The Role Play:

Life as we know it is about to be erupted into chaos forever. The fiends of the neither and the summoning's by the many groups of Dark priests in the area has left the coastal region of Faerun in utter disturbia. To the king of Neverwinter, it seems war might be brewing but he still can not figure out by whom. The Priests have hulled themselves up in the bordering land of Luskan and the fiends are roaming unchecked and unchallenged for the most part through the Sword mountains. For the fear of an all out assault on the lands of Neverwinter and all of its bordering villages and city states, The king has set out a single decree. "Those of you out there who wish to uphold the peace and steady nature of are lands are by decree summoned to the grounds of proving within the outskirts of the grand city of Neverwinter for a challenge. Though's of you that survive this event shall be awarded with an audience with myself and my military advisers for a special meeting."

These kinds of signs from the king have made there way to the far corners of the region. Many men and woman of all races have made there way to the proving pit but none have survived. The king is growing paranoid with every failed attempt at the grounds for the unknown war is looming closer into the horizon. This is were you start my friends. Where ever you begin is at your leisure and you're choice is simple. Help the king raise a group to fight off the seemingly unknown foe, or join the deep dark crypt housings of the Priests and plot the destruction of Faerun.

::She stood swiftly as she looked around her woodland home. The war was huge and many soldiers were needed and she had decided that she would try her hands at joining the army. Her family was supportive of her because she was an elf and elves had to make a name for themselves to be much of anything in this age. Alex kissed her mother and father goodbye and she began her journey towards the kings castle and who knows who or what she might encounter along the way.::

Ifrit mounted his black horse and looked back at his men, "My brothers of the sword, stay ready and protect our home from those of evil forces. When those are in need of protection and shelter welcome them in and care for them.", his men nodded in approval, they highly respected their half blood prince who was also the captain of the army. His brave actions on the field also reflected his kind heart to those in need. Ifrit reached down as one of his soldiers handed him a bow and quiver of arrows, "My lord you may need these.", Ifrit nodded and placed them in the storage bag on his saddle, "If the battle becomes to strong I shall send word for our forces to ride out and take the enemy from the outside.", he saluted his men and they drew their swords in honor. With that Ifrit rode out into the forest and headed towards the King's castle, for a man of elven and human blood he was accepted amongest the elfs but will the humans welcome him with open arms. Such things didn't bother him, he was here with the same reason they were, to stop the evil from devouring the lands.

Hooded and cloaked; Dannith made his way slowly north through the rolling hills of the Neverwinter's many open fields. The looming of towers in the distance notified him that he was closing in on the city. Something stirred within Dannith though as he watched the land around him beginning to change as if some ill will was forsaking them, this made his resolve to reach the Proving grounds soon his top priority. Giving his horse a slight nudge from his metal boot, Dannith made for a full Gallop to the grounds. Smell's of burning hickory and pine could be caught on the air, the sounds of sullen swords meeting shields dinging louder and louder with every length he made it closer. Upon arriving he could see the pit. A literal dent into the ground where a large explosion must have happened long ago. Though the enemies who he would have to fight were a group of people he did not expect to see on Neverwinter soil again.

Luskan's, the ruthless cowards from the far north. These men are more like murderer's than fighters and soldiers, though the rules of the pit were simple. Neverwinter and Luskan put forth champions. Whoever has the most amount of hero's alive in the end of the trials. They will be the one's to speak directly with the Lord of Neverwinter. King Nasher. The sneering and sinful looks of bloodlust from the Luskan force stared at Dannith as he dismounted and gave the reigns of his horse to one of the stable lads. A big billowing black cloak wrapped around Dannith covering his armor and weapons. The neck of the cloak had thick black fur sown into it from a kill of his, the only thing visible was the shield strapped to his back and his blood red hood from his tunic. The Luskan's kept there distance as he walked into the main tent and signed his name to the roster of Neverwinter. "
Let the fun begin." Dannith muttered to himself as he went to the Tavern that was set up for the fighters, he was awaiting the announcement to state when the fighting would begin. He knew that the Luskan's were in the lead for kills but he would soon change that.

Ifrit dismounted from his horse after several hours of riding and walking. He rubbed his horse's neck, his elven senses picked up on the smells, the sounds, and the sights of what was going on close to him. Being a half elf he could not enjoy the benefits of the full effect of elven gifts nor will have live for thousands of years, but time is different for everyone. He looked towards the stables and walked towards them, one of the boys approached him and Ifrit handed him his horse's reigns, "Thank good care of him, some water would surely benefit him. He reached into the bag and gave the boy a gold coin, "One now and one when I return.", he took the bag from the sattle and tied it onto his waist. His twin swords on his back, the elven work was easy to spot as where the elven tribal tattoos on his shoulders and arms.

Ifrit could hear the voices of several Luskan's, they believed him to be an elf but he had human features. Ifrit remembered what his uncle told him to do, go into the main tent and sign your name to the Neverwinter roster, there you will be tested and recieve word on whats next. Ifrit did as he was told, he went into the main tent and signed his name to the roster, he recieved strange looks from the young man sitting at the table but the old man next to him stood and gave a slight bow, "Such an honor to see the elf's send a man of your respect to our calling, Prince Ifrit." Ifrit bowwed back, "Thank you sir but I must request. I come forth as a soldier for the good of the lands, not as a prince of elfs.", the old man smiled and motioned towards the tavern, "A humble and honorable man you are, please rest there, I'm sure you will meet some others that will fight along side you." Ifrit nodded in thanks and walked into the tavern. He scanned the room quickly as several eyes fell upon him, he paid them no attention, he went and sat down in a chair against the wall. Several chairs down there was a large man in a black cloak with a red hood, a large shield on his back, Ifrit could tell by his size he was far bigger that himself. He didn't wish to bother anyone so he stayed to himself, he already had a gameplan to counter the enemies in the pit, use his speed and aggressive style to earn victory, he was unmatched at his style of combat that he perfected after many years of training, and it would help him soon.

The time away from home had proved to be invaluable for the elven fighter. While it pained her soul to be so far from the people she swore to protect, something had to be done about the unease that whispered into the dark corners of the Neverwinter Woods. Though strife had never reached her home, the eerie sense of danger loomed over them, and the villagers reflected that fear in their expressions. Even the other warriors wondered what lied in the woods that they did not know of, and could bring such a fearing aura to even their hearts. Raine could not stand this unknowning threat terrorizing her home, and had to make a decision. Since the trouble would not come to her, she would go to it, and end this silent reign of terror on her people. Where it was, she did not know. But, following her instincts to guide her true, she had to find it sooner or later.

When she had reached Helm's Hold on her journey, the first true glimpse of advanced civilization outside of the treeline, Raine was for once out of her element. The trees and nature of her woods had been so easy to navigate, so easy to find landmarks to guide her way—but the vast amounts of people crowding around building after building proved to be more non-navigable than anything she ever had to deal with before. How could all these cityfolk stand to be penned into one area like this? It wasn't as if they could really think this was..comfortable living... But, Raine disgressed. This was the direction her curious sense had brought her. She felt it here too, that embedded fear as though a threat were looming behind her shoulders. And yet, people went about their daily lives without a care, unaware of what was out there. As she spent a few days gathering information and getting her bearings in this new environment, it was here Raine began to doubt herself. Was this fear simply just a paranoia? ...No. It couldn't be. Not when it afflicted all of Ivalice, all of those elves back home who had never once feared an invasion or war. Raine then knew she had to remain strong for them, to find the strength necessary to give them peace of mind once more.

She had heard the rumors, the gossip, of the King of Neverwinter's decree while staying in Helm's Hold, and how he sought out for fighters to prove their worth to gain an audience with him. It sounded quite drole at first, an excuse for mindless battling—except for the notion that it was a search for those who wished to uphold peace in the land. Raine became curious about this challenge if only for that bit. Though her mission was to protect her Ivalice and seek the fear that plagued them, this opportunity was almost too good to pass up. Her steady and justice-bound nature could not ignore a call to uphold the rightful law of the land. And that was all it took to bring Raine westward, to the city of Neverwinter itself.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx﹄═════════════════════════﹃

She travelled by foot all the way to the city in the west. Bringing a horse or hitching a ride were expenses she could not afford. The elven woman spared no time in bringing herself there, spending every waking hour trekking to this 'proving ground' the townspeople talked of. It was a long trip out of her way, but hopefully well worth it. Once she reached the area itself, Raine gazed at the displays of fighting taking place outside and knew this was the correct place with no doubt in her mind. The odor in the air reeked with leaking smoke, a tainted version of the trees she knew so well. With her sword sheathed in the case that hung low behind her thighs, Raine ventured into the daring grounds, preparing herself for the worst to come.

User ImageAfter signing herself up for the competition, Raine stopped inside the fighter's tavern to rest up for the challenge ahead. Since putting all her effort into getting to the grounds in time had left little room for rest and rejuvenation, she desperately needed food and drink. Crystal-like blue eyes quickly noticed peering men as she walked inside and stepped up to the bar. She thought nothing of her looks—her apparel was just casual wear for her—but shaggy sleazy warriors here and there were eyeing her up silently. What pigs. It was like they never met a elven fighter.

They were no concern to her though. Ignoring the looks they gave, Raine seated herself in the middle of the bar, front and center, with no shame.
"Sir, a drink of water to tid me over, if you please," she called to the tavern keeper behind the counter as he walked passed her. He raised a strange brow at her request but made no fuss of it. After waiting on another group of fighters, he came back with a normal glass of tap water and set it down for her. Raine couldn't tolerate the taste alcohol nor did she enjoy the smell of it that hovered in the air around her. She preferred to be fully aware and ready at a moment's notice, not half-dazed and drunk.

:: Alexrandra looked at the distance between her and the kindgom, she had a least a three days walk ahead of her but she wasn't about to let that stop her. She took her horse by the hand and stroked it gently, letting it know this would not be an easy journey but the reward for be all the worth it. For a kindgom to be in peace was all that anyone could ask in these times of war.:;

::She thought to herself as she traveled will I see other elves or will I see anyone at all.::

::She continued on, as her horse was starting to get tired and they weren't even pass the first leg of the trip. She grabbed the reins telling her horse that now was not the time to be lazy. She thought of her king and all the things that had put the elves in the state that they were. Would her being in the army help her clan? She didn't know but she know that she was talented in archery and she would use her talent to help anyway she could. It was a longshot but Alex had to reclaim her family's honor but mostly she wanted to prove that any elf could do anything a human could and more.::

Dannith watched as the elves filed inside the Tavern it seemed one after the other. The male of the two took a seat near him; the looks he was getting from the Luskan fighters in the tavern suggested that he was of the Neverwinter side. More and more able body fighters for Neverwinter, now it didn't seem too much like an offset fight between the two nations. Taking another gulp of his honey mead, Dannith stood from his table and walked to the elven man's table. Towering over many any the room and almost twice the size, Dannith was a huge metal plated tank. Looking down at the man he gave him a nod and pointed to the open chair."Mind if I join you lad? Us Neverwinter fighters need to stick together."

((Thought I'd start off the interactions lol.))

Ifrit nodded and motioned to the chair, "Of course sir...", Ifrit waited until he sat down before Ifrit extended his hand to him. Ifrit's leather gaunlets were the only armor on his hands and forearms compared to the iron cladded man infront of him, "I am Ifrit of the Royal Elven family and Captain of the Elven army...", Ifrit could tell this man was a gaint among most men, but due to Ifrit being half mortal man himself he was more muscled than most elvens but he was a bit shorter than most, "Who do I have the honor of meeting and soon to fight beside.", Ifrit finished with a smile.

Dannith reached out and clasped hands with the half elf. The gauntlet from his black and gold trimmed armor making a sullen clank noise as it came out from under his cloak, with the other hand he pulled have his scarlet hood to reveal his face; battle worn and tanned almost to leather. His only working eye gleamed with zeal and determination, is dead eye showed a ghost like appearance of the eye that once could see. From there the scar's along his face seemed old but also deep as they didn't go back to the regular skin tone but stayed dark. "I am Dannith Utheran, Paladin of St. Cuthbert the Cudgel. It's an honor to have the Elven prince here to help us turn the tide against these dogs that call themselves fighters." With that said Dannith pointed to the other side of the Tavern where the Luskan forces were sitting discussing cheating ways of winning. Dannith ran his hand through his hair pulling his long ponytail out so it could sit outside of the cloak. His right hand unclasped from Ifrit's and sat relaxed on the handle of his Warhammer, ready for a Luskan thug to try and mess with him.

Ifrit gave Dannith a firm grip of a hand shake, there was a strong show of respect between the two already. "Thank you but I must say I am here as a warrior not as a prince, I am just as equal as the next man on the battlefield.", Ifrit looked at Dannith motioned towards the other side. "They fear for their lives that is why they fight the way they do. Fear is a heavy burden."

Rellic was sleeping in the woods she called home, on an almost level boulder in a small clearing. She layed on her side, flute in her hands. Soon she woke up to the pack of wolves howling in parade, as they came home from the day's hunt. She sat up and watched them come into the clearing from a small path between the trees. First the two alphas, then the betas..another 8 pack members, 2 more pairs, each carrying a deer carcass, then a few pups followed by the 2 elders and the omega who always carried his tail low. As the deer were dragged in the two alpha went over to Rellic and nudged her legs with their foreheads in greeting, then they ran off to the corpses to get their first pick.
After the leaders chosing one of the hunters ran up to her with a shank from one of the deer. She took it and thanked the wolf, who then ran back for his own meal. She looked at the shank of meat the wolf had given her. Normally she would've gathered some wood and tried to make a fire, or ocasionally eat it raw... but she wasn't feeling hungry this day. Rellic saw the omega sitting sidelines waiting for his turn as last to pick. Rellic called him over and gave the leg to him, who was happy to take it, but out of respect he didnt start eating until the rest of his pack mates had their fill.
When the pack finished eating they laid around, some slept. Rellic picked up her flute, took a calm breath and started to play a song. And as the rest of the pack usually did, their howls joined in, and they could be heard for miles through the forrest.

Turning his head, Dannith looked into the eyes of some of the Luskan fighters. They almost seemed to stare at him probally because of the huge scar running down his face which made his left eye virtually useless. Only the ghost of what used to be there was seen. The things he could see in there eyes was a mix of fear and anticipation for the fights that will ensue later this day. The setting of the sun is the marker of beginning the fights. The member's of both forces were beginning to get edgy in there seats. Almost nervous to start. With that he turned back around and drained his mug of the Honey mead he had. Pulling out his long stemmed pipe packing it. With the stroke of his wrist against his bracer, the match ignited as he began to puff on the pipe. Looking at Ifrit he motioned his head to the door."I believe its time we take ourselves to the pit, sun will be setting soon." With that he stands slowly from the table, his hand firmly on the grip of his hammer, the other on his pipe. Stepping out of the tavern, the brisk chill of Autumn's wind blowing in from the north. The sun setting in the east. Dannith walked to the edge of the pit looking up at the setting sun with a sullen sigh. He knew he would have to spill innocent blood this day.

Ifrit followed his gaint partner out of the tavern and towards the pit, Ifrit studied the pit closely as they stopped next to it. "It seems to be a fair battleground from what I can see...It's supposed to be a mutual field to all who walk on it, but looks can be true to the eyes but false to the gut feeling of a warrior.", Ifrit looked at Dannith's large hammer then glanced to his twin swords on his back, "We all have our own styles of combat, personally I look forward to seeing you wield your hammer. The elfs all focus on agility and fast one hit strikes, being half human gives me a slight advantage in strength and muscle, I do enjoy a good heavy strike or two but the battlefield isn't a playground."
