Omg...lol I stopped when I got to "Canadian analysis".
I don't know.....some kids just don't learn without beatings sweatdrop
Seriously, some parents take it too far, but I believe there is a certain amount of beating that is appropriate.

When I was a kid there were spankings I understood and ones I didn't. If I slapped my sister in the face and got a spanking, I learned that violence is painful, and not to do it again. However, if I failed a class or couldn't finish my homework even after spending four hours on it and got popped, I learned nothing except to fear my mom's wrath and lie my a** off as long as I possibly could when things aren't the way she wants them. She wasn't abusive by any means - but she made a mistake when she thought punishment fitting one wrong fit all wrongs.
It really worries me about someday being a parent. I don't want to be a violent mom someday, but I don't know how to do verbal punishments for kids. And then in the news they keep exposing child molestors and cases of criminal negligence at the local schools. x_x; Gaaah, why can't children just be born and turn four and stay that way forever? Always cute and by your side, like a pet that talks and wearc clothes!

I wish these articles went more into how the studies were conducted, how large the test group was, how the group was selected, etc.
