Does anyone know which one is better? I guess for the overall use of drawing stuff. I have used photoshop in a class before (but I didn't play around with all the features). I recently found out about manga studio and wanted to know if it was only good for making comic strips or does it have a broader range of possibilities? Any help would be appreciated 3nodding

This is a rather slow guild so be a bit patient with us! biggrin
Yes, you can draw in Manga Studio from what I know if it. Photoshop is by far a more robust program with different options for different image processing and creating needs.
If you're just wanting to find a good drawing program, Manga Studio is a good choice. If you want an overall art and image processor, or plan on doing a lot of printing, Photoshop is the way to go.
But I'd like to point out that Manga Studio EX(~$300 USD) is less than half the price of Photoshop CS5 (~$700 USD). I think there's a smaller program for Manga Studio that's a lot cheaper, but I don't know anything about it.

Thank you for the info, I think the one your talking about may be manga studio 4. I wonder if that's just as good as the one you mentioned. confused

I think I found the comparison page here: http://manga.smithmicro.com/debut_vs_ex.htmlIt mentions some of the differences and limitations of "Debut" vs. "EX". EDIT: It does seem that Debut is missing a few tools that I would deem crucial - brush tip, close fill, eyedropper - to name a few.

I knew it being called "debut" had to mean something with the content. It's strange though, I haven't seen that "EX" version in stores (and that's that I've been looking online). I only looked at places that I can pick it up myself, though.

Photoshop. One hundred times photoshop. I've tried my hand at both of them and I honestly couldn't wrap my head around manga studio.

Photoshop hands down. Aside from art, you can use it to retouch some photos that you may have in your computer or digital camera. I've used it to resort a lot of old photos that were ripped, old, needed color adjustments, etc.
People forget that Photoshop is also used for photos for some reason.

Didnt read much of what was already said, but from my speculation manga studio is for creating stuff with textures very much like what you'd see in comic books. It is a great program for drawing lines, gradients, and other black and white features.
I haven't seen it used much for color so I dont even know if it can.
I have actually used photoshop and I think it is a wonderful program. while it can color, do linework and offer some animation features, I don't think it can do as much as manga studio as far as black and white goes (at least not as easily).
In my view, I believe photoshop is better if you want to color images, sketch, or doodle etc. It offers various options for finished looking projects.
Manga studio seems more for people that want to do linework, black and white shading, and gradient textures. Hope this helps you.
