Subforum Rules

+ Follow Gaia TOS and Guild Rules.

+ You’re roleplay should include a plot, rules, and character skeletons.
You should have a plot that’s more than a one-liner, but not long enough to be a chapter. You’re RP must include rules. Please include in your rules that the rating is PG-13 and that there is to be no cybering. Please provide character skeletons for players and a link to the profile thread. Few people want to browse through pages to view someone’s self-posted profile.

+ No plagiarism.
You may ask to use someone’s plot, coding, or images, but please credit them once they give you permission. Otherwise, don’t take anything and call it your own. You’re likely to get caught with the number of people who frequent the guild.

+ No Harassment

+ Tagging
This will not be mandatory at first, but we highly recommend that you use specified tags in your titles to help players browse through RPs more easily. For information on how to tag your RPs, please check the third post (Mod can link or not).

+ Contact Moderators
If you have any questions, you may post them. If you have any problems, please contact a moderator. The captain, kaykeyser, is not to be contacted at any time. Please contact the mod in charge of the subforum that this problem or question pertains to. If posting, quoting will get you a reply much more quickly, as everyone is notified when they are quoted.

+ A Suggestion - Creativity
If you want to do something that's really common or done a lot (i.e. vampires, zombies, school RPs, vampires vs lycans), please make sure that there is not already one with available spots on the first through third pages of the subforum. It's really annoying to look for RPs and see that the only ones with openings are basically the same thing. If you don't want to join that one, at least wait until there a few less open ones with such a similar basic plot.

Also, be creative with your RPs. Spice them up. Cliches can become tiring so think of something new and interesting. Same goes for your characters. While it's easy to use the same/similar character all the time, it's good writing practice and a lot of fun to try different characters and character types. We've all seen the dark and "mysterious" tsundere and the typical good-intentioned hero. Try to branch out, even try something new that you aren't completely sure of. If you never leave your comfort zone, you never experience anything new and unexpected.

+ If your thread does not follow the given rules, your thread will be locked. It is your responsibility to contact a mod after you’ve changed the thread according to the rules. You will not be required to post and say that you have read the rules or to have something in your thread to show you have read them, but you will be held accountable whether you have read them or not. It’s your responsibility to take care of.

Tagging

We’re introducing a new system to RPFLA. It involves tagging the titles of your RPs to help with browsing. This is not mandatory at the moment, but as soon as we make sure the system is fine-tuned and working, we will start enforcing it until it becomes a part of the guild.

This will help players searching for RPs by giving labels of important information for the RPers to search. I understand that this leaves less room for titles, but a short title can be just as nice as a long one that uses the entire character limit. All the decorative symbols and sparkles can go in the first post. We’be tried to shorten them to save room.

Here are a list of tags by type and their meaning listed beside them.

[o/c] = Open/Closed

[1x1; 2x2; A #b #g; ] = 1x1 RP; 2x2 RP; Accepting # of Boys and # of Girls. Or if you have no gender requirements you may just use ‘A #’. If you have no limits, you may just put ‘A’. You may combine ‘A’ with 1x1 and 2x2 if you don’t have enough players, otherwise we will assume the them full and move them to the 1x1 forum. If your RP is full and not a 1x1 or 2x2, you may simply leave these off to show that it is full or no longer accepting.

[het; ya; yu] = ‘Het’ means that only heterosexual relationships are allowed. ‘ya’ stands for yaoi and ‘yu’ for yuri. Indicating none of these means that any of these relationships are fine.

[sem; lit; adv] = These are optional literacy levels. ‘sem’ stands for semi-literate, ‘lit’ stands for literate, and ‘adv’ stands for advanced literate. While ‘lit’ and ‘adv’ should be played in the Literate forum, the tags are here for advertising for players.

{Ad/Delete/Move} = This means that the topic is an advertisement for an RP in another genre that has yet to have enough players join after a day. Check below for how to set up an ad. Please change the tag to ‘Delete’ once enough players have joined. 1x1s do not require the Ad if they have the tag of ‘A’ but need to use ‘Move’ once the spots are filled. If you have the tags ‘Delete’ or ‘Move’ you do not need any other tags other than 1x1, 2x2s, and lit/adv (so we know where to move it).

Here’s a few examples of what a topic’s title should look like on the forum.

[o/A 3b 1g/sem] The Chosen Ones? Sorry, Not Us
The title of the RP is ‘The Chosen Ones? Sorry, Not Us’. It is open and accepting 3 boys and 1 girl. There is no relationship tag so it means that any are allowed. It is semi-literate.

[o/1x1 A 1b/het/lit] The Tiara and the Turncoat
This RP is open and accepting 1 boy. The pairings are hetero and it is a literate RP. As it is a 1x1, once a partner is found, it will look like this.

{Move}[1x1/lit] The Tiara and the Turncoat
The other things are no longer needed since roles are filled and it just needs to be moved to the Literate subforum. If it were a semi-lit, it would be moved to the 1x1 forum.

{Ad}[o/A 5] Huston, We Have an Alien Problem
This is what a typical non-1x1 ad looks like. As it is not the full RP, once it has enough players, it will look like this.

{Delete} Huston, We Have an Alien Problem

Advertisements

So you have an RP in a less-popular forum? It’s moved off the front page and you still have only a few players. So you give it one good bump. Later you check to see that you still don’t have enough players and it’s off the front page again. You bump again and the same happens. You bump for a third time and become discouraged, as you know the mods don’t like more than 3 bumps, even if it’s moved off the front page. You’ve tried the RP partner search in the subforum and no takers. So what are you to do?

You can make an ad in another forum, that’s what. It’s a new feature introduced to RPFLA, or at least a revised feature. We are now allowing you to advertise your RPs in another genre if it can obviously fit into the other genre.

So here’s how this works:

+ If your RP has been up for longer than 24 hours and does not have enough players, you may post an advertisement in another genre that fits.

+ You must place {Ad} and use other appropriate tags before your title.

+ You should put these and only these into your ad: Title, main-genre, and Intro; Story; Open spots; and a link to the original RP. Please do not post your skeletons.

+ 1x1s do not need the tag {Ad} but should specify that they are accepting. Once they are full, they need to add {Move} to the beginning of their title and leave the ‘1x1’ tag so that we know where to move them.

+ Once your RP is full, change the {Ad} in your title to {Delete}. (Unless it is a 1x1/2x2)

+ Do not have an ad for the same RP in more than one forum.

+Do not bump your ads more than ONCE and then, only after another 24 hours have passed.

+Do not post an ad for an RP not in this guild. Those go in the subforum for out-of-guild advertisements.

If your RP does not have enough players after posting an Ad and bumping only once, perhaps you should go to the ‘RP OOCs, Test Threads, And Soundboarding’ to get some opinions on things to change and why you aren’t getting enough players. Soundboarding is not for Advertising, but for constructive criticism and idea-bouncing.
