This strange nebula in deep space is one of wonder and mystery. As most nebula create stars, this one doesn't. No trace of fusion commonly found at the heart's of baby stars. One thing that this nebula has that no other one has is a dormant worm hole, leading to space and time unknown...

Captain's Log: Star Date 22528.9
This is the first log of Captain Nathan Echon of the U.S.S. Bohrok Kal. We are currently on a quick sensor sweep mission of a newly discovered nebula that isn't showing signs of traditional fission. Starfleet believes that this mission is something that me and my current crew will be able to preform as we await on the rest of our crew. Admittedly, I'm not excited on having to wait for the other three fourths of my crew, it does put a lot of pressure on everyone to double and even triple up on duties, but I'm not about to lodge petty complaints up the chain of command.
So until then, we will preform this mission and by the time we get back to space dock, the rest of my crew will be ready for this Odyssey Class Star Cruiser.

The edge of the Rifle's Spiral Nebula was silent, the wisping trails of star dust and gas fluttered softly in the current of solar winds from distant stars, like a flag in a soft summer's breeze. At first glance, there was nothing off about this nebula aside from the beauty and wonder with the eyes of those whom gazed upon it. The alluring blue gas that was alive with life surrounded the nursery of this clam's precious pearl: A dormant wormhole to worlds unknown. No one has seen this wormhole yet, but one ship was about to make a ground breaking discovery as the boom of warp field diluted around one of the finest ships of the sector: The U.S.S. Bohrak Kal.
Even before the ship arrived, the crew of this majestic ship were hard at work analyzing and scanning from afar to see if the rumors were true about the hidden treasure this blue wonder held within it's belly. But they needed to get closer, even to go inside of the nebula itself to get a first hand look themselves.
The impulse thrusters that sat upon the chevron section of the ship came to life as the ship begun to move towards the nebula. The warp nacelles trailing behind while the ship slowly pushed forward and then into the Rifle's Spiral Nebula. These fearless explorers were about to discover a great find right in their own backyard.

"Captain, all systems normal. Sensors are picking up an unknown entity from the center of the nebula." The head science officer reported from his post. His posture changed from a more of a relaxed stance to alert as the Reman officer looked into the data more thoroughly. Something didn't seem to add up right from the reports and the current stream of data as his black pearl eyes danced from each holographic consul with unease. He could also sense his captain's unease about the mission as well.
"I can confirm a similar reading, sir. The gas is interfering with sensors on the object. I recommend that we use a probe to get a better look at it." Reported the ship's chief tactical officer announced as his scale like brow tensed a bit. Jem'hard re known for their stubbornness and natural courage, but his report to the captain made it feel like talking to a sphinx. He knew that the ship's captain was in a bad mood as is, and even though it was his job to give such a recommendation, he felt he should have chosen his words more carefully. Especially with short crew and short temper that his captain may have.
Sitting in the center chair of the darkened bridge, the captain leaned forward with an arm resting upon the arm rest and his bearded chin resting in the clenched hand of his arm. His dark hazel eyes gazed out from the view screen and the window beyond the screen, almost seeing beyond the haze of the gas clouds. His officers could cross check the data all they want, but his mind was seemingly putting the puzzle pieces together as his gaze sharpened.
"Helm!" The captain said after a good minute of silence as he changed his posture to sitting up straight and focused. "Take us in." His order projected while turning his head slightly over to watch his tactical officer, giving a slight smirk before his lips straighten back, his way of saying thanks for the suggestion.
"Rodger that, setting a course in, going to one quarter impulse." The helmsman stated as a soft vibration could be felt throughout the ship as it's powerful impulse engines came to life and the Odyssey Star Cruiser made headway deeper into the nebula.

It took no longer then a few minutes before the Star Cruiser left the thick clouds or gas that blotted the center of the nebula. The crew and sensors had reached their mark and were greeted with the soft glow that they were looking for: a dormant wormhole. The glowing embers of blue shades swirled around the closed doorway of the galactic passage way while all sensors were focused on this sleeping tunnel.
"This is it, sir. Our first dormant wormhole." Said the Reman as his nocturnal eyes gazed upon the new streams of data and mass before the ship. It was a great discovery in its own right as wormholes were erratic and never did have set points in space that they stayed for too long, except for the wormhole at Deep Space 9. It would be the second recorded fix point wormhole discovered.
"Indeed it is, but the question is where does it lead..." The captain wondered out loud. Part of him wanted to open the wormhole and see where it led, but the other part of him knew he should wait till Starfleet Command.

A few minutes passed as more data was streamed from the ship senors to the bridge of the Odyssey Star Cruiser. The Reman science officer was going over every bit of information that came across the holographic pixels that hovered off the display console. He was the only one making any sort of sound on the bridge while the captain sat with his thousand yard stare at the dormant worm hole. One of the advantages of beings an explorer was making such discoveries as this and it was an honor to discover this with less then a fourth of the ship's crew.
A few more minutes passed as the ships senors still whirled and computed the information with advance algorithmic programs. While everyone was still fixated with the data, the captain slowly rose from his seat. "I'll be in my ready room, Five, take the chair." He said, moving towards the room to the right of the bridge as the liberated Borg nodded his head and moved to the chair while Echon retired to his office.
Inside of the captain's ready room, Nathan took a slumped squat into his chair behind the mahogany desk, an antique of sorts at this day and age. He gave a small sigh of exhaustion and relief, so far this mission has been pretty smooth sailing with little to no issues, even with pulling double shifts by all.
"Computer, mocha with white chocolate and marsh mellows." He said with a slight bit of regret. The nearby replicator buzzed and lit up as the beverage was produced to the specifications Nathan asked for, but there was something about that didn't taste right for no matter how many times he fiddled with the machine it was quiet was he was hoping for. No matter, he did enjoy a mocha to no mocha to calm his nerves.
"Now we wait." He says before sitting up right and begins to fill out some reports that were needed tending too.

The captain was busy reading over every ounce of data that came from the ships sensors as he sipped his less then perfect mocha, a feeling of zen had washed over him while preformed his tasks at hand. Sure it was mundane, but the chair came with paperwork and it had to be done. "Blarg..." He softly says to himself, leaning back in his chair after sending the last report to Starfleet Command.
"When did we go from being explorers to being legislation?" Nathan rhetorically said before a chime was heard at his door. "Come in." He called out.
Without a moments hesitation, the door slide open and Ix'an, the ship's tactical officer reported in. "Sir." The Jem'Hadar said with a somewhat concerned look to his scaled forehead. "Hello, Ix'an. What can I do for you?" Nathan asked, not often his tactical officer would visit.
"I'm not sure if you've noticed, but we are getting a strange reading from the area that is blocking sub-space communications." The Jem'Hadar stated. Nathan gave a quizzical look before his eyes glanced to his computer. Sure enough, his reports were lit up with send errors as he sat up right.
"Ix'an, get back to your post and raise shields now!" The captain said as he knew what was about to happen, both men leaving the ready room.
"Red Alert! All Hands, Battle Stations!" Nathan ordered firmly, taking up his seat once more as the Borg officer quickly returned to his post. The entire ship took a completely different look as the bridge and all posts inside the ship took a red hue, ready for potential threats.
"Olyxan, status report!" Nathan request. The Reman was already move his information from his console to the main screen. "Sir, there are potential enemies in the sector. If I had to guess, I'd say Romulan ships and they are cloaked too. They are using the nebula's debris field to block all subspace communications. Until we can either get out of the nebula or dispatch their ships, we are alone." Olyxan stated as the information showed the captain exactly what he wanted to know.
"Five, can you work with Olyxan and try to get a work around their jamming sensors? Also see if you can force them to de-cloak too. I'd rather see what we're up against." Nathan gave his order to the Borg officer. Five gave a head nod in compliance and rushed to Olyxan's station, the pair starting to talk.
"Greetings, Captain." Echoed from the main view screen as the ship was hailed. "Romulan vessels, you are in Federation space. I suggest you leave now before you provoke a war that you and your people are unable to fight." Nathan gave an ultimatum, only accepting audio transmission.
"You think that one lost world would make us any less then a threat? That is a funny joke, human. Besides, we are not here to start a war, we have equal claim to this wormhole and We suggest that you leave now, or else the Federation will see nothing more then a ship lost to the debris field of the nebula." The Romulan commander taunted. Nathan was reluctant to take the threat, but not knowing how many their was started to influence his judgement.

The bridge stood silent. The crew was silent. The captain stood silent. It was what every captain hoped to never encounter, a situation in which he and his ship was possibly out matched, out gunned, isolated from help and no means of sending for help. "Kobashi Maru..." The captain uttered under his breath, a cursed word and an impossible test brought to life as the Romulan vessels decloake before the Star Cruise, revealing two dreadnaught class Warbirds with armed disruptors.
"I either agree to their terms and be shot in the back or I fight undermanned and gunned..." Nathan thought to himself as he worked the situation from every angel, out maneuver them, fly in between with guns blazing, get to the wormhole, vent the warp plasma to mask their escape... Wait a minute... The wormhole!
"Olxyan, how quickly can we get to the wormhole and can it be 're-opened'?" Nathan asked, moving to the science station. The Reman and Borg officers look quizzically at one another and then to the captain. "We can get there easy, getting that wormhole open might be another thing. But sir, you do realize the implications with your request?" Olyxan asked while Five began to run the equations necessary to approximate a frequency to open the worm hole.
"I do." Nathan said softly and returned to the center of the bridge. "I know we have only known each other for not even a few days as of now, but we are faced with life or death. I see an opening for another day of life for everyone aboard this ship, even if it means we are to be slung out to space unknown. I know we will press on, voyage home and boldly go where no one has gone before!"
"Sir." The helmsman said. "I believe I speak for everyone when I say that we will follow you to unknown stars." The android spoke while the rest of the officers gave agreeing nods.
A smile formed on Nathan's face, knowing that some how he has already gained the respect of the crew and hoping he will not steer them wrong. "Thank you, everyone. I promise that I will personally bring everyone home." He states before taking a seat in the Captain's Chair. "Helm, bring us to the wormhole, full impulse. Sciences, open the wormhole and get that code to one of the torpedoes and have Engineering beam it out into space once we have cleared into the wormhole. I'd rather not have these dreadnaughts follow after us if I can help it." Nathan ordered and the Odyssey's engines roared to life, pushing the ship forward.
The two dreadnaughts sat there, puzzled by this action as their weapons powered up. At that moment, the wormhole opened up while commanders of those ships tried to get answers. Everything seemed to go according to plan as the Star Cruiser grazed by the dreadnaughts, making its way as fast as possible to the now opened wormhole. Seconds flew by with the ship gunning it towards that opening with the dreadnaughts coming about and begun to fire their weapons, missing their mark with each shot. "Transporter room, now!" Nathan called out just as the ship entered into the worm hole, leaving behind a torpedo the soon detonated, forcing the hole shut once more and the crew of the U.S.S. Bohrok Kal stranded on the other side... Where ever that may be...
