So, just in case you guys haven't had a chance to visit the art contest forum in the last few months I have a particular contest I've been following that I'd earnestly like to see get more entries, especially high quality entries deserving of the subject matter, and the sheer awesomeness of the prizes being offered. I don't normally promote things I'm not tied to directly, but I really enjoy the contests creators comic (read it here), and I think she deserves the extra attention for all her hard work. I'll be entering it myself, and I'd be so excited if anyone else decides to enter it with me. I love the world she's created, and I'd really enjoy seeing everyone's interpretations.

It got extended to sometime after October, so I figure that's a pretty good amount of time to work on something for it. It's been going on for almost a year now, and it only has 50 entries. And I haven't seen much of anything in the entries that represents the story, and characters well.

It could be that there are several artists still working on detailed pieces, but I think the caliber of the prizes is actually so high it's discouraging artists to join.

The author is really receptive to questions from those who don't have time/ dont want to read the comic. Otherwise the descriptions of the characters that are provided are really accurate, and you don't need much more information then that unless you plan on depicting a scene of some sort.

For what they're offering I can see it, but you shouldn't let it discourage you from entering. You could use it as an opportunity to push yourself.
