the stupid 55 ended up leaking out of every corner on the bottom tonight. managed to get all four fish into a bucket although the pleco is floating in a cup in the heated tank.
hoping i can find someone to take them all but chances are they'll go to a pet store. i dont have the money or time to deal with this and i just cant.
this sucks

You got the tank at PetCo, right? Call them and have them replace it. They are pretty lenient on their return policy. If not, theres always craigslist. I've been finding full 55 set ups for 75 bucks!!
IMO, your problem is the stand. Its a piece of crap and it needs to go. The tank can live on the floor for a while.
Side note, resealing isn't hard. Just tedious. You have to strip all the silicone off, hold everything in place with masking tape, and run silicon in all the edges. Just takes a long time.

It was a tank that was like 20 years old that was in our shed. We should have replaced the silicone but we didn't think about it.
We rehomed the comet and the fantail to a greenhouse pond. I put the pleco and the oranda in the 20g and the betta in the 10g for now. We'll likely reseal the 55 at some point but probably not til it's a bit warmer.
