Due to not having a scanner, I've been put into a postion were I have to use art programs on my computer if I want to be able to show any of my work. A friend of mine was kind enough to give me a copy of his photoshop portable program. The problem is, I've never done any kind of art using computer programs before and I don't know how to work it. I've also noticed that the quality of my art drops significantly when I use my computer to do it. Would anyone be able to give me a rundown on at least the basics of how to use psp? I will love you forever lol

It really depends on what result you want. What are you trying to do?

I'm wanting to do more anime style art, though I also need to figure out how to draw animals as well so that I can work on doing more anthros.

digital art is an extension of traditional art. Draw and improve more just like you would irl.
Do you have a tablet?

Sadly, I don't. All I have is the mouse pad on my laptop. That's one of the reasons why the quality drops so much compared to what I do with pencil and paper.

Then invest in a tablet or a scanner because you're not going to be able to accomplish anything with a touchpad.
