Yes. The question comes to mind: Is there such a thing as games and video games that a Christian can play? And still glorify the Lord?
Should Christians even be playing video games?
Good question.
Well, first off, if it's something that takes us away from God and Christ, and our first love, then no. Colossians Chapter 3 covers this pretty well.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
Colossians 3:5

Our first love being God and Christ, the second commandment in that being each other.

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
Matthew 22:36-40

Everything else hinges on that. Even the 10 Commandments. We can also mention Galatians 5:13-17, 1 Corinthians 10:23-24, Romans 14:19, for and against, and I'm sure that you can think of a few others.

Now. Here's why I'm asking: I have several disorders and diseases that I'm having a harder and harder time getting on top of. I want to recover. As much as I can, anyway. Please keep in mind that I don't feel as badly about this as I should. It's given to God, long ago. But I can do my best to recover, take care of my family, and do God's work. I just have to be a little more creative in how I do it.
Why, you ask? If it's given to God, why are you worried about it? Well, because that's part of what I do - share my testimony, and the blessings that come along to help that. Part of what people ask is what I do to recover.
For part of my recovery plan, for working on memory and cognitive skills, several doctors suggested video games. Unfortunately, since my walk with Christ is a little more advanced now, I've kind of lost the desire for most of what's on the market. Nothing against them necessarily, it's just not me anymore. And some of it I don't need, because quite frankly they cater to sins that I've long let go of.
To be honest, the first part of my recovery plan when I have an exacerbation is to glorify God. Thank Him for letting me still be here, and ask what's next. But His Will be done, and I'm still in the running. Psalm 143:10 for that one. Keeps the depression at bay, and knocks some of the pain out. I still get a little surly sometimes, but this works.
Next is to find things that help to glorify His Name. Music, scripture, and anything that I am capable of doing at that moment to spend time with my family, that I'm not worried about having Christ right there in the action with.
Make sense?

Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 13:21

This is not a stand for video games, RP, and Rock and Roll. While great, they can too easily take us away from Our Lord in Heaven, and that's not what I'm here for. This is a stand for healing, fellowship, and worship. Any way necessary that keeps with the criteria. My first thought, as a Southern Baptist, is to bake and cook everything in the house and go feed the world. Or whomever I can terrify with my cooking. But I'd eat a lot of it, and I have to be careful. So I'll feed as many as need it that I have the energy to do.

Please post here your suggestions. We can discuss the negatives and positives of our choices, use it for personal reflection on what we can do on our walk with Christ, and help each other to do the same.
Thank you. God bless you all.

I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 2:1

Anybody know about this Guitar Praise game? Or any others that would work for this?

do notice that jesus did not stay away from the world to preach....he went straight to the source...he went to parties with immoral people who did immoral things. he ate and drank with them though he always turned them to the light...
here is a short saying that my father always told me

jesus did not walk in the light but in the darkness because he WAS the light

taking part in video games and movies are fine...so long as they do not change you or violate your beliefes....take for instance...
I dont drink...that is my personal choice....I have lived for 22 years and still have not drank so much as a single drop of beer wine or anything of the sort...
same could be said about video games....yes...it can be healthy to avoide them...but is it sinful to play a few games?...
is it sinful to drink?
no...
is it sinful to drink in eccess?
is it sinful to play in eccess?
is it sinful to drink things that are just simply over the top? ((refering to drinks mostly influenced by anti christian religions or offshoot pagan beliefes ie blood in the wine praying over the ale to satan. alchemy etc etc.))
is it sinful to play games that are simply over the top?
((porn games satanistic games etc etc))
