Pregnant women selling used, positive pregnancy tests online
Lee Moran
September 2, 2013

"Expectant moms are selling their positive pregnancy test kits on Craigslist — and it seems there is no shortage of buyers.

Moms-to-be from across the U.S. are reportedly asking for between $20 and $40 to hand over the devices that confirm they are about to become a parent.

"Wanna get your boyfriend to finally pop the question? Play a trick on mom, dad or one of your friends?" asked one advertiser from New Jersey, reports The Daily Dot.

A woman in Manhattan's lower East Side wrote: "I'm pregnant and will sell you my positive pregnancy test for $20. I don't care what you need them for."

And another seller in Buffalo said she would happily part with her used sticks for $25 each.

But who would buy the bizarre goods?

One woman from Los Angeles said she wanted them to make a video on teen pregnancy for her local boys and girls club.

And a potential buyer from Dallas said she wanted revenge on her ex-boyfriend who, after five years together, came home and said he'd gotten his receptionist pregnant.

"We had been trying for another (baby). He texted and said he isn't sure who he wants to be with and I think I handled it well for what a cheating lying dog he is," she wrote.

"I would like the last laugh out of this. I will give some girl $40," she added.
With cheap pregnancy tests selling online for just $1, it's easy to see why cash-strapped moms in the family way could be tempted to sell."

I don't blame pregnant women for selling them because I think that's mostly fueled by a genuine and desperate need for money.

But I think most of the buyers have really serious maturity issues.

If someone wronged you in some way, be the bigger person. Either forgive them and move on or cut them out of your life and move on. Don't stoop to petty revenge shenanigans.

If you want to marry your boyfriend, talk to him about it. You might think it would be less romantic if you have to ask for it. But really, is, "Oh, shoot, you're pregnant.... Now I feel obligated to marry you...." more romantic than something like, "I want to marry you too, I just want to wait until we can save up some more money to have a really nice wedding,"? Not to mention that how great can a marriage be if one person tricked the other into it? And he might dump/divorce you if he finds out about your deception anyway.

See. This is the type of stuff that makes me think keeping unused pregnancy tests around would be a good idea. Make sure there aren't any false positives.

Not that my girlfriend right now would do something like this but still. Oi.
