"God" isn't really his name, but I felt convicted that it wasn't right to use that phrase. I think it's been over a year that I stopped using it. It debases him into some empty, frivolous phrase. He's the creator of the universe. Should we really be tossing his name around like it's some common word? He's not common/profane, he's holy. I think it's disrespectful. Taking his name in vain includes more than just using his name in senseless phrases. It also means that you shouldn't swear in his name and fail to fulfill that promise, nor should you live a lifestyle that reflects badly on his name/reputation.

I think it depends on how it is used and what it is used for

There is power in the name of God and it should be treated as such.

Not exactly. So many people use that today! "Oh my God" is an expression.

But when you say the other two words, that refer to God, that is saying His name in vain.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is different then these two, and if you wish for me to discuss this I can. But please let me know, because it's pretty complex.
