an international language forum where people speak like french and spanish and you have to respond in the same language as the post so if the title is spanish you have to respond in spanish so that you have a place to feel more at home because lets face it. ALL OF THE GUILD RESPONSES ARE IN ENGLISH so if i post up a response in french or spanish no one is gonna be able to understand what i say so i feel that my talents are wasted with out a subforum or topic that stays on the main page who else is with me?

I'd love to have a forum like that. It would give me a chance to practice the other languages I speak.

I second the motion! I speak Spanish and I hate how horrible people are in the main forums when someone who doesn't speak English posts something there.

The problem is we had an international subforum and it kinda failed sweatdrop Not that I think it's a bad idea just it didn't work in the past so people might not want to try again. You're more than welcome to put some foreign language threads elsewhere in the guild but it'd need the dedication to keep it alive

Hey, me too! Our option is posting videos, but that's time-consuming. Or posting in gloss, which looks really strange to other people, I'm sure.

Ok, I’m done. Go back to your babble Hey, me too! Our option is posting videos, but that's time-consuming. Or posting in gloss, which looks really strange to other people, I'm sure.Hey! Sushi is talking! yum_shrimp yum_onigiri gloss? Fear the Sushi! yum_tamago Glossing ASL is the way you use written English to document ASL grammar structures. It's written in mostly capital letters and uses special symbols and abbreviations to notate what kind of sign is meant, and facial grammar is marked above the segments where it's required. So if I wanted to gloss the ASL equivalent of "Hi, my name is Irako, what's yours?" it could look like this:
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxwh-q HI MY NAME fs-IRAKO, YOUR NAME WHAT?
There's other ways to translate that phrase, and the gloss would change accordingly. The "fs" means fingerspelling and the "wh-q" means to draw your brows down in the wh-question expression. And believe me, that example is ridiculously simple. You just wait until you're asked to gloss five seconds of somebody describing the opening scenes of E.T. and put down every single sign and facial expression. It took me two single-spaced pages to do that properly.
Gloss is useful to people when they're giving speeches or presentations in ASL. You can put it on notecards without having to think in English as much to read them. Teachers vary a lot in how strictly they grade student glosses, too, so there's not a specific standard you're supposed to learn if you want to gloss. Each teacher will have their own way of doing it.
