I'm not as hyped up for this console as I have been for previous ones, but it does seem like a vast upgrade to the PSP 1000-3000 (and the Go, I suppose).
EDIT: Only a 5" OLED screen? That's a bummer - my phone has a better screen and is 4.1" 4.5". The ARM processor sounds nice though.

Also found out that the 3G Vita is "delayed" in Canada, hense why you can't find any info on it. I suspect that Sony can't get Bell or Rogers to co-operate and give reasonable rates for the 3G access. Right now their plans are equal to "rape you a little" or "rape you a lot" and that wouild not help sell a 3G version fo the system.

Thats not bad at all, but at the moment, knowing Rogers the prices here will be more like $35 and $55 or something if they are THAT nice to begin with. sweatdrop I downgraded to the Wifi version, I will just use open wifi networks lol.

IMO the 3G stuff on the vita is complete bull. Which now that I think of it is kind of funny since 3G was something I predicted the PSP2 to have a few years ago. What are you going to be able to do with it anyways? Online play not only will eat up the data, but require a decent connection. Most games are 250MB+ so that's not the best thing. Ultimately, I think the only thing is messaging and internet browsing. Which doesn't justify the monthly fee. If I really wanted to I could spend $30/month with my carrier and hotspot my cell phone (with LTE) and have it be unlimited. I would get the same perks that having a 3G vita would have with the exception of: 1.) Stuff like ping and data speeds would be better. 2.) It would be unlimited

I think that 3G would be more useful IF the suppliers of the service were not so greedy, they over charge on it in many locations, what is needed is an affordable, similar tech that is more reliable for units like this. I am curious as to the Japanese prices and equivilants for the services.

I am curious as to the Japanese prices and equivilants for the services. Yes and no. My carrier (verizon) last year went to tiered data plans. Prior to that smart phones had unlimited data for $29.99/month. I was also lucky last year to get my plan over to this exclusive deal that took $20 off a month on the data. So all in all my unlimited data is $9.99/month. Anyways, since I had unlimited data before the new plans I am grandfathered into unlimited. So theoretically I can keep my unlimited data forever as long as: - I don't leave verizon - Downgrade to a basic phone The $30/month thing I was talking about was adding a hotspot feature to my phone. Allowing me to connect WiFi devices to my phone and share my cellular signal. With verizon only their LTE phones can have unlimited data hotspot. Their 3G phones are all tiered with no unlimited option. I want to know as well. So I guess I'm going to go do some deep searching.

So I found out the data plans for the Vita over in Japan. Service is from NTT DOCOMO. I have to say they're fairly interesting.
While our data plans are based on data; theirs are based on time.
980 Yen ($13) = 20 Hours 4,980 Yen ($65) = 100 Hours
Max speeds for them are 128 Kbps Down/ 64 Kbps Up. The 100 hour plans also includes 3 hours of FOMA High-Speed access. Which have 14 Mbps Down/5.7 Mbps up.
I have to say that those speeds are really bad (excluding the FOMA stuff).
As for Europe they stuff is a little different. Unlike USA, Canada, and Japan Vodafone is the "preferred" carrier. That means the 3G Vita will come with a Vodafone SIM, BUT you don't have to use Vodafone. You can use another carrier if you want.
