For a while now, I've been having some difficulties keeping the smell of my breath under control. I've done the obvious things (tons of tic-tacs, breath spray, etc.) but they don't seem to be helping much at all. They cover it up a little but the bad breath is still there. Kinda like spraying febreeze to cover up the scent of a garbage dump. ><; I brush my teeth and I use mouthwash every day, but I still have bad breath. gonk

I normally don't eat breakfast and am rarely hungry for lunch (may or may not have to do with my ADD medication) and a friend told me that not eating enough can also cause bad breath, but I'm not sure if this is true or not. I've tried having some bread or just about whatever I have time to eat in the morning to see if it would make a difference but I didn't notice much of a change.

Any advice on what I can do about this? It's really quite embarrassing for me as you can probably imagine. ><;;; All help is greatly appreciated.

Your friend is right, eating and drinking can reduce bad breath. That's assuming you're not eating onions and garlic of course! Stay away from really sugary stuff too. Try something citrus.

I see. ^^ Thanks! I'll try some grapefruit or something and see if that helps. ^^

There's different sorts of bad breath, and various causes. The reason why people have bad breath in the morning is because over night you stop salivating, and since your mouth is overall dark and kinda damp, mold and bacteria can grow easily over night. If you eat in the morning, you will activate your salivary glands which will produce saliva and help wash away the bacteria.

If you're of age, drinking some alcohol later in the evening can kill off some of those bad breath germs. Another option is using listerine, or some other mouth wash.

Chewing on fresh mint can also help.

Certain foods can help too.

Like yogurt, berries and citrus fruits, and also some herbs.

That may help you out!

(very late reply)
Do you clean your tongue? If not, then you need to. Having a dirty tongue is the leading cause of bad breath. Brushing and mouthwash and eating are not enough. You have to clean up the left over food particles in your mouth. So buy some tongue foam, and a tongue brush, and clean your tongue as often as you brush your teeth. Your breath should start getting better.
