How do you save?

The worst part of preparing any trip, for me at least, is saving money. I am the *worst* at saving money for anything. If I have money in the bank, I need to get it out of there, hahah. How do you guys save up so that you'll have enough money on the trip? And do you save just enough to scrimp by, or enough that you'll have a few luxuries?

I put all the money I'd want to use for Japan in my savings account, so I can't accidently spend it.

Everytime I want to buy something I first think to myself: 'What makes me happier; buying this item or buying *insert wanted item in Japan*?'

And it's no fun to be in Japan without enough money to do some fun things. If you don't want to feel financially restricted all the time it's best to save up enough for 'luxuries' as well. At least that's what I think, because I don't go to Japan all that often, so if I do I'd like to be able to travel, visit some people I haven't seen in ages and buy lots of souvenirs smile
