In high school, I learned that Romeo and Juliet was a tragic love story.

In college? I learned that Romeo and Juliet is a device Shakespeare used in order to place as many sexual innuendo and p***s jokes as he possible could in a play while also making fun of Catholics and the idea of passionate love. 8D

I mean. Let's look for a second.
Dude # 1: "They must take it in [through sensation] that feel it."
Dude # 2: "Me they shall feel while I am able to stand, and 'tis known I am a pretty piece of flesh."
[Insert line and some other dudes entering]
Dude # 1: "Draw thy tool. Here comes of the house of Montague."
Dude #2: "My naked weapon is out..."

I REST MY CASE.
Though my footnotes are awesome too. After pretty piece of flesh, my footnote is "An attractive fellow possessed of an impressive member." Why thank you, Norton, for that powerful description. I am brought to tears.

And we aren't even going into the sonnet where Shakespeare plays on the multiple uses of will/Will, specifically a wish, his name, and a slang word for p***s.

Somehow, this makes Shakespeare only more interesting and amusing.

I recommend a book called Naughty Shakespeare.

My classmates used to wonder why I snickered as we read Shakespeare in class. But with my dirty mind and making so many p***s jokes it's rather hard. *points at bad pun*

If you want to know how he really feels about love you should read his sonnets.

They taught us the dirty stuff in my drama class during high school. Then at UIL writing competition, my sister was asked to write about a sonnet of his. The judge was CLEARLY not well educated, because she took great offense to sister's "suggestions about Shakespeare".
