Яцɴɑѡɑʏ
She was the daughter of a duke and his wife. She was raised to be beautiful, charming, and a musical genius. Living the easy life of a duchess, she got what she wanted, when she wanted it. Though she was spoiled, she wasn't a brat nor had a terrible outlook on those of the lower class. Actually, she had admired them for the simplicity within their lives and how they could do virtually anything they wanted when they wanted to do it. When she was sixteen, she was engaged to a man she had never met and never wanted to meet. She didn't understand how couples, like her parents, could live with each other. Just a month before being both introduced and married to this man, she ran away to live the common life in a small and distant city known as Resembul. She is now an actress, singer, and musician for the opera house.
He was the son of a lord and his wife. He was raised to be handsome, charming, and brilliant in virtually anything he did. He was a lady-killer and knew it for a fact, but even with this trait under his belt, he wanted something more. He wanted a woman who he could laugh with, a woman who didn't care what others thought about her like all of the noble women did. After taking a glance at the commoners, he decided that he wanted to be one of them, too. Without his knowledge until a month prior to the wedding was he told that he had been engaged to a woman of high status and wealth. This didn't please him, so he fulfilled his dreams by hitting the road. Eventually, he found himself in Resembul and put his charm and magic tricks to use by being hired at the local opera house.
What if these two are to meet under different circumstances?

Adelina was standing backstage of the opera house. She was leaning to and fro on the balls and heels of her feet, slightly nervous about this performance. Yes, it was just a talent show-type of thing, but she always wanted to do her best. She cleared her throat, wondering when the acrobats that were currently on stage would get done with their leaping and flips, making the audience 'ooh' and 'ahh'. She also wanted her act to be better than the rest. If she could impress some of the richer people in this city, she might be able to find herself some extra jobs for a little more money.
She had a song in mind that would prove to be beautiful, if she didn't get too nervous and stumble over the words or something of the sort. She heard some giggles behind her and turned to find a crowd of girls literally swooning over a conversation about the handsome magician. Unlike the other girls, she could contain herself. He was quite the looker, but was he all that he appeared to be? Well, if I get the chance, perhaps I'll invite him out for dinner or something....

"Gallus!! You're late!" Yelled a coordinator of this evening's show.
Gallus casually walked into the entrance of the backstage preparation area, a backpack on his back and a smile on his face. He smiles and hung his backpack on the nearest hook, chuckling like a child with not a care in the world. "My apologies my good man." Gallus stated, in a calming voice that could tame even the most intense of rages. He shook the had of the coordinator. "I found myself in the most spetacular little cafe not a 30 minutes walk from here and engaged in an intriguing conversation with a jewelry merchant. Do you know how much it costs to hire protection for jewel cargo? Why its no wonder the stuff is so expensive!" As he talked, the coordinator shook his head and slapped his head against his wrist. "Leave it to you to have the most obscure reasons for being late." He mumbled under his breath. "You're act was pushed to last because you couldn't make your original time. You are two acts away from performing.
Gallus nodded in thanks and stolled to the corner of the room, with a lone stool in place. Sitting down in his favorite preparation spot, he smiled at the small crowd girls eyeing him in earnest and smile, causing an explosion of euphoric screams amongst them. He noticed a particularly eye-catching lady that was near the entrance of the stage, presumably to go onstage next. Gallus gave a two fingered salute and beamed a huge smile, hopefully something that can encourage her.

Adelina couldn't help but stiffle a laugh at the magician's entrance. The coordinator was not a man to trifle with, but he seemed to have said something that calmed the man down enough that he wasn't in too much trouble. Pushing back a loose strand of her fiery red hair that had managed to escape the tight bun that she'd put in in earlier that evening, she noticed that he had caught her looking in his direction. The acrobats were finally ending their act, which had been forcibly prolonged in order to keep the audience from wondering where the magician was. Glancing at the stage and returning her odd colored eyes to him, she nodded, a sweet smile gracing her lips before she went onstage.
Upon stepping on the stage, she was a different woman, a different girl. She was not shy and 'mysterious'... instead, she held an air of dignity and passion for what she did. She had felt a stirring of self-confidence with his wave, but even then, she still had to take several deep breaths to keep herself from having a mental breakdown. When everything was silent, she gazed past the audience, as if she were looking over a balcony and towards the sea, she opened her mouth and began to sing a sad, but beautiful melody. Her voice was heavenly and the emotions that she put into the song were from her soul. The audience sat there transfixed on the lovely musician before them.
When her song had ended, she curtsied and ignored the pleads for more. The first time she'd sang, the manager had told her that she should leave them craving for more, and that is what she intended to do this time around. The moment she stepped offstage, she leaned against the wall, her knees shaking and her breathing ragged.

At the first note the red haired girl sang, Gallus's ear's instantly rose up like a wolf, instantly recognizing a divinely talented vocalist. He shot out of his seat and peered around the backwall, looking at the singer with a much deserved attention. Inside, he was taken aback by her tune, and her range was truly amazing. This couldn't have been that same girl who looked like she had never even seen a stage just a few minutes before. She blossomed on stage, and Gallus smiled not knowing why during this stranger's song.
Gallus didn't say anything as she approached the wall. He just simply observed as she turned back into her non-stage form, her nerves all the sudden kicking in over her adrenaline. Now was not the time to bother her with praise, there was time for that later.
Gallus walked onto the stage with a fierce opening applause, walking to the center of the stage, he raised his hand in acknowledgment and awaited silence. His voice pierced the ears of all in attendance, one that commanded undivided attention. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen for coming out tonight. In case you don't know me, my name is Gallus." More applause rang out quickly, and several propositions of marriage came from one particularly loud female witness, drawing a few laughs. He chuckled himself before continuing "I had a little bit of a magic show planned for you tonight, but it appears that the young lady before me beat me to it. Give her another hand of applause!"
The response was another roaring applause from the audience. Gallus chuckled for a bit before he started his act, immediately gaining the attention of the crowd. He started with his specialty: he made his body come off the ground! with nothing holding him up but the divine forces, he walked on air as he moved above the actual audience, just out of arms reach of the amazed crowd. In a puff of smoke, he suddenly disappeared. The audience looked for him before he cleared is throat, drawing all the attention to where he was in the back row. He walked back onstage with amazed applauds, and took out his signature knife. Opening his mouth and pointing it up in the air, he simply dropped the knife into his throat, the whole thing disappearing within. He put one finger up to pause the crowd, looking around before reaching into his boot and pulling out the same knife. The crowd was ecstatic and was applauding profusely, and he waved to the crowd and walked off stage. He was met by the coordinator, who gave a small smile and shook his hand, thanking Gallus for participating. As he was doing so, Gallus's eyes were transfixedonto Adelina's, giving her a warm smile while doing so

Adelina watched as the magician took her place, his eyes taking in the sight of the wreck that she must have appeared to be. But he didn't say anything or make any other notion that he noticed her nerves, which she couldn't help but be thankful for. When she'd finally got a hold of herself enough that she could stand without collapsing, she walked to the edge of the stage and watched his performane, applauding for his tricks. She couldn't help but smile and laugh along with the crowd. He truly was very entertaining and blew her act out of the water, but he was magnificent.
When he left the stage, several of the other actresses or dansers went over to congratulate him, just as heartily as the coordinator. They were asking for his autograph like overly dramatic fangirls, but she simply smiled, pretending as if she didn't want to go near until all of the adoring backstage fans were gone. His eyes met hers and instantly she was intrigued. Instead of paying attention to all of the lovely creatures before him, he was looking to her and giving her a smile that made her return his smile. Waving a little, she pushed a loose strand of her red hair behind her ear before walking to the girl's dressing room, looking over her shoulder and giving him a gaze that said that she wanted to speak with him later.

Gallus quickly peered over the small crowd of people that was steadily growing in size, looking at the red haired girl as she caught his gaze for a moment before retiring to the dressing room. He chuckled a bit to himself, promising in his head to find her very soon. He took a few moments to sign a few autographs and shake the hands of a few fans before quickly retiring to the male dressing room.
As he was changing, a few employees of the institution chanced by as well, igniting enthusiasm from their party. When Gallus realized they worked the event, he asked them if they knew who the girl that performed before him was. They looked surprised when he asked, wondering why Gallus would wonder about his opening act. "I'm sorry sir, but we cannot say," was the reply.
Gallus thanked them and continued to get dressed in his casual garb. With his white shirt mostly unbuttoned from forgetting to dress all the way, he quickly put on his jeans, gloves as he stuffed his performance suit in his bag and slung that over his shoulder. He exited the dressing room to the other side first, and was immediately swarmed by fans and interviewers from the local paper. He hesitantly started answering some questions, frantically looking towards the woman's changing room exit waiting for the red haired musician.

Adelina had finished dressing in one of the plain, commoner dresses that she'd managed to bargain from one of the maids of her past life as a noble's daughter. She removed the pins from her hair and pulled a rich necklace over her head and rested around her throat. It had been a gift from her father just days before she'd decided to run away from home and live the life of an actress and musician.
As she stood and started for the door, she heard several of the other girls murmur how Gallus was in over his head if he was after 'Miss Riddle', which was her fake last name while in this city. What on earth does that mean? Yes, he smiled at me, but I don't see what the big fuss is about. Then she left the dressing room and started for the door into the alley behind the opera house. Glancing around, she caught sight of Gallus being swarmed by people. I guess I'll just have to wait for a better chance. We won't get to have a decent conversation if we talked here.
She noticed that one of the reporters was standing towards the back, looking on reluctantly. Walking over and giving him a winning smile, she asked, "You wouldn't happen to have a pen and a piece of paper, would you my kind sir?" Inwardly, she thought that she might be overdoing it with the falttering adjectives, but the older man was instantly fumbling around for another pen, stumbling over his words. He gave her a slip of paper and the pen that he'd been using and quickly wrote a note for Gallus to meet her at the Lotus Cafe in an hour for something to celebrate the wonderful performance. She didn't sign her name, but instead simply folded the invitation and smiled a little. With another dose of flattery, the reporter said that he would give it to the magician immediately.
Walking towards the door as the reporter pushed his way through the crowd, he held out the folded note signed with 'Gallus the Great' in elegant cursive to Gallus. "This is from the singer." The man said, nodding towards the doorway. Standing by the door, she watched in hopes that he would read it and would get an answer then or if she would have to go there and hope that he would take up the offer.

Gallus was doing his standard round of autographs, when he got to the individual Adelina gave the letter to. He went to autograph the paper at first, assuming that it was just another fan. However, he noticed that his name was already written on it, and it was not in his handwriting. "This is from the singer." The man said.
Gallus immediately snatched the letter, opening it and beginning to read in earnest. She wanted to meet up in the Lotus Cafe? He smiled with excitement as he caught Adelina's eyesight once more, giving her a quick nod. In a sudden flash, Gallus was immediately brought back to earth, in the middle of the pack of fans and reporters.
He groaned slightly as he took out a smoke pellet, throwing it onto the ground. The crowd stepped away as they started to cough and gag, instinctively closing their eyes. When the smoke disappeared, They looked back to see that they were merely surrounding a doorway: Gallus disappeared.
As they all paused for a moment to look around, one figure in the crowd slowly made his way towards the street and walked coincidentally down towards the Lotus Cafe.

Adelina noticed his nod and smiled, but it instantly turned into a gasp when the smoke pellet clouded the entire room. She herself was thrown into a fit of coughing, but she got over it much more quickly than those whom had been closer to it. Exiting the building and breathing in the cleaner air, she decided that she would leave to the Lotus Cafe. As she walked down the street, a man stopped her. "Hello, Miss. What is a little lady like yourself doing out and about without a man to make sure nothing happens to her?"
"I'm afraid I do not understand what you mean, sir." She said in an innocent tone when she knew full well what his intentions were. "But since I am in a rush, I bid you a good evening." She tried to take a step around him, but he stepped to the side. "Please, sir, I really am in a hurry."
"Then let me at least acompany you." He insisted, but she feigned taking a step around him before swiftly crossing the street and running towards the cafe. The man simply shook his head, knowing who she was and that he would try to get to her later.
Upon reaching the Lotus Cafe, her cheeks were the color of a rose dipped in cream and her breathing labored. Blasted men... why can't they just get over the fact that not all women that work in the theatre are the average bed warmer? But she quickly shooed the thoughts away as she went to her normal table. Sitting down, she sighed, trying to calm her racing heart.

Gallus walked towards the cafe, in a state of bliss in anticipation of the next encounter. He had no idea what it was about this woman, but something intrigued him. He laughed out loud for a moment when he thought to himself whether or not she could be a siren of myth. If she is, he decided, then they certainly live up to their reputations.
Gallus bumped shoulders with a particularly grumpy man, who turned around for a moment to give Gallus an aggressive glare before continuing to walk away. Gallus didn't have anytime to be upset at the lack of manners of one man. He had an important date to make.
Gallus took a deep breath as he opened the door, mentally preparing himself. As soon as he opened the door, he immediately picked her out from the other in the Cafe. He revealed a small smile as he approached. She seemed preoccupied and slightly nervous. Hope its not because of me... he wondered
He sat down slowly, speaking to her as he did so. "You know, you don't have to be nervous anymore, I don't think either of us have any more performances for tonight." He chuckled a little bit after his slightly corny line, hoping she wouldn't get upset at him.

A smile passed over Adelina's face when she saw Gallus enter the tiny cafe. When he joked about her nervousness, she chuckled nervously, "Nah, I just had a bad encounter, that's all." Shrugging nonchallantly, she loved how the commoner's clothing gave her free reign of how much she could breath and move her arms and shoulders. "But I do always manage to look like a wreck before and after performances." She remembered the first performance she'd been in at the opera house, just a week before Gallus had joined, she'd been in such a daze that she nearly passed out backstage. A waiter walked over and gave them menus before walking away. Having come here often enough, Adleina knew what she was going to order. "You did a wonderful job tonight, Mr. Whiterunner."
