come up. But she had been being quiet and well-behaved. Well, if she was going back to her family, she figured she'd better remember how to be a bit badly behaved, just so she didn't get smothered under a dogpile of cousins.

Perhaps it had been a trick of the eyes like some of her fellow classmates had said. But as Kyandii had been leaving the main building, she could've swore she had seen someone or something making it's way up the bell tower. It had just been her luck that she was the only one to have seen it though, and that warranted her the teasing of a few male classmates. 'Watch out, DeLuna. The Witch's Curse will get you.'

Challenge accepted. Pricks. "T'ch. I'll drag that stupid witch down by her hair if I have to..." She'd be lying if she said she wasn't a little hesitant in approaching the bell tower all alone, there was a part of her that actually feared curses(for good reason)--- not that anyone knew this or she would let know of this matter... ever. Somehow her stubbornness overpowered her fear though, and she made her way up the stairs of the tower with a surprising pace. The problem lay in the fact that what she saw was on the outside of the tower though.

Back tracking down a few floors, she was able to find a window that actually opened and allowed her to crawl outside of it.

( Wow. I didn't get quoted about this(or I missed it). So I'm very sorry about the late reply! Also a little unsure if Juni had actually started climbing or not. But I can change my post if necessary. c: )

(( No worries about the late reply. And yes, she's climbing the outside. ))

Juni didn't know anything about curses, witches, or other weirdnesses associated with the belltower. As far as she was concerned, it was the tallest thing on campus, and it had a well-maintained brick facade with a number of interesting things poking off the side of it that she could use to brace herself on on her way up.

And even if she did find out about some curse, she didn't believe in magic. The Black Magic Club was a joke, and back home, brujos were people who did weird things that never actually worked that she'd seen. Unlike science, where stuff was repeatable and even if it didn't make sense, it at least was repeatable. (Unless somebody messed up the procedure and didn't write down what they were doing.)

She paused halfway, sitting on a windowsill with her feet braced against a cornice and the wall, to catch her breath, and then blinked at the sound of an opening window nearby. Somebody was opening the window in winter? Uh oh.

She froze, and tried to quiet her breathing, hoping that whoever it was wasn't a teacher...
