Well, I'm preety sure that hip hop was derived from slam poetry I would assume, but I have no clue where slam poetry started.

Did you know that african americans do new years and christmas different?
Actually im african american and my family and I celebrate christmas by fasting, like not eating for a period of time. And for new years, we dont celebrate, we pray for 3 hours untill 12:00 midnight, its very fun every year! Hope this is useful information
